[CN] Kiro’s Treasure Date (Eng Translation)
🍒 Warning: This post contains detailed spoilers for a date which has not been released in English servers! 🍒
Note: A bullet-point summary, but important scenes have detailed translations!
I think @kudoriee will enjoy this :>
The birthday event basically talks about how KEY likes leaving Kiro puzzles. On one particular day, Kiro solves a pretty tough puzzle which leads him to the amusement park
At first, he thinks he solved the puzzle wrongly because he doesn’t see KEY around, but the amusement park starts blasting birthday music
KEY literally hacked into the system
He appears, and the two of them have wholesome fun
Kiro asks why KEY played birthday music
Baby Kiro doesn’t know when his birthday is...
He literally asks, “Why is it my birthday today?”
And KEY says that since Kiro had so much fun today, they might as well consider it Kiro’s birthday (T口T)
KEY: Kiro, you must definitely remember this date. I might not spend every 9 April with you, but I hope that when this day arrives each year, you will spend it next to someone you like, and who likes you.
Kiro: A person I like and who likes me... will they always be by my side?
KEY: Of course. Because Kiro is the most amazing and most adorable kid in the world.
Kiro: Mm! Oh, when little kids have birthdays, they eat cake and make wishes.
KEY: Pff, you really only know how to eat. Come, let’s go have a birthday cake.
For his school homework, Kiro is supposed to draw his idea of a home. He draws it (further details will be in the date), but feels that something is missing
He draws a small white bunny next to his name.
Even though he has never owned a rabbit, he knows that there’s a little rabbit waiting for him in a corner of the world.
He repeats the same wish he made the day before.
“Welcome to my home,” Kiro says softly.
The actual date begins with MC in the office, with Kiki wondering what she’s doing there since she was supposed to be celebrating Kiro’s birthday
Turns out Kiro gave her a map with a set of hints to find clues, and the first stop is the office
Kiro gives her a phone call and helps her find the clue, which leads her to a department store
She retrieves a hotel card from a locker in the department store
At the hotel, she sees Savin stationed downstairs because Kiro was afraid MC wouldn’t be able to find the location
Kiro is in the hotel room preparing for a live broadcast
MC gives him his birthday gift, but he decides to wait till after the live broadcast before opening it together with her
In her hotel room next door, she finds her favourite tidbits on the table, and a set of sleeping attire (a pink rabbit pyjama set).
There’s also a note at the side which reads: “The treasure hunt has been tough on you! Miss Chips, have something to eat and have a nice bath, then rest for a while (° ▽ °*) ”
She watches the livestream in her room
The livestream has a candle-blowing segment, wish-making segment, and Kiro even sings a few songs for his fans
MC leaves a comment, asking if Kiro had any memorable birthdays in his childhood
Surprisingly, Kiro catches the comment
Kiro: When I was young, I had a very cool “boss”, who was also my guardian. He liked giving me all types of puzzles to solve.
Kiro: You’re wondering what kind of prizes I'd get after solving them? Back then, it was sweets and biscuits of course.
Kiro: However, there was one extremely difficult puzzle! I thought about it for a very long time before finding the answer in music.
He plucks at the strings and plays a short, lively tune.
Kiro: You should have all heard this before. It was the background music of an amusement park near my house when I was younger. This incredibly cute song was like a signal between me and my boss.
Kiro: As expected, when I ran to the amusement park, he was there waiting for me. And that day... was also my birthday. Reliving happy memories while solving puzzles is something my boss taught me.
Kiro: After spending an extremely~ happy day in the amusement park, I still remembered to finish my homework the next day!
Kiro: The homework was a drawing, and I drew the home in my heart. In my home, there’s a flower field. Within it, there are people who like me, and whom I like, all surrounding me, listening to me sing. This is what I think of as my happiest and most blessed thing.
Seeing the screen filled with “What an interesting birthday!” “Childhood Kiro was a small genius too!”, I bite my lower lip.
I retrieve the stack of neat maps from my pocket, a tightening sensation in my chest.
I know that what he said about puzzles and signals was meant for the person across the wall - me.
He gave me a puzzle on his birthday. The important thing wasn’t the answer, but the key to memories. Every location on this map hides precious memories that Kiro and I shared.
The livestream ends and she heads to Kiro’s room
Kiro: Miss Ch-
Before he finishes speaking, I have already opened my arms, lunging into his chest.
MC: Happy birthday, Kiro!
Kiro: Didn’t you already say it once when you gave me the present just now?
MC: As long as it’s your birthday, I can say it an unlimited number of times!
Kiro: Okay, when it comes to your birthday, I’ll say it an unlimited number of times too!
While speaking, he lifts me up in a hug and swirls me around. We fall onto the soft bed.
The fluffy feather pillows and balloons bounce lightly in response to our weight, and fall to our sides.
Kiro: I didn’t think you’d really change into the bunny pyjamas!
MC: Eh? Weren’t you the one who prepared it for me?
Kiro: Of course it was! Oh right, wait for me... just a while!
HE RETURNS, WEARING A BEAR ONESIE
Kiro: Deng deng deng! The birthday party is over, now the pyjama party shall begin!
MC: Eh... how is this a pyjama party. It’s clearly a zoo party!
Kiro: If it’s a zoo, so be it. Little animals are so cute!
He sits beside me, and is about to say something when his phone rings.
The person on the call is a silver-haired woman - a singer called Saidel Eva - who wishes him a happy birthday. Eva comments that she knows who MC is, because he mentioned that MC is his muse. While she’s stunned, Kiro holds her hand.
Kiro: Mm, she’s not only my artistic muse, but also the most important person in my life.
MC: [blushing] I’m not... not as amazing as he says...
Right after I finish speaking, the hand on mine slowly entwines with my fingers.
The warmth emanating from his palm causes my heart to calm down.
MC: However... since he has already put it that way, I’ll work hard to become his muse. Because Kiro... is also the most important person to me.
Eva: Ah, what a cute lady.
She lets out a light huff and turns her eyes back to Kiro, blue orbs filled with approval.
Eva: I’m guessing your wish has already been fulfilled, am I right?
Kiro: Yes.
Eva: I wish the both of you happiness, and enjoyment in life.
Kiro: Definitely, madam.
He finally opens the gift - it’s a black necklace with a black round pendant surrounded by a few gold coloured small stars. In the middle, there’s an engraved word “KIRO”
It’s a one-in-the-world necklace designed by MC
The necklace is made of siderite from a meteor, and the gold portions are made from star fragments (I’m not entirely sure about the names because I’m not familiar with minerals)
MC notes that it was only after breaking through the atmosphere that these minerals could come to earth
Just as these minerals are ‘gifts’ to the earth, Kiro is a gift to MC
After wearing it for a while, he puts it back into the box, and realises there’s something inside the necklace
MC tells him not to open it yet, and tries snatching it away from him
She falls into his arms instead <3
So she angrily throws a pillow at him
He stuffs the necklace into his pocket and they engage in a pillow fight
SO CUTE
Kiro declares himself the winner
MC says he cannot open the watch until she's gone
Since he’s in a good mood, Kiro agrees
They lie together on the bed to chat, exhausted from the pillow fight
MC: Come to think of it, the boss you were talking about during the livestream - was he KEY?
Kiro: Mm, he taught me a lot of things.
MC: So the reason why you gave me the map, and let me solve the puzzles, was because you wanted to have a signal with me?
Kiro: That’s one of the reasons, but more importantly...
While he speaks, he slowly hooks onto my fingertips.
Kiro: Miss Chips and I don’t get to meet often because of all sorts of things, and I know that waiting is a painful process.
He mutters his response, fastening his fingers tightly with mine, his face half-sinking into the mattress as he reveals a faint smile.
Kiro: Which is why I don’t want you to feel bored while waiting for me. I hope each time we meet would be a step closer in our journey towards happiness.
MC: Kiro...
Kiro: Now that I think about it, KEY has really taught me a lot. Whether it’s knowledge related to hacking, or in understanding this world.
MC: Understanding this world?
Kiro: Mm. It’s that phrase, “you may be in darkness, but your heart is turned towards the light.”
Kiro: When I was still in chaos, these words were my direction. I believe that someday in the future, I will fulfil my dream, and do what I want to do, which includes... meeting the person I’ve been waiting a long time for.
With this, he looks at me quietly, his blue eyes hiding the bright starry sky.
Almost as if telling one not to look away.
My voice becomes incredibly soft, as though it’s floating in the universe.
MC: You are also... the person I’ve been waiting a long time for.
Sleepiness overtakes my senses in the midst of his tender voice and gaze, but I can still remember to emphasise once more:
MC: Happy birthday, Kiro. Whether or not it’s your birthday, whether it’s today, or tomorrow, or any day in the future, you will always be incredibly happy.
Kiro: Mm. With you around, I’ll definitely be incredibly happy.
Hearing these words, which sound like a promise, I peacefully and slowly close my eyes.
In the haziness, I seem to feel a small feather falling on my eyelid.
It is tender and warm, as though it can breathe.
Kiro: Goodnight.
The kiss doesn’t disturb the girl’s light slumber. Kiro laughs lightly, and takes out the necklace from his pocket.
Twisting the switch, the siderite cracks apart to reveal a hidden note.
The note reads - “Oh no, you’ve found the Easter egg > <”
On the other side is a link to a website.
Thinking about the girl’s sly thoughts when designing such a gift, Kiro laughs again.
He retrieves his notebook computer from the bedside, inserts the link, and finds a downloadable voice pack.
He puts on his earphones and taps on the first voice recording.
MC: Heheh, you didn’t think this would be the second part of your birthday present right? We always have to part temporarily because of all sorts of things. In order for you not to miss me too much, I decided- dang dang! To present you with an MC alarm clock!
MC: It’s time to wake up! If you don't get out of bed soon, Savin’s anger is going to fill to the brim~
MC: Has Kiro eaten his meals today?
MC: When you’re engrossed in work, don’t forget to protect your eyesight. One, two, three, four, the eye exercises shall begin!
MC: Before saying goodnight, remember to send me updates!
MC: Kiro, welcome home!
Every voice recording, no matter how long or short, is filled with the concern she has for him.
Hearing the girl’s voice in his hear, Kiro’s lips curl upwards.
Both of them always think of their own ways to fill in the blank spaces of time, painting them in colours belonging to each other.
Kiro: Miss Chips...
Kiro leans down to stare at her sleeping face. He speaks in a way that only the two of them can hear clearly.
Kiro: The picture I mentioned in the livestream... I hid a small secret in it that only I know of. I want to share it with you. I drew a small rabbit. She’s my favourite, favourite new friend.
Kiro: Miss Chips, welcome to my home.

The Design in Her Mind
Part 9/?
Genre: drama, romance Rating: PG-13 Group: Monsta X
Summary: Sooyeon meets Monsta X by chance on the streets when they try to help her and her friends shake off creepers, but the meeting ends on a sour note. Some time later, Sooyeon meets the boys again, but at Starship’s headquarters. Although they act cold to each other, Shownu becomes more and more curious about her.
Disclaimer: This is 100% fictional and my own story. It is unrelated to the actual events and real persons of Monsta X and Starship. In regards to this particular fic, I’ve created new K-Pop groups and Sooyeon Kim is my original character. Parts will be written in Korean with English translations. I did not major/study in English/Korean, nor was I ever strong in English/Korean grammar, so there will be grammatical mistakes. This fanfic is written in third person and past-tense for ease of writing.
April 9 Is it okay to tell the truth? To someone so new? Why was it so easy to tell him?
“...”
“...”
“... 뭐 더 시키고 싶으세요?” (Translation: “... Would you like to order something else?”)
Sooyeon glanced up from her glass and shook her head slowly. The two of them had been sitting in utter silence for the last half an hour, with Sooyeon taking shots, one after another. Shownu drank his beer calmly, or what seemed to be calm, but Sooyeon could tell he was worried with the number of glances sneaked.
Shownu looked down at his drink, drawing shapes on the sides of the glass. He mumbled, “그럼… 편하실때 말 하세요.” (Translation: “Then… you can talk when you’re comfortable.”)
“...”
It weighed on Sooyeon’s mind, that she came to a small and cozy restaurant that had private rooms with Shownu. The professional side of her berated Sooyeon for following an idol to such an open area, even if they were secluded from others. Even if she impulsively accepted his offer, it was completely wrong of her to put him at risk. On the other hand, she knew she couldn’t help but take up his offer after the long couple of weeks. His simple words made her tired mind relax a little.
“그게…” (Translation: “Well…”) she started, making Shownu’s dog ears perk up. Her lips curled into a small smile seeing his reaction, and even more when his head cocked to the side. Seeing that he wanted to fulfill his job as a listener, Sooyeon relaxed a little more before sharing her side of the story about the failed contract incident.
< an hour later >
“-- 솔직히 뮤뱅때부터 힘들었는데… 제 완벽한 실력이 이렇게 문제가 될 줄이라… ‘설마’라고만 생각했어요.” (Translation: “-- honestly it was hard since that time at Music Bank… but to think my perfect skills would cause such a problem… I thought ‘no way.’”) Sooyeon laughed sarcastically. She had two shots too many, but… the conversation flowed nicely and Shownu seemed genuinely interested in her rant.
With the occasional comments he threw in to agree with her and the concerned look on his face at times, there was no awkward moment in the last hour. Until he asked, “그때 뮤뱅후로 못 만나서 물어보지도 못 했는데… 좀… 괜찮아졌어요?” (Translation: “I couldn’t ask you since I didn’t see you after Music Bank… did you… feel better afterwards?”)
Oh shit. Never told him thanks, did I? Sooyeon’s eyes widened, with her shot glass already tilted between her lips.
*Cough*
Choking on the sudden inflow, she quickly dabbed her mouth and chin with her napkin, as Shownu stared back with confusion. Holding out a hand, Sooyeon coughed, “괘ㄴ찮ㅇㅏ요” (Translation: “I-I’m f ine.”) After cleaning herself up, she could tell her face was probably a deeper shade of red due to her embarrassment, but she cleared her throat before responding. “그때… 고마웠어요. 말은 못 했지만… 그 순간에, 옛날 기억이 떠올라와서… 힘들었어요. 그래서…” (Translation: “At that time… thank you. I couldn’t tell you… but in that moment, it was difficult… because memories of my past came up. So…”)
She looked down at her arm. When Shownu’s eyes followed the trail, she propped her arm up to show him the healed tattoo.
“그날때문에… 이거 받았어요. 근데 지금 다른 이유때문에 힘들어서 또 받고싶어지네요…” (Translation: “I got this… because of that day. But now things are tough for a different reason, so I want to get another one…”) Her eyes shifted back to him, and seeing the frown on his face, Sooyeon backtracked. “아, 근데 이게 중독되서 하는게 아니에요. 진짜 죽을것같은 순간에 생각나요 -- 제 타투들. 한편으로는 받을때 살아있다는 느낌이 들어서 편하고, 또 한편엔 희망있는 타투를 받아서 내일을 볼수있게되는것 같아요.” (Translation: “Oh, but I’m not getting these because I have an addiction. When I really feel like I’m going to die, I think of these tattoos. On one hand I feel alive when I receive them, and on the other hand, I can look forward to tomorrow because of these hopeful meanings.”)
She stared down at her glass in her hand as she said this, for fear that her honest words were scaring him.
Shownu reeled from all the new information. Never did he realize what her tattoos meant to her. Never did he realize how she felt while she received them. Never did he realize the effect that night in Japan had on her. His heart twanged with pain, and even more so when she looked down at her glass as she explained it to him. He could tell she was nervous about telling him, but he only wanted to make her comfortable talking to him.
When she paused to look up hesitantly at him, his heart thumped and it surprised him. It took only half a second to recover before he smiled sweetly. “고마워요, 말 해줘서. 몰랐는데… 지금 알려줘서 고마워요.” (Translation: “Thank you for telling me. I didn’t know… but thank you for telling me now.”) 잘 견디고 있어서… 고맙고… 수고했어요. (Translation: Thank you… and you’ve done well… for enduring it so far.) He wanted to say, but he also didn’t want to overstep his boundaries too much for the first time.
They shared a moment of soft smiles and Shownu coughed to change the topic. He flashed a playful smile and asked, “그래서… 진짜 스타일리스트 일 안 하실거에요?” (Translation: “So… you’re really not going to do the stylist work?”)
“풋-- 핳하핳ㅎ” (Translation: “Pfft-- hahaha”) A light melodic laughter spilled out of Sooyeon, and Shownu watched, fascinated. She replied, “큭ㅋ 음… 하기싫은데 어쪄죠?? 모르시겠지만, 그런일 할땐 입금이…” (Translation: “lol um… what should I do -- I don’t really want to?? You might not know, but the pay for that kind of work is…”) She held out her index finger and thumb, squeezing it just before they touched. “되게 작아요. 그리고, 뭐, 또 누가 저를 쫓아다니는 일이 없었으면 좋겠어요.” (Translation: “It’s small. Also, well, I just don’t want anymore situations with people following me.”)
He chuckled at her explaining the pay, but when Sooyeon mentioned the last part, he raised an eyebrow. Shownu asked cautiously, “뭐… 정말 매력적인 사람인것 같은데… 왜 그렇게 생각하는거죠?” (Translation: “Well… I think you’re really charming… but why do you think so?”)
Another sheet of red layered over her cheeks, before she managed to pull a calmer expression. “앜.. 어.. 음… 그게 좋아해서 쫓아다닌지 아니면 미워서 쫓아다니는지… 모르죠. 그냥 이 일에는 적이 있으면 일하기가 힘들어요.” (Translation: “Ack!-- uh.. Mm… well, I didn’t say whether they follow me because they like me or because they hate me… It’s just, it’s difficult to work when you have an enemy in this field.”)
“우리 멤버들은 걱정 안하셔도 되요 -- 워낙 초반에 차갑게 대해서 다가가진 안 하고, 우리 애들은 싫은사-- 아. 불편한 사람한테는 안 가서 괴롭히는 일도 없을 거예요.” (Translation: “You don’t have to worry about my members -- since you were cold to them since the beginning, they won’t go near you, and to people they don’t like-- ah. To people they feel uncomfortable with, they won’t harass since they don’t go near.”)
With his awkward slip-up in the middle, she giggled over his words.
*Ba-thump* 아… 심장아, 제발 가만히 있어. (Translation: Ah… my heart, please stay still.)
Tilting her shot glass around, making the alcohol inside slosh a little, Sooyeon mumbled, “음.. 생각해볼게요.” (Translation: “Mm.. I’ll think about it.”)
Shownu pushed just a little bit more, knowing she was opening up to the idea: “솔직히, 우리랑 있으면 다른 남자 아이돌이 접근하기가 어려워요 -- 우리가 워낙에 쎈 이미지라서요. 그리고 이젠 후배들도 많으니깐, 괜찮을거에요.” (Translation: “Honestly, it’ll be hard for male idols to approach you if you’re with us -- since we have a pretty strong image. Plus, since there’s a lot of juniors now, it’ll be okay!”) Revealing a toothy soft smile, he hoped despite his words, she would know they don’t live up to the scary strong image they have.
Sooyeon chuckled, “앟하하ㅎ 생각은 해보겠지만… 아직…” (Translation: “Ah-- haha I’ll think about it… but still…”)
Her words trailed off into thin air. He looked down at his beer glass, not wanting to make his dejection obvious. Maybe she sensed it already, because her next words were choppy and quiet. “진짜 생각할게요. 신중하게 생각해서… 결정하면 ㅅ셔누...씨한테 말 해드릴게요.” (Translation: “I’ll really think about it. After I seriously think about it… and I decide what to do, I’ll tell y-you [S-Shownu-ssi].”)
“그럼… 더 편하게, 친구↗할까요?” (Translation: “Then… to become more comfortable, should we become friends↗?”) Shownu could tell his voice came out shaking and nervous, especially with his voice cracking. He could tell from the corner of his eyes, her lips were trembling -- she was probably trying not to chuckle. He took a swig of his beer before continuing. “너무 빨린 무리일것 같고… 이. 이름 부르기로 시작해요. 그리고 너무 존댓말도 금지로 하ㅈ-- 해요.” (Translation: “It might be too overwhelming if we try too fast, so… name. Let’s start by calling each other’s names. And let’s ban too much polite talking ple-- yes.”)
“프ㅡㅅ하핳ㅎ하하ㅏ하핳!!” (Translation: “Pfft hahahaha!!”)
His eyebrows knit while his eyes widened by the sudden sound of laughter. He was surprised to see Sooyeon laugh even more openly than she did previously. The way her eyes squeezed shut just like an emoji and the way her hands moved quickly to cover her mouth, Shownu was entranced by the sight. Even though his ears felt like they were on fire, he couldn’t help but stare at her with a wide smile.
As she wiped a tear that managed to escape, Sooyeon spoke through her giggles, “그래요 그럼. 현우씨… 맞죠?” (Translation: “Okay then. Hyunwoo… right?”)
A chill ran down his spine as soon as his name uttered from her lips. His heart thumped harder than ever, and Shownu even wondered if the alcohol in his system was going to cause a heart attack. Maybe he would OD right then and there. Maybe, but before he could let it happen, he whispered, “네. 수연씨.” (Translation: “Yes. Sooyeon.”)

CAR INTERVIEW WITH JERRY
Jerry: You’re a lot taller than you were... Ben: Haha. Jerry: When did you have the spurt of... growth? Ben: I think... I’m not sure? These kind of... add a half an inch or so. (points to boots) Jerry: Mm, but not that much. Ben: I dunno. Yeah. Jerry: After high school or...? Ben: I guess? Probably college or maybe a little bit after. Jerry: Oh yeah? Where did you go to school? Ben: Uh, Saint Michael’s College? Jerry: Where’s that? In Vermont? Ben: In Vermont, yeah. Yeah, Dave and I were confirmed at Saint Mary’s together but... I’m kind of scared of... of the Catholics. Spent too much time under the cross, I guess. Jerry: Oh, okay, yeah. So you must ski, huh? Ben: I do love skiing. When I went to college I actually didn’t ski because, uh, it was like, Vermont is like a different kinda cold. Just the five, ten degree difference makes a big difference. And I preferred to just sleep on the weekends so... and not pay the money... So yeah, these are very simple, should I just start askin ya? Jerry: Sure! Yeah. Ben: Yeah, okay, make sure that’s... yeah... So yeah, what was your first car? Jerry: First car that I owned was a 1960 MGA. http://www.sportscarshop.com/1960-mg-mga/ Ben: Mm. Was that a sports car or...? Jerry: Yeah, it was a two-seater, roadster. Ben: Nice. And what color? Jerry: Gray, with a I think it was black interior. Ben: Nice. And how long did you have it for? Jerry: I had it when I was going to college. So I had it for prolly, three to four years. Ben: Yup. Good car? Jerry: Uh, no, it used to break down a lot. Ben: Haha, that’s usually how it goes with first cars. Jerry: Yeah, I had to leave it on the side of the road and call a friend to come and pick me up. Ben: And how did you first acquire it? Jerry: I just went to a dealer and bought it, and paid fifty dollars a month on the loan and... that was it. Ben: Was it pretty sharp-looking though, despite the engine troubles? Jerry: Yeah, it was pretty good. Ben: Was it like a chick magnet at all or...? Jerry: Um, it’s hard to say. It didn’t have windows, it had side curtains. And in the winter it was pretty cold to drive it, but I drove it all year round. Ben: Okay. Was there heating? Jerry: There was heating. But sometimes it didn’t work. Ben: Did they have the heat seats back then? Jerry: No. Nothin like that. And it was very drafty cuz of the side curtains. And it leaked when it rained and, all those things. Ben: So when did you get your license? Do you remember the year or the age you were? Jerry: Uhh, it would have been, 1959, 1960? You know, right when I turned sixteen. Ben: Okay. Were you like really raring to get it or? Jerry: Yeah, yeah. Ben: Okay, so... I dunno if you remember Bill Funsch? Jerry: Yeah, sure. Ben: Cuz he’s a little bit older than us even though he’s in our grade, he was the first of our friends to get a driver’s license, so I remember riding in this old, like his dad’s hand-me-down red Jetta. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Jetta_(A2) And, uh, just like the feeling of liberation. Wasn’t even when I got the license, it was like my friend driving. Being out from under my parents’ wing. I was like, we should just drive to the moon or something! Jerry: Right, right, right. Ben: Did you have a similar experience or? Jerry: Uh, yeah... I would say so, yeah. I liked to drive, go on errands, whatever, just to be able to drive the car. Ben: Just be out? Jerry: Yeah. Ben: Was it kind of like American Graffiti where you just spend Fridays and Saturday nights just cruisin around, lookin for stuff to do? Jerry: Yeah, yeah, that was typical. Ben: Yeah. So do you remember what your parents drove? Was there like a memorable car from your childhood? Jerry: Uhh... they drove, you know, Fords and Mercurys. https://fiftiesweb.com/cars/album-ford/ https://fiftiesweb.com/cars/mercury/ Nothing, uh... and then when I was older my father got a Camaro. That was, you know, like a hot car. That was, you know, say the early 60s. So nothing too fancy. Camaro’s probably the fanciest. https://www.dancummins.com/the-best-camaros-from-the-60s/ Ben: That’s pretty good. Jerry: Yes, yeah. Cuz it was kind of a cool-looking car. Ben: Yeah. Any station wagons or big sedans? Jerry: No, but when David was young with the kids, we had a station wagon. Ben: Did it have like the wood panel sides? https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/3iavks/wood_panel_station_wagons/ Jerry: No, those were long gone in the 70s. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/07/22/6-coolest-woody-cars-according-to-you Lisa was born in 1975. That sorta wood paneling or fake wood paneling was long gone. Ben: Right, yeah. And was your dad into cars? Jerry: Mm, no, not really? He did buy that Camaro so he obviously liked the looks of that. But he never worked on cars or anything like that. Ben: Gotcha. That leads perfectly to my next question, do you have a trusty mechanic? Or do you do any of the work on the cars yourself? Jerry: Yeah, no, I have a mechanic do the work. A couple of them. Right now there’s like three that I go to in the Boston area, that are pretty good with the older cars. Ben: Yeah. Yeah, my dad would only go to one guy and he would drive like 45 minutes from Mansfield up to Hudson. Jerry: Oh yeah? Ben: Yeah, Jake was the name of the guy. He loved the guy. I guess it’s like, he just had a loyalty to him. You know how some people are loyal to their barbers or whatever. So you have a vintage Porsche? What model is it? Jerry: Yeah, it’s a 1960 356 A Roadster. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0813-161526/1960-porsche-356-roadster/ Ben: Mhm. Jerry. I can send you a picture after. Ben: Yeah, I would love that. And how long have you had it? Jerry: I bought it in ‘94 and I had it restored, it took a couple years. And I’ve been drivin it since ‘96. Ben: Oh man. I have my dad’s old Porsche, which is a 2013, just the Boxster. https://www.carfax.com/Research-2014-Porsche-Boxster_z118 I feel like a total fraud driving it cuz I’m like, I didn’t earn this really. But uh, it’s a beautiful experience driving it. Jerry: Yeah, Porsche makes a nice, solid car. Ben: Just the design is very... sexy. Like chick magnet again. Very sexy. Um, and what do you think put the idea in your head to get it in the first place? Jerry: Well I was probably always into cars, you know, when I was goin to college I had that MGA. So in the mid-90s I was lookin for a car and came across this, so... it’s a classic, so... it’s better than the MGA, the British sports cars. It’s just, you know, looks and everything. Ben: Is there a lot of upkeep to it, kinda going back to the mechanics question? Jerry: Not really. It’s in the garage right now, sort of preempting the rush for the spring. I usually have it tuned up at the beginning of the driving season, which is, say, April. And then after that, I’ve been lucky. Really haven’t had any trouble. Ben: Mm, good. Well, I’ll say my dad I think got his because, well he had a gray Boxster, I think 1999 he bought it? It was definitely a mid-life crisis purchase, but he really enjoyed driving it. And then he got the new one 2013, which is black and beautiful. Very beautiful. So it was a good mid-life crisis purchase. And Dave says you get your car shipped around so you can drive it in different places? Jerry: Yeah, I’ve driven cross country the last four years, each year, starting from a different place. Rather than driving out, driving back, I ship it out. I shipped it out to San Francisco? No, LA, San Diego, Phoenix, and Colorado Springs and drove back from those four places. Ben: Oh man. And where did you stop along the way? Jerry: Oh, a lot of places. Lot of places. Ben: Any favorite national parks or anything? Jerry: We stopped at a number of national parks... Yosemite, Grand Canyon. Mount Rushmore. I don’t know if any more? Everything was nice. Nice to see. Ben: Yeah, I’ve made that drive a couple times cuz I used to live in LA. I love Los Angeles. I really love Nebraska? I’ve only spent a couple nights there but it was very nice. Everyone’s nice. Slower pace. Just wheat fields sprawling around you? It’s very nice. I can see the appeal. If you could have another car, any car in the world, what would it be? Or are you happy with your Porsche? Jerry: Yeah, I’m happy with the Porsche. I’d probably get a new Targa. A new Porsche Targa. https://www.americanmusclecarmuseum.com/porsche-vehicles/324-2019-porsche-911-targa-4-gts.html Ben: Mhm. That’s a new model? Jerry: Yeah, it’s a convertible hardtop. So yeah, they’re pretty nice. Ben: I’m sure, I’m sure. And a kind of car, usually if I see older cars and the person isn’t wearing like a full camo suit, if they look approachable I’ll usually go up and talk to them, like I love vintage trucks. Do those appeal to you at all? Do they catch your eye? https://vintagewiring.com/product/ford-vintage-trucks-1942-47-6-cyl-dash-harness/ Jerry: Yeah. Yeah, they do. Ben: Will you just admire from a distance or will you go talk to the owner? Jerry: No, usually people like to talk about their cars and are approachable. Ben: Yes, as this interview proves. Um, and are you particular about your tire brand? Jerry: Yeah, but I don’t know too much about the tires. I’ve got some German brand on the ‘60 Porsche. I’ve got a 2011 911 Porsche also. https://www.ccsmotors.com/2011-porsche-911-carrera-4s-c-138.htm Ben: Oh, nice. Jerry: It’s a C 4s, which means Carrera, all-wheel drive. Ben: Shewww. That’s very serious. Jerry: And that’s got Michelin. The people I talked to said those are the tires for that car. Ben: But you get the older Porsche shipped around? Jerry: No, the newer one, shipped around. Ben: Oo, okay. Jerry: But the older one I’ve driven to Saint Louis, to Memphis, to Hilton Head a few times. So I’ve driven it, say, out of New England a number of times. Ben: Still very reliable? Jerry: It has been. Ben: And what do you think about Tesla? How long before electric cars take over? https://carbuzz.com/news/all-new-tesla-model-s-could-look-like-this Jerry: Uh, they’re here. Ben: It’s happenin? Jerry: Yeah, Porsche I think in a couple years that’s all they’ll be making. Ben: Right. There’s this company, I believe in California called, I think it’s Electron Monkey, where they’ll take vintage cars that people love and they’ll put electronic, they’ll replace the old engines with electronic, I think it’s like seventy-five grand to do it or some stupid amount of money. But I guess if you have the money and love your car that much. And do you go to any car shows? Jerry: Yeah, at the Museum of Transportation in Brookline, during the summer they have a number of car shows. They have a German day, which is all Porsches, and Mercedes https://www.vintageindustrialstyle.com/mercedes-benz-300-roadster-vintage-legend-turns-year/, and whatever. Then they have Italian day with a lot of Ferraris https://robbreport.com/motors/cars/best-vintage-ferraris-2852791/ and Alfa Romeo https://petrolicious.com/articles/these-are-the-simple-joys-of-touring-in-a-vintage-alfa-romeo. So if I’m around I’ll go to the shows there. There’s a number of shows that I haven’t been to, there’s one in Greenwich. I think it’s early June, Greenwich, Connecticut, that’s a big one. This past year there was a big one down in Newport that I missed, which I would have liked to have gone to. Every three years Porsche has a big car show. It’s sort of a rally. They have races. They have thousands of cars. And Porsche sends over a lot of cars from Germany to be on display. And the past two times it’s been in Laguna Seca, outside of Monterey, California. Ben: Oh, beautiful. Jerry: Yeah, and I’ve gone to each of those. So yeah, that was two years ago. Next summer after that there’ll be another and it’ll probably be in Laguna Seca again and I’ll probably go to that. There’s races goin on all the time, thousands of cars, all kindsa vendors. Lot of people. It can be overwhelming. Ben: Sure. Jerry: It’s a week event. But the big things, say, starting from Thursday through Sunday. Ben: Is it summertime or? Jerry: It’s usually, say, end of September. I think this weekend there’s a big one down in Florida, in Amelia Island, outside of Jacksonville. It’s probably the second most prestigious car show in the country. Ben: No way. Jerry: Pebble Beach is number one, and that’s usually sometime in August. And Amelia Island is number two. And then there’s others. Hilton Head has one usually the first week of November, so if I’m down there and the weather’s good I’ll usually go to that. So there’s a lot of shows. Ben: And I imagine people there are very friendly because, again, it’s just talkin about, sharing things that you love. Jerry: Right, yeah. Ben: I imagine you have to pack pretty lightly when you go on these trips because the sports cars don’t have much room? Jerry: Yeah. Right, right. Ben: I remember my dad used to put his golf clubs in shotgun and he’d tell my mom she would have to take the Volvo. https://www.edmunds.com/volvo/v70/ So you obviously have to plan for packing lighter. Jerry: Right, yeah. Ben: And so because it’s kind of an election season, what’s your favorite American car? Jerry: Let’s see, I dunno... There’s some nice-lookin cars... (thinks for a few seconds) I dunno, I don’t have one. I can’t think of one. Ben: I always tell people if you think of one ten minutes, half an hour from now, you can let me know. There’s no rush. But yeah, I think that was it, I didn’t want to take up too much of your time. Are there any other things that you wanted to talk about? Jerry: Well there’s races up in Lime Rock, Connecticut. You drive out the Mass Pike and I think it’s Exit 3? And then drive about an hour and a half through northeast Connecticut to get to Lime Rock. And they have races there just about every weekend. They have big races, some national races. And their vintage car weekend is always Labor Day. And if I’m around, I’d go there. There’s races down in Florida all the time. I’d like to go to the track and watch the races. Ben: Very nice. Have you ever been in a race yourself of any kind? Jerry: No, I’ve driven on tracks, but it was just... what would you call it?... Certain events they allow people to drive the track in like a caravan. So you’re not racing, you’re not supposed to pass or anything like that. Ben: Were you kind of inspired by guys like Steve McQueen or Paul Newman, I know those guys loved their cars? Jerry: Used to see Paul Newman often at Lime Rock, cuz that’s where he raced on a regular basis. Ben: Did he live in Connecticut? Part-time? Jerry: He did, yup. He lived, let’s see, outside of Greenwich, Connecticut. But he was there and you’d see him in the pit and you’d be from here to you away from him. Ben: That’s so cool. Jerry: I remember one time, you know, the sports cars, the cars that they race, they don’t have doors, you have to climb through the window to get in. Ben: Right. Jerry: And he was like, I dunno how old but he was like 65 or 70. And he was havin a hard time crawlin through the window and I was standin there and I looked at him and I sort of smiled and he knew what I was smilin about and he smiled back. Ben: Haha. And do you remember when that was? Jerry: It must have been at least ten, fifteen years ago, cuz he’s been dead for a while. And, yeah, there’s a few clubs here that have events. I belong to two vintage Porsche clubs which, they have events and we go away for the weekend. Ben: Oh, cool. Jerry: And it’s just a driving club. Also they’re a source of information too that you can fall back on, if you have a question or a problem with your car, they’re a good resource. And if they have a good experience with a mechanic or a garage or somethin, they’ll send it out in an email. My 356 is in a garage now and that’s how I became aware of this particular garage. Ben: Nice. That sounds like a good group to be a part of. Is it mostly via email that they’ll share information and then you guys’ll get together? Jerry: Yeah. And talk about our cars. You know, stand around, shoot the breeze. Ben: Sure, that sounds pretty good. Um, what was I gonna say, I had one more question... So when you go to these events, will... I love it when there will just be like a caravan of vintage cars and there’ll be like thirty and it’s just like this is like a bit of magic that just came out of nowhere. So are you one of those cars sometimes? Jerry: Yeah, we were someplace outside of Worcester, it may have been Sutton, and it was a Sunday morning and people were coming outta church and we had a caravan of maybe twenty cars, and you could see their heads, just walking down the steps lookin, like that. And then another time someone was leading a drive and it was through a windy road but there was a lot of houses, and I think it was around Acton or Concord or somewhere around there, and someone that lived on that road called the police and said we were racing. Ben: Haha. Jerry: And the police came out and stopped us and asked us what was goin on. We weren’t racing, we were just, it was a windy road, somewhere off the beaten path and just drivin prolly thirty miles an hour. But there was probably twenty of us and someone got a little excited. Ben: Mm. And have you driven an electric car? Jerry: No, I haven’t. I’ve only ridden in a Tesla once. Ben: Right. How did you like that? Jerry: Well, it was a short ride so I really couldn’t tell. But the people who have them love them. Ben: Right, right. It’s a cult. Jerry: Yeah. They’re supposed to be extremely fast. Ben: I think it was an Audi electric car https://www.thedrive.com/news/25162/the-audi-e-tron-gt-is-bringing-the-high-performance-electric-car-fight-to-tesla but I had the Porsche in New Hampshire and this Audi was in front of me and we were going on an on ramp that had a bit of an ascent to it, and the thing just took off. And it was like, this car is from the future. And I was in the Porsche, so it goes zero to sixty pretty quickly but I had to work the stick and this person was just gone. It was like they were flying. But I think I probably will miss, I know it’s bad for the environment but, the gasoline, that feeling of the engine, that’s so much of the connection, it’s like a very visceral thing. I don’t know if you’ll get that with the electric cars. Jerry: I’ve read that they can put in, make it noisy... Ben: If you want it. Jerry: Yeah, and you can switch that on and off, I think. Ben: Okay. Have you seen the new Tarantino movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? Jerry: Yeah, that was pretty good. Ben: Oh yeah, I loved it. There was an older gentleman sitting a few seats over from me when I saw it and he mentioned that Brad Pitt was driving a Karmann Ghia https://www.imcdb.org/v001250044.html was the little like beat up convertible, which is another car my dad had. Jerry: Right, right. Ben: I love those scenes of Brad Pitt just driving around by himself in the convertible. A few friends I talked to were just like, this is boring, and I was like, you guys should ride in a convertible, I think you’d understand. Jerry: One of my early cars was a Karmann Ghia but it was a hardtop. Ben: Seems like everyone had one. Jerry: Yeah, it was pretty good. Ben: What color was that one? Jerry: It was red. Red Karhmann Ghia, yup. Ben: Nice... Well I think that’s it. Jerry: Okay, let me get my phone and I’ll show you that picture...

5 Facts about Aspire AVP from the Reviews
Since the Aspire AVP has been released and was display on IECIE Shenzhen eCig EXPO 2019 earlier this April, many vapers have tried the AVP and most give very positive comments about it on Youtube. I collected some comments that can help you have a well-rounded opinion of the Aspire AVP quickly. You can also watch a vaper’s review, he thinks AVP is the latest ‘visionary’ pod.
Before having sight of the comments from vape communities, here are some facts on the Aspire AVP that we can find from the Aspire official website. According to the AVP product page, it is a portable AIO kit with auto draw function, which means that when you inhale, the device will fire itself. AVP also has three different, easy to choose, adjustable wattage outputs, 8 watts, 10 watts and 12 watts. Apart from 700mAh built-in battery, the 1.2 ohms resistance built in coil, and the 2.0mL capacity, plus safety features like low voltage protection, overheat protection and so on are included as well.
So how does the Aspire AVP impress the vapers after using it? I’ll categorize the feedback into 5 sections and make a summary.
Appearance
The reviewers have the same opinion on Aspire AVP’s look.
‘I do like the carbon-fibre shell…’
‘it is handable and portable, easy to carry.’
‘the metal material makes it durable and comfortableto handle.’
‘I love the zinc alloy material.’
‘it looks shiny.’
This is the truth. AVP AIO is 82 mm in length, 39 mm in width and 14 mm in thickness. The available colors are black, grey, purple, orange and rainbow. From the Aspire Facebook comments, the fans love the Orange most. Personally, I love it, too. You need a close look to notice its glittering edge design.
‘the lanyard is my favorite, I can’t lose it or find the vape all the time.’
‘You can hang it on your neck or attach it to other important gear. If you put it in your bag, you can find it easily you just find the lanyard!’
Safety
Many people also mention that the safety protection is a highlight of the AVP.
‘You can switch on or off the device by pressing five times on the small button, this can prevent the device mistakenly firing in your pocket or bag.’
‘Besides this, AVP inherits Aspire’s famous safety features, including automatic cutoff, short circuit protection, low voltage protection, overcharge protection and overheat protection.’
Wattage and LED light
One of the highlights of the Aspire AVP, is that the LED indicator light which will change colors according to the current charge status (Red, Blue and Green). In more detail, 3.5 volts or less= red light; 3.5 to 3.8 volts= blue light; 3.8 volts and above =green light. What is more, when the USB cable is attached the LED light will flash red 3 times. When the AVP is fully charged the LED will flash green 20 times then remain off. When unplugging the USB cable, the LED will flash green 3 times.
‘By applying the visual signs to the charge status, vapers can know the current charge right away.’
‘The 700mAh battery capacities can allow me to vape all day along in my own situation.’
AVP Pod
‘it is magnetically attached to the device’
‘I definitely recommend the newbies start with Aspire AVP, it is leak free and you will never mess it up’
‘YES! Aspire AVP solves the tank leaking problems when you fill the e-liquid in the vape tank.’
‘AVP pod has bottom leak free filling. Simply pull the magnetized pod from the device, and fill using the spring loaded leak resistant valve.’
‘Most type of filling bottle can adapt to the AVP pod, many reviewers suggest the filling bottle with long and thin drip tip.’
‘you can put the juice with any PG/VG ratios in the AVP pod.’
Plus, ‘AVP Kit contains two pods’. If the pre-installed coil needs to be change, you can replace with the new one immediately and order a new AVP pod from the online store or go to the local vape store.
Vapor and Taste
Although the AVP is portable, and considering its size, ‘it can produce great vapor beyond my imagination!’
This point is also proved by many Youtube reviewers. The taste is good as well, the flavor is rich in the mouth.
Summary
Aspire AVP has so many features:
Slim, light and portable;
Durable metal material and five stylish colors;
Comfortable to hold;
The lanyard prevents loss;
Led indicator lights illuminates at 8/10/12 watts by changing colors;
Leak proof pod system is user-friendly to new vapers;

in an era long past, before capellans had their inclinations as we know them, a girl named atlas was born with a wondrous gift- the ability to see the future. she was one of the very first capellan augurs- there were only 12 augurs in the universe at that time.
when she was but a child, atlas was brought to a warm and vibrant planet to train- a far cry from the icy tundra she hailed from. here atlas excelled, and finally began to make sense of the murky visions that had plagued her all her life.
atlas could see the END OF THE UNIVERSE. in all the different ways it could end, at all the different times it might finally cease to be- she could see them all. and after every end…there was nothing.
atlas believed, with all her being, that there must be something after. capellan philosophy and culture taught her that everything is destroyed for a reason, that something must rise to take it’s place. so what happened after the end of the universe?
this question ATE HER ALIVE. as she grew up, atlas trained harder, pushed herself further, trying to break through that nothingness in her visions- trying to see past it. nothing worked. it was not a barrier she could break through her will alone.
when atlas was not training, she loved building and inventing. she was a bright young capellan, and excelled at the creation of automatons. the other augurs requested that she create a thinking automaton that could be relied upon to carry on the teachings of the augurs, should they die out before another augur is born- a very real possibility.
after four years of designing and building said automaton, THEA was created. atlas gave her creation beautiful wings that looked like they were made of stained glass, and an elegant, beak like mask to cover up her mechanical face.
thea was an augur like the rest of them, naturally. she became atlas’ close friend and confidant, and helped her try to augment her clairvoyance through means outside of training…she began seeking power wherever she could find it.
thea created her a mask- one that should enhance her abilities. she made one for every single augur, in fact. atlas’ didn’t work.
years passed. atlas still couldn’t see past the end. she grew ever more powerful.
over time, atlas’ power began to warp her mind, and at some point she decided that if she could not see past the end through her visions, then she would bring about the end HERSELF.
and where was thea, you ask? right by atlas’ side, unable to work up the courage to speak up against her friend, her creator, until it was too late.
until atlas had amassed so much power that her body looked she was made of the night sky itself. until the other augurs, who rose up to stand against atlas, were slaughtered by the monster thea had been created by. until atlas was strong enough to actually bring about the end.
only then did thea act.
she sealed atlas away, contained her a glass orb, and brought atlas back to the frozen hell she came from- CAPELLA. the capellans were tasked with looking after atlas and making sure she stayed contained.
thea retreated back to the empty world of augurs, and waited for the next generation of augurs to be born.
she made masks. she grieved. she looked ahead. she waited.
parallels between cassandra and atlas
in case it’s not clear- atlas and thea are supposed to parallel cassandra and paola. hell, i even made atlas look like cassandra a bit to hammer this home. mm…well, they’re more foils of each other, really.
atlas
desperate to get off capella
can see big picture (end of universe)
intentionally made thea for a specific purpose
views thea as not quite being her equal
thea does not keep her grounded
thea does not speak up against her until it’s too late
cassandra
wants nothing more than to be able to go back to capella
can see the small picture (only her own future)
accidentally made paola
views paola as her equal
paola keeps her grounded
paola is very much willing to shoot down cassandra’s ideas and speak up against her
honestly, it's the relationships these capellans have with their inorganic sidekicks that make or break them. had atlas seen and treated thea as an equal, thea would have felt comfortable telling her that maybe ending the universe is a bad idea. if paola had just been a yes man to cassandra, it’s very possible that while she wouldn’t have gone nuts and tried to destroy the universe…cassandra definitely would have killed herself by now.
moral of the story: treat your robotic sidekicks right, they might just be the voice of reason when you’re about to destroy the universe
fragments of atlas
if atlas is still around inside cassandra, she’s much weaker- more of a fragment of her former self than simply a weaker version. as such, with a bit of getting used to it, atlas would be something cassandra can keep contained inside her until she dies (and atlas with her).
atlas just becomes this asshole voice that pipes up every now and then that cassandra either ignores or makes sarcastic comments back at.
but of course…this is after a good deal of panicking and weeks of anxiety after learning atlas is still around at all
what happened with dulcie & atlas
atlas possessed dulcie for over a decade after the fall of capella. however, dulcie was so strong mentally and fought back so hard that she managed to immobilize both herself and atlas most of the time. whenever it was just atlas in control, dulcie was screaming and fighting- enough so that atlas really wasn’t able to destroy any other worlds. when dulcie was in control, however….she was either looking for ways to separate them, or trying to kill herself.
dulcie eventually succeeded in separating herself from atlas, and temporarily contained her, knowing that eventually atlas would break free and not really caring so long as she was far away from the monster. after this, dulcie managed to get out an sos signal…to cassandra’s ship, which was coincidentally nearby.
cassandra and dulcie catch up and start travelling together, and eventually fall in love. however…the guilt of just leaving atlas and the fear of her coming after her eats away at dulcie, and she tells cassandra everything. they go to new capella to talk to keandra and brooklyn- the only other capellans who know about what happened so many years ago. they all agree to do everything in their power to stop atlas, and go to the planet that atlas was contained on.
it goes horribly. atlas is indeed free, and waiting for them to come back- she could have left, but why leave when her chosen vessel is being served to her on a silver platter?
atlas possesses cassandra, the one she always wanted- the augur, and just flies the fuck away. cassandra is much weaker mentally than dulcie, and can only barely stop her from killing her loved ones and in general destroying the galaxy.
paola and the gang chase after atlas- the only way they’re able to keep track of her is by the star map in cassandra’s breast pocket. on thea’s small planet, dulcie and thea are able to separate atlas from cassandra, and dulcie, in an attempt to end it all, and out of a need for revenge against atlas….dulcie uses her vitakinesis to kill atlas, which also ends her own life.
when cassandra regains consciousness, atlas is gone and dulcie is dead. cassandra hates herself because dulcie died fixing a mistake they both made.
note: atlas possesses cassandra for a way longer time period than i’ve made it sound like - she’s possessed for three months.
anyway- the easiest way to send cassandra into a panic is to imply that atlas is still alive. just the implication will have her breaking down. even worse- the idea that a part of atlas still lives on inside of her. it was something dulcie was always afraid of, and something that terrifies cassandra as well.
if atlas is still alive, then it means that dulcie died for nothing, and that…that would just destroy cassandra.
keeping atlas secret
the lengths cassandra went to to keep what happened to atlas a secret is really just astounding. and when she finally decides to fess up, to tell her mother and the rest of the capellans what happened and accept their punishment…brooklyn tells her she can’t, because revealing that would have much wider effects than just the consequences cassandra would face.
cassandra & revealing the truth on earth
cassandra will not reveal what happened on capella to anyone easily. honestly, its highly likely she’ll never tell you. there’s a reason she told splinter it, which will hopefully become apparent as that story unfolds. and the ONLY reason she told the boys is because she didn’t want them somehow finding out from someone else.
cassandra may grow close enough to april to tell her the truth about capella, but i don’t see cassandra telling casey or karai…EVER.
this is cassandra’s deepest, darkest secret and she is deeply ashamed of it. the boys knows this, and would know to never tell anyone else about it.
paola finding out
paola wouldn’t know about atlas unless cassandra told her or ava let it slip, and it could go one of two ways
cassandra accepting paola for who she is and letting go of who cassandra wanted her to be, them building up trust and respect and friendship until cassandra finally tells her one night, it all coming out in one long tear filled rush.
ava letting it slip before cassandra’s worked through her issues with paola and cassandra being terrified that paola’s going to think less of her and then getting angry at her own fear, and lashing out. eventually breaking down into tears because she cares immensely about what paola thinks of her, but doesn’t want to care. meanwhile, paola’s just…confused. why would she blame cassandra for something that has nothing to do with paola?
the world atlas made for cassandra
atlas tried to keep cassandra complacent by sticking her in this dream of a reality where everything went ‘right’- essentially, she stuck her in the cassalyn au in this dream. except..things were even better. instead of losing contact with her childhood friends, the way cassalyn does, cassandra is still close to all of them, and is engaged to dulcie (note: dulcie has not died at this point.), and cassandra is a captain in the capellan fleet as opposed to a diplomat. cassandra also is under the illusion that this is how things have always been
the thing that nags at cassandra until she wakes up is paola. cassandra feels like something’s missing, that something’s not quite right, and all she has to go off of is the name paola. instead of being like creepily “there’s no one named paola :) :) “ everyone’s like “oh, maybe it’s someone you used to know”- everyone acts like real people instead of creepy smiley people.
anyway. cassandra keeps searching for paola, finding nothing. but little things keep adding up- cassandra not being used to the name cassalyn and introducing herself as cassandra despite (in the dream) not using that name for close to 25 years, trying to use the fire inclination instead of the light inclination and this feeling that something’s not right when she looks in the mirror.
everything comes to a head in this ball scene where cassandra’s looking at her reflection in the window, and the window’s frosted over. cassandra makes a line down her reflection’s cheek, where her scar would be normally, and that just. sets everything off. cassandra starts screaming for paola, glass is cracking everywhere, all the ppl at the ball have frozen like goddamn statues.
then, someone comes walking through the mass of people. a rather short, blonde capellan with a sky blue dress on approaches cassandra with her hands behind her back. she has this smile on her face that would make anyone nervous.
she says that cassandra could have had everything she ever want if she’d just stopped looking for holes, for loose threads. she says that just like in the outside world, the biggest threat to cassandra’s happiness is herself.
this is, of course, atlas. i want it to feel so incredibly creepy and unnerving when atlas shows up- i want it to feel like the meeting with c.hara in the genocide ending of u.ndertale. and during the whole encounter atlas is slowly dripping star…goop? and then at the end when the whole fake world is destroyed she melts back into her monstrous form.

2017 Triumph Street Cup Review
Last year it was the all-new Street Twin and it was good. Last Friday it was the all-new Street Scrambler, and it too was good if that’s your bag, man. Now it’s the also all-new Street Cup, which also builds on that same Street Twin platform with 900cc High Torque parallel-Twin to create a road-racier version, tested this week at its launch in Spain. 2017 Triumph Street Scrambler First Ride Review In a nutshell, Triumph bolted on rear shocks which are 8mm longer (with slightly firmer dual-rate springs and firmer damping) to raise the rear of the bike, which steepens rake and reduces trail compared to the Street Twin (24.3 degrees/ 98.7mm Cup, 25.1 deg./ 102.4mm ST). Then a lower, more forward handlebar is bolted into the clamps to pull the rider also lower and forward, a flyscreen and a racy tailsection is added, and Bob, as the Brits say, is your uncle. What it is, is sort of a mini-Thruxton, Triumph says, with that same mission but without all the horsepower and higher price tag. The Thrux uses the High Power version of the 1200cc Twin to produce 97 claimed horsepower and 82.6 lb-ft of torque, weighs a claimed 454 pounds and “starts at” $13,000. The Street Cup uses the High Torque 900cc to crank out 55 hp and 59 lb-ft, weighs 441 pounds and sells for $10,500. Hey, wait a minute, that’s only a $1500 price difference. What happened to $8,700 for the Street Twin?
The Cup also upgrades you into dual instruments with old-school rev counter in a polished stainless steel bezel, a la Thruxton, complete with gear-position indicator, two tripmeters, fuel gauge with range to empty, average and current fuel consumption, clock and traction-control setting. The width of the “Ace” bars is slightly adjustable. Not sure, but you do get “an authentic bullet seat” and bar-end mirrors, along with “premium finishes, hand applied coach-lining and exciting two-tone paint schemes.” (Coach lining, as I learned, is that black stripe between the yellow and silver in the photo below. It’s hand-painted by old-world craftsmen at Triumph, who sign each gas tank.)
There’s also the shorter and lighter twin satin black and stainless steel upswept silencers, “for a unique raw, rich and full soundtrack,” which are cool, but even so Triumph says the Cup is 3 kg heavier than the Street Twin; that’s almost 7 pounds. (Their 437 lb claimed dry weight for the ST turned into 478 on the MO scales after we added gas. Just for perspective, that’s about 22 pounds heavier than the heaviest bike in our 2015 Superbike shootout, the Aprilia RSV4 RF. And it’s 75 pounds heavier than our favorite “modern” middleweight Twin, the Yamaha FZ-07.)
The “Retro,” in other words, goes clear to the bone. Even though 52.6 rear-wheel horsepower isn’t a lot, I am forced to repeat once again that it feels like more, thanks to the 900cc HT Twin’s excellent torque curve, which has the Cup motoring smartly away from way low in its powerband.
That top line would be the Street Twin’s torque curve as measured in last April’s comparison test. The Street Cup has the same drivetrain. The Cup also shares the Street Twin’s excellent light-pull clutch, flawless five-speed gearbox and excellent, smooth throttle response – and it’s a super-easy bike for anyone from rank beginner to hop on, not stall, and roar off upon. On the Spanish motorway, thanks to the more-forward cant of your torso and to the flyscreen, 90 mph and 5000 rpm feels like a perfectly acceptable cruising speed with minor vibrations beginning to creep into the grips (70 and 80 mph are dead-smooth to my paws): Rolling the throttle on from there dials up 110 indicated pretty quickly with a bit more left (handlebar vibes increasing with velocidad.)
We were frankly surprised at what a great curvy road tool the Street Twin was last year, though we probably shouldn’t have been now knowing the recent track record of Triumph’s testing crew. The Cup is even better. Shifting that little bit more bike and rider weight onto the front tire gives the rider more feedback, decreasing the trail those few millimeters lets the Cup change direction quicker, and those longer shocks out back left my footpeg feelers completely unscathed after a couple hours of excellent curve slaying at a pace which had me sometimes wishing I was was wearing more protective protective gear. None of the heavier fast guys shot any sparks either. The 270-degree Twin puts out the right noises, shifts cleanly up through the gearbox without the clutch and also down if you time your blip right, which makes it an excellent place to attend the School of Classic Riding. Without a ton of power, you pick your lines and maintain your momentum in a higher gear, relying more on the Cup’s excellent torque than on high rpm horsepower. The longer and slightly stiffer shocks still stroke through 120mm, as does the fork straight off the Street Twin, and both ends are really well controlled and damped under my 160 pounds.
An upgraded caliper replaces the Street Twin’s unit and squeezes a floating 310mm disc, but it’s still a two-piston slider. It gets the job done on the road. Street Twin commenters last year chastised me severely for not fully explaining why that bike uses a bias-ply front tire and a radial rear. The Cup uses the same Pirelli Phantoms, and this year I cornered Chassis Engineer and ex-roadracer David Lopez with the same question again. He doesn’t know. Extensive testing with all kinds of combinations, he said, kept revealing that the bias/radial combo is just what works best, providing the quickest, most confident handling with good high-speed stability and the best “feel.” Mysterioso, he shrugs. Nobody knows from tires. Back in rush-hour Seville traffic, I’m not getting any younger, but the lower, more-forward grips aren’t nearly as low and forward as I was concerned they might be – just a little more sporty than the super-comfortable Street Twin. in fact the ergos are so similar that Triumph left the footpegs in the same spot as the ST’s, which is perfectly okay for 5-foot-8 me. (Lopez says a lot of previous-gen Thruxton owners complained their footpegs were too far rearward.)
The seat’s almost as comfortable as the ST’s, I think, though from the looks of it, your passenger’s not going to enjoy that “authentic bullet seat” as much as the driver will. If retro is your thing, there’s no denying this is a very pretty motorcycle and a very thoroughly designed and nicely put-together one – as well it should be for $10,500. MO never did get a new Thruxton to review after its initial launch, so the only question I’d have to ask myself if I felt my inner Anglophile being drawn toward a new Street Cup is, why not cough up a measly $2500 more for the full monty Thruxton, a bike so rare and beautiful we MOrons can’t even get one? 2017 Triumph Street Cup + Highs Sporty yet comfy 60+ mpg, 10,000-mile oil changes Yes, you can get cruise control, heated grips and 150 other high-quality factory chinguses – Sighs The price has crept up from the Street Twin A more powerful front brake wouldn’t be a bad thing A young motojournalist wanted to know what a rev counter is? 2017 Triumph Street Cup Specifications Engine Type Liquid cooled, 8 valve, SOHC, 270° crank-angle parallel-Twin Capacity 900cc Bore/Stroke 84.6 x 80mm Compression Ratio 10.55:1 Maximum Power 55 Hp (40.5kW) @ 5900 rpm (claimed) Maximum Torque 59 lb-ft (80Nm) @ 3230 rpm (claimed) Fuel system Multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection Exhaust Brushed 2 into 2 exhaust system with twin brushed silencers Final drive X-ring chain Clutch Torque assist.
