Dear fellow feminists,
I’m talking as a feminist, to feminists, because some ridiculous shit is being associated with me and i don’t like it. its a rant i suppose
1. (i’ll use an example to illustrate) if you say men can’t hit women, then you must also clarify that you don’t believe women hitting men is okay. i understand that it is unrelated to your cause to say that (since feminism is related to women’s struggles and not men’s) but you must already know that people are touchy-feely about the stupidest shit so at least make an effort to make them understand how you’re not against them, you’re just supporting other people. and you’re there for men if they have discrimination issues. being a feminist does not mean you don’t have the capacity to support others and be an active member in groups advocating the rights of other people.
2. if and when people ask you why you identify as a feminist, make people understand that feminism is relevant because the world needs it. more often than not, people reject feminism because they’re so privileged they can’t even understand that the world is still infested with discrimination. it’s like as if someone’s going “yeah no thanks, we don’t need charity cuze we’re already rich lol” which is ridiculous. just because feminism is not needed in one area of the world, doesn’t mean it’s not needed, and doesn’t mean we should stop spreading and teaching the importance of feminism to the younger generation. equality is for everybody, that is what feminism is based on. and we don’t want a repeat of history, do we?
3. understand that Feminism is meant to improve women’s right on the basis of equality of the sexes. don’t get blinded by dumb shit in the street and then go on a campaign against men... that’s not feminism. please understand that feminism is not against men, it is against misogyny. it is against a thought, not a gender. feminism is based on egalitarianism, it does not oppose it, nor is it different from it, it’s just a movement based on it created in response to injustice. and if men are facing injustice, and want to make a movement called “meninism” or “MANPOWER” yeah i’m all in, as long as they have a logical and solid claim.
4. if you have double standards, just... stop ruining our reputation lol. (reusing the example bc why not) if men can’t hit women, women can’t hit men. simple as that. in fact, let's agree that nobody should hurt one another, how about that aye? and if you have reserves on this issue, reevaluate your stupid standards, THEN call yourself a feminist. being a feminist automatically means you are an egalitarian first, and your top priority is EQUALITY. so if a girl hits a guy, and a guy hits her back, the guy is not the only one to blame, nor is he the MOST to blame. hitting is bad so they’re both wrong, but the girl initiated it, so she’s the one to get reported for abuse.
yeah, we know men are stronger biologically, so that means don’t fucking hit men if you know they can dump your ass under a train with zero sweats, dumbo. and men, if women abuse you, call the police and sue them and take all their money and dump them in jail while eating ice cream, instead of abusing them. we have a law and a court for a reason. if you wanna go all baboon on someone, stay in the jungle. as a self-proclaimed “civilised” species we should all embrace our differences and work towards a better outcome, instead of resolve to violence when it's convenient.
these are just a few things i wanted to send to feminists of the modern age.. i feel like people are joking about feminism so much that stupid people actually BELIEVE feminism is injustice and just raging females, which is shameful. feminism is a beautiful cause that shaped our constitutions, that made us into what we are today. i just hope people stop going by the stupid uneducated internet meme definition of what feminism is and go by the actual good meaning. feminism, in a few years, went from this perfectly understood advocacy for equality, to this joke that nobody even understands, that leaves a bad impression on children. how did that even happen...
oh right, the internet.
you people just like to ruin nice words, don’t you..
