is it just me or does Nicky give off the vibe of a kid who's mom constantly put on investigation discovery on the living room TV? Like I know the reason he doesn't go to them is bc he tried and they didn't listen (implied by the 911 dispatcher asking if this was another prank call when Trinity called) but it'd be funny of that was the reason y. "I've seen Snapped, Police won't do shit unless we're dead or we get as much evidence as I am tall!"
Realistically, he very much gives the kid who watched too many crime shows and has his natural sense of curiosity heavily encouraged by his parents (counter to Trinity)
But on the more joking side of things...
I'd like to call attention to this line from episode 1
"It's my job to know what happens on my block"
Now, this is an oddly specific line, the kind that struck me from the start like the kind of thing a kid would repeat from their parents. Similar to a sort of "mom says I'm in charge," based on his usage of job, as a kid, your job is usually a task given by your parents.
I imagine the interaction as such "Just like it's my job to know what goes on in our town, it's your job to know what happens on your block"
And WHO you might ask, delivered this line?
Why his father, of course, the man from my 100% accurate, TOTALLY CANON, gonna get confirmed in s2 guys I swear I'm totally right on this!
QUENTIN AKA
QUENTIN ROTH
It all makes sense, doesn't it? Quentin is a reporter, and we know from hn2 that he has the same breaking and entering tendencies to get the information he needs. It only makes sense for him to encourage his sons curiosity and need to know what's going on in their neighborhood?
I'm telling you guys, the Quentin Roth theory is real, trust
