(Gale travels to Lemuria)
Gale stood next to the railing of the airship. She stared out the window and into the storm slowly forming around the ship. Other guests on the airship passed by rapidly and wildly as if a river had been formed on the tight deck of the ship. Some passing guests even knocked into her, without so much as a simple sorry. Though Gale was unbothered, the majority of the people on the ship were adventurers like her after all. And adventurers always had some place to be, even if they had to hurt others to get to where they wanted to go.
Gale slumped down into a resting position on the edge of the railing. The airship had attracted her attention initially by advertising an exploration to investigate the Yggdrasil of Lemuria. Offers like this weren’t uncommon once a Yggdrasil’s potential for “economic increase” as it were, got recognized, as Gale was all too familiar with. Even if this Yggdrasil and it’s country was one Gale had never heard of, there was no doubt in her mind that if a world tree was within Lemuria, it wouldn’t spell for anything but disaster. As of now all Gale could do was wait for the airship to finally arrive on land, and only if it could through the now raging thunder and rain just outside the metal walls of the ship.
Turning her attention away from the outside, Gale peered to her right, where she spotted a woman, just a bit older than her standing stoically a few windows down. Based on her heavy armor she could’ve been a hoplite or protector of some kind. Gale decided to spark up some conversation.
“Pretty heavy weather today,” she commented.
“...Hm?” The regal woman responded. The woman turned to Gale, showing her bright blue eyes, starkly contrasting ginger hair, and distinctively royal jewlery.
The regal woman ignored Gale’s comment on the weather, instead addressing her directly.
“From the look of things, you don’t seem to be one of ours. Who are you?”
Gale took a moment, stuck in thought. One of ours?… She must be the owner of the ship then, and then… the leader of the expedition... Gale sighed, she get a soft smirk and replied.
“I’m just an adventurer of a long disbanded guild, Gale Ein to be specific.”
The woman paused, “Gale Ein…? Your name is familiar, are you one of the adventurer’s we’ve recruited?”
The woman turned back to the window, seeming to stare past the storm in front of her. “Never mind, Etria to the east, High Laagard in the north, Armoroad further south, or the remote city of Tharsis…” The regal woman returned her gaze to Gale, “No matter where you’ve come from, I thank you for heading out call.”
Not a second passed for Gale to respond before the woman continued again.
“The Lost Islands of Lemuria…” Gale noted the Lost into her memory, it made sense now why she lacked knowledge of the nation before boarding the airship. “It’s said to be a land cut off from the rest of the world…” The woman’s words trailed off from Gale’s attention.
Gale drifted in thought, thinking about her friends from Lagaard. She wondered how they were all doing, last she heard Caesar and Sylvian had moved down towards the Armoroad archipelagos, Wrasse had stayed in High Lagaard to take on an apprenticeship under the Guildmaster, and Dolor had gone to his wife to quietly live out the rest of his life. Her heart twinged thinking about them all. Gale wished they were there with her, not as adventurers but as her friends. However, she knew that their current paths were the best for them all, even if it was disappointing to have separated since their grand adventure six years ago.
“That said, we’re closing in on our destination now,” The woman stared wide eyed to the outside of the ship, and Gale snapped back to attention. “...We’re about to break through the clouds!”
Just as she said, the clouds suddenly cleared, and a familiar tree grew into clarity. There was a Yggdrasil in Lemuria. Gale shuddered, the danger was truly real now.
The regal woman continued to speak while staring out the window. Unaware to Gale’s sullen face. Just then, before the woman could turn to face Gale yet again, a man spoke up behind her.
“Princess? Ah, so this is where you were,” A giant man stood behind the woman. His face was gaunt and sunken, huge scar stretched across his temple to his forehead. The man also wore similar heavy armor to the… Princess.
“We’ve safely landed, so if Her Highness would please prepare for the speech.”
The Princess’s gaze softened, “...Muller. Very well, I’m ready.”
“Now Gale,” The Princess sharply turned, “You should head that way as well”
Muller directed his attention to Gale as well, “Another adventurer I presume? Many others have decided to join this perilous journey as well… No doubt drawn in by the treasures located within Lemuria…” He stared at Gale, almost trying to stare through her and discern why she had joined the expedition, “Then again, there’s no knowing if that can be said of everyone.”
Muller and Gale held each other’s gaze for several seconds. Neither showed signs of backing down. Until Muller smirked, “Never mind my rudeness, you should make your way to the town square as well, it’s just outside the ship’s bridge.”
Muller and the Princess walked down the hall, leaving Gale behind.
All she could do was sigh as the pressure left the room. Soon enough the ship mostly cleared out, and Gale left with the rest of the stragglers. As she left the ship Gale thought to herself, ...now where’s the closest bar...
