Something amusing about how Dragon Age: The Veilguard has Antivan Crows be this cool organization of suave and amazing assassins is that they have NEVER been successfull previously in the games.

Dragon Age: Origins? They are willing to take on political contracts against Wardens, showing honour comes after greed, and they fail. They fail so hard that the assassin leader joins the targets group, and because of the horrible way Antivan Crows raise their assassins, this initial joining is genuine. Zevran had no intention of betraying the group unless one antagonizes him and the Crows then give him another chance... in which the Crows fail AGAIN. Only times they are succesfull in DA:O are when the Hero of Ferelden takes those contracts, or helps them.

Dragon Age2? They fail, repeatedly, whenever they go against Hawke, and if Zevran lives, they have failed repeatedly at capturing him before they die.

Dragon Age: Inquisition? House of Repose, the Orlesian assassination guild, gets more attention and has more success than the Antivan Crows. Crows are only given attention through the War Table, in which one can ignore them, or Zevran, if he is alive, can once again foil their plans and get away with it.

Now, it bears to mind that House of Repose is an Orlesian organinzation and the game takes place in Orlais and Ferelden, so it makes sense that this assassin guild gets more attention and are better, since they are at their homefield. Likewise, in DA:V we see the Crows at their homefield, in a land where they are feared and respected...and even THEN, in the game that portrays them the most positive, they have shown how inefficient they actually are as Antiva's main defense against invaders.
