lowkey wanna make all my ocs malay or mixed malay just because i want to explore different aspects of malay ppl from different states
#rambles#oh damn don't read the tags if you don't wanna see some guy talking about something they don't know about#from a story standpoint it's gonna be.. idk#probably overthinking this#the concept of race is sometimes a weird one to think#my great grandparents were still considered javanese iirc? my parent is malay#my friend is malay. their dad is malay. one of their great grandparent (or just grandparent?) is a chinese muslim revert.#they have chinese relatives and they celebrate cny and all that#my friend is considered malay (bumiputera i guess?) tho they have pakistani relatives living in pakistan#maybe it's not actually that weird if someone is mixed and has lived this experience#but still. the politics of it is confusing. had a classmate (malay) who was not considered a citizen for quite a while even tho they#were born here and lived here all their life. and their parents had citizenship (if i'm not mistaken) but#there was something with the birth certificates or whatever idk. weird.#oh. this is me rambling about a topic i know nothing about. this might sound ignorant or stupid of me#i just can't stand the talks that some conservative malay circles have.. some are very uhh.. tak sedar diri#you don't see the priviledge you have as a bumiputera and now complaining about those being taken by the rich and the corrupt govt#and making it about race or immigrations instead.. i'm not well read and i am dumb about this topic but this mentality is poison
