It's a few weeks before All In where Hook will face Jericho for the Ftw title, you and Hook watch from his locker room as Chris Jericho's interview starts; Renee puts the mic to her mouth "at this time I am joined by the Learning Tree" "Hey guys!" he yelled as he waved to the camera. Renee tried not to laugh as she continued "How do you expect to beat Hook at All In?" she asked as she moved the mic to his mouth."Hey guys!" he waved again. He continued "Renee as you know All In is in a few weeks and I will beat Hook because he forgot the lessons I taught him. But the rest is secret thanks, bye guys!" he said the last part enthusiastically and waved before he left with Big Bill.

Bryan Keith waited back for a few seconds looking at Renee then leaning in close to her as he yelled “You better respect Chris Jericho!” before walking away. When it went back to the commentary table I look over at Hook and we both laugh at how stupid Chris Jericho is. "Are you scheduled to fight tonight?" "No but I have a promo scheduled later though" "what time?" "9:30." I sat down with him on the couch watching the show until it was time for his promo, when the clocks hit 9:30 he got up walking to the door holding it open for me then walking out the door behind me shutting it behind him. He held my hand all the way to where we usually did the interviews but he let go as soon as when the camera started rolling.

"I am joined here by Hook with Y/n, now Hook you heard what Chris Jericho said earlier in the night do you care to respond?" "Chris Jericho I will get back my Ftw title and cut down all your branches on the way too. All In." he said the last part pointing at the camera. When the interview ended Hook and I went back to his locker room for the rest of the show, he looked over at me "I fight Big Bill next week and you will stay here during my match" "but-" "no, do you understand me Y/n?" "yes" "now at All In you can sit at the commentary table with Taz ok?" "ok"

You stood with Hook in his locker room while he got ready, he looked over at you "what color babe?" he asked as he held up blue shorts in one hand and grayish-silver in the other hand. "Do the gray" you told him as you was getting TV ready. You fixed his eye patch to waste time as the Learning Tree did their entrance. When it was Hook's turn you walked on the side as he walked down the ramp, You sat at the commentary table next to your soon to be father in law Taz as Hook got in the ring. You put the headset on as the match begun, You look over at Taz "hi honey" "hi" you replied happily.

Towards the beginning of the match Jericho put Cricked balls onto the mat which made you question it, but learning from wrestling some things are just better not asked about or left unsaid. Hook got out the ring grabbing a Cricket bat and 'oh no' was all you could think to yourself. He started smacking everyone with it then started picking up the Cricket balls and started flinging them at all three of them, you couldn't hold in your laughter anymore. After he did that he went behind Jericho choking him with the Cricket bat yelling "hey guys! Hey guys!" mocking Jericho as you laughed harder adding in "hey guys!"

"C'mon Hook!" you yell to encourage him to get up as he was getting jumped by Bill and Bryan. Hook got back in the ring swinging wildly missing as he got smacked on the head with the trashcan, Jericho missed the Judas Effect going straight into a T-bone suplex by Hook. Hook go up taking off the eye patch yelling "I can see!" pointing at his eye. Towards the end of the match Taz got up putting Bryan in his submission letting Hook get the win by Red Rum. Taz backed up so you could hug Hook first, Hook walked up to you kissing your head then hugged you for a few seconds as you took off the headset.

He walked over to Taz hugging him until he decided to take you backstage, he wanted to be alone with you in his locker room. Even though he is very public about kissing your head or his arm being around you, everything else is behind closed doors; he is a very private person. He wanted to do this next part privately, you turn around to look for something and you couldn't find it so you turn back around to face him to see him down on one knee with a small box; it had the most beautiful engagement ring you have ever seen. I'm a bit confused by Tony's current direction of this booking. Why so many old wrestlers are taking up TV time on AEW.

Wasn't AEW built on the premise of a place for the young and hungry wrestlers?

Why's Jeff Jarrett taking TV time in 2025? Why are we still forced to endure Chris Jericho's existence?

As much as I love Cope and Christian, do we really need another Ex-WWE star as AEW Champion?

This is kind of why I wanted Hobbs to win. I knew he wouldn't cause the DR storyline is still ongoing, but at least it would've been someone who's actually young and as close to homegrown as you can get.

I wish Tony loved his AEW centric roster as much as his ex-WWE heroes.

Absolutely don’t agree with this. Because when AEW has done nothing but give relevance to the young athletes, a lot of people still complain about “I don’t know anyone”, “AEW doesn’t have recognizable faces”, “who are these people?”.

I hate Jarret, but I still think this is because she is probably retiring and MJF will be his last match. Agree with Jericho (like we all do). Copeland is not winning at all. Christian has barely had a huge relevance in the show for weeks now.

And even though we have these people, we have lots of young guys still having tv time. Women and men. I criticize a lot of things in AEW, but I honestly believe the veterans and young wrestlers have had an almost equal amount of tv time.

I am jumping back and forth in gorilla waiting to make my entrance for my match against Ruby Soho. My music hits and I make my entrance. The Outcasts make their entrance after mine. Saraya throws me back into the ring and runs off with the rest of The Outcasts being chased by Britt and Jamie to the back. The ref counts out Ruby making me win the match. I am laying in the ring coughing when the lights go off. I feel someone's hand grip onto my hair pulling me up onto their leg while they are crouched down. I let out a loud scream trying to get out. The lights come back on and I am looking up at none other than Chris Jericho. He has my hair gripped so I am looking up at him. I am breathing hard looking up at him slightly kicking my feet. The JerichoPunk timeline (uninformed, unreferenced, according to my memory):

Jericho and Punk have a feud in WWE which like many good feuds is about Punk's alcoholic dad and the *issues*. Jericho repeatedly douses him in alcohol on RAW and on house shows. Punk's sister slaps Jericho. They wanted to have Jericho tattoo his name on Punk in the ring but Vince vetoed it because of the blood and because he's stupid and didn't fucking get it.

Punk defeats Jericho at Wrestlemania 28, by the end of which Jericho gives him "thanks for the good match" scritches. Jericho denies this despite it happening in full view of the camera. We all saw it, Chris.

Punk has a miserable time at WWE working through injuries and a misdiagnosed staph infection which could have killed him.

Punk walks out of RAW and disappears.

WWE fires Punk on his wedding day.

Punk spills the tea about leaving WWE on Colt Cabana's podcast. He also says Chris Jericho is lying to the dirt sheets about him no longer having friends in wrestling and that he simply ignored people who wanted him to be on their podcast for their own agenda and cloud and didn't actually care about him.

Jericho says that wasn't him asking Punk about appearing on his podact and that he has no agenda.

Punk and Colt are sued by one doctor who treated, or rather did not treat, Punk at WWE. Punk and Colt win the case but have a falling out over lawyer fees.

In 2020 Jericho donates $38,360 to Trump's campaign.

In 2021 Jericho's wife is photographed at the Capitol storming.

Punk returns to AEW.

Punk and Jericho are briefly on commentary together. Jericho appears to want to strike up conversations with Punk, who is clearly focused on playing his role as someone actually interested in the Darby/Garcia match he is watching. Jericho mentions being slapped by Punk's sister to both of their amusement.

In an interview Punk mentions that it's so interesting that now that he's in AEW he's working alongside people who could have spoken up for him back when he was being sued by WWE but chose not to.

Rumours about Punk getting Colt Cabana off TV are leaked through Meltzer.

During the All Out 2022 media scrum, an injured Punk burns the barn, right in front of everyone, while the farm owner sits next to him, sheepishly agreeing that it's Punk's right to burn the barn. Then Punk returns to his locker room, where he gets into a physical altercation with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega over burning the barn. A while later Chris Jericho is sitting next to the farm owner at the media scrum with a strange smile on his lips.

Punk disappears.

Jericho tells Meltzer that on the night of the brawl he called Punk a locker room cancer and, like, was totally there during the brawl out, and basically this story is about him. An internal investigation into the events of the brawl out is made, the results of which have not been shared yet, but the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are back, Punk is out due to injury, and his attack dog Ace Steel, who was also involved in the brawl, is fired from AEW.

Jericho retweets a clip from his match with Punk at Wrestlemania 28 saying he "always loved working with @CMPunk... [sic]".

Punk posts an ig story, refuting a Meltzer forum post that claims he was being flaky about jobbing for Moxley and ends it by calling Jericho "a liar and a stooge."

Jericho says that it doesn't matter if you don't like someone in the locker room, as long as you can work together.

Scenarios for Punk's return are being discussed and a meeting between Punk and Jericho has supposedly been planned. Rumours have it TK bought them a get along shirt.

My review of Double or Nothing 2024

Overall PPV Rating- 8.5/10 stars

In-Depth look under the cut.

I'll start with the pre-show matches.

Deonna vs Rosa- 8/10 stars. Really solid match for a pre-show bout. Both Deonna and Rosa got some good spots in. I was sure that Rosa was going to win, but Deonna pulled one out from under her. I'm expecting the fued to continue until maybe a street fight of some sort between them. It was a good opener to a night of action.

The Acclaimed vs Cage of Agony- 7/10 stars. Max Caster my beloved. Loved the rap and the shenanigans as always. Action was chaotic in a good way. Brian Cage never fails to amaze me with his insane build. Dude is a monster. Very entertaining match to watch.

Now onto the Main Card

Roddy vs Will- 9/10 stars. Almost a perfect match! William Ospreay you are allergic to having a bad match. The actions was entertaining and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I got to see Matt Taven be sexy which is always a bonus. (Mr. Taven please call me) I can't wait to see what kind bangers Will is going to put on now that he's champion.

Post-Roddy/Will shenanigans- ADAM COLE BAY BAY. So happy to see my sinster short king back and ready to cause problems. also. MJF YOU SEXY BITCH. Love the new tattoo pookie!! I can't wait to see the post breakup between these two get MESSY.

Bang Bang Gang vs Death Triangle- 8/10 stars. Jay and Pac aka my two fav greasy little bastard men going at it! Great to see Penta and Fenix back in action again! Death Triangle is so cool. The Gunn bros were chaotic lil weasels as well. They are learning from mother Jay White. and JUICE ROBINSON MY GREMLIN MAN!!! WELCOME BACK POOKIE!!

Orange Cassidy v Trent Baretta- 8/10 stars. Emo Orange you are so special to me. My heart hurts seeing them be mean to one another and I might have cried a little bit. Great match between two men that used to be so close! Emotional for everyone.

Toni Storm vs Serena Deeb- 6/10 stars. I didn't pay that much attention to this match tbh. Serena Deeb is boring to watch if you ask me. Girl had no chemistry with Toni. I did enjoy Nigel being a simp on comms though. And seeing Mariah and Toni be gay is always a plus! Most boring match of the night but still a solid one.

Jericho vs HOOK vs Shibata- 5/10 stars. The action in the ring was good. However, TONY KHAN YOU WILL PAY FOR NOT ONLY LETTING CHRIS FUCKING JERICHO KEEP THAT BELT. BUT ALSO MAKING FUCKING SHIBATA TAKE THE PIN AND RUINING BRYAN KEITH FOR ME.

Adam Copeland vs Malakai Black- 9/10 stars. It would have been a perfect match but Malakai lost so. This was a match for the sickos and i ATE IT UP. Blood! Violence! Religious Symbolism!! It had IT ALL. RIP to Adam's knees after jumping off the cage. Also welcome back Grangrel you funky vampire man! The fake-out apot with Brody and Buddy was dope. I got swerved hard with that one. Second best match of the night if you ask me.

Willow vs Mercedes- 7/10 stars. I'm pressed as fuck that Willow lost. The action was solid. You know these girls dont play in the ring. I get that Mercedes is supposed to be a huge star. But my girl Willow got ROBBED. And you take away Kris and Stoke from her??? We can't have nice things in this house.

Swerve vs Christian- 7/10 stars. This was also a solid match. Swerve ddin't get to be nearly as unhinged as i'd of liked. But thats fine. It was fun seeing the shenanigans with Mama Wayne, Nick, and Luchasaurus! Match had me second guessing Swerve winning a couple of times I'll admit.

Anarchy in the Arena- 10/10 stars. BEST MATCH OF THE NIGHT. Oh my god this whole match was INSANE. It baffles me that Darby Allin is even walking after everything that he's gone through then he comes out and does insane shit like this?? Getting hit by a bus? Hanged??? Sir, please seek help. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!! I'm looking forward to seeing this Bucks gimmick end. I hate it. Cringe. All the spots were great! Had me engaged the whole time.

AEW Double-or-Nothing Preview

AEW, a company that has been circling the drain for five years, has another premium live event tonight, so I'm going to spend my short time on earth dunking on a show I don't watch.

When Chris Jericho was in WWE, he was a legend and the first ever Undisputed Champion, but in AEW, he's the guy who had a mediocre WrestleMania 18 main event. A title with the prestigious lineage of the For the World Championship shouldn't be defended in a triple-threat match, against a guy with a generic "The Wrestler" gimmick and Hook, who will definitely be in WWE next month. This Shibata guy probably wins because he seems like Meltzer fave and that's the only person Tony Khan books for.

Ugh, Dean Ambrose has fallen so far that AEW had to make up yet another title just to give him something to do. He isn't even defending this made up belt against this guy I've never heard of! 🤣😂🤣 Anyway, this Takeshita guy definitely wins because champions always lose nontitle matches to build to rematches. Obvious. 🥱

Jeeze, will AEW please fire whoever is in their graphics department? They can't even be bothered to color in their Women's Champion! 🤣😂🤣 Anyway, Toni Storm isn't getting a reaction from the crowd, and Deeb, despite being a poor worker, is a natural babyface, so Tony should switch the title here because it is time to shake things up.

An absolute waste of natural superstar Roderick Strong who could be main eventing an important show like Main Event if he had stayed in WWE, yet here he is in the minor leagues babysitting a rookie who tattooed an attendance figure on his arm. I don't know, man. Will Ospreay just isn't developing as a star and really should have gone to NXT. Tony Khan probably puts the title on Ospreay here, even though he is completely not ready to be in that big of a spotlight. Expect a lot of blown spots. At least it will give AEW Botches plenty of content! 😂🤣😂

Why is this a premium-live event match?? These guys go out there and kill the ratings every week (according to the old guy podcast I follow), and and there is a absolutely no story. This is just a match happening to have a match with guys who get no reaction from the crowd. I know, I know, AEW is just indie wrestling workrate garbage, but a little sports entertainment wouldn't kill them. This is a good time to take a bathroom break without missing anything. Orange Cassidy probably wins, continuing Tony Khan shoving his pet projects down our throat

Trios match going to be so boring fr fr 🥱🥱

Another match with zero story?? Classic AEW!! 🤣😂🤣 Edge is an absolute legend who wrestled The Greatest Wrestling Match of All Time with Randy Orton, but he has done nothing since going to AEW. No feuds with his best friend. No being corrupted by Malakai's influence, possibly reverting him to being the evil Master Manipulator he used to be. Zero stakes, but AEW will probably paint over all of their botches with blood. I guess Edge wins, but it's really hard to care with nothing on the line.

Although I'm not watching this show, I'm still boycotting this match. The Young Bucks are the worst thing in wrestling. They can't work. They get zero reaction. And I think it's disgusting how they personally fired Cody Rhodes. Even worse, they are now featuring Jack Perry, a man who went up to famously good dude CM Punk and bullied Punk until the Bucks could personally fire him. Absolutely disgusting behavior, and their partner Kazuchika Okada is some indie loser no one has ever heard of. I feel so sorry for Daniel Bryan. He has to team with some goth kid trying to be Cora Jade and two guys who look like a diet version of The Revival. Let's just get through this mess so Bryan can get back to WWE and get his career back on track.

Mercedes Mone is a megastar, but her handling in AEW has been so, so bad.

Like, Mone is getting boos. She is your obvious babyface because she is the bigger star, and she is getting booed. Do you know how hard it is to get fans to turn like that?? Either Willow Nightingale has done a fantastic job getting people behind her (which, lol, I can't allow that possibility to fit into my worldview) or AEW is total garbage and will be dead by August. Expect an absolute heatless mess as the crowd hijacks this. Mercedes should win and be booked to be invincible, going over all of these AEW losers, but who knows what cocaine-addled Tony Khan will actually do?

How depressing is this?

Since winning the title last month, Swerve has barely been on the shows. If AEW were really behind him, he would be on practically every show, every week. He would be the focus in the opening segments. They would do countdown timers to his matches. He would be involved, even loosely, with the most important storylines like what is going on with The Elite. He would be facing adversity like having the stablemates he neglected turn on him.

But, no, I have seen none of that happen as I spend my Wednesday nights hate posting.

And, so, Swerve is defending his title against an absolutely heatless tag team wrestler, Christian Cage, who hasn't done anything of note since the TLC matches of the early 2000s. Why would anyone care? Swerve has no history with any members of Cage's Patriarchy, especially not Nick Wayne who got attacked in his own home and bloodied in his dead father's ring last year. Swerve and Cage never lost a high-profile tag team match at AEW's biggest show, which also happened to be the time Swerve turned on his friend AR Fox to side with Christian Cage which might matter if Swerve were doing a redemption arc. Just . . . I don't know. This is a perfect example of why no one in the r/AEWSucks subreddit cares about AEW.

So, there you have it, one more AEW premium live event that no one will care about or even watch. If you want to see some actually good wrestling with stories, you should check out yesterday's King and Queen of the Ring from Saudi Arabia and certainly not AEW Double or Nothing LIVE on PPV and Bleacher Report from Las Vegas, Nevada.

I am so excited for this ppv and I have to much energy on myself so, deal with it

Tornado Tag Match Sting's Last Match - Darby Allin & Sting (AEW Tag Team Champions) VS Golf Trainers- oh sorry- AEW EVP'S Matthew & Nicholas Jackson

Let's start with the cherry on the top, I am so ready to cry on this match, even knowing that most likely Sting will appear again on AEW but not wrestling again

But for sure, 100% that the not Young Bucks anymore will win this match - I mean if its Sting's last match will Darby defend both belts alone?? I mean he is capable of it. but come on, one last match of this amazing tag team against the non Young Bucks is the perfect finish for this era

AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Samoa Joe (C) VS Swerve Strickland VS Hangman Adam Page

Everyone is imagining that it will Swerve versus Hangman and Samoa Joe will be like third wheeling or something like that

this one will be pretty intense both men fighting for the gold and Samoa Joe defending it

I really want Swerve to win it but I think Samoa Joe will retain it, I mean it's the first ppv that he defends it

AEW WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - "Timeless" Toni Storm (C) VS Deonna Purrazo

Besides the Zero Hour one with Kris and Willow versus Julia Hart and Skye Blue, this is the only women´s match on the ppv..........come on AEW, your women's division is so freaking powerful and you still don´t know how to properly promoted, and we are on the International Women's month, come on......

I think Deonna Purrazo will win it for sure, but if Toni retains it I am so excited to see how this feud will keep going, because this feud was so well played, I am more than seated for this match

The So Called Rub of Jericho

I wasn’t always a full time AEW viewer, in fact I began watching regularly in the summer of 2022. What attracted me was Eddie Kingston. 

Eddie had the physique of a plumber, the gear of an indie guy who forgot his main attire at home so he scrapped together what he could find, and the speech of an angry New Yorker who spent the days yelling at kids on his stoop. That is what makes him so appealing. At the time, Kingston was feuding with Chris Jericho and his faction The Jericho Appreciation society. This faction had some of the guys from the previous Jericho stable, The Inner Circle, with some new additions in 2.0 and Daniel Garcia. The gimmick: Sports Entertainers who hated wrestling. If it sounds like an obnoxious WWE parody, then you’re right it was. You got the joke immediately and did not have room for expansion, they were guys who dressed in goofy matching outfits and “entertained” that’s really it. Kingston would get back up from the Blackpool Combat Club and LAX (Santana and Ortiz). They would do Anarchy in the Arena and Blood n Guts. The feud had strong moments with Kingston walking down the ramp during AitA, blood on his face, a cold dead stare, and a canister of gasoline and Kingston and Co. winning the BnG match. 

However it would have the stankest, wettest fart of an ending where Jericho and Kingston would have an abysmal barb wire match that saw Jericho winning with botches a plenty. Kingston would go on to get in a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara who provoked him. He was in the wrong to get physical with someone who is an aggravating little turd, and he would tell you that himself. A suspension would follow and Kingston gave a half sincere apology on the short lived AEW reality tv show to which I do not care enough to look up the name. 

This is what feuding with Jericho does to an M. F. 

Kingston is not the only victim I saw fall to Jericho, Daniel Garcia is another name that comes to mind. Garcia was the young blood of the JAS. Originally under the tutelage of 2.0 and then absorbed into the JAS. He’s a gifted technical wrestler, but was a SANADA type, who did not really have any personality but was good at the graps. The goal, at least what we the viewers assumed was the goal, was to make Garcia a new bright star. He became the center of the JAS vs BCC feud, with Danielson wanting him to join their stable as he saw the potential in him. Garcia would get a clean win over Dragon and even went after the ROH Pure Title. The Dynamite where he challenged for the belt saw him get a special entrance coming out to DR BIRDS by Westside Gunn (the Jack Nicholson of Wrestling [thanks Olly!]).

 This was in his hometown, and he got the victory, this should’ve been his star making moment. Until the swerve happened. What we thought was going to be him breaking away from Jericho he would continue to be his underling, he lost the belt back to Wheeler Yuta, his momentum came to a screeching halt, but hey at least he dances funny now! Garcia has been mostly another guy with a dumb gimmick that makes him meme worthy. This misusage can be pointed at Jericho, but Tony Khan is equally as guilty.

Jericho would also go on to win the ROH World Title. Weirdly, he would have straightforward clean wins over previous ROH champions/regulars and one Tomohiro Ishii. Among these matches Jericho would have another worst match of the year contender with Colt Cabana. One that is meant for the boys.

 A rib directed to a extremely disgruntled CM Punk. To be fair, Cabana was wearing the wrong socks which messed up his flow (be patient he’s only been wrestling for a few measly decades) but for Jericho what was his excuse? Jericho would get a “win” over Danielson, Castagnoli, and Guevara at Full Gear (140,000 buys) but then unceremoniously lose it at ROH Final Battle (25,400 buys hm wonder why he would drop it on such a low buyrate) to the guy he beat for it rather than put over someone new. Going by Cagematch Jericho would only lose 4 singles matches. Sure you want to keep someone like Jericho strong, especially since he's a former world champion. However, that number is insanely protective of a 53 year old guy who’s at the tail end of his career. 

Jericho would try to make up for this, spending 2023 losing more than winning. It was not great. 

Right after losing the ROH belt, Jericho would put over an unknown Action Andretti in a shocking upset.

 Action Andretti in 2023 is 10-16 and most of his matches are in ROH. Ricky Starks would have an amazing showing in his world title match, and to follow that up he would have to do his time with Jericho. He would beat Jericho on his first encounter and then go on to beat him once again at Revolution. It felt like a waste of time, the matches were not spectacular, Ricky was going downhill and thankfully Collision would save his heat, but there’s strong rumors regarding his departure for the WWE. 

His next victim was Adam Cole, and Keith Lee who already struggles to get on booked on TV had to lay down for Jericho to sell this program. Jericho would team up with (read: try to get in on Saraya’s heel turn heat) The Outcasts to beat up Britt Baker to give Cole some character motivation.

 The segment where The Outcasts and JAS hate-crimed Baker and Cole was strange to me, because the JAS have two female wrestlers in their ranks. It is as if Jericho simply forgot about them. To give Cole and Jericho’s matchup more juice, TK brought in Sabu and the match was made an unsanctioned match (but was aired on PPV?). The match was bad, and the feud forgotten. Luckily for Cole, he is so over that he moved onto to have one of the best programs with MJF. 

Following this Jericho would face off against Sting for a mini feud, but the Jericho Rub could not harm Sting because he is Sting. Simple As.

Enter Don Callis. He betrayed Kenny Omega during the BCC vs Elite Feud and replaced him with Takeshita as the wrestler he would be the personal manager to. He became the most hated heel in the company and having personally sat in the crowd where he had his first town hall as a heel, I can confirm the boos were deafening. Callis would then reach out to Jericho to join the Don Callis Family faction and Jericho was going to join. Jericho would team up with Takeshita and cheat to beat Guevara and Garcia. This would lead to the break up of the JAS, where all members sans Jericho and Guevara would continue to team with each other almost like they just became the *AS. 

Then Callis saw his cronies give a beat down on Jericho, which I must applaud Jericho’s ability to find himself working with the most over acts in the company, he always finds a way to involve himself. Hell he even pitched a program with a returning CM Punk which I no do not doubt would have been the worst wrestling match ever put on American broadcasting! Jericho is a shark and if there’s blood in the water he will find it. Jericho joined the Elite vs Callis feud, and even faced a Will Ospreay at All In. The build to this match was baffling. Ospreay is practically a heelish face in NJPW. He was the face in the match against Kenny at Wrestle Kingdom, and mostly works face. However he’s heel in AEW. Sure he worked heel vs Kenny at Forbidden Door since Canada, but the build to All In saw him be a heel. Then at All In he’s a face since London! What is going on! Jericho just turned face! Now he’s doing heel tactics and even said at the aftermath Dynamite he should have cheated??? Who wrote this?? At least Ospreay went back to NJPW and is finishing up his run there.

Jericho and Sammy would have tension teasing some kind of split. Now before I go any further, I must preface: I do not like Sammy Guevara. He is an overused, overexposed, mishandled and misbooked worker who represents zero IQ wrestling psychology. He’s a terrible promo and has terrible character work. He has attempted to turn face only to go back to heel because when he tries cutting a face promo and you can hear the simultaneous clicks of remote buttons to change it to Family Feud. 

Having said that, even I thought it was egregious for Jericho to beat Sammy. How does one man spend all year losing draw the line at his understudy? Guevara suffered a concussion during this Jericho and Kenny vs Don Callis, and is out on paternity leave. Who knows when Jericho will do him right, perhaps never. 

Jericho and Kenny have been teaming, they beat the Young Bucks for their Title Contendership and are now facing Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the Tag Team Championship. Starks and Bill have been giving beatdowns to Kenny and Jericho to build for the match. They even had the worst, and I mean this with all my heart, the worst in ring promo battle I have ever seen. Awful jokes, no selling insults, and doubling down on lines that did not land with the crowd. The look on Kenny’s face screams that he is checked out. 

However, as of writing this, Kenny is now out on injury for an indefinite amount of time. Jericho is now lost in the wind and I imagine both Starks and Bill are relieved. 

Jericho has proven this past year to not be any benefit to anyone he works with. He finds out who is the most over and tries to get in on their overness despite it making sense. All of his programs seem slapped together, as if Tony allows him to plan out his angles without any pushing back. I imagine he pitches these to guys who may want to have the opportunity to work with someone with decades of experience, but they do not see through him as a clout vampire. The goal of Jericho is how can I keep myself on TV, he has DEMO GOD plastered on himself for crying out loud! 

His character is supposed to be an aging rockstar who desperately clinging on for dear life, but it does not help when that is just who he is in real life. With Kenny out, what is next for Jericho? Hopefully retirement.

The Outlaw Championship: The Story Of The FTW Championship

In honor of ECW Legend, ‘ The Human Suplex Machine ’, Tazz’s birthday today , I wanted to take some time and write this article about the FTW Championship. This article explains what the championship really is and how it was used before it was retired this year .

The FTW ( Fuck The World ) Championship was created by Tazz in 1998 , to be used as a part of storylines in Extreme Championship Wrestling. However, it was used as a championship in order to drop storylines that involved wrestlers who were out of action due to an injury . The FTW Championship was used when Tazz and Al Snow missed Wrestlepalooza 1998. Nevertheless, it was also used when Shane Douglas, the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, was out of action due to suffering an elbow injury and battling a severe sinus infection. The championship was also used as a hardcore championship with “ FTW Rules ”. This means that there are no disqualifications, and no count outs. Weapons could also be used during a match with those rules .

The FTW Championship was also known as the Brooklyn Championship and was introduced by Tazz at ECW’s ‘ It Ain’t Seinfeld ’ show on May 14,1998. As a part of the storyline , Tazz was angry due to not being able to have a match with Shane Douglas for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Douglas refused to face Tazz. Thus, he was sidelined due to an injury . Tazz declared himself the ‘ real ’ ECW World Heavyweight Championship before unveiling the FTW Championship to defend. He would say that the ECW fans would love the message he sent with the championship. The message was meant for society. Therefore , Tazz believed that the FTW Championship was more important than the actual ECW World Heavyweight Championship. It was considered ‘ illegitimate’ by ECW Management.

Tazz only lost the championship one time one December 19,1998. He lost it in singles competition against Sabu. Tazz felt that he would defeat Shane Douglas in a future ECW World Heavyweight Championship match , therefore , he felt that he no longer needed to be FTW Champion. He would become the FTW Champion again at the Living Dangerously Pay Per View in 1999. He would unify the FTW and ECW World Heavyweight Championships after defeating Sabu in a Title Vs Title Match. The FTW Championship was retired the same year as he began defending the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. The FTW Championship would not be included in the assets of ECW that were sold to WWE in 2001 as it is personal property of Tazz, who owns the rights to it.

The FTW Championship was be revived in All Elite Wrestling in 2020 with Tazz rewarding it to Brian Cage, the wrestler he was a manager for. This would happen due to Cage not being able to face AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley , who had to quarantine due to his wife , Renee, testing positive for COVID. Tazz would also start providing commentary after being signed to AEW . As it was in ECW, it wasn’t considered a ‘ legitimate’ championship by Tony Khan and AEW management. Other FTW Champions in AEW include Ricky Starks , Jack Perry, and Tazz’s son , Hook. Chris Jericho would become FTW Champion after beating Hook at AEW Dynasty and rename the championship, the ‘ For The World ’ Championship, as a part of his Learning Tree gimmick.

Hook would win the championship his father created back from Jericho and the original meaning behind the championship would be reinstated . Hook retired the FTW Championship on September 25,2024 at AEW Grand Slam after defeating Roderick Strong. He would embrace his father with a hug after winning the match and return the championship, where it would be retired .

My Final Thoughts:

I think that the FTW Championship is a huge staple in the history of pro wrestling. It showed that you didn’t need a company championship to be a champion. Tazz will forever be a legend just for creating this championship. I am also happy knowing that a new generation of fans got to know what the title is due to AEW . So, happy birthday, Tazz!

FOUR-TIME WWE World champion Batista is one of the federation’s most bankable superstars. Whether he’s squaring off with heels such as Chris Jericho or taking on a fellow fan favorite such as John Cena, he never loses his trademark intensity in the squared circle. 

Out of the ring, Batista remains one of the WWE’s most quietly effective promo men. His calm, confident demeanor conveys an image of someone who doesn’t need to shout to get a point across. While he’s generally soft-spoken in his delivery, Batista almost never holds back or sugarcoats his view about other wrestlers or the business in general. 

“The Animal” has recently taken a detour in his pursuit of a fifth title reign to renew hostilities with longtime rival Randy Orton. The two have been on opposite sides of the fence every since the breakup of Evolution, and whenever they’ve been on the same WWE brand or interpromotional pay-per-view event, a Batista-Orton clash never seems far away, even when they’re feuding with other wrestlers.

Batista recently took part in a bout that had special meaning to him, defeating Manu in the latter’s Raw debut. Batista, who was trained by Manu’s father, Wild Samoan Afa, has always paid homage to the role Afa played in his development. 

[“I suppose Orton thinks going after me makes a statement that he’s ready to push for another title shot. I’m ready for anything Orton does. We’ll see how ready he is for me.”]

Veteran wrestling reporter Matt Brock recently sat down with Batista to discuss his World championship aspirations, the feud with Orton, and the experience of opposing Manu. As usual, Batista gave straightforward answers to even the most probing of questions.

Q: Dave, it seems like your path and Randy Orton’s will keep crossing whenever you’re in the same place at the same time. Four years ago, there was a red hot debate as to whether you or he would be the bigger long=term star in WWE. In the time since then, I’d say you’ve had the upper hand. 

A: Without trying to sound arrogant about it, I’d agree. I’ve been more consistent, although it took me a while to recover from that torn triceps a few years ago. Orton has been a lot more up and down, while I’ve usually been either the guy on top or right in the title mix.

Q: Clearly he sees you as one of the main obstacles to another title reign. Do you feel the same?

A: I can only speak for myself. My own goal, of course, is to eventually regain the belt, and a healthy Randy Orton is always a threat to win the title. I suppose Orton thinks going after me makes a statement that he's ready to push for another title shot. I'm ready for anything Orton does. We’ll see how ready he is for me. 

Q:  Are you concerned at all that Orton has more to gain from a feud with you right now than you do with him? After all, you were fighting title matches with Chris Jericho when Orton provoked you. He needed to go through you, not the other way around. 

A: I hear you, but that’s not how I look at it. I’d run into Orton sooner or later, and I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. So it might as well be now.

In his most recent feud with Chris Jericho, Batista saw both the highs and lows of the business. One minute he was winning the World championship, and the very next he was losing it right back to Jericho. ]

Q: Even when you feuded with Triple-H and Ric Flair, the mutual respect level was obvious. That’s not necessarily the case with Orton, is it?

A: Let me put it this way. I’m a confident guy, and so is he. But here’s the difference. I was taught very early on, by Afa, Flair, and other guys, that it’s a privilege to wrestle and the best way to learn is by paying respect to the guys who’ve succeeded for years. I admire the true pros. I think anyone who has watched Randy Orton over the years knows that he thinks the world revolves around him, as if he was perfect in his first match, and steadily improved from there. 

Q: I’d like to try something here. I’ll give you my scouting report of Batista vs. Orton, and you can tell me where you agree or disagree with my assessment. 

A: No problem. Go ahead. 

Q: Let’s start with the no-brainers. He’s 28 and just entering his prime, and you’re 39, so he gets the edge in youth. You’ve got the edge in power in terms of technical ability and pure athleticism, I’d give him the edge. 

A: I’d agree with that. Yeah, for sure. He’s one of those guys who looks like he was born to wrestle professionally, even apart from his family background. I wasn't a natural at this, so I learned to compensate by using my size and strength to my advantage. I think I'm ok technically, and that took a whole, but my bread and butter is always going to be my power, and also my heart. No question. 

[Batista is willing to face opponents of any size, and his determination to win never changes. No matter if they are as massive as The Big Show (above) or as quick as Rey Mysterio Jr. (below), Batista has a custom strategy for every wrestler he faces.]

Q: In terms of intangibles in the ring, though, I’d give you the advantage. The biggest reason is that you seem to have more built-in respect for your opponent’s capabilities, whereas Orton is still so wrapped up in himself that he refuses to adjust.

A: Yeah, well, that’s something that goes back to Evolution. Everyone thought Triple-H, Flair, and me were just jealous when Randy became the youngest World champion in WWE history, but we all thought he won the belt a little too soon for his own good. To have staying power, you’ve got to prepare a little different for every opponent. THere are adjustments to make. Flair told Orton that, and told me that. Triple-H told both of us that, too. I took it seriously, Randy thought he knew better than the veterans. It’s only been very recently that I think Orton has reached that next level. To be honest with you, I think he’s better prepared for big matches now than he was then. If he stays healthy, I think he’ll be a more consistent wrestler than he used to be. Give credit where it’s due. He had a hell of a year before the collarbone injury. 

Q: Will you go right after the collarbone? 

A: Hell, yes. I’d be foolish not to do that, Matt. Everyone knows it, including Orton, so I’m not giving anything away to say that my game plan is to make him prove he’s going to hold up physically after the injury. I won’t do anything fancy, just stick with what works. I’ll bodyslam or armbar him every chance I get, lean on his neck and shoulders and force him to use his upper body whenever possible. He’s a big guy, but I’ve got the height and weight advantage on him. 

[If Batista wants to become a five-time world champion, he’s going to have to get through former Evolution partner Randy Orton. RKO has had his eyes on Batista, but he better be careful: This Animal doesn’t take kindly to being in anyone’s crosshairs.]

Q: We talked a little bit about making adjustments. You are more of a straight-up power wrestler than anything else, but what are some of the specific adjustments you have to make to go up against guys like Orton, Chris Jericho, or The Big Show? 

A: With the super-heavyweights like Big Show, you want to get them down on the mat and work their back or their legs. For a guy like me, it’s tempting to try to test my power, but going in, I know I might not be able to use my Batista bomb finisher or a bodyslam. Even if i do execute it, it saps a lot  of energy, so I’d better be sure the guy is totally set up for it. With guys who are smaller than me, it’s the opposite. I don’t want to get worn down, and I need to use my own size advantage. 

Q: Do you see a fifth world championship reign in your future?

A: That’s my plan, yeah. In this business, 39 isn’t old, so long as you stay healthy. I have a lot of good years left if I play my cards right. Right now, I feel really good. 

Q: Did it have any special meaning to you to be tabbed to go up against Afa’s son, Manu, in his first Raw match?

A: Definitely. He’s got a lot of potential, and it’s no secret that I admire the hell out of Afa  and owe him a debt of gratitude for giving me my own start. Afa knows that I wasn’t about to let up on Manu because of who his dad is. He would have been disappointed in me if i wrestled Manu any differently.

Q: Who knows, maybe someday you’ll have a kid in wrestling and Manu can pay his respects to you by beating the hell out of your kid.

A: [Laughs] Yeah, that’s how it goes in this business. Trust me, Manu is going to be a real handful as he continues maturing in the ring.

Q: One final question. You’ve never really  had any pretensions of being a crossover star, yet you’ve appeared on Family Feud, MTV Cribs, and even appeared at the presidential convention to encourage people to vote. Does that sort of recognition ever surprise you?

A: Here’s how I look at it. I make a great living in this business, and I’m proud of what I do. I owe everything I have to wrestling, and that’s the truth. It’s an honor to represent the business, and I take that seriously.

Why I started watching WWE again

The earliest memory I have of professional wrestling is The Undertaker/Yokozuna feud. This fond memory was the catalyst to moulding my enjoyment to this form of entertainment.

Years later I began watching WWE/WWF on a full-time basis because it was aired weekend mornings. The Stone Cole Steve Austin/Vince McMahon feud hooked me. As a child, it was an awesome to see an authority type figure getting their ass kicked. Both McMahon and Austin produced classics moments in wrestling history. I bought PPV’s on VHS such as St Valentine’s Day Massacre. I must of watched that tape a couple of times a day over the next few weeks.

WWE became a part of my life. I made it my business to watch Raw and Smackdown every week; I even watched Velocity and Sunday Night Heat. I couldn't get enough! I tried to get my hands on stuff from independents and in 2004 I did some pro wrestling training. But if WWE was such an important part of my life then why did I stop watching it?

2017 wasn’t the worst year in WWE. The Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens feud was fantastic, The Hardyz returned, Kurt Angle was inducted into the Hall of Fame, The Shield reunited, and Samoa Joe made his debut. Despite all of this, a babyface Roman Reigns just couldn’t get over and Jinder Mahal was WWE Champion. I’m not even going to go into the House of Horrors match, but it was something. But it’s OK to have bad moments. They can teach you to never repeat those mistakes again…or can they?

2018 was worse. Some moments left a bad taste in my mouth such as Dean Ambrose turning heel on his fellow Shield member, Seth Rollins. This was the same night that Roman announced that he had leukemia. What the fuck was Vince thinking? The storyline was uglier than a dog’s dinner. Dean would leave the company less than a year later. WWE also went into a controversial deal with Saudi Arabia. The Saudi PPV saw Shane McMahon win WWE World Cup tournament becoming the ‘’Best in the World’’.  This is the same PPV where Shawn Michaels came out of retirement for an awful tag team bout. The worst part to 2018 was on December 17, when Vince McMahon came to the ring followed by Stephanie McMahon, HHH and Shane. Stephanie would go on to say ‘’We haven’t been doing a good for you lately.’’ She would rattle on about not listening to us, the fans. We were told that we were now the authority. This was such a surreal moment.

Months prior we got the first All In PPV that would eventually lead to the formation of All Elite Wrestling. The All In card was stacked and displayed some incredible matches that left me wanting more. I started to binge watch BTE on YouTube as well as a history The Bullet Club. I began to attend Irish wrestling shows from Over The Top Wrestling. The first shows I went to featured Will Ospreay, Gunther and Pac. Seeing new talent and the interesting ways they told stories was refreshing. Witnessing smaller promotions putting on better shows compared to a billion-dollar company creating mediocre content was shocking to me.

Appointing us - the fans - as the authority figure was a great rib by WWE as they continued to sling crap in our faces as 2019 saw The Undertaker battling Goldberg in another Saudi show that resulted embarrassing bout. You can visibly see the disappointed on Taker's face post-match. Kurt Angle would have his retirement match against Baron Corbin. Angle is on my mount Rushmore, so for his career to lead to anti-climax was a disgrace. Seth Rollins was on a babyface run and I was enjoying it, until the infamous Hell in the Cell match with The Fiend. This match should have been a decent bout, but the arena was casted in ugly red light and the finish came in form a DQ. During a live reaction broadcast WWE were putting out at the time, X-Pac said ‘’You may not ask me back for one of these but how do you get DQ’d in a Hell in a fricking Cell match.’’ I often ask myself this. Things would get worse when Kofi Kingston was squashed in seven seconds against Brock Lesner. Kofi’s six-month title reign came to an abrupt and miserable end and so did my love for WWE. At this point I felt cheated and insulted. How can I continue to watch a product that simply didn't care?

At the tail end of 2019, AEW was launched. The new promotion featured new faces, different styles of wrestling and an opportunity for talent to thrive. I gravitated towards this. I periodically watched WWE clips, but it was clear Vince was out of touch. Talent were also fired during the pandemic. It was as if Vince didn't care anymore. Remembers Erik Rowen’s spider? On top of all this, Vince's scandal was aired across the internet. During this insane time, Vinny had the balls to appear on Smackdown just to wave his ego around.

So, what's changed?

I watched night 1 of WrestleMania and I was impressed. The highlight was Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair. I liked what I saw with the Bloodline storyline. It was great to see Cody Rhodes, and a heel Dominik Mysterio intrigued me. I kept up with things and noticed consistent story telling. With Vince gone, it felt like everything was moving in a cohesive way. Yes, Vince gave us years of entertainment, but he also held on for too long and it was clear it was causing damage.

I decided to tune back into WWE full time and write about my viewing experience. If you’ve read my past posts, then you know that I still have issues with WWE, but I’ve never seen a promotion do anything perfect. I think WWE do a much better job with their women’s division and keeping storylines simple and clear, but they lack on match quality with many silly finishes. They play things safe, but that's okay. For now I'm enjoying the ride. And that's good enough.
