Kaia winced once more at her brothers tone, sighing softly as she bite into her toast. Chewing slowly before speaking again. "I wasn't suggesting there was, I was just asking..." She mutters, finger twirling around the a strand from the long bang that fell in front of her face. "Also. I kinda already guessed that was how Ame was born. You never did care for kids before. Always art art art. Art is an explosion!" Kaia struck a mock dramatic pose to imitate her brother. Unbeknownst to him, once she figured out that her dear twin was a part of the terrorist organization, she'd snuck off to do her own research. And to say she was amused of the pictures she had found was an understatement. She took the chance to stick her tongue out before giving up and laughing softly. "Sorry, that was lame... you were always ten times cooler than me." It's an effort to cheer him up, to not drag onto any more topics that he didn't want to talk about. They could save that for later when Ame woke up.
The sound of the toaster seemed to cause a comical reaction for them both. Kaia squeaked at the sudden sound, startled out of her own thoughts. Blushing as she accepted the offered plate silently.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so upset before…” She commented softly, referring to her nephew. Ame wasn’t one show much emotion or cry, so when he did, her heart immediately shattered. She wished so badly that she could take all of his pain away. She takes the jam once Deidara is done, smearing some on her own toast.
She’s quiet for a moments when her brother asks where Itachi had gone, hesitating for finally saying. “He went to the inn. I didn’t want him sleeping in the streets.” She didn’t think Ame would be very pleased either that his father was kicked out into the cold.
She takes a deep breath, preparing herself for the reaction she may get at her next question. “I know you already said he’s the reason why you joined the Akatsuki, but… what is your relationship with that man?”

Kaia's quiet, eyes locked onto her twin's hand as she dumps more sugar into his tea. Undoubtably making it sickenly sweet. She still wondered why he didn't just drink tea. She gently nuzzles her nose into Ame's soft little tuffs of hair before casting her gaze upwards, meeting Deidara's eyes once he's asked what she has been up to all this time. Releasing an awkward laugh at the attempted joke. "Yeah... I can't stand being in Iwa anymore, so I moved. To Hanano, uh, it's a small village with many flowers. I ended up opening a pottery shop when I was old enough. Painting lessons on the side. Made a lot of friend," Her smile widens slightly. "It's good, it was good... but..." She sighs softly, leaning back slightly. "I don't know, Dei, I think I'm having a crisis. I should be happy with the life I made for myself, but I'm not. One minute everything was fine, and the next it felt like everything was just weighting me down...."
Kaia winced at her brother's tone, but stays silent, letting him speak. Her eyes visibly get glossy as Deidara rants about his mistreatment, how his face scrunches up slightly as he does. She gives Ame a tiny squeeze to compose herself, taking a deep breath. The way everyone treated her was truly disgusting. And she felt so guilty for not doing anything. Or rather, not being able to do anything. She was Onoki's perfect little granddaughter. Never his favorite, but he had high expectations of her. If she'd tried to hurt anyone for mistreating her brother... kami, he would have had a lot to say. It was bad enough that he scolded her for calling one of the boys that bullied her twin a cunt. All because his parents were popular in the village too.
It was like he never cared. Or even liked the treatment that Deidara had received. Was he always truly that cruel? "I'm sorry for not protecting you..." Kaia would whisper softly, closing her eyes. "I was a naive little girl, who thought that following her grandfather's orders would somehow make everything better. But it never did. Sometimes, it felt like it just made everything worse." A hand gently rubs at her nephew's back, watching his sleeping little face. "You were my brother. I held you high above everyone else. I thought you were indestructible, when you were just as much of a person as everyone else. I should have done more. I shouldn't have been afraid of him. I'm so sorry..."

The tension suddenly comes back at force, as soon as they are left alone. Kaia doesn't meet his eyes, watching her sleeping little nephew. "I..." She starts, but trails off. Because she has no idea where to begin.
"...Why did you do it?" She finally decided. Refering to Iwa.
Kaia releases a quiet huff. Following after her twin as she gently bounces her nephew. "Oh?" The blonde has just finished up paying for her own things when Deidara asks about going to the cafe. "Sure, hn. I need some caffeine to wake me up anyway." She jokes, giving him a small smile. However, once she finally has the chance, she's fonding over Ame once more. Nuzzling her nose into his blonde and black hair. "Ooooh, you're so cute and cuddly, Ame~ I'm gonna be the best Auntie ever, hn!

Kaia was going go gently give her sleeping nephew back, but then the baby awoke. Grabbing at her twins hand, Deidara soon pulling back with a yelp.
It takes her a moment to realize that he’s bitten him, eyes widening at sight of blood dripping down her twins hand.
“Ame! That wasn’t very nice!” She scolds softly, suprised. “Are you alright?” He’s picking up her basket, so it must be. But Kaia still worries.
“Do you want me to go see if there’s a washroom so you can clean it up? I can go pay for everything.” At least she hoped.
