Hi! I wanted to leave a comment on your last post but you closed replies (i understand why) so i hope that it's acceptable to write it here!!
If you don't want, it's okay not to reply
I agree with what you said. Sorry if I'll sound repetitive to what you wrote but I've been thinking about PvZ conflict, disabled rep and POC rep a lot; i understand you
IMO POC Arcane characters never got any focus at all
Ekko's playable in League and has a fanbase, yet we don't even know how he built his community...which is a central thing for his character. Scar (Vastaya, bat-like creature) is close to him, a friend he found on his own terms and yet they never made him more than a background character. Ekko's a "boy saviour" in Act 3 and at the end he was left all alone, we don't even know what his community thinks about his return.
Sky doesn't gets any personal story, she resembles a "woman in the fridge" fictional trope (where female character dies to scare and motivate male one). Sometimes i forget that she existed in S1 and it shows how bad it is
Mel's arc led her to becoming a League champion (which seems to be a marketing move from Riot...). She deserved to get more in-depth focus on her struggles but instead she was left alone, both in the "evil shadow realms" and after show's ending. Amanda said that MelJay couple was intended to be boring, which left a terrible aftertaste in my mouth.
Sevika is from the same era Vander and Silco lived in. Full of personality, yet no crumbs of any backstory outside of (implied) bad relationship with father. She called Vander weak, said that she knew him as a fighter & looked up to his statue... we never got even 1 line about who he was to her. She tried to rally people, helped to save them from the prison and no one (outside of Scar) has looked at her direction. I think she indeed was only a "support" character to Silco and Jinx (in writers eyes)
ABSOLUTELY .
Like you said, Ekko’s entire career, interpersonal problems, insight, and motive is never ever mentioned? After the AU, his love and activism for zaun is thrown away for a WHITE WOMAN. He doesn’t go back to the sanctuary as far as we know and instead is there to just “save the day” for jinx (as I’ve noticed many of the characters of colour are reduced to in the show). and like you said, we got nothing regarding his community on his disappearance
Sky’s entire existence is to make Viktor feel guilty
Mel was such an interesting character and i cant help but feel like she was discarded for Viktor and Jayce, even IF she got so much League content (someone on Twitter explained this way better than i did) + at the end, she also fell victim to the “coloured savior” fate just like ekko
Sevika got WAY more screentime in s2 acts 1-2, but even then we know absolutely nothing about her. And just like you said, she helps jinx with everything (coloured savior) and gets no recognition or elaboration, just like ekko. And then in act 3 shes thrown away. She helps the white protagonists and is discarded (just. Like. Ekko.) and then shes given a seat on the council as if that means ANYTHING. This shows handling of coloured characters is fucking atrocious
And viktor….1st the ”aroace disabled person” stereotype he fell to was just….gross. And the fact that racism, homophobia, misogyny, ect was all made to not exist in runeterra but ableism does???? Idk. Its fucking weird
(And i didnt even know the comments were off on my last post omg 😭😭)
