Secrets - 2
Ransom Drysdale x Reader
Summary: You hid your pregnancy form your ex-boyfriend, Ransom, and managed to keep your secret hidden for six years. What you didn’t know was, how secrets have a way of revealing themselves.
Word Count: 3564
Warnings: just some swearing
A/N: I really just used this chapter as an excuse to rewatch Knives Out huh
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Your “little” secret, the one you had tried your very best to keep hidden, was out. There was no running away now, no amount of lying would save you out of the confrontation that was headed your way. And believe me, you had tried to come up with something, fabricate a lie that would give you enough time to pack up and leave with your little girl. You cursed yourself for believing the bullshit of hiding in plain sight. The only lie you had come up with was maybe tell Ransom you cheated on him, but there was no way he would believe that after you nearly had a full breakdown upon running into him. That, and of course the little matter of Mary looking near identical to Ransom.
You paced back and forth all around the living room, careful as to not step on any of the toys scattered around. Or the damn Legos. Your eyes drifted towards the clock on the wall, obsessively checking the time every few minutes. Knowing the whole ordeal wouldn’t be okay for a little child to witness, you had remembered to text Ransom to meet some time after ten, when Mary was safely tucked away in her bed. You just prayed he would be able to keep his voice down enough for her to stay that way, but you were that most likely wouldn’t be the case with Ransom. After all, he had a flair for the dramatic. The sound of a car door snapped you out of trance, you ran to open the door before he had a chance to ring the bell.
Throwing open the door with your heart just about beating in your throat, you saw him. He looked the same more or less, aside from the slight creases you spotted forming on his forehead. He still was the man you once had loved despite everything and everyone. Loved, as in past tense. Because you totally were over him and had been for a while now. You had more important things to consider, a daughter to think of. You were a fool for falling in love with Ransom Drysdale, but those days were gone. You gestured for him to come in, unable to meet his eyes properly.
He looked around the living room, it was small by his standards of being raised in fortune. His gaze drifting from the toys all around to the pictures on the walls, there were plenty of Mary’s baby photos that Ransom remained focused for a full minute. You exhaled slowly, the bundle of nerves knotting in the pit of your stomach. He finally looked at you. You raised a hand.
“Before we begin this… discussion, Mary’s sleeping upstairs so I’m asking you to keep your voice down.” You sat on the loveseat, motioning for him to take the armchair across you. Ransom’s eyes flicked towards the stairs for a split second. He sat down, not even bothering to take off his coat.
“I can’t believe you.” The words came out of his mouth slowly, accusingly. Maybe you deserved it.
“I’m sorry.”
“You can’t just say you’re sorry. How could you hide this from me? I get why you hate me and I don’t care but how could you keep my daughter away from me, all these years? What if I hadn’t decided to stop at a random grocery store, then what? Were you ever planning to tell me?” Ransom spitted out, a kind of fire that you never saw before flicked in his eyes. You were too familiar with angry Ransom, but not this one. Not like this.
“Ransom, I don’t hate you but you have to understand, you’re not exactly cut out to be a father. And we didn’t exactly part on good terms. I wasn’t about to put my child through that.” You felt bad, for not allowing Mary to meet her dad, for not allowing Ransom to bond with his daughter, but at the end f the day you had made a decision. You had made your bed, now might as well lie in it.
A dark chuckle escaped his lips. “You don’t know that.” You noted the slight falter of his voice. “Just because my parents fucked me up doesn’t mean that I would be a bad father. Hell, Y/N, you never even gave me the option.” He shook his head, his disheveled hair swaying along.
“I’m sorry.”
“Stop saying that.”
You opened your mouth to apologize again almost instinctively, but stopped. Straining your ears, you recognized the familiar pitter patter of a pair of small feet coming down the stairs. Mary stood on the last step of the stairs; her bunny clutched between her arms. She looked between you and Ransom through her long lashes, yet another thing she inherited from her dad. Ransom shot to his feet.
“Hey honey, what’s wrong? Let’s get you tucked back in.” You rose form where you sat and headed towards the little figure after sending Ransom a warning look. It would have to wait.
You picked up Mary with no protest on her part, the mop of tangled blonde hair resting against your shoulder as you carried her upstairs. You saw Ransom follow you quietly from the corner of your eye, his thin coat now left discarded on the couch. Entering the small room that matched the state of the living room with the toy situation, you turned on the nightlamp, casting soft purple hues on your faces. Mary was already practically asleep as you gently placed her down, pulling the covers over her small frame. You placed a small kiss on her forehead.
Ransom watched this whole scene unfold in front of him from the doorway as he leaned on it, eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly. There was this weird sensation, this warmth in his chest that sent every part of his mind into a confused and slightly panicked state. He had never in a million years thought he would have a child, let alone feel whatever he was feeling towards that child. In a way, he knew you were right. He wasn’t made for being a father, and he originally had no desire of ever staring a family when the one he grew up in was such a hot mess. But now, this child had appeared out of pure luck in his life and he felt a tug towards her. To give her what he never got from his parents.
If someone had told Ransom the feelings he would have as he watched the woman he loved tuck in their daughter, he would have told them to fuck off. That it wasn’t funny. Indeed, it wasn’t, Ransom couldn’t even make fun of this dumbfounded state he was in.
After you were sure Mary was completely asleep, you got up as slowly as you could to not disturb her. Ransom followed you back to the living room. You took your previous positions, the tense air almost giving you a headache.
“I’m in.” He spoke after a while, breaking the silence with soft words. His blue eyes rose to yours.
You shook your head. “You don’t know what you’re doing.”
“I-”
“No, listen to me,” you cut off, “this isn’t something you just get to decide on a whim. This is an actual human child, who has feelings and all, not some toy that piques your interest. Once you are in you’re in for life. No take backs.” You whisper-shouted, not trusting that Ransom was aware of all the responsibility parenthood brings.
“You listen to me.” He pointed a finger at you. “It was you who broke up with me, and it was you who couldn’t even be bothered with a call to let me know you were pregnant with our child, Y/N. I fucking know that there are no take backs. But you should have given me the choice of whether I wanted to be a father or not.” He sighed, rubbing his temples. “I would have been in from the very start.”
You leaned back, his words hitting you like a ton of bricks. “Didn’t seem like you cared much about me, you were seen with that model barely two weeks after we broke up.” You shot back weakly, the hurt feelings of that time washing over you.
He clicked his tongue, annoyed. “Believe it or not, nothing happened with her. It was just a show. I have a reputation, dear Y/N.” A cruel smirk appeared on his face for a quick second before disappearing. “In fact, nothing happened with anyone since you dumped me. Sure, sex here and there but,” he shrugged, “I cared.” Ransom tried his best to act nonchalant, to keep up his image, but couldn’t help the words that slipped out. He was surprised at himself, how easily he was talking about his feelings, but a distant part of him still remembered how simple it was for him to talk to you.
Doubt still lingered in your eyes, finding it hard to believe his words. Ransom always had a way with words. This was the man who never even could bring himself to utter the words ‘I love you’ and yet here he was, talking about how he cared and all. You shook your head.
“Now I know you had my number, you could have called if you cared.”
“Seriously, Y/N?” I’m sorry for honoring your wish of,” he mused, tapping his chin in mock thought, “what was it? Ah yes, never wanting to see my jerk face again.” His lips smiled but his eyes remained cold as ice.
“Ransom.” You pleaded, the heartbreak from over six years ago felt as if it was just yesterday, you felt your chest tighten. He watched your face intently.
“You wanna know I never called? Or tried to get back together?” He got up, pacing along the room. “Fuck, Y/N, I’m not stupid. I always knew you deserved much better than me. It didn’t matter how I felt or whether I missed you or not, I knew you would be better off.” He stopped in front of the biggest picture on the wall. It was a picture taken on Mary’s first birthday, showed her trying to blow off the candles while you held her on your lap, smiles on everyone in the picture. His jaw tightened.
He tilted his head. “Now you know.” He muttered, quiet. Almost… sad.
“Can you, from the bottom of your heart, promise me? That you’ll be here.” The lump formed in your throat made it hard to get the words out, you couldn’t believe this was happening. In the hours you spent pacing and imagining how the conversation would go, this turn of events was the last thing you thought was possible. You thought you knew Ransom, you probably knew him the best, but you couldn’t recognize the man standing just a few feet in front of you, his eyes still fixed on the frame.
“I know I was a dick and hell, I still am. But,” he finally looked at you, “I promise. I promise to be here and do my damn best for Mary… and for you.” His voice trembled ever so slightly, never could you remember seeing Ransom like this. Not once in those two years you knew him. You stood up; shoulders slumped and tears prickling your eyes, threating to spill at any moment. You stopped barely a step before him.
Neither of you dared to move as you stared into each other’s eyes, a silent conversation taking place and making up for the lost years. You never realized how much you had missed him. You reached up to stroke his face, your fingers aching to touch him, to feel him. Your fingertips glided over his clean-shaven jaw; Ransom closed his eyes at your touch. You gulped, dropping your hand to rest on his chest, not daring to do more. His hand came to rest above yours, his thumb gently rubbing the back of your hand.
“I’m here, Y/N. I swear.” His words heavy on his whispering lips, he gently tilted your face to meet your eyes. He chuckled softly upon seeing the tears welling up in your eyes. “Why the tears?”
“Shut up.” You sniffled. “I… I wanted to tell you Ransom. But I wasn’t sure if— if you’d want this. Or if you would end up hating me more. And honestly, I wasn’t sure if I could handle that.”
“I understand.”
“And with your family too, even the thought of dealing with them just gives me a headache. Though I guess it’s unavoidable now.”
He groaned, a deep sound of annoyance from the back of his throat. “Those people can eat shit, they’re not coming remotely close to Mary.”
“Your mom wouldn’t be happy if you didn’t tell her. Or Harlan.” You mused; he knew you were right. He still hated the thought.
“Let’s not think about them right now.” You were suddenly too aware of the closeness, of the placement of his hands, the familiar touch sending tingles down your spine.
“Yeah? What should we think of then?”
He just gave you a look before leaning in and kissing you. Maybe thousands of times he had kissed you before, you would think you would be used to it by now, yet it felt so new, so unfamiliar due to the time apart. Your heart leapt out of your chest, beating wildly, your whole body cursing you for not reaching out sooner. The feelings you had done your best to tame snapped out of their cages at that moment, never to be trapped again. You deepened the kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“I missed you, angel.” He pulled back; his words barely audible.
“We have a lot to talk about, Ransom.” You met his gaze, reluctant. You lead him by the hand towards the loveseat. You both sat, holding each other close, not ready to let go yet.
“First, there is the matter of introducing you to Mary. Properly, I mean.” You sighed.
“Has she ever asked about me?”
You bit your lip at the memory. “Once. A couple of months ago, we were watching some Disney movie when she asked me why she didn’t have dad. I just told her you were away. She never asked again.” You remembered the shake of your hands when Mary asked you that question, looking at you with wide blue eyes. You remembered the whirl of your mind as you quickly tried to figure out what to say. You remembered sobbing quietly into your pillow when Mary was finally asleep that night.
You looked at Ransom. “It was so, so hard.”
“If you had only told me.”
“I know.” Your eyes fell on one of the dolls laying on the floor. “Should we talk to a therapist?”
Ransom scoffed. You rolled your eyes at him. “I’m just wondering out loud. No need for the attitude.”
“I should just meet her. I don’t know, play with her. I wanna get to know her, Y/N.”
“She’s a great kid. She’s… a lot like you, and not just the looks. Wicked smart, and has the sweetest heart. Her current favorite animal is bunnies, she is very excited to start school next semester and she will talk about that for hours.” You laughed. “She hates carrots, and is allergic to strawberries. You can pretty much bribe her to do anything with chocolate chip cookies. You’ll love her.”
“I already love her. She’s my kid.” A genuine grin spread on his handsome face.
You talked for hours on that couch, with mostly you doing the talking. Ransom wanted to know everything he could, from her first words to her entire list of likes and disliked. Your heart swelled at his interest and the way he kept asking you questions.
It was a little after the clock struck one and a million yawns from you, Ransom got up.
“You should sleep.” He grabbed his coat.
“Would you… like to stay over?” You pressed your lips together.
Ransom smirked. “Day one and you’re already trying to get me into your bed? Wow, Y/N.”
“Not like that,” you huffed, “we don’t have a guestroom but the couch’s pretty comfortable.”
He flashed you a smile. “Where are the sheets?”
------------
After a night filled with tossing and turning brought by the fact that Ransom freaking Drysdale was sleeping on your couch downstairs, you opened your eyes to the sun filtering through your window. It wasn’t the sun, however, that woke you from your dreamless sleep, it was the smell. You followed it down and into the kitchen, confused, and came to a halt at the scene in front of you.
The cabinets were open, and the sweet smell was stronger, but the strangest thing bay far was how Ransom was standing in front of the stove.
“Are you cooking?” You rubbed your eyes, making sure you weren’t still asleep.
“Pancakes,” he showed you the box, “you said it’s Mary’s favourite breakfast.” Ransom flashed you a smile. “Cute PJs.”
“How come I never once saw you cook before? Fatherhood really changes a man.” He chuckled as he flipped the pancake. You could get used to this. Ransom turned to you to say something before his attention turned to a spot behind you, eyes slightly wide. You turned to look, and saw Mary to no surprise.
The little girl focused on Ransom, striding towards him with determination.
“Are you my dad?” She looked up to him, her words sending Ransom into a coughing fit.
“What? Mary, honey, what makes you say that?” You gulped, rushing to her side before kneeling down.
“He looks like me.” She shrugged at you and turned back to Ransom. “Are you?” her eyebrows raised; she crossed her arms. Ransom kneeled as well; every move uncertain. Nervous. He looked at you. You gave him a slight nod, might as well tell her.
“Yes.” He nodded. Mary squinted her eyes at him, before nodding back. Her serious face broke into a smile before she leapt forward, her small arms tightening around Ransom’s neck. He swayed back at the surprising force, his wide eyes snapping to yours. After a moment of shock, he hesitantly hugged her back, his hands ever so gentle on her back. Pulling yourself up, you moved towards the window, not wanting for either of them to see the tears in your eyes.
Six years, you had secretly let yourself imagine this exact moment. In those rare instances you allowed your mind to wander over the possible scenarios, one question would repeat in your mind. How would Mary react? Would she be distant, angry? Would she cry? Be disappointed? Hate you for not telling her sooner? Would she even want to meet her dad? You would agonize over these unanswered questions time and time, the whole thing feeling too far away sometimes. Yet here it was, right in front of you, all of your questions answered. The smell of burning snapped you out of the moment.
“Shi—shoot.” Ransom pulled back, mad at the pancake for breaking the moment. Mary gasped.
“Pancakes! I’ll go get Mr. Chuckles!” She darted out, leaving a bewildered Ransom behind. He turned to you.
“That went better than I thought.” He shook his head, swallowing, he was slightly ashamed of the tears in his eyes.
“Yeah,” you nodded, your voice quiet, your smile small.
Mary was back in a second, excitedly babbling about how much she loved pancakes and how waffles were a close second. Ransom flashed her a smile, his eyes twinkling with pride. You grabbed plates and set the table, stealing glances at Mary’s happy face and the identical look on Ransom’s. Your family.
“But daddy,” she turned to Ransom, whose heart skipped a beat at the word, “where were you?”
Your mouth fell open. “Honey—”
“I was away.” Ransom cut you. “But I’m here now, princess. And I swear I’m not going anywhere.” She grinned at his gentle but reassuring words, satisfied.
“Okay. Oh! You have to meet my toys!” She rose up, ready to take him up to her room and make sure he memories all the names of her toys.
“How about you finish your breakfast first?” You motioned at the untouched stack of pancakes sitting in front of her.
Rest of the breakfast was filled with Mary talking to Ransom between bites of pancakes, asking him a ton of questions and grinning. Ransom’s gaze never faltered away, he listened to all of her ramblings and answered every question. You watched the two of them, unsure whether to be amazed at Mary’s excitement or this shift in Ransom’s character. Where was the man who drove you up the walls? Where was the cocky, selfish jerk everyone knew him to be? He turned his gaze to you upon feeling you stare, winking you before turning back to your daughter.
All the baggage, all the worry you carried within you melted away, leaving no trace behind. For the first time in six years, you felt yourself completely relax.

Jisung groaned as his phone rang, the one night he actually falls asleep early and Changbin decided to call him. “What man? I’m sleeping- wait what?” he rubbed the sleep from his eyes before crawling out of bed. “You did what?”
And that was how Jisung found himself wandering around town looking for you, it was getting pretty late. Changbin was only worried because you blocked his number and had no way of making sure you were ok. Jisung walked inside your job and walked over to Chaeyoung. “Is she here?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” she glared at him.
“Look Chaeyoung, this isn’t my drama. I’m only a bystander, and yet I had to get out of my bed, run halfway across town just to make sure she’s ok so could you like cut me some slack here?”
“It’s fine” you walked out from the back and sighed.
“Thank God you’re ok” he pulled out his phone to text Changbin.
“If you text him, I’ll break your arm.” Jisung raised his hands in retreat. “Fine fine, since you two dragged me in the middle of this can someone at least tell me what’s going on.” he opted taking a seat.
You leaned against the bar top. “How about you tell me what Binnie told you?”
“He just told me he fucked up, and he was worried about you.”
“That’s it? You got out of bed to look for me all because Binnie said he fucked up?” you raised a brow.
“Yes and no. I mean he’s my best friend, I’ve gotten out of bed for less. And you’re my friend too, and I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you either.”
You sighed shrinking into yourself. “I’m sorry for snapping at you… I’m just upset…. Binnie doesn’t usually lie to me… He went to an arranged marriage meeting...and he hid it from me...it doesn’t matter that he rejected her. He shouldn’t have it…”
“I’m sure he didn’t want you to overreact or be sad overthinking it”
“Imagine how I feel now? I It’s so hard acting like everything is ok… Acting like our very obvious class difference isn’t there…” your eyes began to water. “I’m just a bartender… my family has nothing but debt and a farm…” you wiped away the stray tears that fell. “Everyday I wake up next to Changbin it feels like a dream. He’s so perfect and kind and I know this is temporary… it’s only a matter of time before his family makes him marry someone else...or that he realizes I’m nothing… I have nothing… I can give him nothing… That he’s gonna meet someone pretty, smart, more charming...and he’s gonna get bored of me an leave.” you choked back a sob. “That he claims he didn’t tell me about this meeting for my sake because he doesn’t want me to worry…. But I’m always worried…” you covered your face. “I’m always so scared….”
Jisung’s eyes softened as he gently rubbed your shoulder. He called your name so softly, his own eyes watering at just how broken you looked. “How long have you been feeling like this…? Have you ever told Changbin-Hyung?”
You just shook your head, you couldn’t bare to look at Jisung. You couldn’t bare to see the obvious pity you knew he had for you.”
“How could I tell him…”
“Because it’s not just your burden to carry” a familiar voice echoed from the door way. Changbin stood, heaving heavily covered in sweat.
Your head shot up looking over at him, you quickly tried to cover the fact that you were crying. Shooting Jisung a glare. “You called him?!”
He shook his head and raised his hands again. “It wasn’t me! I swear.”
“I called him” Chaeyoung leaned against the backroom. “You two have a lot to talk about...And running away isn’t going to help. Rather you fix this, or break up...you need to talk.” she sighed “Jisung, c’mon let’s give them some space for a bit”
“You don’t gotta tell me twice” Jisung hopped up following Chaeyoung out.
“Please don’t run away again…” He took a step closer to you, hesitant and slowly. Almost like he was approaching a wounded animal. His eyes were soft, brows furrowed. “Baby...please…” He took a seat at you across the bar.
Your eyes were wide, pupils darting to look at everything. You were scared, your anxiety getting the best of you. It didn’t happen often but when it did he was usually the only one who could calm you. “Breathe Baby… deep breath…” he held your hand lacing his fingers with yours. “It’s ok… It’s ok…” he cooed. “You don’t have to put up a strong front for me…” he tried to cover it, but the hurt was so evident in his eyes. His heart broke that you were so easily able to share all your concerns with Jisung. “Do you want me to go first...or should you…?”
“You…” you mumbled, your gaze never leaving his; hands laced between your fingers.
He took a deep breath. “I love you… more than anything or one in my life… I would do anything to make you happy.” He rubbed your hand with his thumb. “I made a mistake… My sister arranged the meeting because it was more so a business deal than anything else… I knew from the beginning that I would say no, and I fought to not go but...I could have fought harder…” his shoulders slumped. “It’s not Noona’s fault either… She wanted me to tell you… And I was going to but… I just didn’t want to worry you…” he sighed. “I’m so sorry…”
Your eyes watered as you shook your head. “I’m just… so scared…”
“Don’t be scared… I love you and I’m never going to do anything to make you doubt that.” he tilted your chin to look at him with his free hand. “Baby… I’m going to meet a lot of people in my life… a lot of women. And no one will ever be better than you… I will pick you over and over and over again… Because that what it means to be in a relationship… It’s picking the same person every day of my life.” he smiled softy. “And for as long as you let me, I’ll continue to pick you…” he cupped your cheeks gently, gazing into your eyes with that warmness that always made you feel safe. “Can you forgive me?”
You nodded attempting to choke back your tears. Despite all your insecurities, despite your anxiety he really was your home. “C’mere…” you moved out of his hold to move around the bar, and run into his arms. He pulled you into his chest, bundling you as close as possible. “I’m so sorry…”
“It’s ok…” you gripped the front of his t-shirt, your fingers still shaking. Looking up at him he pulled you into a kiss. His lips moving gently against yours as he deepened the kiss. The bitterness of liquor on your lips, and desperation on his tongue.
You weren’t even sure of how you made it back home. You refused to leave his arms, refused to break the kiss. You needed him.
Stumbling into your apartment, your back hit the mattress as he pinned you under him. His mouth leaving sweet kisses on your skin. His hoarse voice groaning your name over and over like a prayer.
His whole life he’s never had to want for anything, and he recognized that he’s never had to work too hard for much. But you were the single most priceless thing in his life, and he’d never stop working to prove to you how much you deserved to be happy.
You gripped his back, nails raking along his skin as he pumped into you. Your legs hooking around his hips, holding him closer to you as you moaned. “B-Binnie please…” your eyes clenched in pleasure.
He pulled back just slightly to get a good look at you. Your body convulsing from pleasure, lips parted as you begged, body flushed and warm all from him. He brushed your hair out of you face, placing a kiss on the crown of your head. “I love you so much…” he whispered.
You looked up at him, biting down on your lip as you tried to calm your racing heart. “You’re my whole world…” you threaded your fingers through his hair, brushing them against his scalp.
He gave you that lazy smirk of his before grabbing something from the side table. He’d been trying to figure out the perfect moment to propose. Big dinners, events, huge moments with your families. It all felt off and he always lost his nerves. But in this moment here. Just the two of you lost in one another. This was the moment he was looking for. He grabbed the ring from the side table. “There’s still so many ways I want to love you… so many things I want to learn about you...And if you’ll have me… I want to spend our whole lives doing it…”
Your eyes widened as you looked at the beautiful diamond ring, words escaped you. Your eyes watered before you nodded pulling him into a kiss. He chuckled kissing you back, showering you with tiny pecks as he pulled away to slip on the ring.
There wasn’t much that could be done about your anxiety or insecurities. A life time of trauma wasn’t going to be resolved in a single conversation. But he sure as hell was going to work hard to at least reassure you everyday that he loved you.
End.
Mini series complete. I hope you guys enjoyed that and special thanks to @soobinsmile ❤️❤️❤️

250+ Followers Celebration! Proposal HCs [Yukimura, Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, Mitsunari]
Requested by: @nad-zeta
Notes: Hm… I suppose ‘mitsu’ means both Mitsus? xD Okie, I’m doing them both anyway :3
Lmao Halfway through Mitsuhide’s and I’ve completely forgotten that this is supposed to be a PROPOSAL headcannon and not a wedding one oops-
------------------------------
Yukimura:
….. Mah boi Yuki has no idea how to propose to you.
It shocks Shingen, who, by the way, had been expecting it, though perhaps not his vassal asking him for help. Somehow, Sasuke just happens to be there, dropping from the ceiling to contribute.
…. Given Sasuke and Shingen, It’s not surprising when his proposal plan begins to become overwhelmingly similar to that of a wedding… in terms of how much is put into it.
You’re lucky that he manages to stop his lord’s excessive behaviour, fuelled by Sasuke’s modern ideas.
Honestly, he miraculously manages to slip out of the conversation after it changes in a very… Shingen direction, coming across Kenshin not long after.
The God of War’s a good listener, and since he knows it’s gonna interrupt his war plans, he gives his own suggestion: It’s a rather Kenshin suggestion but, Yuki ponders, violence aside, it’s not a bad suggestion.
….He goes through with Kenshin’s idea.
Yukimura knows how much you adore his pet wolf, Muramasa, and just like how Kenshin said he would use his bunnies, he uses Muramasa in an indirect kind of proposal.
He spends several days and several long, gruelling hours attempting to write a letter to you, like Kenshin suggested. And... gives up, realising the sheets of paper hold nothing more than bullet points of the reasons why he loves you.
So that’s what he goes along with.
He sticks pieces of paper everywhere in the Uesugi castle, remembering all the little spots
It begins on your pillow one morning, when Yukimura wakes before you do (maybe to shy away or to check if the others are still there). The message simply says “You look so cute when you wake.”
You know it’s Yuki- His handwriting is obvious to you now. You sleepily flush, following the arrow and turning the page around. It says “Now go get changed, dummy.”
You smile through the blush, doing as he tells you to. The next note is pinned to the collar of your haori. You follow through with this, curious at each next note.
The final one is in an envelope in Muramasa’s jaws, with a final note inside.
It says: “The reason I’m doing this? … Please marry me…”
A flushed Yukimura had been following Muramasa around, finally coming up to you as you give him a hug and whisper “Yes” in his ear.
The boy blushes, grabbing the envelope from your hands and-
Yukimura’s had an engagement ring made for you, encrusted with several small diamonds within the band width, thanks to a suggestion by Sasuke. It’s his way of giving you something even slightly modern.
Your eyes just widen as he smiles, slipping it onto your fourth finger.
“Yuki, it’s supposed to on my left fourth finger, not the right one”
*Cue a blushy mess of a Yukimura*
Nobunaga:
…. Is the type to splurge…. And…. it’s not even the wedding yet… 0.0
To be fair, it takes him not much longer than a quiet night by your side, watching your chest rise and fall beneath the covers for him to make up his mind.
He’s never felt more at peace with his split-second thought to decision.
It takes only a day morning for his plans to begin: Extravagant kimonos designed and commissioned for a couple in his clan colours: Crimson, black and gold, decorated in greys with his clan symbol.
Flowers from who knows where in the world are delivered to the castle on the day, and he assigns Masamune on cooking duty- an utter delight, considering he’s the first and only member of the Oda forces who knows of Nobunaga’s plans.
Hideyoshi has no clue what’s going on when there’s suddenly a small-yet-noticeable dent in funds. Mitsuhide on the other hand, has already sussed out the situation, smirking and ignoring Hideyoshi’s pestering.
(Ieyasu couldn’t honestly care less, and Mitsunari wouldn’t even notice until the event....)
He’s confident too and absolutely certain you’d say yes: That’s your whole reason for staying with him anyway. But that doesn’t stop him from going the extra mile just for you.
He takes the day off (as much as he can xD He’s still a Daimyo after all), taking you to a particular field of flowers your eyes have lingered upon many-a-time he’s headed off to war in that direction.
He’s not sure if you’ve realised it, but your lips had once spoken quietly, “I’d like to go there one day…”. He knows it’s cheesy, but he’ll pretty much do as you say… with some level of arrogance, of course- It’s Nobunaga, after all xD
He takes you there in the middle of spring, when the flowers are in full bloom- He’s sent a handful of (rather excited) scouts to check.
He takes you out that same day, picking up the wrapped bundle of completed kimonos, handcrafted and specially designed by one of the best seamstresses, and Masamune’s meal in a basket beside him.
And despite the lavash everything he has for you back in the castle when you return, his proposal is simple, genuine and… well, less demanding.
When you arrive at the field, he unravels the bundle of cloth and drapes one over your shoulders as you stare at the flowers in awe. It catches your attention and you run your fingers along the greys and blacks of the fabric, tracing the embroidered sakura on the inside.
“Nobunaga-”, your lips begin, only to be cut off with a gasp: He’s kneeling on the ground in front of you, smiling softly as he takes his hand in yours.
“Do you remember my first words to you? I asked you to ‘stay by my side’... and the offer still stands. But I would like to add a single word to that. So won’t you forever be by my side?”
Your response is nothing more than a leap into his arms, whispering a quiet “yes!”
Mitsunari:
……
Can I tell you the truth? The thought of marriage has come across in his mind before, but it’s never had the chance to be in a conversation, so he’s left it alone, thinking that you’re fine the way the two of you were.
He’s also anxious, that poor boy, but he brushes it off when you once asked him what’s wrong after he had been staring at the same page in his book for a solid hour.
So……. I headcannon Mitsunari’s the type where you need to propose to him first… Not that I don’t think he can’t, but it’s more so the fact that marriage doesn’t really matter to him.
The proposal’s nothing special-
It’s a simple morning when you go to wake him up, slipping a small note into that unfinished book he’s reading, several pages ahead of where he’s up to.
It’s something you’ve consulted the other warlords with, each giving their own wild idea for proposals.
You’re not gonna lie though- When you had initially proposed the idea to them, they were shocked until you had told them that it wasn’t unusual for a woman to propose in your time.
Ideas you dismissed immediately were from Masamune and Nobunaga, and Mitsuhide too, when he suggested something completely within his boundary of actions.
Poor HIdeyoshi was so shocked he literally couldn’t say a word…. Any coherent word, anyway.
Only Ieyasu gave you something decent, scoffing down his tea in embarrassment when you smiled and thanked him.
The note slips from the book once he picks it up, and he freezes, dropping the book immediately to search for you.
You’re out in town, Hideyoshi mutters, he, too, faltering when he accidentally sees the note in his hand.
And you are- with some friends you’ve made in town who, admittedly, know exactly who you are. You’ve told them you’ve proposed to Mitsunari, who they also know to be your lover, so they’re not surprised when they spot the silver-haired warlord seeking you, clothing and hair disheveled from his search.
But when he falters at the sight of you smiling brightly with your friends, they grin at you, playfully shoving you in his direction and making a handful of rather… unnecessary excuses.
“Do you really mean it?” It’s something he asks when you finally reach a quieter location. And you just smile at him, nodding your head.
His only response is to draw you to him, pressing his lips firmly against your own.
Yes.
Mitsuhide:
…. Okay.
So the thing is, even if you tried to propose to him, he’d out-propose you with something even more amazing… Perfectly incorporating his own ideas with the plans you’ve made.
But the thing is, you don’t mind: You know he’s wanted this since forever. In fact, you’re almost certain all his dreams will come true by simply marrying you.
So instead, you don’t say a word. Instead, you begin your plans with requesting for silky, white fabric, several rolls of blue thread and ribbons of a maya blue and white.
Yes, you’re making your own wedding kimono and for some unfathomable reason, he knows you’re making his too.
(maybe it’s because you’ve stolen clothes from him for size measurements… But who honestly knows… Maybe Kojuro told him? xD)
Either way, it’s a rather simple occasion. Neither you, nor Mitsuhide, had ever fancied anything extravagant anyway…. Nor do you do it in public either.
But he knows anyway: It happens one random day in his private quarters, as opposed to a celebration in the Azuchi halls.
Really, it’s nothing special, yet Mitsuhide has somehow snagged the artificial fabric bellflower from his wedding hakama, strutting into his bedroom with it pinned to his usual clothing. A wooden box of a bellflower branch in his hands, this time made of blown European glass.
You’re just there in his room, reading through a scroll you had created specifically for the occasion. You don’t even realise he’s entered and he creeps behind you, wrapping his arms around you.
You’ve predicted it instead- Turning your head to face him in response, you kiss him against the cheek and hold the scroll out to him.
“You received a letter while you were away…”
He smirks, replying with a “So you took the liberty of opening it?”
A glance at his face and the flower pinned to his clothes, you know he knows your question. And he’s given you your answer already.
Yes.
Nevertheless, he gently takes the scroll from your hands and places the wooden box gently into your own.
Inside, the blue-white-purple glass flowers sits amongst the soft, fluff-filled silk. Written gently on each flower are the words “Will” “you” “marry” “me?”.
You both share a grin, pressing a kiss to his lips in mutual agreement.

Year of the Rabbit
ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/17836331#main
Summary: Izuku gets hit with a species changing quirk when pursuing a purse snatcher and he has to go the next several days figuring out how to deal with the outcome.
AKA Izuku Midoriya is part bunny and everyone wants to pet his adorable ears while he has to go through class like nothing happened.
I've been putting off writing this for ages. It was supposed to be written in December for a secret santa. Then again in January when I had nothing else to do. Now here I am, finally writing it because one of my server friends asked for some cute and fluffy tododeku.
Oh! And a special thanks to @mythical-song-wolf for letting me use their prompt here!!!
Izuku darted across campus, furred feet scampering behind him because their position made it difficult for him to not use all four limbs when running but that wasn’t really all that important, even if it did make his hands dirty as he buried his fingers in the dirt to get a good purchase.
Reaching the dorms unseen had been easy, it was late and everyone was supposed to be inside getting ready for bed or doing homework or preparing for the school day tomorrow. Izuku had been on patrol on his internship, which was why he was only just now returning.
An ear flopped into his face as he skidded to an abrupt halt in front of the building, looking up at the lack of window ledges for him to grab onto in irritation. Because there was no way he was just casually walking into the lobby of the dorms like this.
So he scurried to the back of the dorm building, and was immediately relieved to find the balconies lining the building. Not that he expected them to disappear, considering he had his own balcony on the second floor.
Except, his own balcony wasn’t his goal, because Mineta and Aoyama were on his floor and they loved to burst into his room in a panic to get help with last minute homework and Izuku really didn’t wanna be seen like this.
So his eyes darted from balcony to balcony on the fifth floor, lining up the position of the dorm map in his mind (that he had naturally memorized when Aizawa-sensei had shown the room assignments) with the specific room he wanted. The dorm of the only person he knew who would hide him without question and wouldn’t make fun of him for his current appearance.
Finding the room he was looking for, Izuku shifted until he was lined up with the balcony and prepared to jump. He was about to activate Full Cowl, but then curiosity got the better of him-how far could he jump with his new legs?
As it turns out, he could jump very very high, because one second he was flexing his calves and the next he was clinging to the metal rail that guarded Shouto’s balcony. Holy shit, he just jumped five floors. Without One for All. Okay, that was honestly a rush, why couldn’t he have a mutation quirk like this one? Though he would’ve preferred not to look so… cutesy, considering his baby face already gave him enough issues with being taken seriously in class.
Not the point, Izuku. Come on, you’re literally hanging on Todoroki’s balcony, get up there. Not wasting anymore time, Izuku hauled himself up, swinging his legs over the rail and landing softly on the other side. Before knocking on the transparent doors though, Izuku’s gaze scanned over the area to make sure he wasn’t seen. No one, he was in the clear.
He turned on his pawed foot and lifted a hand to knock on the glass of Todoroki’s double glass doors, a solid thunk ringing in his ears three times before he dropped his hand and waited. Izuku watched as blue and grey eyes peered through the curtain only for it to be pushed to the side and the sliding doors opened to let Izuku in.
Finally, he relaxed, walking into his best friend’s dorm and collapsing on the floor, his new rabbit legs spreading out before him. He didn’t say anything as Shouto moved to his bed and sat down heavily, the other not saying a word as he took in Izuku’s new appearance.
Starting with Izuku’s face, he now sported the two obvious flopped ears hanging on either side of his head. Moving down, Izuku’s nose was now more bunny like, twitching and pink with the different smells of the room (was that lavender? Was Todoroki burning lavender incense right now?). Izuku’s torso hadn’t really changed, aside from the All Might t-shirt he now sported instead of his hero costume, but from the waist down was a pair of rabbit legs, covered in green fur and paw pads that Mirio had squished earlier when Izuku had been brought to the medical staff of the Nighteye agency and hadn’t that felt weird.
The room was silent as Todoroki observed him, and Izuku began to tense again under his friend’s stare, flushing brightly as he squirmed in his seat. He’d put on shorts, earlier, the shortest pair he could find because anything longer would feel weird against his fur and the sensory stimulation was honestly too much for his sensitive skin.
“Please say something,” he begged, wrapping his arms around himself and looking everywhere in the room but at Todoroki who exhaled slowly and ran his fingers through his hair.
“What exactly do you want me to say? Hey Midoriya, is there a reason you’re half rabbit now? Or maybe you want me to ask about the weather and not comment at all on the fact that hey, you’re half rabbit now.”
Izuku flinched, looking at Shouto with a hurt expression.
“I uh… got hit by a species changing quirk on patrol?” the way he said it sounded like a question, as if he wasn’t totally sure that’s what happened himself but had said it anyway because that was the only explanation he had.
Shouto’s shoulders slumped forward as he watched Izuku, and the green-haired boy grinned sheepishly.
“Alright, so you’re half rabbit now. How long will this last?” Todoroki asked, scooting backwards on his futon until his back hit a wall.
Izuku’s nose crinkled as he thought back. “Dunno. We couldn’t find the person who hit me with their quirk when I was chasing a criminal who’d stolen some woman’s bag. We’d assumed they were a partner of some sort and they were trying to slow me down. Sir Nighteye said it should only last a few days at most, but that was about it.”
“So you want to hide in my room until the quirk wears off?” Shouto asked, and Izuku’s face heated up at the thought.
“No! I just… want to hide in here until morning when I can use class as an excuse to get everyone off my back.”
Shouto nodded, not once taking his eyes off of Izuku, though the shorter boy felt like he was just taking in the new changes of his appearance. Izuku shifted in his seat again, leaning back on his hands in an attempt to get comfortable despite the formality of the room and the usual stiffness Todoroki gave off.
“Do you have any other rabbit like traits or is it purely physical?” Shouto asked, both boys starting to relax as they got used to each other being there.
Izuku hummed in thought for a second. “Well, before the sun went down I could see pretty well in the dusk. And my sense of hearing and smell are both heightened, as well as my sense for danger. I was also able to jump up to your balcony from the ground without the use of Full Cowl, that was a rush.”
Shouto’s eyebrows shot up at that, the fact that he was on the fifth floor not at all lost on him. Okay, so his best friend now had powerful back legs that could crush him (not that he didn’t have that before, but now it was just ridiculous). Good to know.
“...Do you want to go to bed? I’m sure I can pull out some extra blankets.”
Izuku sagged at the suggestion, his exhaustion suddenly hitting him like a freight train at high speeds. Fuck, going to bed sounded like heaven right now.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Shouto said, amusement lilting his voice, though his expression didn’t change as he stood to go to his closet and pull out some extra blankets and a pillow.
“Thank you, Todoroki. You’re a blessing.”
Shouto grunted in response, gently setting the pile of blankets on the floor. Though, before he could even begin setting up a proper bed set up, Izuku scrambled into the pile, kicking the blankets around until they formed a nest around him and wow, seeing the shorter boy curled up and relaxed in his new nest was honestly adorable. Noted.
After that, Shouto himself laid down on his futon, not really ready to go to bed, but doing so anyway because it felt weird to be awake when Izuku was, as far as he could tell from the even breathing and slight snores across the room, asleep.
The next morning, Izuku woke up with a start. He hadn't had a bad dream or anything, but he could feel hands on his ears and the second the touch registered, he'd yelped and jerked away from it because his ears were sensitive what was this person thinking, touching them?
And then he realized it was just Todoroki and he relaxed.
"Sorry, they looked soft."
Izuku shrugged, yawning and sitting up to look around his nest. It felt cozy, it was a shame he wasn't going to get to sleep in it again after this. And it was that thought that brought his mind to the day ahead, making Izuku let out a groan. How was he supposed to get down to his dorm and then to his class without being seen?
Todoroki watched as his friends face fell, turning away to get dressed as he groaned and flopped back into his nest.
"I can get you a set of clothes, and if we hurry, we can leave before everyone else starts getting up, though you won't be able to avoid Iida, he's probably already in the classroom."
Izuku sighed in relief, his chest getting lighter at his friend's suggestion.
"Thank you, Todoroki. You're actually the best."
Shouto couldn't resist the small smile he got at the praise, glad he was turned away from his friend so it would be hidden.
Honestly, it was amazing the other boy hadn't picked up on his crush on him, considering it was obvious by Shouto's standards. He would do just about anything the other boy asked of him, including, apparently, hide him from his classmates because he'd halfway transformed into a rabbit.
Then there was also how flustered he got when the other was around, leading to ridiculous situations like his mouth hanging open when he walked into the room shirtless, or tripping over air when walking by the boy while he was lifting weights and the sight of flexing muscles distracted him.
Honestly, Shouto was incredibly obvious, why hadn't Midoriya noticed yet?
He sighed to himself, leaving the room to go down three floors and get into his friend's room to grab a uniform, stopping when he left because there was Aoyama, in all his "beauty rest" glory, wearing a face mask and curlers in his hair. Is that really what the French did every morning? How cumbersome.
"Morning mon ami!" Aoyama called, walking passed without even a second glance despite Todoroki having a tight grip on some of Midoriya's clothes. Well, at least he didn't have to answer any awkward questions. No, that was going to be Izuku's job when the class started filling out and everyone noticed that the floppy rabbit ears on Izuku's head did not in fact belong there.
Making the trek back up to his own dorm, Shouto thought some more about the predicament that was Izuku's transformation. Honestly, he'd been so shocked when he fully registered what he was seeing last night that he'd unintentionally snapped at his friend. If he, someone who was incredibly good at hiding what he was feeling and not making any of his thoughts known, couldn't control his reaction, what did that say about how the rest of the class was going to react?
Reaching his room, Shouto noticed that the nest of blankets was no longer a nest, but a neatly stacked pile and Izuku was now laying spread eagle in the center of the floor, his furred feet occasionally kicking with restless energy.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, raising a white brow at his friend in mild amusement.
"I can't do my usual stretches with my legs like this, they don't bend right."
"Have you tried working around that?"
"Can't figure out how without it hurting like a bitch."
Shouto was pretty sure he was the only one who ever actually heard Izuku swear without a care in the world and he always felt privileged by this. He didn't really understand why, but when Uraraka had made a squeak of surprise when Izuku swore loudly after stubbing his toe, Shouto felt a swell of pride because he was so used to hearing his friend curse he hadn't even reacted outside of concern for his friends aching toe.
“I got your clothes.”
Izuku sat up then, green eyes lighting up with a grin as he looked at Shouto. He really did appreciate his friend and everything he was willing to do for him, and sometimes he tried to give him gifts to show his gratitude but Shouto had a hard time accepting them, so he settled for physical contact because the touch starved teen would never turn away a hug or a few minutes of hand holding.
He stood, albeit amateurishly since he wasn’t exactly used to his legs just yet, and grabbed his clothes out of Shouto’s arms before walking into the cramped closet to get changed. It was a bit of an awkward endeavor, but he managed to come out of the situation not looking too entirely rumpled.
“Seriously, thank you Shouto. You really are the best.”
Shouto nodded, trying not to let himself blush at the use of his first name because Izuku only used it when he really really meant or wanted something from him and it was… always thrilling to hear it.
Having gotten ready while Izuku was in his closet, Shouto stood.
“Come on, let’s get to class before someone rambunctious sees you and makes you late,” Shouto said, stepping outside of his room, Izuku close behind as he slowly ran his fingers over one of the rabbit ears hanging loosely at his side to feel the soft curly fur covering the sensitive skin underneath.
The two walked in silence, Izuku occasionally ducking behind Shouto when they passed a student, no one paying the two of them any mind beyond a couple of second glances. They actually managed to reach the classroom completely intact, no one once stopping them to question Izuku’s change in appearance.
Iida looked up from his studying at his desk, nodding tersely his good morning before returning to his book. Then his head snapped back in their direction and Shouto almost winced when he heard the taller boys neck crack from the speed in which he gaped at Izuku’s new ears.
Izuku gave a sheepish grin, face already growing red from the attention and oh, he was going to absolutely die when the rest of the class got here.
“Morning, Iida. Studying going okay?”
Iida stood abruptly, already raising his arms to start gesturing wildly.
“Don’t question my studying when you so obviously have a change in appearance! What happened, Midoriya? Where’d those ears come from?”
He looked down and noticed Izuku’s furred feet peeking out from beneath his pants and the black haired boy grew even more indignant.
“And where are your shoes!”
“Ah, well, you see, my shoes wouldn’t… fit,” Todoroki also hadn’t grabbed them, but that didn’t really matter anyway because his shoes were not made for rabbit feet.
“And the ears and feet? Midoriya please! Where on Earth did you get this new appearance when it is quite impossible to change so drastically overnight!”
Izuku glanced at Shouto for help, but the icy flame simply sat in his seat and watched the whole scene unfold with an air of amusement. Traitor.
“I uh, got hit by a species changing quirk when pursuing a purse snatcher last night. I’ve been like this ever since.”
Iida pursed his lips, but seemed to accept the explanation because he sat down and glanced over his notes before speaking up again.
“I hope you know that every single girl in class is going to be all over you,” he warned, looking at Izuku over his glasses and wow, did Tenya know he could be really intimidating when he did that?
Izuku groaned, nodding at the statement. “Yeah, I know I kind of figured. It’s why I snuck into the dorms last night through Todoroki’s room instead of going to my own.”
Tenya tensed at that, ready to scold Izuku for going that far when a bright, cheery squeal permeated the air and suddenly Izuku’s ears were being stroked by hands he couldn’t see and a shiver traveled low on Izuku’s spine.
He yelped, yanking away to ‘look’ at Tooru as the air she gave off permeated a pout.
“You’re so cute Midoriya! When did you get those ears? They’re absolutely adorable!”
Oh God, he was going to have to explain his appearance a lot today, wasn’t he?
“U-Um, well--”
“He’ll explain when everyone gets in class,” Shouto interrupted, making Izuku sigh in relief because his friend had effectively helped him avoid having to repeat how his appearance happened a thousand times in the span of the next hour.
“Oh. Well, can I touch your ears some more? They’re really cute and soft!” Hagakure asked and Izuku couldn’t resist pressing his low hanging ears close to his cheeks in an attempt to hide them from the invisible girl.
“I’d uh… rather not. They’re super sensitive.”
And things continued like that as more people came in, Izuku saying he’d explain once everyone was here and everyone asking to pet his ears with exclamations about how cute they were. Though, no one just reached out and touched like Tooru had when she first entered the class.
As soon as Sero walked in, Izuku moved to the front of the classroom (which was odd because the last time he stood up there he’d been in the running for class president) and explained his appearance.
“I got hit by a species changing quirk while on patrol. No, I don’t know how long it’s going to last, just that it’s going to be a few days, and no please don’t pet my ears they’re sensitive. Yes, I have a heightened sense of smell and hearing, no, I don’t think I can suddenly understand rabbits, though I haven’t tested that last one out, hey Kouda-” he was about to ask when Aizawa-sensei stepped into the room.
The teacher stopped, seeing Izuku standing at the front of the class, frozen and wide-eyed staring at him with… floppy rabbit ears hanging on either side of his face and a twitchy pink nose that seemed to crinkle with his student’s surprise.
“...Get to your seat, Midoriya.”
“Y-Yes, sir!” And with that the green-haired boy scrambled to his seat behind Bakugou and Aizawa sighed because of course this was going to be interesting seeing how Midoriya was going to work around todays training with his new appearance.
Soon they were on a search and rescue training ground, making the exercise for the day pretty obvious, in Aizawa’s opinion. He turned to look at his suited up student’s, eyes lingering on Izuku and his floppy ears and obviously altered lower half, before glancing over everyone else.
“Today is a standard search and rescue. Each one of you will get a partner and will have to save a minimum of five people, represented by bots, in order to pass for the day,” Aizawa explained in his usual exhausted monotone. He gestured to a large screen hovering above him with everyone’s stats.
“I will be staying here and observing everyone as they go through the exercise. Only two teams will be on the field at a time, though this will not be a competition to see who saves more people. The goal is to efficiently save all the bots on the field without risking further injury. Should your actions result in the death of a bot you will immediately fail the exercise and be brought back here to go over your mistakes.”
The class started to murmur amongst themselves, several glances being thrown towards Bakugou, who ignored them with an irritated scowl.
Aizawa sighed, admitting quietly that with Bakugou’s performance during the Provisional License exam he needed this exercise more than anyone else. Still, with everyone’s improvement, Aizawa was actually looking forward to seeing how this exercise turned out, even with Izuku’s new look.
“Your teams have not yet been decided, you guys are free to pick who you work with for this, play to your strengths and weaknesses, no one can switch teams once they’ve been decided.”
Izuku was vibrating in excitement, Ochako already at his side with a determined grin. He was so ready to pull out what he’d been learning during his internship with Sir Nighteye and Ochako seemed just as ready to put her skills to good use.
As soon as everyone had picked a partner, Aizawa pressed a button and the screen randomly selected two teams to go out on the field together.
Izuku’s and Ochako’s faces showed up next to Shouto’s and Mina’s.
Huh, Izuku would’ve thought his friend would’ve picked Momo. Shrugging, he stepped up to the gate of the training ground with the other three he’d be working with, bouncing on his feet in excitement. Which was… weird because he wasn’t usually this excited to do a training exercise in Aizawa’s class. Did being part rabbit heighten his emotions somehow?
Izuku didn’t get time to dwell on it, because soon the door was open and he was off with Ochako, Mina, and Shouto close behind him.
God, he didn’t even need to activate Full Cowl to bounce against the walls of the destroyed fake city, trying to get higher to get a better vantage point to see where the damage was at its worst. It didn’t take him long, seeing the smoke and dust gather near the center of the city, rubble and half a skyscraper standing just barely tall enough to see over the rest of the buildings.
Izuku reached up to press against his comm link.
“Head east, Uravity, there’s a lot of rubble. We’re going to need you for sure to get through it to the civilians.”
“On it!”
Shouto came through a second later.
“Alien Queen and I are going to loop around and look for any further damage and civilians in need of rescuing. You two go ahead to the center of the wreckage and we’ll meet up with you to stabilize anything.”
Izuku nodded despite the fact that Shouto couldn’t see him and continued towards the damaged building before remembering to verbally confirm that he’d heard Shouto.
“Got it, you guys be careful.”
And then he was in the middle of the wreckage, Ochako not far behind. They glanced at each other, Ochako nodding firmly at Izuku’s determined expression. He gestured to the right and up, asking her to float herself up the building to see what she could find. Nodding again, the brunette took off.
With her gone, Izuku tilted his head in the opposite direction where he heard strained metal beginning to snap under pressure of the fire. He darted in that direction, flinching slightly as his comm link shifted uncomfortably in his ear. They definitely weren’t made for rabbit ears, he thought, reaching up to readjust the important piece as he a turned a corner.
Izuku skidded to a halt, seeing an apartment building on fire and ready to collapse. Swearing loudly, the up and coming hero bounded forward.
“Todoroki I may need you sooner than I thought, I found a building covered in fire and I don’t know if there’s any survivors inside.”
“Location?”
Izuku rattled off coordinates, looking around his area as he slowly approached the burning building. The crackling fire was hell on his senses, but he could hear what sounded like screaming inside and made his anxiety skyrocket. Someone was inside.
“Deku, I finished checking the collapsed skyscraper. I have three confirmed civilians injured and crying for help inside with two suspected dead.”
Izuku swore just as Todoroki slid in on some ice, immediately setting to dousing the fire while Izuku struggled to come up with what to do.
“Someone’s in there, I can hear screaming over the fire. Do you need me?” Izuku asked, eyeing Shouto while he waited for an answer.
Shouto shook his head. “Go help your teammate. Alien Queen will be with you once she’s done checking the rest of the city.”
Izuku nodded, darting back the way he’d come to help Ochako with the rescue of those she’d seen and hopefully the two suspected dead weren’t actually dead.
He came back to the clearing just in time to see Ochako crawl through a shattered window, broken glass catching her bodysuit and ripping through it, but she paid it no mind.
“Uravity what are you doing?” he asked, walking up to the collapsed building to watch as his partner disappeared into the fray.
“There’s someone in here, I’m trying to see if the rubble around them is structurally sound enough for me to use my quirk and help them,” she answered, coughing through the dust.
Izuku hummed, noting she was on the highest non wrecked floor of the building about ten stories up.
“What’s the position of the other two survivors?”
“One on the third floor underneath collapsed cubicles. Injuries are light but the massive amount of cubicles makes it difficult for them to move. The second is on the fifth floor, there’s blood on their head they were knocked out from the looks of it.”
Izuku muttered quietly under his breath, listening closely to hear the crying of the person on the third floor. He’d go after the unconscious one first, since they were in more immediate danger of dying. He crouched low, muscles tensing in his new, much more powerful legs, and then leaped to the fifth floor window, grabbing onto the ledge roughly.
Thankfully the windowsill was thick enough for Izuku to swing himself up and land on with the glass remaining intact, not that it mattered since Izuku punched it out not even a second later anyway to get inside.
Glancing around, Izuku took in the scene. There was rubble everywhere, walls half caved in and near a door he could make out one of the bots they were supposed to rescue bleeding and unconscious just as Ochako had said.
Okay, time to set to work. Izuku darted over, reaching the victim much sooner than he normally would’ve with the powerful kick of his legs and gingerly picked them up. Looking back at the window, Izuku briefly wondered if he could get away with leaving the way he came in before quickly deciding against it. He didn’t want to jostle his cargo any more than he had to.
Taking a deep breath, Izuku started making his way down the building using the stairwell. He was careful to miss the caved in parts, leaping over any missing steps with ease as he made his way to the third floor.
It didn’t take long, now he just needed to find the third person in the building and then he could figure out a fast and safe way down while he was carrying two people. Quickly finding the cubicles, Izuku lifted as many as he could, watching as the bot squirmed out from underneath them before he dropped them and picked the civilian up by the waist.
“Hey, shh, it’s okay, I got ya now,” Izuku murmured, quieting the crying of the awake bot as he quickly made an assessment of the floor.
This one, much like the others, was crumbling and honestly it was a miracle this much of the building was still standing with how much of its foundation was wrecked. Izuku kept muttering reassurances to the bot while he looked around. He had no issues carrying the weight of the two bots, so he didn’t even think about adding a third unconscious bot when he spotted one by a window, having been presumably trying to get out before the building crumbled.
“Deku? We’ve got a problem on the tenth floor, one of the injured I found has a meter and it’s draining and I haven’t taken any first aid classes yet,” Ochako called over the comm link, making Izuku bite back a swear. He’d have to talk to Ochako about the merit of first aid because damn it, she should’ve known that already, it was basic training!
And now he had the dilemma of not being able to answer her because his hands were full and he couldn’t just set someone down fuck. Sighing, Izuku started to make his way to the lower building where he found Mina setting up a first aid camp where they could put the injured as they rescued them. Good, someone remembered the License exam.
Quickly and gently putting down the injured, Izuku finally lifted his hand to the comm link in his ear.
“Sorry Uravity, had my hands full. I’ll be up there soon just hang tight and apply what you do know to keep them alive.”
After getting the affirmative, Izuku darted back into the building and activated Full Cowl without thinking before jumping against the walls to spiral up the building… only to launch himself straight into a wall when he’d underestimated the strength in his legs and fuck that hurt. Okay, didn’t need Full Cowl to jump along the walls, duly and sorely noted.
After recovering from that fuck up, Izuku started making his way up the building to help Ochako with her predicament.
Aizawa watched the screens with mild interest, once having to hold back a chuckle when Izuku launched himself into a wall after underestimating the power of his rabbit legs. Honestly, these four were doing much better than he anticipated, though they all automatically looked to Izuku as the leader in this situation. Which didn’t hurt, since Izuku seemed to have a knack for search and rescue operations if what he was seeing was any indication.
He watched as his student reached the uppermost undamaged floor, though he used the term loosely when he said undamaged. He quickly started walking Uraraka through the steps of stabilizing the bot, and Aizawa could see the struggle in her expression. He’d have to ask Recovery Girl to help her with extra first aid lessons.
Switching screens, Aizawa watched Todoroki leave the now iced over building with two people, one in his arms and the other clinging to his shoulders. At this rate these two teams were going to reach all of the bots on the field and the exercise would be over in no time. Good, he wouldn’t have to dwell on search and rescue for long if the rest of the class was this efficient.
An hour into the exercise, Aizawa noticed that Izuku had stopped responding to his teammates, which wasn’t like him. Upon rewinding some footage, Aizawa noticed his comm link fall out of his ear and ah, that would be a problem now wouldn’t it?
Things were quiet, and it took Izuku a moment to notice the lack of a headache from uncomfortable plastic pressing into his rabbit ear and well fuck, wouldn’t that be an issue?
Izuku frantically looked around for the comm link, not finding it anywhere, even after he started lifting rubble to see if it slipped somewhere unseen. He was so busy searching for his comm link he didn’t realize he’d shifted a vital piece of rubble needed for structural stability so when he heard a long groan of concrete shifting forward behind him he was taken totally off guard.
Whipping around, Izuku gaped as the biggest piece of concrete slowly caved towards him and when it started gaining speed he tensed, activating Full Cowl on instinct and leaped forward, bringing one of his legs forward to shatter the concrete before it could do any damage.
Well that was a rush, but now he really needed to find his comm link--
A loud buzzer rang out over the training grounds, making Izuku jump. Well shit, guess he was out of time.
Izuku groaned loudly, collapsing on a couch now that he’d changed out of his school uniform and back into his favorite All Might t-shirt and the booty shorts he’d been wearing yesterday. Nobody was in the lobby yet, except Shouto, and he was thankful he’d been so quick with his shower.
“Shouto you did awesome during the training exercise today,” Izuku commented, throwing his arm over his eyes as his legs twitched with the soreness aching in them.
“Thanks. I like you.”
For a moment, Izuku didn’t even register what Shouto had said.
“I like you too?”
“Izuku, look at me.”
And oh… he better listen, Shouto hardly ever used his first name for any reason. Lifting his arm, to look at Shouto and see the blush dusting his cheeks as he stared at Izuku very intently.
“I. Like. You.”
Oh. Oh. Okay, that’s…
“I… where did this… come from?” Izuku asked, cheeks burning bright under Shouto’s gaze and he really couldn’t help looking away.
Shouto watched Izuku for a moment before leaning back in his seat again. He wasn’t going to say he saw Izuku’s kick earlier, or that the concrete shattering had absolutely filled him with excitement or that Ochako had noticed him staring at Izuku and had basically ordered him to tell the shorter boy his feelings or she’d do it for him.
No, he wasn’t going to say any of that.
“Just thought you should know.”
And with that he picked up the fantasy novel he’d been reading and acted as if he hadn’t said anything, leaving a bewildered Izuku staring at him from the couch.
Before Izuku could say hey wait a minute you can’t just tell me you have a crush on me and then pretend it never happened, the class piled into the room and suddenly he was being bombarded by his classmates.
“Midoriya, my man! Or, my rabbit?” Kirishima shouted, arms suddenly hanging over Izuku’s shoulders and Izuku flushed a bright red at that last comment.
“I’m still human!” he squeaked indignantly, making Bakugou snort.
“Obviously not, nerd. Or did you actually fucking forget you have rabbit ears and legs?”
“Don’t forget the nose! God, the nose is so cute!” Tooru exclaimed, booping Izuku on his nose as she said that.
Izuku made a noise, overwhelmed by all the attention. Of course that only resulted in Mina and Tooru squealing in delight because apparently everything Izuku did was absolutely adorable in this state. He flinched away from them, grabbing the ends of his ears and tugging down until everything was muffled as he looked at everyone in disdain.
He just really wanted to talk to Shouto after that bomb he dropped, was that really too much to ask?
It was Momo who came to his rescue.
“Guys, you’re very clearly overwhelming him, maybe back up a little?” she asked, getting in front of Izuku to push everyone back a little.
“Oh shit, man. Sorry! You’re just too cute like this? Totally irresistible,” Eijirou said, patting Izuku on the head while Kacchan glared at the red head.
“You have a boyfriend, idiot. Or did you forget that?”
“I have two boyfriends, Katsuki, what’s your point?”
Kacchan growled, stomping behind the couch after grabbing Denki’s collar to just do the same with Eijirou’s so he could drag them up the stairs.
“We have homework fuckers, let’s go.”
“Wait what? But you said I could relax today!” Denki protested, trying to twist out of Kacchan’s grip.
“I changed my fucking mind let’s go!”
And with that they were gone, up the stairs and out of sight. Honestly, Izuku was grateful he didn’t have to deal with Eijirou or Denki anymore but that still left the issue of the girls trying to pet his ears.
Speaking of, Izuku felt a brush against his shoulder and he jolted away from it, staring wide-eyed at Kyoka who shrugged.
“Sorry, Tooru said they were super soft and I wanted to see for myself.”
“That really doesn’t mean you should touch without permission,” Shouto spoke up, though Izuku could see he hadn’t looked away from his book when he glanced over at him.
Kyoka shrugged again, patting Izuku’s head before walking away and would people please stop patting his head? It made Izuku feel demeaned and fuck he just knew this was going to happen. Nobody was taking him seriously at all, only backing up when other people came to his defense instead of when he protested himself.
He didn’t realize he was sprouting angry tears until Shouto was in front of him, gently tugging on his arms so he’d stand.
“Wha-?” Izuku started to ask, only to clamp his mouth shut when Shouto only shook his head.
They walked up the stairs in silence, Izuku wiping at his eyes in frustration because the tears wouldn’t stop even when he tried to force his anger at the entire situation to the back of his mind. Shouto opened his dorm door and stepped aside so Izuku could pad his way inside, sniffling angrily at himself.
When the door was closed behind them, Shouto opened his arms and Izuku really couldn’t deny an offer like that. He stepped into his best friend’s arms, burying his face in the others chest.
They stood like that in silence for a few minutes, Izuku crying into Shouto’s chest and Shouto just being there for his friend.
Once Izuku calmed down, he stepped back, wiping at his eyes and breathing slowly so he could gather himself. Once steeled, he put his hands on his hips, put all his weight on one leg and glared at Shouto with all his might.
Shouto flushed a bright red and looked away because wow that was precious and he really couldn’t handle looking at that much cute in one place.
“Shouto Todoroki, I can’t believe you just confessed to me out of the blue and then expected me to not say anything about it!”
Shouto briefly wondered if he could melt himself through the floor.
“How on Earth can you drop that bomb on me and not expect to say something? And not to mention how shitty it was to say it just before everyone showed up. I mean, I’m grateful you got me out of there, but why did you do that, Shouto? You don’t just tell someone you have a crush on them and then act like nothing happened!”
Shouto wilted, rubbing at his neck sheepishly.
“So you don’t return the feelings?” Which is honestly why he dropped the bomb when he did because he wasn’t ready to be rejected.
“I didn’t say that, don’t put words in my mouth, Shouto,” Izuku scolded, crossing his arms over his chest and twitching his head to get that one ear out of his face.
Hope swelled in Shouto’s heart, but he didn’t say anything. Izuku’s face softened and he smiled gently at the taller boy.
“Of course I feel the same way, you’re incredibly sweet, you’re there when I need you and yes, I have noticed you tripping over yourself when I work out I just didn’t think anything of it until now.”
He knew he was being obvious.
“Thank you, by the way for getting me out of there. I wasn’t exactly feeling respected in that situation.”
Shouto nodded, finally stepping further into the room so he could sit on his futon. Once he rearranged himself, he looked up at Izuku and opened his arms wide.
“Come cuddle with me. You’re soft.”
Izuku snorted, but complied anyway. May as well, since it was rare Shouto outright asked for affection.
“Fine, but I get to hide in your room until the quirk fades.”
“I thought you didn’t want to do that.”
“That was before you became my boyfriend.”
And, yeah. Shouto liked the sound of that a lot.

A Summer With You
Yoongi x Reader [Hybrid!AU]

The phone rang a few times. I chuckle at my friend; she never picks up. Finally, she answers and she breaths into the line.
"Did you run to the phone again?"
"Okay. Let me explain."
I laugh.
"So, I was jamming to my ringtone hella hard. Cause you know how Skyway is my favorite song."
"It is. Uh-huh."
"So then I realized, wait, that's my phone ringing! So I ran— but I picked up!"
"It's okay," I sigh into the phone. Typical of her. "I actually wanted to ask where you got Peanut from."
"My dog?"
"Yeah, your dog Peanut."
"It's on the Gangju and Huanghe intersection. It's a really nice pet store-"
And I wince.
"—Okay I know you hate pet stores, but I'm just saying that's where I got Peanut from. My dad came and bought him for me as a birthday gift."
"I wanted to go to a shelter to get a pet. Not a pet store."
"I totally understand that! But recently, with all the hybrids being thrown into shelters, full-blown animals are getting less frequent in shelters."
"That's horrible. Both the fact they're euthanizing innocent animals for space and the fact they have humanoids in animal shelters." I frown.
Ever since scientists discovered a way to cross humans and animals, hybrid pets have become the norm. And the problem with that is that although they don't have the intelligence of humans, they shouldn't be treated so horribly.
On top of that, over half of the hybrids are born with defects and live about as long as their animal counterparts. It's disgusting. I would go as far as to say that they shouldn't exist, for their own sake.
"I think you should get a pet. You've been stressed right?"
"Yeah. I'm close to graduating and I'm really panicking over my thesis."
"Maybe you should just get a boyfriend. Bet that would help."
I blush.
"Okayyyy. Bye." I hold the phone in front of my face.
"Bye~"
After hanging up, I look around my decorated and furnished apartment, but then realize despite its fullness, it feels empty. Maybe I should check out that pet store she talked about. With that in mind, I grab my keys, lock the door and go to my car.
As I drive to the store, I ponder. Who exactly gave scientists the bright idea to create hybrids? Humans and animals have evolved differently, so why combine them? The hybrids are entirely dependent on humans, like dogs or cats, but much more pricey and difficult to care for.
Not to mention how fetishized they are in the media or fiction. Why on Earth would someone want to have sex with a hybrid? It's just...unethical.
And that's not even the worst of it.
Before I know it, I've arrived at the store. The Flower Pot. A name much more fitting for a floral shop than a pet store.
I'm greeted at the entrance: "Welcome to the Flower Pot! Where friendship grows!" A boy with a boxy grin practically screams at me.
I suppose that's where they get the name. Not resisting my curiosity, I explore the well kept and cute store. The floors have a cute, sparkly confetti pattern and each section is labeled with a scripted, pink sign. It's cute. I find myself smiling at the fish tanks with soft pink sand beds.
I tap a glass with a bright yellow fish. It swims away, kicking up little bubbles. In another tank, there's a small, lime-green salamander.
"Need some help?" I jump at the voice. When I turn around, I'm greeted by a tall and kind looking boy. His name tag reads 'Jungkook'. He's smiling, looking like a bunny himself.
"Oh. I'm looking for a companion."
"Okay! Follow me then please!" He walks quickly and I'm almost left behind. I speed past a few cat cages until we reach the back of the store. There are at least ten glass containers lining the walls.
All of which holding hybrids. I nearly vomit. I feel sick just watching them. Jungkook motions me forward. One of the hybrids jumps forward, his cute, black kitty ears standing up.
"Hello! I'm Jimin!" Surprisingly, he talks! Why are such intelligent...creatures being held captive in enclosed spaces?!
"I'm sorry, Jungkook, but I'm not interested in a hybrid."
"What?" He asks, eyes wide. "Why not?"
"I don't think a hybrid should be enclosed in a space barely big enough to fit a dog. I also think it's wrong to have them as pets. It's inhumane." He smiles.
"I completely agree, but my friend told me something once. Uhhh," he pauses, trying to remember.
"Oh right! "If you take one and treat it how it should be, then that's one less hybrid being treated badly." Or something like that." He rubs his neck and chuckles.
That's an incredible point. If everyone were to take that initiative, maybe hybrids could begin to live well. Or at least better than they are currently.
"Jungkook!"
"Oh! Sorry. Taehyung is calling me. I'll be right back, okay, Miss?" He doesn't wait for me to respond as he runs to the front of the store.
As soon as I return my attention back to the wall, Jimin is smiling at me patiently.
"Your name is Jimin, right?"
"Yes. You're really pretty and smart. Can you please take me home?" His eyes are wide and sparkly. That's too cute. And really shocking. Something slams against the glass on the container to Jimin's left.
"No! Take me home! Please please please please please-" I walk in front of the container, and the dog hybrid's tail wags wildly. His face and smile instantly brighten.
"Hello. What's-"
"I'm Hoseok! It's so nice to meet you! You're so nice! And your hands look soft! Can I touch your hand please?!" His energy catches me by surprise, but I smile and reach a hand forward into one of the little holes in front of him.
The Golden Retriever hybrid eagerly shoves his head under my hand. I giggle at his reaction.
"Wow wow wow! I'm right! Please take me home! I hate being in this box! I wanna run around and lay down on your bed so you can pet me some more—PLEEEAASEEE?!"
The reality hits me once again. These hybrids are captive. They want to leave so badly. I step back and remove my hand. Hoseok whines, but eventually just sits down. They're probably used to being rejected.
On Hoseok's left is an empty box. Beside Jimin there is a sleeping dog hybrid of a larger breed. German Shepard by the looks of it. For the most part, the containers are empty. I assume it's because people have already adopted them. To a good home, I hope.
A furry tail at the very end catches my attention. I walk to it and notice this container is far away from the others. Inside, the hybrid flinches upon seeing me and backs deeper into the corner.
His build is significantly smaller than the others. He's as skinny as a stick. Now I see his tail is patchy and missing fur in some areas, where the skin looks more like a human's skin than an animal's skin. The ears are huge— almost as big as his head — and split at the tip. While the inside of the ears is furless and an angry red color. And his eyes are black and beady, to the point I can't see the pupil.
A mutated hybrid, no doubt. He looks frail and he knows it. I hold back my angry tears and kneel down, to appear less scary.
"Hi," I tell him my name and make my voice as small as possible. He watches me, silent and cautious.
"Hi," he responds. The smile on my face is warm and I'm sure he can feel it.
"What's your name?"
"...Yoongi."
"It's nice to meet you, Yoongi." His body relaxes and he uncurls his legs. The clothing on his body are clean, but they look old. And he doesn't have shoes on.
I scoot closer to him and reach my hand out. He quickly gets defensive, eyes wide, as his back tries to swallow the wall.
"I promise I won't hurt you, Yoongi." He blinks multiple times and furrows his brows.
Finally, he creeps forward, just enough for me to brush the tip of my fingers against his ears. They're the softest thing I've ever touched. He shivers and his eyes are wide in wonder. Despite his weird appearance and mutated genes, he's cute. Someone like Yoongi doesn't belong here. None of these hybrids do.
"Can I ask what you are?"
"...Chinchilla." My mouth gapes in shock. I've never heard of a Chinchilla hybrid. He notices my expression. "Is that...bad?"
"No!" He flinches at my pitch and I quickly apologize. "It's not bad at all. You're really special." His eyes take me in as if I'm the greatest thing to exist. I blush. He raises his hand toward the glass, but before he does—
—Yoongi backs away from my hand.
"Find any you want to adopt?" Jungkook comes running back, his Timberland's stomping with each step. Once I look back to Yoongi, he's back to his corner, as if nothing happened.
"I-"
"Yoongi? Did you like Yoongi?" The employee sounds like he's going to burst. I look back to Yoongi. His eyes have changed as we share eye contact.
"Yes."
"W-wow! That's great! Did you hear that Yoongi?! Someone's taking you home!"
"Why do you sound so excited?" His expression changes as he motions me away from Yoongi's cage.
He whispers, "Yoongi has been here for a very long time."
"How long?" Jungkook's sad smile tells me everything.
"Since he's a mutated and frail hybrid, no one has wanted to adopt him. He's very quiet, too."
It makes tears gather in my eyes. People are so cruel. Yoongi may have some defects, but he's never had contact with anyone outside of that cage. His shyness is a result of his lack of interaction. How could he possibly be at fault?!
"What about the other hybrids?"
"NamJoon is that sleeping hybrid-" he points to the dark-haired dog hybrid "-Is scheduled for an adoption tomorrow."
"How long has he been here?"
"About a month. It takes longer for hybrids to get adopted. As for Hobi and Jimin, they've been here for two weeks. But they're so friendly, they could be adopted any time soon."
Frowning, I look back to Yoongi, whose eyes haven't left mine. I don't understand animals— or even humans —much, but I can tell Yoongi doesn't want to be here anymore.
"Can I adopt him?"
"Yoongi? Of course! He's $1,000." My jaw drops at the price.
"What?"
"That's extremely cheap for a hybrid. Most average hybrids go for around $5,000. The rare ones anywhere from $10,000 and up."
"Is it because he's mutated?" Jungkook looks melancholic when he nods.
"He's also very old for a Chinchilla. After all, hybrids take the lifespans of the animal." Clenching my teeth, I grip my shirt angrily.
"I'm a college student. I can't afford that..."
"...It's okay. Don't feel bad. You can come to visit him anytime. Just... don't tell my boss I let you, okay? She would have my ass." After he finishes whispering, he goes over to Jimin's cage and pets the cat hybrid.
I sigh and stuff my hands in my pockets. I'm so sorry Yoongi. Checking the time, I realize it's time for me to go study. Giving Yoongi one last look, I wave.
He jumps— cute —and waves back.
"I'll be back, Yoongi. I promise."
My day consisted of boring lectures and an empty evening shift. Time seemed to have passed at a snail's pace. I— for some reason beyond my own consciousness —was anxious to see Yoongi again. Maybe I pitied him, for having lived so long in those glass containers. Alone. Never played with. And in his final years of life. I can't be certain the other hybrids were adopted into good families.
But something is better than nothing.
I grip the steering wheel tightly and sigh. Yoongi was not ugly. He was cheap. Maybe soft-spoken, but he is bound to make someone happy.
My feet tap on the wet concrete. The door jingles from the rusted bells above. The Flower Pot. Sad in its name, as if hiding the fact it kept hybrids. At the counter was Taehyung again.
"Oh! Welcome back! Are you here to see Yoongi?"
"Yes." His face softens.
"That's so nice of you. What's your name?" I tell him my name and smile.
"I'm Taehyung, but you could just read my name tag to find that out. Thanks for coming back. You're welcome here any time." Nodding, I stuff my keys into my pocket and walk to the back where the hybrids are.
Jimin is gone. Did someone adopt him? Hoseok greets me happily, letting out a bark-like sound.
"Oh oh oh oh! You're back! I'm so happy! Welcome back! Can you pet me?! Please? I missed you!" It's fascinating how animal-like hybrids are. But so much more intelligent.
"Sure, Hoseok." I pet his soft hair and his leg hits the wall.
"I'm okay! I do that by accident. Sorry."
"It's okay. And can I ask you something?"
"Of course, but please keep petting me!" He closes his eyes, his huge tail thumping against the wall and his leg shaking.
"What happened to Jimin?" His tail falters and his eyes open, reflecting something sad.
"He got adopted yesterday..."
"What's wrong?" I ask, sympathetic. Seeing this bright pup so upset squeezes something inside me. His ears flatten on his head.
"The man that adopted him kept pulling on his collar. And his d-daughter..." tears prickle his eyes.
"Shh, it's okay. You don't have to tell me anything." I gently run my fingers through his hair. He shakes his head and leans toward my hand.
"N-no. I can do it. His daughter, she was grabbing him."
"How so?"
"Grabbing his...pee pee." I feel bile in my throat.
"I'm sorry..."
"It's not your fault. Jimin... he was so sad. I don't want him to be used like a... sex doll." Before I know it, a tear trickles down my cheek.
"I wish I could have done something." Hoseok smiles up at me with hope.
"I know you would have. I can tell." Hoseok touches his chest. "You have a big heart."
Choking on a sob, I lean my head against the glass. Hoseok does the same.
"I wish it could be better. Hybrids are people too. You don't deserve this..." Hoseok starts making a strange rumbling noise. Not a purr, but like a soft growl. It's not comforting, but it's his effort that counts.
"Bonding with Hobi, huh?" I jump and turn around. Jungkook. Embarrassed, I stand up and look anywhere except him. "Hey! No need to be shy. Me and Tae talk to them, too."
"Oh. That's good of you guys."
"I'm really really happy you came back to see Yoongi. And Hobi, too, now since Jimin and NamJoon are gone." When I look back at the containers, only Hobi and Yoongi are left. The latter of which I hadn't noticed. But he's watching me, awe written all over his face, hands pressed against the glass.
It's as if he couldn't believe I would come back.
"I have a question."
"Shoot."
"Where do you guys find the hybrids?" Jungkook brings his finger to his chin in thought.
"I'm not sure. Only my boss knows that. But by the end of the month, these containers are occupied again. Well, except the hybrids that aren't adopted." Frowning, I think back to Yoongi.
"How long has Yoongi been here, exactly?"
"Sorry. Confidential. My boss tells me I can't tell the customers Yoongi's age." He rubs his neck with an awkward smile.
I shift my weight on my leg and cross my arms. This boss of his must be a horrible person.
"Why?"
"It makes him more appealing to buy, not that it has ever worked. When I tell you Yoongi has been here a long time, I mean a long time. You can't imagine." Tears prick at the corner of my eyes. There's no way no one has never shown interest in Yoongi. It's unfathomable. I look back at the hybrid who is sitting there fiddling with some hairs on his tail— cute.
"Sorry. I just-"
"It's okay. It's okay. I was like that, too, when I got hired." He sighs and turns around. "Listen, I gotta go restock the shelves. You have a good night."
"Thank you. You, too." When he leaves, I turn toward Yoongi. His eyes widen when I look at him. Smiling, I go to sit in front of his container. He curls into himself, making himself smaller.
"Hi, Yoongi."
"Hi..." I come closer to the glass and he looks down.
"How are you?"
He blinks, mouth opening and closing before giving me a simple, "Okay."
"Really? Tell me about your day?" He vigorously shakes his head and brushes his tail. "No? How about I'll tell you about mine, then you tell me about yours?" Yoongi considers it a while and eventually nods.
"I had a really boring day. I sat in a class all day and then my work was empty. There weren't any customers."
"Was it...big?" His question caught me off guard.
"The class?" He nods. "Yeah! It's like the size of five of this store."
His mouth opens wide, a cute sound of awe escaping. It makes me smile.
When I first met Yoongi, I thought he would be more aggressive, but he's so gentle and adorable.
"So what about you, Yoongi?" He jumps, probably still thinking about how big the class was.
"Me?"
"Yeah. Tell me about your day."
The hybrid looks down. Something unintelligible is said under his breath. If my ears don't deceive me, he just whispered, "It's not important..."
"Of course it's important. Your day was really important. I think it's important." He grips his tail again.
"I slept."
"What did you dream about?" Yoongi whips his head up toward me. His eyes blow out and suddenly he squirms. I see his Adam's apple bob as he places his hand on the glass. I put mine on the glass above his hand.
"Oh. Ah... I can't tell you."
"Why not?" I put my hands on my hips playfully. He leans against the glass.
"C-can you..." his words trail off shyly.
"Hm?"
He shifts around and quickly blurts, "Can you pet me like you pet Hoseok?" It takes me a moment to understand what he's asking, but when I do, I smile softly.
"Yoongi, you're really cute." And unexpectedly, he sputters in embarrassment.
"W-why?" Once I pet his head, he starts shaking.
"Because you're so sweet and well-mannered. And physically, you're cute." He leans into my hand further and finally, I can really feel the softness of his hair and ears. Chinchillas really are soft. His face is practically pressed against the glass. And his whole body seems to react to my touch. It's fascinating to watch him slowly warm up to me.
My watch ruins the moment as it beeps loudly. Yoongi jumps away with a small squeak— so darn cute —as I look down. I frown when I realize it's time for me to leave.
"Sorry, Yoongi. I have to leave." As I begin standing up, his hand reaches out of the hole to grab my sleeve. But I suppose it was a thing of the moment since he retracted it as soon as it came. Judging by his uncertain expression, I know what is worrying him.
"I promise I'll be back again tomorrow," I say as I rub behind his ears. This time a little smile appears on his face.
The next day when I return, it's a bit earlier in the day since I would be working late night. I skipped my free period to come and spend a while with Yoongi.
When I arrive, Jungkook is at the counter instead of Taehyung. He smiles and waves.
"Welcome! You're here at a different time today." Leaning against the counter, he places his head on his palms.
"Yeah. I work late today. I didn't want to miss seeing the hybrids though." Jungkook stands up straight.
"Oh! I think Tae is in the back with a customer. I think Hoseok might get adopted."
"Okay. Thanks, Jungkook." At what he said, I don't know if I should be happy or worried. Who knows who will adopt Hoseok.
When I reach the back of the store, there's a thin, gangly looking man in a pinstripe suit. His beard is patchy and his eyes are thin, bags underneath. Hoseok is outside of his cage, a leash around his neck. Once I get over his height, I notice the sad look in his eyes. His whole body seems to sag.
"-Here are the papers, sir." Taehyung hands the man a folder as the man frowns.
"Why this mutt got so many papers?" The man's Chicago accent is thick as he tugs on Hoseok's leash. The Golden Retriever hybrid flinches and comes down. I step forward more. Gosh, I want to stab this man.
"It's policy when adopting a hybrid to have all their information. They are part human." Taehyung's voice is tight, although his expression betrays nothing.
"Human? This mutt's about as smart as an acorn!" The man laughs.
"Actually, dog hybrids are among the smartest, especially a Golden Retriever like Hoseok-"
"This thing ain't good for nothing except sex and killing. That's why they were created, kid. Don't be giving me none of that pretty shit." Hoseok whimpers at his words. The man pulls on Hoseok's leash harshly, making the poor pup cough and bend over. Taehyung sighs and clenches his fist.
I see red and can't bear to watch a second longer. Stomping over to the man, he sees my approach.
"What you-" I sock him in the eye and hit his pressure point. He falls to the ground. Heaving, my lips pulled in a snarl, I bend over my knees. My anger made me breathless. How can this man be so stupid and heartless and just horrible to treat a kind hybrid like Hoseok like that?! Hybrids should have never been created, to avoid suffering like this. I can't recall a hybrid ever being treated well.
"Thank you," Taehyung tells me once I've calmed down. I'm shocked.
"What?"
Hoseok jumps me, whimpering and whining and tears staining my shirt.
"I would have done that myself, but my boss would have fired me. I hate people like that."
"Why are you and Jungkook working here if you know what goes on?" I ask, outraged. Hobi's buries his head into my shirt.
"I trust you, so I'll let you in on a secret."
"Okay?"
"We've actually been freeing hybrids secretly. You remember how I told you about NamJoon?" I nod. "Me and Jungkook and a few other friends have been combining money to buy the hybrids and release them to hybrid sanctuaries."
My mouth is agape. So is this store... is a front? No way. They can't afford to release every hybrid. And Hoseok was just about to get purchased.
"What about the hybrids that don't get freed?"
"Well..." he smiles sadly, regret swimming in his eyes. "We can't save them all."
"I see..."
"That's why I'm glad you knocked out that guy. Hoseok can stay longer and that buys us time." Upon hearing his name, Hoseok parts from me and asks me to take his leash off.
"What about Yoongi?" The words pour out like vomit: uncontrolled and with a bitter taste.
"The owner...keeps him." My mouth is agape in horror. I can't stop myself from dry heaving. Why is there something so horrible going on behind the scenes? Where does this person get the hybrids? Do they abuse the others?
"The only reason we told you the price is that we thought you might actually take him. People don't even glance his way anymo-"
"What does your boss do with him?!" Taehyung shushes me to keep my voice down.
"I don't know. But I've stayed overnight a few times. I can hear things." I can't believe my friend bought a dog from this store. It makes my stomach lurch at the thought.
“What kind of things?”
“...Moaning-” Taehyung winces as soon as he says it. I cover my mouth in shock and disgust. “Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine. That’s so horrible.”
"Every time I see Yoongi in that thing pressed against that corner, I feel so sorry. I feel sorry for his existence." Hoseok notices my distress and envelops me in a hug, rocking me back and forth.
"I won't stop visiting. I'll save up money. I want to take Yoongi away from here," I tell Taehyung with determination.
"Please do. I'm sure Yoongi would be so happy to hear that." Hoseok yawns and Taehyung chuckles.
"Wanna know something? He stares at the door every time that bell jingles. Yoongi."
"Really? I'm glad he's so fond of me." I grin and go to sit in front of Yoongi's cage. He comes up to me quickly and leans his head on the glass. Taehyung tells Hoseok to get back into his container and the hybrid falls asleep as soon as his head hits the blanket. He leaves Yoongi and me alone.
"Yoongi." He smiles. Just smiles. Can hearing his name make him that happy?
"Hi." He sounds less shy today. "You know what I dreamt about?" It visibly shocks me to hear him initiating the conversation.
"Sorry, sir. You probably were drunk."
"Damn. Can't remember anything."
"Shall I escort you to the door?"
"Yeah whatever."
"What did you dream about?"
"...You." His face is buried deep into his hands and I find myself blushing. That was...cute. For lack of better words.
"What about me?" I press him. He shakes his head, shy again. It probably already took so much for him to say that. "What if I say please?"
"Maybe..."
"Fine. Yoongi, will you please tell me what your dream about me was about?" Reaching toward his ears, I pet the soft, but slightly mangled appendages. Despite his mutations— no, because of his mutations —I find him so beautiful.
"I dreamt that I was holding your hand..." It makes my heart feel so weak. My whole body is warm and happy at hearing it.
"Do you want to hold my hand?" He looks back at me as his beady eyes search mine.
"...Can I?" His question is so innocent.
"Of course!" I stop petting him and hold my hand out. And for a while, Yoongi stares at it, as if he has never seen a hand before. As if my hand is sculpted by God himself. For Yoongi, it might just be that way.
Finally, his fingers brush mine and I feel my whole body alight. It was strange. His hand awkwardly wraps around mine. I laugh. He looks at me in confusion, eyebrows furrowed.
"Did I...do it right?"
"Mm. Sort of. Like this-" I interlace my fingers with his, feeling his digits slide with mine perfectly. His hands are warm and sweaty, a product of his high body temperature and nervousness.
He looks at our hands and moves them around, awestruck. Smiling, I come closer to be more comfortable. Yoongi closes his eyes and pets his tail with his free hand. A soft smile forms on his lips.
"I like it."
"Me, too." We sit in silence as he eventually leans against the glass. This makes me so happy. I've had so many friends, boyfriends, pets and yet none make me feel quite like this. So utterly complete. I want to know Yoongi more, but for now, this is enough.
"Thank you." Laughing, I watch the smile on his face transform into a gum-filled grin. He looks content.
"For what?"
"Coming to see me." I lean against the glass and he does the same.
A whole week passes. My semester finals had me staying up night after night and I didn't even have time in the day to eat. Day in and day out: studying. But I couldn't contain my joy— and guilt for not being able to see the hybrids —once I heard those familiar rusty bells jingle.
"Woah. You look worse for wear." Languidly, I turn to Taehyung at the counter.
"Thanks. Finals have not been gentle on me."
"I'm sure seeing Yoongi and Hoseok will brighten you up. I heard that animals and hybrids can reduce stress."
I yawn and send him a lazy thumbs up. He laughs.
"He missed you!" He yells at me once I'm past the entrance. It puts a smile on my face. I missed Yoongi, too. How has he been without me here to talk to him? Despite the guilt, I couldn't put aside my health and future for Yoongi. But now I was wholeheartedly his.
"Hi hi hi hi!" Something big and warm tackles me. And licks my neck? I wiggle in discomfort at being attacked. The person latched onto me eventually removes himself. I'm greeted by a beautiful heart-shaped smile.
"Hey, Hoseok," I say as I pinch his cheek. The hybrid gets off quickly and runs around excitedly.
"Oh boy! We should play! Let's play!" He runs somewhere in the store, effectively leaving my sight. My eyes drift and I see Yoongi on the floor, legs criss-cross and with a bowl of soup on his lap. When we lock eyes, he jumps and looks away.
Was he...mad at me?
I finally hear Jungkook chuckle. He was probably hearing the commotion.
"Nice to see you back. You came at a good time."
"Yeah. I was about to ask."
"For about thirty minutes three times a day, we take the hybrids out to eat and play-"
"Kookie, can I please use this ball?!" Hoseok rams into Jungkook. The employee laughs but shakes his head.
"Sorry, Hobi. You know I can't let you play with merchandise." And even as Hoseok whines, Jungkook stays strong. The Golden Retriever pouts and sits down to chow down on his food, making a huge mess. I laugh.
"How have they been?"
"Hoseok missed you a little, but fine. Yoongi, though, he asked for you every day."
"Be quiet!" Said boy protests, his cheeks big and lips pressed into a pout.
I walk over to him and grab his empty hand. He gasps and looks our hands.
"Sorry I didn't visit. I was really busy. I missed you, too."
His face softens and he smiles, but he decides to be stubborn as he looks away from me.
"Prove it."
"I will." With that, I gently bring him into my arms and press his head to my shoulder, treating him like fragile glass. He tenses up and I see his fists clench. I shush him to make him calm down.
His body feels warm and soft like a blanket. I pet his head and play with the hair around his neck.
He squeaks. I giggle. Eventually, he returns the hug and nuzzles into my shoulder, shaking and squeaking. We relax as I hum softly near his ear.
"Wow. I knew Chinchillas could squeak and shake, but I've never seen Yoongi do it. He wayyyy likes you," Jungkook explains as he begins picking up the food dishes.
Yoongi— for such a small hybrid —is still strong, since his iron grip doesn't want to let go.
"Come on, Yoongi. It's time for you to get back in your container-" I hear something gets knocked over. "-You, too, Hoseok!"
"Nooooo. I'm not tired yet!" Hoseok jumps up and down like a spoiled kid.
Patting Yoongi's back, he finally let's go. We both stand up. Yoongi looks so small and frail curled inside his cage, but he's still taller than me.
Jungkook unlocks the boys' containers and he practically forces Hoseok inside. Before going to crawl into his container, Yoongi turns around and smiles at me. He places on my head.
"You're small."
.
.
.
Was that him playing around with me? For some reason, it sends a flutter in my stomach and straight to my soul.
"You're not that tall, either!" Yoongi grins and hugs me again, placing his chin on my head.
He let's go and says, "It's okay. I like it." For once, it's me blushing furiously and not him. Crawling into his own, Jungkook comes to lock it, but Yoongi puts his hand up to stop him. Reaching his hand out to me, I interlace my fingers with his.
"Come back. Please." And as commanding as it sounds, it's accompanied by a shy smile and a Yoongi blush.
"Of course. I really promise to come every day from now on, okay?"
"Okay." He sits against the wall as Jungkook finally locks him up.
His gummy smile is on his face again, I send him my own. Shyly, he asks, "...Pinky promise?"
Giggling, I reach through the hole and interlace my pinky with his.
And at that moment, I made a decision. I would save up and buy Yoongi. Somehow I would save up those $1,000.
"Anatomy is canceled for the day. You're all about to graduate. Enjoy some freedom. I have to go somewhere." The whole auditorium erupts in cheers. People quickly disperse and those that don't, talk to their friends.
"Hey," my friend grabs my attention. "Let's get outta here?"
"Alright." We grab our bags and walk down the steps and out of the door. The hallways are mostly vacant. "Actually, I wanted to talk to you about the pet shop."
"Oh yeah! I've been so busy I forgot to ask."
I rub my forehead. How typical of her. Jennie is either ditsy or cold, there is no in between.
"I actually didn't adopt anything."
"What? Why not?"
"To be honest, the moment I got there, this guy led me to the hybrid cages." When I finish saying this, Jennie looks sad.
We make it outside to the park near the labs.
"Hybrids are so cool and cute, but have you heard the news?" We settle down on a bench.
"What?"
"Since hybrid anatomy is so close to humans, they've been experimenting on them. And the government for some reason is totally okay with it."
"It's sad, but at this point, what can we do." I shake my head.
"Sorry for interrupting. What were you saying?"
I cross my arms and start, "When I went, I saw a mutated hybrid. He's been there for so long that the employees don't even want to tell me."
"Aww. Poor guy."
"Yeah. I was really considering buying him, but even with all those issues he's still $1,000." Jennie frowns and leans her head on my shoulder.
"Hybrids shouldn't be bought and sold. That's so...wrong!" Nodding, I sigh.
"About a week ago, I've started taking extra shifts. I want to get him out of there."
"Seriously?!" Jennie gets off my shoulder and watches me. I lock eyes with her and furrow my brows. "Holy shit! You're serious!"
"Yes," I whisper, as I smile at the thought of the hybrid I met a month ago. He's really so sweet, although he has some sassy moments. And of course, he's always so excited to see me. Yoongi is also handsome, a great bonus. I've grown to care for him beyond an owner and pet— not that it was ever like that anyway.
"Hey. What's with that face?" Jennie pokes my side with a dumb grin. "You looooveee him?"
"...I actually haven't thought about that. Maybe."
"Wait what?! I was joking! But if you do, then go for it. Hybrid and human relationships are..."
"Well, I hope in the future, it will be accepted." Jennie goes back to her side.
Silence passes over us.
If I can adopt Yoongi, will I be able to support both of us? What does he eat? How does he sleep? Bathe? What does he like? Can he work?
Is he interested in me how I'm interested in him?
"What's his name? And what is he? Like, hybrid."
"Yoongi. And he's Chinchilla." She squeals in my ear when she hears that.
"Cute! And soft. But don't they live for like five years?"
The one thing I didn't want to think about. The thing I keep pushing to the back of my mind. If Yoongi is old and Chinchillas only live for ten years, then how long would I have with him? Even if he was young, ten years is nothing for a human. A distressed expression appears on my face.
"Sorry for asking about it. It's probably not something you want to think about."
"Don't worry about it. I already knew; I was just in denial."
"Hey! Don't look so glum! Enjoy Yoongi a lot and don't worry too much, okay?"
"Alright, Jennie. I will," I say to pacify her as I force a smile to my lips.
But now, I can't help worrying.
Jingle. The bells sound really loud. When I look up, they're not rusty. I guess they bought some new ones.
"Good morning! You're here bright and early! I think Yoongi's eating breakfast," Taehyung tells me. I smile and go up to the counter.
"I actually am saving up to buy him. I'm really close!"
"O-oh really?" Taehyung is shocked and his expression morphs into melancholy and some shade of regret. But I brush it off.
"Yeah. I can't wait. I think next week is my big bonus."
"That's...good. The new hybrids are also coming next week. That container of his will be for another hybrid..."
Grinning, I chirp, "Yep! See you, Tae!" I quickly walk to the back.
I've been meaning to ask Yoongi his age, but Jungkook or Taehyung have been present and I know they won't let him answer. I'm hoping that today, Jungkook will be busy.
To my surprise, Jungkook is cleaning out Hoseok's container. It makes me explode in joy.
"Did you guys buy Hoseok?" Jungkook jumps and hits his head on the top of the container.
"Ouch."
"Oh. Sorry, Kook!" I walk over and rub his head.
"No worries," he waves me off as he leaves the container. "And actually, Hoseok got adopted by a really nice guy. I think his name was Jackson. He was about as energetic as Hoseok. I'm sure he's in a good place."
Jungkook locks the container.
"Wow... That's amazing. I'm so happy."
"We are, too. This month was pretty good with the exception of Jimin. Poor guy." We stand in silence for a bit as if sending Jimin our prayers.
"It's okay. You guys are doing great."
"Thanks. I'm glad you're here to keep them company. We can't be here all day. We have other animals to take care of and other things to do— Speaking of which-" He starts gathering his rag and broom. "I have to clean up!"
"Huh?"
"The inspectors are coming tomorrow and this place has to be spotless!" Jungkook runs off.
I send my thanks to the heavens.
"Hey. I'm here, too." The sarcastic remark reminds me of Yoongi's presence.
"Hey, Yoongi!" I sit beside his container later that week.
"Hello." He smiles and scoots forward. Yoongi pokes his hand outside of his enclosure and interlaces our hands. My blush appears.
I cough awkwardly.
"Um, I hope this isn't a strange question, but how old are you?" Yoongi tilts his head and looks around, trying to remember.
"I think...ten years old." My stomach drops.
"W-what? Are you sure?" I can feel myself shaking.
He doesn't have very long...
"Yes. I remember celebrating my birthdays. They put those number candles. In March I turned ten."
My grip on his hand tightens. I look down to avoid his eyes.
"And...h-how long have you been here?"
"Ten years." Tears stream down my cheeks.
"I-I'm so so sorry, Yoongi!" The sobs I've been holding in can't be controlled anymore. I cough as my throat feels like there's a golf ball lodged inside.
Why has he been suffering for so long? Having to watch hybrids adopted right next to him every day, watching and progressively losing his own hope of being taken home. The owner of this shop does God knows what to him when the store closes. How much has he gone through? And for this to have been the short, miserable existence he has had.
He'll die having experienced nothing that makes him happy.
Instead of telling me it would be okay, he places his hand on my head and pets me. I look up, surely a mess.
"You pet me like this when we first met. It made me feel better." He runs his fingers through my hair and hums. I sob harder and lean against the glass.
"Y-Yoon-gi."
"Don't cry. I like you happy."
My sobs reduce to hiccups and I stop crying. It does work, shockingly. When I look up, Yoongi looks drowsy.
"Better?" He yawns. "I'm tired. If I sleep and you're still here, wake me up."
His eyes slowly drift closed as he slows his petting.
I can't help wondering: Is he actually tired, or...is this something else?
Tomorrow is my bonus paycheck. I can adopt Yoongi and at least give him the best I can in the limited time he has. I can't wait. Practically running into the store, I yell a quick, "Hi, Taehyung!" and run to the back. Jungkook is on his phone waiting for Yoongi to finish his food.
Yoongi hears me approach and his scraggly Chinchilla ears perk up. He grins his typical, gum-filled grin. I see a few pieces of stray food between his teeth— the poor baby was probably starving —, but instead of being disgusted, I feel even more endeared.
"Hey, guys!" Jungkook looks up and jumps out of his chair.
"Great! You're here! Watch Yoongi, okay? I really gotta poo!" Scrunching my nose, I look Jungkook up and down with feigned disgust.
"Eww. Didn't need to know that, Kook."
"Yeah yeah. Okay, Mom," he sighs with an eye roll. He leaves us alone.
I grab his chair and come closer to Yoongi.
"Hewwo," he says through a mouthful of spinach. It's so cute that he loves spinach so much.
"Hey, Yoongi. I actually wanted to talk to you about my plans for tomorrow." He nods, accidentally dropping a piece of food, pouting. Gosh, he's so cute it melts my heart and insides.
"I've saved up enough money to adopt you. So I get a direct deposit tomorrow and with all the money I can come and take you home! I've been thinking about it for a long time and I've always wanted to adopt you. How does that-"
Yoongi crushes me into his body. He's shaking and his fingers clench the back of my shirt as if I'll leave him. His knees buckle and we end up on the floor. I can hear and feel his near hummingbird speed heart rate. And by God, is his breathing hard.
"T-thank you! Thank you so much!" When I hear his voice straining and the first tear touches my thin t-shirt, I near cry, too.
"Whatever for? I've always wanted to adopt you. I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner." He shakes his head.
"For showing me that not all humans are bad."
"Yoongi, you don't have to thank me fo-"
"I want to. You're my favorite person."
A burning chill runs up my back, arms, head— my whole body. I can't believe my ears.
"What?" He removes himself and searches my eyes, his own red and sparkling with tears.
"Can I say that?" Blushing, I take him in. I'm happy I could give him this simple, but rare joy.
"Of course. You're my favorite person, too." Yoongi's eyes widen, but he grins. Then, he blushes, hesitant.
Evidently, he catches me off guard when he presses his lips against mine.
I melt all over again. Of course, I press against him. He wraps his arms around my shoulders and I watch his eyes flutter shut. My own follow. Bunching up the fabric at his chest with my hands, I smile into the kiss. It doesn't last very long, but it's so soft and so full of love that it's better than any kiss I've had in the past. It has meaning.
He leans his forehead against mine.
"Did you like it?"
"Yeah. I did." He grins looking a bit more confident.
"Can I do it again?" Not a second elapses before he presses his lips to mine again.
This time, he's taken the experience from the first time and kisses me with more force. His lips move and dance with mine. I sigh, feeling content just like this. Something pokes my bottom lip, and I blush, realizing it's his tongue. Yoongi's chest is heaving against mine and he forces himself against me, pressing his body impossibly close.
"Woah! Didn't expect this after doing my business!"
We push away from each other upon hearing Jungkook's voice. I recover quickly, but Yoongi is red like a tomato and furiously picking at some skin patch on his tail. He looks like a kindergartener who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Cute.
Everything he does is so cute, who am I kidding.
"Wow. You weren't joking. All in cash, too!"
I woke up early the next morning— well I actually stayed awake until my deposit came in at midnight —to come to adopt Yoongi. None of my classes were this early, so I wanted to bring Yoongi home to help him get acquainted with my home. He just woke up and was rather confused why Jungkook woke him up so early.
But as soon as he saw me, he came and leaned his head on mine and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"All in cash, too, sir!" Taehyung laughs at my response.
"Alright, well, everything is all set. I'm happy you finally could take Yoongi home..." his voice drifts off as he glances over to hybrid. I notice this.
"Tae?"
"Actually, could I talk to you outside?" Nodding, I follow, but then adds, "Without Yoongi." Yoongi shrugs and tiredly leans against the counter.
The bell jingles.
The door shuts.
We walk a little away from the store.
Taehyung runs a hand through his hair and sighs. "Yesterday when you told me you were going to adopt Yoongi, I was so nervous." He hesitates.
I urge him to continue.
"Yoongi is ten years old. And Chinchillas don't live long. I think you've already noticed how tired he is recently."
Something heavy drops in the pit of my stomach. This again. Frowning, I look at Yoongi inside. He's almost asleep again, just leaning against that counter.
"As an employee, it's my obligation to tell you this."
"Okay, Tae. Please- just- just go on."
"He's going to die soon."
I swallow. Hard.
I've been avoiding that word. To put that word and Yoongi in the same sentence together, it's making me distraught.
"...I know. I still want to adopt him."
"I'm happy his last... months, weeks, days— who knows, are with you. He's been happier than ever-"
"It's nothing. He deserves better. Even much better than what I could give him." Taehyung nods and smiles, placing a hand on my shoulder. He can tell I don't want to discuss it anymore.
"Oh!" He reaches into his pocket for his phone. "Tell me your number. I'll text you mine and Jungkook's numbers. We are like this-" He crosses his index and middle finger. "-Now."
I giggle and roll my eyes. "Sure. I'll come by a few times. Maybe we can hang out like actual, normal friends."
"Eh. Maybe don't count on that. Anyway!" He pushes me back into the store, the jingling bells waking up Yoongi. "Take care of Yoongi! He's fragile!" Said hybrid rolls his eyes and follows me out of the store.
"Bye, Tae! Tell Jungkook I said hi and bye!"
We walk to the parking lot and Yoongi takes in everything with wide eyes. He touches my car and presses his face against the glass. I laugh.
"Get in, Yoongi!"
He looks overwhelmed, eventually asking, "You can go inside?" It makes me slightly sad, remembering how he's never gone anywhere except inside that store.
"Yes. Just pull on that handle." Once he sits inside, he finds more shocking revelations.
"There's so many buttons..."
"Don't touch them, okay? I don't want anything to happen." He obeys as I lean across the dash to buckle him in. Yoongi presses a kiss to my cheek. Sputtering and fighting a blush, I return to my seat to find a smirking hybrid.
"Okay. What kind of music do you like?"
"I can choose?"
"Of course!"
"Hip-hop."
"Oooooh. So cool, Yoongi." He nods and crosses his arms, feigning coolness.
But as soon as the car actually goes on the road, he's pressed to the window. He points at places through his window, in awe. All of which I promise to take him. By the end of the trip, my smile almost hurts, having never left.
Once we get home, Yoongi is so happily talking his head off about hip-hop that I don't dare to interrupt. Not that I want to; he's so cute when he's passionate. Plus, he never talks this much. I shove my key inside.
"Welcome home!" Yoongi cautiously steps inside. He slowly sits on the couch.
He looks up at me like a kid on Christmas. I've never seen Yoongi so happy.
"Like it?"
"Do you live here?"
"Huh? Well, yes," I respond, perplexed by his question. He yawns and lies down on the couch.
"Then I like it."
His simple words make my heart pump and toes tingle. The little smile on his lips as he rests on my couch has me like putty in his presence. Although his sudden tiredness worries me, I ignore it; he has had an eventful morning after all.
I check my phone for the time. He could nap for an hour before I had to go to class.
Tomorrow was the weekend. As I check the weather, I realize it would be absolutely perfect to go to the beach. Maybe Yoongi could use some sunlight. I laugh to myself.
I giggle at Yoongi's struggling to put the t-shirt on, his cute, pale belly wiggling. He eventually gets it on, a perfect fit.
"Sorry if it's old. It's one of my sleeping shirts. It was the only thing I could find that would fit you."
He brings it up to his nose and inhales deeply. Then, he shakes his head and smiles.
"It's fine. I like how it smells like you."
Damn. I clench the fabric around my chest dramatically.
"So-! Cute-!" He grabs my keys and hands them to me. By the awkward body language, I can tell I've embarrassed him.
I give him a once over and can't help the smile on my face. His cute little board shorts. It takes a lot of willpower to forego the trip and just cuddle him on the couch.
"Let's go."
Despite how many times I had to tell Yoongi to keep his seatbelt on, the trip was fun and quiet. Also, the fact Yoongi wanted to hold my hand made driving more difficult.
The beach is empty, probably since it's so early in the morning. Yoongi pulls on my bag.
Brows furrowing, he tells me, "Let me hold your bag."
"Why?"
"Taehyung used to put on movies for us to watch. Isn't it romantic for the boy to take the bag?" I look around, mentally looking for a spot to settle down before turning my attention back to him.
"Okay. Thank you, Yoongi." The bag slips from my fingers, but he does something unexpected.
He switches the bag to his other hand and holds my hand. We both blush furiously, but Yoongi can't seem to look me in the eye, so he looks away. Being careful of the dry seaweed, I lead him over to an empty spot.
"Sit here while I set up the umbrella." I remove my towel. Then I kneel down and prepare everything for us.
"You..."
"Me?"
"You look beautiful."
When I turn to Yoongi, he seems sincere.
"Poetic aren't you? Oh! Yoongi! We should build a sandcastle!" Upon finishing, I noticed the bucket and shovel.
"What is that?"
"I'll show you." The hybrid comes beside me, ears twitching with curiosity.
"Help me put sand in this bucket."
We work together until I carefully place the bucket upside down. When I remove it, the sand stays. Yoongi is in awe.
"I'm not done yet," I say as I begin drawing little decorations. Then I make a door. He gets the idea and carefully uses his fingers to carve little divots and ornate designs.
"Me and mom used to build sandcastles all the time when I was little." He smiles.
"What is she like?"
"Really nice. And she never gets mad at me. She's really smart, too. She is pretty even now. She's like an angel."
"You are just like her then. An angel." Our fingers touch and I look up at him. Next to me, Yoongi has a tender look in his eyes. He leans forward, planting a kiss on my temple.
My hand gets engulfed in sand and Yoongi flinches.
"Sorry. I ruined it."
"It's okay. Sandcastles are really great, but they're bound to go down."
"Oh," he whispers. And for some reason, he starts building it again.
"Do you want to do something else?" He numbly shakes his head.
"I want to build it again. I want this one to last forever," he explains, then turns to me. "It's the first one I made with you. It's more special."
Blinking, taken aback, I nod and help him.
Standing up once we finish, I grab his hand and help him up, but he nearly falls over. I panic and bring him close to support him.
"Yoongi?"
"It's okay." His eyes glaze over and I only now notice how weak and out of it he seems. Like a newborn dear, taking clumsy steps. He takes a few breaths and eventually rights himself.
He's weak. He's old. He's going to-
I stop the thought as I blurt, "Want to go get some ice cream?"
"What is ice cream?"
"It's difficult to explain, it's better to just try it." I grab my bag— which he takes out my hand in order to hold my hand —and very nearly drag him to an ice cream stand.
The man at the stand regards us with a fond grin.
"Pretty girlfriend." Yoongi blushes and I sneakily squeeze his hand.
"Thank you..."
"What can I get you?"
"One scoop of sea salt vanilla for him and a strawberry for me." Yoongi mentally notes what I said. I'm too scared to get him any other flavor for fear of his stomach not being able to digest it.
"Here you are! Three ninety-five."
Once I pay and we get seated on a bench, I eagerly start eating the dessert. But Yoongi, on the other hand, stares at it like it's an alien.
"Lick it." He observes how I do it before giving a cute, kitten-lick. His expression lights up, now devouring it like he won't ever eat again.
"Wow. I take it you like it?" He looks up from his treat, mouth stained with ice cream. Laughing, I grab a napkin and wipe his mouth.
He nods and struggles to say, "Gants." I laugh at his poor thank you.
After we both finish and our bellies are full of ice cream, I lean my head on Yoongi's shoulder. He follows and leans on mine, exhaling deeply. I can hear him yawn above me.
"I'm glad we could spend time like this, Yoongi. I really like you and I'm so thankful to have met you."
"Me, too..." His voice is quiet, and his body seems to sag. Maybe we can go home and relax after this.
Yoongi suddenly touches his chest. And he shakes. He takes a deep breath and doesn't breathe for a while.
"Hey, weirdo, what are you doing?" When he exhales, his heart starts pounding loudly. Yoongi sighs and grabs my hand, squeezing it.
"Nothing. I'm okay. It's nothing." Despite how strange it sounds, I ignore it.
"Can we come again tonight?"
"Tonight?" I look up at him, and he looks down at me with a pained expression.
"Yes. Please."
"Are you okay?"
"Yes. I'm okay. I just really want to come again." Nodding, I oblige to his wishes, but I can't help but worry about his odd behavior.
Just as I promised, when we finish eating dinner, I take him back down to the coast. I don't quite understand why he wants to come. As far as I can tell, he looks more ready for a long nap. But I still humor him and bring him down to the same spot.
The sandcastle was still halfway up, although the wind has definitely eroded it. Yoongi practically plops onto the ground. I don't bother setting up an umbrella and just get out a soft blanket and some cushions. After we get comfortable, Yoongi uses my lap as a pillow.
He takes a deep, shaky breath and touches his chest.
"What do you want to do?"
"Nothing. I just want to sit with you here a while."
"Oh," I mumble. For a while, I just run my fingers through his hair and watching his peaceful face. He looks like he's about to sleep.
"Are you tired, Yoongi?" When his eyes open, there are some unshed tears. My heart clenches, worried as to why he is so upset.
"I...yes."
"Why are you crying?"
"I am?" He wipes his eyes and forces a smile on his face, but I can't tell it's fake.
"You can tell me what's wrong."
"I'm sorry." Now confused, I watch as he grabs my hand and lays a kiss on the palm.
"Why?"
"Because... You've given me everything and I left you with nothing."
Frowning, I insist, "That's not true. You've given me a lot. Plus, I don't need material things. You're very precious to me. You've become the most person in my life."
He flinches hard when he hears that.
"Don't let me be that. It makes me feel so sad."
"Yoongi, you've been acting so strange today. As soon as we got home, you went to sleep. Then, when I asked you if you wanted to watch a movie, you told me you were too tired." Yoongi rolls over toward me and hugs my midriff.
I feel his tears on my shirt.
"I'm sorry."
"Yoongi. It's okay." I push him back so I can face him, and his eyes are swimming with a lot of things I can't place.
"Oh, Yoongi..." He clutches his chest.
Yoongi closes his eyes and breathes a few times. We sit there for a few minutes. I pet his head. The waves crash especially hard and our little sandcastle finally falls over. I smile at the memory from this morning. Yoongi was so happy to just be with me.
"Sorry. I have some thoughts really eating at me right now."
"It's okay. But never hesitate to tell me okay?" And for seemingly forever, Yoongi stares at me.
Then blurts, "I love you. I wanted to say it before I regret not saying it."
My heart beats out of my chest and if a human body could smile, every cell in my body would be smiling.
"I love you, too." He smiles his gummy smile. Again, he touches his chest. Closing his eyes, he grabs my hand again and squeezes it close to him.
"I'm going to...take a nap, okay?"
"Sure. We can go home after."
"...Yeah. And... Thank you so much for everything. My last— Uh. I'm glad you could take care of me for..."
He can't finish his sentence, as if something is holding him back. A little tear slips down the corner of his eye, but I don't catch it.
"I was in that place for so long. My entire life. Thank you for showing me love and happiness."
"Of course."
"And. I love you. A lot."
"Me, too."
"Can you say it? Please?" His voice cracks.
"I love you."
He smiles, still with an iron hold on my hand. His chest slows down. I can hear his heartbeat slowing, too. Such a calm, gentle thing. The waves crashing are the opposite. I didn't think I would get so attached to someone so fast like I did with Yoongi.
Sighing, I look down at him and squeeze his hand.
And I notice how oddly cold he is.
"Should have asked for a blanket, dummy." I drape it over him.
And then I notice that his chest isn't moving.
I furrow my eyebrows.
And then I realize I can't hear his heartbeat.
I gulp.
"Yoongi?" Lightly, I shake him.
He's as still as a rock.
Oh no no no no. Not now.
"Yoongi? This better be a joke!" I choke. Shaking him more vigorously, I start heaving.
Why now? Why?
I lean against his chest and can't hear or feel anything.
"Yoongi! Stop it right now!" My voice cracks. Before I know it I'm sobbing. I place my finger under his nose: no breath. His face is cold. I lean against his chest again, hoping for something.
The only thing I hear is my own heart.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" I grip his shirt, throat tightening, and stomach twisting. "I didn't know it would be so soon!" The tears running down my face are relentless.
How could he look so content and happy while my whole world is crumbling?! Why does time keep going, when I feel like it just stopped?!
"I'm so-so sorry. A month wasn't e-nough!"
He spent ten years of his life suffering and alone. It's not fair. Not fair for him or for me.
"I'm- I'm sorry I didn't do- do enough for you!" I hiccup. "You do-n't deserve th-this!" Bringing him toward me, I bury my face into his shoulder and squeeze him to me.
My tears reverberate:
Tap tap. Tap tap. Tap tap.
If only his heart sounded like that.
"I'm sorry, Yoongi."

Note: this is a continuation of a post // extremely long
101 reasons why Jikook/Kookmin is my ultimate OTP or 101 times Jikook made my heart flutter (Part 2)
PART 1
51) A jikook compilation wouldn’t be a compilation without THE back hugs.
Hands on waist...
Chin on shoulder...
52) Not long after Jimin tweeted a pic of ramen, Jungkook indirectly replied to him by posting FOUR selcas of him along with a message telling him his ramen looked bland. idk about you but i found this interaction cute.
53) The artistic couple. The muscle pig and manggaetteok drawings that were featured in Snow App. They even drew the chicken drawings on the menu at Isac. I can imagine them sitting and drawing random things together. ㅠㅠ
54) Jimin posted not one but three videos on Jungkook’s birthday, which means he wished Jungkook three times on SNS and made my head spin thrice.
55) Jimin and Jungkook took photos of each other sleeping.
56) When Jungkook thought there was no camera around when they were rounding the corner so he went up to Jimin and slid his hand around his waist. Little did he know they got caught on camera. I’d like to thank Yoongi’s vj for this awesome footage.
57) The many times Jimin has summoned Jungkook for Armys. In simpler words, Jungkook always tweets something after Jimin, and we all know how seldom he appears on Twitter.
58) “hyung has cute toes” Okay but like who lingers around his friend’s photo shoot and randomly blurts out that he has cute..toes????
59) The look! Jungkook’s expression when he’s feeding Jimin earns him a spot on this list haha. Tbh They’re kinda like eyefucking eo when jimin’s being fed. look at Jimin’s eyes. Apart from that I like how Jungkook fed him.
60) Their interactions the whole ISAC. Masterlist 👣
61) How can I miss this? Jikook in Japan..this one has a special place in my heart. Back in 2016, it had been just a casual discussion between me and my friends on kakao. Never thought jikook would continue displaying PDA every single time they go to Japan. What’s more when they have very strict no-camera policy during concerts.
62) The amount of heart eyes they shoot at each other.
63) When they had a dinner date in the dorm to promote Mala Hot Chicken. What baffled me was that Jungkook mentioned beforehand he wanted to sleep but he still accompanied Jimin. I’m soft.
64) Jimin has made it very apparent, truly obvious that he likes jungkook. Whether it’s liking him as a dongsaeng, or just someone he’s extremely comfortable with, Jimin always, without failing, reminds us who he dotes on. “Why do I like you so much?” Lately, I’ve been crazy because I like Jungkook so much. I think of this as a start of something beautiful, and I am so glad Jimin didn’t even hesitate in expressing his feelings towards the maknae. I think this might have helped jungkook unwind. Look at jungkook now. That’s some character development right there :)
youtube
65) Massage. Quoted line from AHL mentor, Tony Jones “They are very touchy feely and to them, it’s nothing. I’d walk into the room and Suga’s massaging V’s neck or Jimin’s giving Jungkook an intimate back massage..”
66) When Jungkook bent down so he would get closer to Jimin and put the rein-kook headband on Jimin’s head. They’re separated a lot of times during fansigns but somehow they managed to get tgt at the end.
67) When Jungkook blows a kiss, then turns to Jimin whose lips are puckered and does the same to him, using the same fingers he used earlier. Okay I’ve been meaning to say this. Realistically speaking, if you pucker your lips and you put your fingers on them, wouldn’t your saliva stick to your fingers? I’m not trying to imply anything here, just genuinely asking haha. 140529 Ameba Studio
68) When a webtoon artist gave Jimin two dolls, but Jimin decided to give one to Jungkook. She even posted a webtoon of them. To be honest who wouldn’t?
69) *screams to the people in the back* ALL-NIGHTER FRIENDS!!! As written by the man himself, “ALL the time, it’s just the two of us doing something at night. I don’t know what we do”
70) Jungkook scribbling hearts all over Jimin’s birthday drawing. He’s one whipped man.
71) Just other instances Jungkook and Jimin flirting on stage.
//gif above isn’t mine//
72) When Jimin and Jungkook chose each other when asked “if you were a girl, who would you date?”
73) The shocking fact that Jungkook demanded an apartment from Jimin as a graduation gift. Like, apartment? of all things? What kind of domesticity is this?
74) The way Jungkook takes care of Jimin even though he’s the younger one, and how Jimin is there when he’s the one seeking comfort.
75) I will never forget the Gayo Back hug, ever. I’ve mentioned back hug somewhere above, but this is different. This deserves a point of its own.
76) When Jimin took off one of his rings at the airport and gave it to jungkook.
77) When Jungkook stopped in front of Jimin during his part in For You at Osaka concert, and kind of directed the lyrics for Jimin. Jimin just couldn’t stop smiling afterward :((( The lyrics are: It smells like you The road that I walk on I plug my earphone to my status My true feelings lie beyond there
78) When Jimin and Jungkook steered away from the bunch and instead opted for some alone on the cruise. people say you smile the brightest when you’re with someone you love, yes?
79) The fact that Jimin wanted to become napa cabbage after seeing Kook dressed up as a bunny, so he could eat him, albeit choosing to be cheese initially. What even is that statement lol 👣
80) The morph of their dynamic. I kind of miss their old moments, when Jimin was bolder, more carefree, and Jungkook seemed to be too shy to reciprocate. (on camera). Now they have matured. They have grown up well. A wave of nostalgia sweeps over me. The transition of their relationship is extremely beautiful.
81) When Jimin became Jungkook’s makeup artist for a day, hovering around the set, even drawing a pic of a bird that’s used as a prop later.
82) their size difference might be exaggerated at times, but you really can’t deny that it is cute, even if it’s not much.
83) When Jungkook changed the lyrics in Spring Day to Jimin. Like a small piece // Of Jimin // That floats in the air
84) When Jungkook showed to the world what a sweet boyfriend he is,making jimin laugh, sitting him on his lap, hugging him on his birthday. Sweet sweet jungkookie.
85) Let’s state the obvious- 21CG choreos!!! i love how they evolved, just like their remarkable, legendary nmd lift.
86) Their sensual dance covers.
87) When Jungkook guides and encourages Jimin during games/missions.
88) The many times Jimin has been spotted wearing Jungkook’s clothes, despite the well-known fact that Jungkook doesn’t share clothes. Newsflash: Jungkook wears Jimin’s too!
89) We know Jungkook knows Jimin like the back of his hand, but that doesn’t mean that Jimin knows any less. I think they spend time together way too much.👣
90) How often the word “JIMIN” trips off Jungkook’s tongue- this what fascinates me the most. At one time he even mistook Jin for Jimin.
91) Jimin’s eagerness to kiss Jungkook for his Coming of Age, being the first one to hold out a hand for a game of Rock Paper Scissors. Bon Voyage season 1
92) When Jimin waited over an hour for Kook to finish filming BTS Flower Boy mini drama, even though he’d finished his part. Jimin couldn’t even stay mad at him for not telling, like how fond is he?
youtube
93) The fact that Jungkook is more than comfortable speaking in banmal with Jimin. He once said in Idol Party that he prefers talking in jeondaetmal (polite language) with his hyungs but look at the amount of times he’s dropped the honorific and called Jimin by his name. uhm, let’s talk about treating the other as equals?
94) Jimin and Jungkook, the human embodiment of Piske Usagi.
95) When Jungkook’s bro drew Jungkook as Muzi and Jimin as Con, the inseparable duo on Kakao. Bro knows. 👣
96) In Kkul FM 2016, When Jungkook and Jimin nearly intertwined their fingers . Scoffs bh seemed to think it’s okay to abruptly cut off their scene. What intrigues me most is that they weren’t even looking but their hands still somehow managed to find their way around. Also other instances they hold hands. I love how Jungkook’s slightly bigger hands envelop Jimin’s smaller ones. *Jimin’s pinky tho!*
97) How they’re destined to meet. The fact that they’re both from Busan, have matching moles, Jungkook’s bro named Junghyun and Jimin’s bro named Jihyun..imagine what would’ve happened had Jimin not been the last one to enter Bangtan.
98) When Jimin said he'd be looking at the ocean with Jungkook but Jungkook straight up rejected him and chose to go on a trip with his bro instead. It was quite a strong statement but a moment later Jungkook proved it wrong by reaching out and squeezing Jimin’s hand underneath the table, kinda like a reassurance that it’s all part of a joke. He cares. He truly does.
99) During Jin’s birthday prank at MAMA, these two couldn’t keep their hands off each other. The moment they entered the bathroom, they almost shut everything out-talking to themselves, picking on the cake- until the members gave them the signal to stop w/e they’re doing. Months later Mama kindly revealed another footage, this time consisting of just them, in the bathroom, jungkook right in the middle of buttoning up his jacket, wearing nothing underneath. How was I supposed to sit still?
100) When Jungkook and Jimin take skinship to a whole new level, or simply put, the times Jikook makes us question the real intention behind their acts and excessive skinship.
101) Last but not least, Perhaps my all time favorite moment- When Jungkook was caught observing Jimin’s every move, literally had his eyes only on him.
(Mark 1:17 onward)
I super love this video bc the song chosen matched so well with the situation- like they wanted to reach out but couldn’t so they stayed put, could only observe the other from far...
youtube
and that’s it! thank you, you made it to the bottom of this post! In short, everything about jikook makes me feel content. I had thought of doing more but despite my brain literally screaming at me “Include this! You forgot this!”, I had to stick to 101. Anyway, I hope this mends your longing hearts. Have a lovely day! Thank you for reading!
Bonus because I have to:
when the members revealed on BTS KKul FM 2017 that Jungkook bought a birthday present only for Jimin. Am I your favorite hyung?
When Jungkook, the youngest in the group, called Jimin who is 2 years older than him a baby. 애기야가자 !
#this has been sitting in my draft box for nearly 4 months#i kept adding things because i love suffering#and i want you to suffer with me#anon#anonymous#answered#i didn't include any recent moments because#i had actually written down everything in july i think#and then i just added in gifs and stuff#i'm sorry for posting so late#jikook#damn jikook#kookmin#jk;compilation#part 2#101 reasons#mine:jk!analysis#mine:jk!gifs#roa#really old ask

Little Lover Pt. 5
I really hope that you like it! Enjoy!
♡ Genre: Fluff, High School!AU
♡ Pairing: Seokjin x reader
♡ Word Count: 2.9k
♡ Summary: Jungkook is suspicious of your relationship with the Professor Seokjin. Meanwhile, Seokjin highly warns you to keep your distance. You can’t stand being far from him, becoming crazy for him, to the point of stalking his house one night.~
Pt. 1 | Pt. 2 | Pt. 3 | Pt. 4 | Masterlist
Your shoulder has been feeling a bit better, you were more than pleased with what Seokjin did to make you feel better. After it had happened, it had nearly made your legs go weak and simply walking around was painful to do. He had thrusted his finger so hard into you it almost felt like you lost your virginity. It wouldn’t be too bad if you did with him though. But what really struck you was what Jungkook said to you.
Ever since Jungkook thought that you were in a relationship with somebody, he had been less talkative with you, he seemed pretty jealous. The only times he spoke with you was during times in which you had to speak with a partner. It was worst in P.E. because he literally stood across the gym from you avoiding your gaze. But you could see it in his eyes that he truly missed talking with you but he was too afraid that he might get caught by the boyfriend you never even had.
The last thing you wanted in school was for somebody to hate you. You wanted to keep this friendship because it was the only one you had and he’s been very kind to you. You decided to confront him, once and for all you’d tell him the truth, not your secret relationship with Seokjin, but the fact that you aren’t dating anybody.
Your P.E. class was held outside at the track field during a cloudy cold morning. You had your hair pinned back wearing gym shorts, a long sleeve shirt and comfy running shoes. You nearly forgot that Seokjin left bite marks all over your thighs so you quickly hide them with bandages. Your class was instructed to run a mile around the field. As you prep up by doing a couple of stretching, you take a quick peek at Jungkook.
He also wore gym shorts and shoes but he decided to wear a tank top despite the cold weather. His strong arms were doing a couple of stretches while his eyes were glued to you. He sees that you catch him spying and he quickly turns his head to the other direction.
Oh boy he really does want to see me again, I gotta tell him today. I just gotta!
You quickly make your way standing next to Jungkook on the track, he takes a small step away from you as you tried to get closer. A fence eventually stops him and he has no choice but to stand next to you. His scrunched face looked annoyed by your presence yet he kept a straight posture pretending that you weren’t there.
“K-kookie?” You tried to sound cute hoping that it’ll catch his attention. He takes a long sigh, “What it is Y/N?” The whistle blow indicates the class to start running. Jungkook jogs next to you waiting for you to answer him.
Well at least he’s hearing me out.
“Are you.. mad at me?”
He ignores your question and proceeds to sprint his way to the first lap. You held your breath and your clumsy legs begin to try to match his pace. He starts to jog again making sure you were close by.
He couldn’t hold it and starts to laugh at your clumsiness, “Ha ha, I was just playing with you Y/N. No I’m not mad at you.” You doubted his answer. “Well..” He gasps, “I just don’t want to be annoying to you, I don’t want to cut in between your relationship with whoever you’re with.” You chuckle playfully slapping his shoulder, “No no silly I’m not with anybody! What made you think that?” He begins to show a smile, feeling relieved with what you said. “Oh.. thank god!” His face beams with delight showing his bunny smile as he heavily breathed from the running.
You both jog together the remaining laps. Right after you both finish the lap your body drags you down to the floor panting as the cold air hit your face. Jungkook collapsed to the floor as well, and this makes the both of you laugh. “Gosh I’m tired Kookie..” He gasps for air, “Yeah.. let’s go get a drink.” He quickly gets up and gives you a hand taking you inside the building.
Jungkook grabs your hand and you both sneak out of class. He makes his way to a vending machine near student lockers pressing a dollar in the machine. He pushes on a button which makes the machine drop a water bottle. “Here have some water.” He throws it at you.
You were desperate for water trying to open the cap. “Gosh Y/N you’re weak lemme open it.” His firm hand pops the cap off and you quickly take it from his hands as you sip the water. You offer the water to him, he violently chugs it.
“So Y/N..” He tries to catch his breath, “So we’re still friends right?” You nod happily, “Yes Jungkook, we are best friends!” You emphasize that because that is all you want from him, just friends. He goes up to you and surprisingly gives you a tight hug. His body was warm against you, you were happy that he wasn’t mad.
“Ahem.”
You both shake in surprise and Jungkook releases you from his arms. Professor Seokjin was standing right in front of you guys holding a couple of papers. “Oh.. I’m sorry if I’m interrupting you two, carry on then. Just don’t get too close.” He took that very calmly as he walked past between the two of you, firmly bumping Jungkook’s shoulder.
“Uhh.. Well then.” Jungkook scoffs sticking his tongue out to Seokjin. “God I can’t stand Prof he’s so annoyingly strict to me.” He crosses his arms, trying to keep in his anger. “Well just try to get use to it Jungkook it’s no big deal-” You were about to touch his arms until he shouts.
“No big deal?! Huh! He’s so nice to you, you’d never understand!”
You backed up afraid that he might hit you. You haven’t him mad before and he seemed pretty scary considering how nice he usually is. He realized what you did and he drops down to his knees apologizing to you.
“Oh god Y/N I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” He wraps his arms around your legs to hug you. “Nobody is ever usually so rude to me, I try to be nice and he hates me for some reason. He likes you so much-” His eyes wander up to your own. “He likes you, too much..” He gives you a suspicious glare.
You scramble for words to say, “U-uh well.. m-maybe I’m just a g-great student in his c-class? Hehe.” You uncomfortably scratch your head hoping that convinced him.
Jungkook shakes his head, “Mm yeah I think you’re pretty smart there, I’m probably wrong on what I said.” The bell ring shocks you back into reality and you say your goodbyes before sprinting to the changing rooms. “See ya Y/N!”
He quietly strolls in the lonely hallway back to the changing room. “Just a great student huh?” He mutters to himself.
“What are you hiding Y/N?”
You quickly make your way to Professor Seokjin’s class seeing that Jungkook beat you to being there first. “Gosh Y/N you’re late.” He sarcastically pointed around the classroom with empty chairs. You roll your eyes and set your things down getting ready for class to start.
“Hey so I was wondering if you wanted to go to the park after class.” He excitingly waited for you reply. “Um okay Jungkook, I just need to do something after class.”
You planned on seeing the Professor to talk to him about what happened with you and Jungkook just to avoid any other misunderstandings.
The class had been silent for a couple of minutes quietly reading a book while you longed for the class to quickly end.
Gosh this class is so slow.
Most of the class time was spent on reading while Professor Seokjin mentioned parts of the book he enjoyed. His voice and personality was dreamy and you thought of how lucky you were having a secret relationship with him.
The bells rings and everyone starts to pack their things up heading home. Jungkook stayed alongside with you as you packed up.
“Oh Jungkook, could you wait for me outside for a sec I need to talk to Professor Seokjin.” He glares at Seokjin but nods leaving you alone.
Seokjin was in the middle of erasing his notes off the board until you tapped his shoulder. He turns around and grins at your presence. “Oh hello Y/N, do you need anything today?” He steps forward while he lightly taps you with his metal pointer. “U-um.. n-no Professor I just wanted you to know that.. J-jungkook and I are just f-friends..” Seokjin cups your chin chuckling at what you just said.
“Y/N.. don’t be naive, why would I think that you’re doing things with Jungkook if I know that you are mine?”
This gave you a mini heart attack.
What?! I’m his... oh my gosh!
You squeal trying to contain your enjoyment. He laughs, “And you know that I would never in this world cheat on my poor Y/N.. You are my little girl and I must not abandon you like that.” He leans in and pecks your lips, his musky scent made you weak in the knees.
“Now off you go Y/N, I don’t want us to be seen often. In fact, I have something planned out for both of us, in the mean time let’s keep our distance shall we?” You quickly bob your head in approval. He rests a hand on your shoulder and leads you out of his classroom. “B-bye Professor S-seokjin, have a g-good day.” You still felt a bit flustered from what he said.
Gosh what a daddy! All mine!
“I’ll see you tomorrow Y/N take care. And behave!” He flashes a kind smile before shutting the door.
As you walked out of the school entrance you couldn’t stop wondering what Seokjin’s plans are. You suddenly Jungkook patiently waiting for you in front of a shiny black car.
Omg this is Kookie’s car? Maybe that’s how he gained friends so quickly on his first day.
He noticed how your jaw dropped as you admired his car. He chuckled resting a palm on the hood, “Yep this is my baby. You’re lucky today Y/N because I’ve never actually had a girl inside..”
Like a gentleman, he generously opens the car door letting you inside. Being inside felt fresh with a bit of pine tree odor. He slumped down his seat looking at the steering wheel, he seemed a little nervous. “Um.. Kookie?” You snap your fingers in front of his face. He jumps looking at you with embarrassment, “Oh I’m s-sorry Y/N I m-must have spaced out.”
He begins to turn the car on and a familiar song blasts out of the speakers, “Fuck fuck fuck..” Jungkook nervously covers a speaker as he turns the music all the way down. “Kookie is that, IU?” You giggled.
He was a bit flustered but shakes his head in approval. “Uh.. let’s go now.” He clenches tightly on the steering wheel leaving the campus and into the street.
Jungkook’s eyes were fixated on the road, he tried keeping a relaxed posture but you noticed small droplet of sweat falling down his forehead.
He drives past a couple of houses and into a park entrance. He parks at the corner of the park resting as he turned the car off. ”Kookie, are you feeling okay?” He seemed a bit timid the whole way there.
He gets out of the car and goes around to open your door. He takes your hand and swiftly walks up to a bench in front of the parks’ large pond. You have a feeling that he urgently wants to tell you something.
You both take a seat on the cold bench. It was sunny but the air around was chilly. Jungkook cleared his throat, “Y/N.. I w-wanted to ask you something..” He rests his palms on your hands breathing in slowly,
“C-could you.... w-will you go o-out with me?”
You were speechless.
You had a feeling that he liked you, the fact that he was very friendly with you and how he would have an excuse to touch you by playfully hitting you. And it was strange that he was so friendly with you, nobody has ever spoken a word with you afraid that you would cry out of shyness.
Seokjin’s words suddenly rewind in your head.
..I know that you are mine..
..You are my little girl..
You start to think, I love Seokjin... He loves me... I don’t want to break our bond, I can’t Jungkook..
You sigh letting go of his grip, “Jungkook.. I-I don’t like you t-that way, I just w-want to be your f-friend.”
His face said it all, he was heartbroken, devastated by your words. Tears began to form near his eyes but he quickly sucked it up and held his breath. “O-okay Y/N we can be f-friends. I don’t m-mind if we d-don’t date, but I’m actually glad that w-we’re friends.” He calms down and smiles as if nothing had happened.
The awkward tension between the both of you turned into a regular conversation about school and interests. You were happy to be his friend, and having him by your side made you feel comfortable.
Jungkook peers at his watch surprised by the time, “Gosh it’s getting late Y/N you want me to drive you home?” You nod and he goes to the car and unlocks it. Jungkook had bought you an ice cream cone from a nearby ice cream truck and you carefully hold onto it making sure you don’t drop any in his car.
While driving, he was a lot more confident with you and began to babble about random things as you try to lick your ice cream cone. “Y/N it’s okay if you drop any, I don’t really care if you make a mess.”
You look out the windows as he talked non-stop and you notice someone familiar at a house.
There was a tall man standing by their door getting ready to unlock it, he accidentally drops his keys and bends down to retrieve them. Right as he gets back up, he turns his head directly to you.
Is that Professor Seokjin?
The last thing you saw was his suspicious glare.
It was the weekend and you are overly excited to know where he lives. You couldn’t help but to imagine yourself in the house being his wife and raising his children. Seokjin had asked you, pleaded you to keep your distance from him for a while. But when he saw you he calmly waved.
Maybe he thought it was just a coincidence that I passed by? I hope he didn’t see Jungkook.
You diary was almost full of specific details of the two adventures with Seokjin, the blowjob and him eating you out. You craved for more, you needed him more. You knew that this definitely betrayed all morals between a teacher and a student, you knew that it was wrong to be with someone older than you. But at this point, you didn’t care. You were 18 anyway.. and still young!
He was your love, your world.
Now that you know where he lives, you planned to sneak out and bike your way to it. It wasn’t far, your parents wouldn’t know and it was dark outside, nobody would be able to see your face.
It was 9 pm, your usual bedtime. Your parents had already tucked themselves to sleep turning off all the lights.
You kiss the picture of Seokjin for luck. “Good luck me..”
You waited until one of them begun to snore and you tiptoe out of your room. You had worn dark clothing so you could blend with the darkness. You had your purse with you carrying your phone, binoculars and a flashlight.
You paused at every small sound hoping you don’t wake your parents and proceeded to quietly walk to the door.
Right as you make it outside, you let out a long sigh. This was something that made you feel like a rebel, you were so goody two shoes beforehand. You giggle, “Oh my gosh, I did it!” You excitedly squirm for a moment then proceed to keep calm and quiet.
You grab your bike that was beside the garage door and slowly petal into the night.
You turn on your flashlight and look for the street that Jungkook had driven by. It was the perfect night, no cars in sight and you freely biked in the middle of the street. You turn and pass by the familiar trees that were across the houses. You turn off the flashlight and get off of your bike.
You examine each house as you walked by with your bike and suddenly spot Seokjin’s body move inside his house.
There he is..
You quickly take your bike and hide behind the trees sinking into the bushes. You whip out your binoculars and begin to peer into his home. The only lights that were on was in the second floor room. The sudden movement of his body made you shiver. He was getting ready for bed. Right as he was about to remove his shirt, you quickly get your phone and snap a picture.
The flash was on.
“No no no!” You throw your phone down and grab your binoculars again. Seokjin’s eyes looked straight ahead to your direction. He squinted trying to figure out what was there and right as he saw the glare of the binocular lens, his eyes widened and his hand reached for the lamp.
The lights turned off.
I personally didn’t think that I would put much thought into writing this, it’s almost like writing a drama. I hope this got you on the edge of your seat! Stay tuned for the next part!

Zootopia: Under the Red Hood
So what happens when I see Batman: Under the red hood, Zootopia and read fic I was not expecting to be so good? The answer is this, please enjoy!
It was a dark and rainy night. The type of night that anyone would just want stay home. Through the road, a sole SUV from the ZPD was making his way to a destination that only one of the two mammals that were inside the police vehicle knew. The other one wasn’t particularly excited to arrive to it.
One of the mammals inside the vehicle was none other than Nicholas Piberius Wilde, first fox officer on the force, one of the two best officers in the ZPD, important key to solve the “Missing Mammals case” and the “Night Howlers case”, his gaze fixed on the window, watching the rain silently while he was silently laid in the backseat of the vehicle, his police uniform covered in blood, the badge that he proudly carried in his chest for 2 years by now was nowhere to be seen, his right eye swollen and finally, to put the cherry on the top of turd this day end up, a pair of cuffs restraining his paws and a collar strapped on his neck, in other words: Nick was looking like shit, which was fine to him, because that’s exactly how he was feeling.
“I can’t believe it Wilde” Wolford, an officer which Nick had worked with before to the point where they became good friends, was currently looking hurt, anger but most of all: betrayed “the ZPD and the city, all of us decided to trust you and yet, you chose to spit on that trust, you filthy good-for-nothing fox” Wolford spat with rage.
Nick moved his gaze from the window to Wolford, and scoffed “Unsurprisingly howlie, that’s not the worst I’ve been called for, but hey! Nice try though” Nick answered with a grin, even he didn’t want to, he won’t let them see, that they got to him, his mask hiding all the pain, all the hopelessness, all the events of this day behind an infuriating grin.
Wolford growled at the fox “Shut up, don’t talk to me as if we’re friends! I knew you have a not-so-bright past, but what we found at that storage” Wolford took a deep breath ”It was sickening and utterly disgusting, but who would have thought that the first fox officer in the ZPD was a damned heartless murderer”.
Nick’s mask almost fell at the comment of the wolf. Yeah, he also remembered. The storage. The smell of blood lingering in the air. The lifeless corpses of 21 mammals. It was something that must have come out from a horror movie, and that wasn’t even the tip of the iceberg. When Nick arrived at the scene of the crime, shortly after other officers arrived too, well, take a fox, add a scene of the crime, add 21 dead bodies and finally the police, the sum of that is the shitty mess Nick is involved.
Funny thing is, no matter how many times Nick pleaded that he was innocent, no one listened to him, despite the years working for the ZPD, arresting thieves, helping in the biggest conspiracy that could have divided Zootopia in prey and predator, the fact the ZPD -his so called “brothers in blue”- didn’t trust him nor were there for him when he need them, at the end of the day it was the word of a criminal in a police’s disguise against the word of the most famous police officer in the force and that black stripped bastard. Nick had to suppress the growl that rumbled in his throat. He got in his hustling character again, grin in check and smartass tone in place.
“Up to this point, will it matter if I said again how I’m innocent . . . .?” Nick stated, Wolford just scoffed at the fox, having plenty of his lies “How about I say I’m sorry, how about an apologizing howl?” as Nick began to make a slight the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. Wolford turned to face him, his face contorted to one of a savage mammal, snarling furiously. Nick shrunk in the backseat, the fur on his neck bristled and his tail wrapped itself between his legs.
“Shut your goddamn mouth fox!” Wolford yelled to the fox “If you don’t, I will muzzle you back, so go on and try me Wilde” the wolf sneered, watching over the fox.
Panic showed itself in Nick’s face. The very thought of wearing the muzzle again was unbearable. His breathing increased. His heart began pumping faster. The color of the collar glowed a dangerous orange and just before he could hyperventilate . . . .
BZZZZT!
Nick grabbed the collar as it shocked him, trying to slow down his heart rate, he took deep breaths until the light in the collar turned a bright green. Nick grunted in pain, panting slightly he look up to see Wolford looking him back.
“Was it painful Wilde?” Wolford asked rhetorically “Now you can feel a small part of the pain all those families are going to feel when they know their loved ones are never going to return to their side”.
Nick has always had the ability to tell what others mammals are thinking, he knew the body language, the movement of the face, an ability from his hustling days that even as a cop came in handy. However Nick didn’t need any of that to see the expression the wolf was giving him and it pained him.
Disappointment. Betray. Pain. And worst of all: distrust.
“Thanks God officer Hopps and agent Savage stopped you” Wolford said solemnly “The ZPD doesn’t need more blood on its paw”.
Nick let a low growl “Yeah, thanks God for officer Hopps and agent Jack-ass for stopping the big bad fox” Nick closed his eyes and sighed sadly “Wolford, come on man, Do you really believe I did it? I have worked for the ZPD for 2 years, I have helped a lot of mammals and I loved every second of it, you know me, do you really think I’m a murder” Nick asked with and sorrowful expression.
Wolford hear Nick, he heard the sincerity in his words, but the evidence and facts told otherwise, so as much as he wanted to believe it, it was evidence and the words of the best officer in the force and the best agent of the ZBI against his, why would them lie?
“I want to believe you Wilde, I really want to, but both Savage and Hopps saw you with their own eyes” Wolford paused for a moment sighed sadly “I read you your Miranda rights Wilde, please don’t make this more complicated”
Nick kept quiet, there wasn’t any more left to say, in retrospect what was he expecting from society, the same one that deemed him as nothing more than a fox, unable to be trustworthy. No matter how much he pleaded, no one believed him, not even his partner and best friend.
‘Funny’ Nick thought ‘you only need one bunny to give you a new life; and another one to screw it’.
Nick let out a humorless laugh, so short lived that he his mind began to wander in places it shouldn’t go. Reliving his memories from the past few months. In that moment Nick fell victim of the weariness, his eyelids were growing heavy, keeping his eyes open was becoming a huge deal, so Nick laid his head in the backseat of the vehicle and drift away to sleep. In his last moments of consciousness a wander thought popped in his mind.
‘Maybe this is a dream, a REALLY bad dream and when I wake up everything would be fine’.
Another more cynical one also popped.
‘Or maybe you’ve been dreaming all this time and now you’re waking to face your reality’.
And with that Nick fell asleep.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a bright sunny day in the city of Zootopia, the city was bursting with life. All kind of mammals were walking on the street to reach for their jobs, or going to find someone and so. The morning promised this day would be an eventful one.
One fox was making his way to the ZPD building, his pace was slow, a yawn escaping his muzzle, and he looked like he was on autopilot. Most of his self was still in bed sleeping while the other one told him that it was time to scram to work.
That and the insufferable ringing of his best friend’s tone in the tone and the message that she left threatening him with going to his apartment and kick his butt to work…
…Again.
Finally arriving at his destination, he opened the door and was greeted by a sight he would never get tired of.
The smile of the ZPD’s first rabbit officer and partner in crime: Judy Hopps. He was talking animatedly with Clawhauser about God knows what, knowing the cheetah some new gossip about the ‘angel with horns’ as the bubbly cheetah always referred Gazelle as. He couldn’t help but wonder how someone can look that happy so early in the morning while he would gladly stay in bed for the rest of the day. But Judy was one in a kind, her drive to make the world a better place, her cheerful personality and the kindness that lies in her heart.
How does such big heart such as hers fit in such a tiny rabbit? He wouldn’t know.
Said rabbit turned her head to the direction where said fox was coming and her face automatically lit up.
“Good Morning Nick!” Judy greeted “Ready to make the world a better place?” the doe extended her fist.
“Coffee first, world, make, better, later” Nick deadpanned.
The rabbit gave the fox a smug grin “why Good morning Judy, Yes I’m ready, how can you be so grumpy in the morning Slick?” Judy shook his head while still grinning and reached out a coffee to the fox.
Nick only grunted in response and moved his paw to grab his much needed source of caffeine only for the bunny to hold back the cup of coffee.
“Ah ah Slick” Judy teased while shaking her finger “say: Judy, Would you please give this dumb fox his coffee?”
If Nick was in the mood of teasing and playing he would be proud of the smug grin Judy was showing, definitely a hustler grin; since this wasn’t the case, Nick muttered something under his breath, Judy could hear something among the lines of ‘stubborn bunny’.
Without his much needed coffee his witty remarks arsenal was off.
“Judy, would you please give this dumb fox his coffee” he could still muster a sad-puppy eyes look “pretty please”.
Judy looked at Nick with a warm smile “Alright Nick, you’ve earned it”.
Nick took his coffee and sip it, letting the coffee do his work his usual grin returned to his muzzle.
“Thanks Carrots” Nick gratified “What would I do without you?”
Just when Judy was about to answer Nick put a finger in her lips to hush her.
“That was rhetorical fluff” Nick interrupted “I don’t want to know the answer, because I’m planning to be a constant in your life”.
Judy’s ears turned red and fell so he couldn’t see the blush.
For a moment they stood there looking to each other’s eyes. Green lost in amethyst; amethyst trapped in green…
And then their moment was broken by a squealing cheetah.
“OH EM GOODNESS THAT IS SO CUTE!” Ben gushed.
After hearing the C-word Judy sent the bubbly cheetah a stern look while Nick thanked God for his red fur or else everyone in the precinct would catch a glimpse of the blush he was having.
“Ben…” Judy said disapprovingly.
Ben knew that tone, it was the same tone she used when he used the word cute or something among the lines.
“I’m sorry Judy” Ben apologized “But it’s just that the two make such an adorable couple!”
Judy kept staring at the cheetah until the latter shrunk in his seat, but Judy couldn’t hold it against Clawhauser. He was just being…him.
“It’s okay Ben” she sighed “BUT, you need to pay more attention, I won’t always let it slip, understood?” the cheetah nodded meekly and Judy once again smiled at her friend “Good”.
Nick couldn’t help but chuckle, even she was the tiniest officer in the force, every mammal in Precinct One knew that you shouldn’t mess with Judy Hopps.
“Come on Nick, we are going to get late to roll call” Judy yanked Nick by his tie to the bullpen.
“See you later spots” Nick shoot Clawhauser a lazy two fingers salute.
Judy and Nick arrived to the bullpen, Bogo hasn’t arrived yet, so the room was filled with laughter, shouts, mammals talking lively and some others arm wrestling.
“I hope the chief has something special for us” Judy exclaimed excitedly.
“What, craving for some parking duty action?” Nick sent her a smug grin. Judy glared her partner for bringing her least favorite duty in the line of work.
“Har har Nick, by now you have been in parking duty more times than me” Judy smirked “In fact, you totally owned the vest and the joke mobile has already your name in it”.
“Not my fault that chief Buffalo Butt wasn’t born with a sense of humor or that the word ‘prank’ is foreign to him” Nick shrugged nonchalantly.
Judy tried to frown at Nick, but the smile that crept in her muzzle gave her away, in the end she just laughed at the fox antics.
As if summoning, the water buffalo entered the room, fist banging onto the tables until Chief Bogo silenced them and handed everyone their assignments.
“Hopps, Wilde. I want both of you in my office now” Chief Bogo said with his usual authoritative gruff voice.
They exchanged nervous glances before facing his boss and give him a nod.
The water buffalo just grunted in response and left the bullpen.
Judy glared at Nick “What did you this time Nick?”
Nick put a paw in his chest feigning being hurt “Why Carrots, your accusations hurt me”
Judy rolled her eyes “Well how about I’m not the one who prank him, antagonize him and call him Buffalo Butt” now it was Judy smirking.
Nick frowned “Well, what if he called us because you ticketed another ZPD vehicle again?” smug grin in place.
Judy’s ears turned red and fell to her back “That was a one-time thing!” Nick raised a brow “Ok! Fine! It has happened more than one time, but not even the law is above the law!” Judy pouted.
Nick couldn’t bare how adorable she looked when she pout, the way her cheeks inflated and her foot thumped the floor was just too cute, not that he was going to say that aloud ever, Nick appreciated his life after all.
“Sure thing” Nick shrugged “Well let’s not make the chief wait, so hop onto it Hopps, maybe a raise, a medal or any other award is waiting for us, you know for being the best in what we do”
“You mean you slacking off while I’m doing the best in what I do” Judy grinned.
“Well look at you, don’t know what is bigger, your drive to help others, your ears, or your ego” Nick snarked.
Judy punched Nick in the arm, but the slight smile was making any attempt to look stern useless.
Judy knocked the chief’s door and instantly a gruff voice boomed inside “Come in.”
“Sit down” Bogo said in his monotone voice, once sit the police chief began “I got a special assignment to both of you”.
If Judy could muster an even bigger smile, it would be so bright it could have lighted all the precinct during a blackout. Nick remained silent so the water buffalo could continue, but was alternating his sight between his boss and the reactions her partner was giving. The smile in her face, her nose twitching with excitement, her eyes shining with joy, so beautiful he could get lost in them.
‘All right Slick, now it’s not the time to ogle your partner’.
“During the past few months there had been numeral cases of missing mammals, in total 21 cases” Bogo briefed them “There isn’t any pattern. Mammals both predator and prey were abducted, I put my better detectives in finding them, but whoever is behind this is very meticulous, in all the last places each one of them were seen wasn’t a single clue of who did it”.
Nick and Judy’s full attention was now on the words Bogo was saying.
“2 days ago a pair of detectives found 2 of the missing mammals””
Judy sighed in relief, however from t
And he didn’t like it, and neither will Judy.
“They were found dead” Bogo stated solemnly.
Judy’s ears fell to her back, her eyes lost the brightness just a second ago were shining.
Nick looked this and placed a comforting paw in her back, and gave her a reassuring smile, a real smile. Judy smiled back and her face was only determination now, she had entered n cop mode.
“I’m telling you this because you have the biggest crime-catch rate in the whole precinct” Bogo avowed “You two are my best officers now, so I’ll be giving you permission to part of this case”. Nick couldn’t help but feel proud, all his life he only things that made others be ashamed of him, but now he was doing what was right for once in his life and he wouldn’t change any of it.
“Don’t worry chief, we won’t let you down” Judy stated boldly and hopped off the chair to get the file.
“I didn’t say you were dismissed officer Hopps” Bogo grunted. Judy who had a paw in the doorknob stopped like a deer in headlights, awkwardly returning to the chair which Nick never left, there he was grinning at her.
“Eager bunny” Nick whispered. Ears red from embarrassment she punched the tod in the arm lightly.
“Sorry chief, continue please” Judy said without looking at the buffalo.
The chief exhaled air through his nose. “Anyway, this case apparently became of interest to the city hall, so you are going to be working under the supervision of an agent of the ZBI, and let me stop you right there Hopps” the chief commanded as the bunny officer was about to interrupt “you aren’t trained as detectives, even if you are outstanding officers it would be irresponsible for me to put you in this case without supervision”.
“So when you say you don’t care you’re just bluffing, you do care chief” Nick smiled smugly.
Bogo sighed “Yes Wilde, I DO care about my officers, even about you”. Nick faked hurt by putting a paw over his heart.
Both of the officers felt some sort of respect towards the buffalo, even if Judy was the only one showing it.
“Let’s not prolong this meeting, from now until the case is cracked, you will be under the supervision of special agent, Jack Savage. Clawhauser will give you the file you are going to be working with. Dismissed”.
Nick amusedly thought of what kind of mammal this ‘Savage’ was, by his name he imagined a hardened-looking wolf, or jaguar, or a lion. He didn’t even register the thrilled look on her partner’s face.
“Carrots, by your smile and the fact that you are endangering the whole precinct by beginning an earthquake with your foot thumping” Nick said dismissively earning a blush from the doe which led to a punch in the arm “I suspect you know this guy”.
“What?” Judy gasped “Mr. I-know-everyone doesn’t know Jack Savage”
“Well judging by his name I believe he’s a stripper, but I hardly doubt that so, no” Nick smirked.
Judy snorted “Well, I do and don’t know him” earning a puzzled look from his fox partner she continued “back when I was in the academy, the instructors at the time talk about how a single agent solved many cases, stopped many drug dealers and even has prevented many crisis to fall on Zootopia”.
“So what, we do that on daily basis and I don’t get such apprises or Bogo to roll the red carpet when we arrived at the station”.
Judy rolled her eyes “true, but I would like to know how is he, I mean no one is really that praised in the police if they aren’t chief or something like that, so I guess I’m excited because of that”.
“Well, just don’t be disappointed if he isn’t as high and mighty as your old academy rumors make him look like” Nick commented.
“Not promising” Judy sing-sang. “Hey Clawhauser, can you give us our file?”
“Sure thing Judy” Ben smiled broadly “oh, you guys need to see this” Ben showed them some news about Gazelle’s next concert and time went by idling chat. No one noticed the rabbit with black stripes in a tux that entered.
“Excuse me, are you officer Judy Hopps” the stranger questioned in a smooth voice.
Judy’s mind went blank, here in front of her stood the most handsome buck she had ever seen. He was tall for bunny standards, sharply dressed in a black tux with a white shirt and a dark blue tie; he looked well trained, but his more enticing features were his striking blue eyes, she could get lost in that sea of blue and got lost in them because she wanted to answer, but her mouth had other plans “I-I um…” Judy uttered.
“Carrots if you could stop drooling and give this gentlemammal an answer, that would be great you know” Nick whispered in her ear.
That snapped Judy from his stupor, ears perked up, hands on her hips “Yes, I am officer Judy Hopps and this is my partner officer Nick Wilde and who might you be sir?” At the mentioned of his name Nick tilted his head.
“Savage, agent Jack Savage”
Nick and Judy were speechless, Judy because she had never seen a rabbit like Jack before, Nick because a rabbit with such a last name was quite abnormal, and he wasn’t even a predator. He imagined an intimidating looking predator, not a bunny of all things.
”we are going to be working together, I hope we could get along” Jack said in a charming voice.
“I know we will” expressed Judy happily.
Nick however couldn’t help but feeling uneasy around the rabbit, every time he said ‘we’ he never made contact visual with Judy and there was something…off about this rabbit, something he quite couldn’t pinpoint. Nick always felt proud for his ability at reading people, it was one of the many useful tools his life as a con artist left him and his instinct told him something about this Savage was wrong.
The fact that her partner was ogling him wasn’t helping either…
“Say, did you have breakfast?” Jack questioned. Judy shook her head “Would you like to come with me? You are also invited to come Officer Wilde, so we could all talk about how we are going to work and get to know each other better”.
“Okay, that would be great agent Savage” Judy expressed effusively.
“Excellent, let me go for my car, I know a place where we could find delicious food”
Watching Jack heading out of the police Judy faced Nick “You know something, I’m not disappointed, not even close to it” Judy said with a dreamy look on her face and followed Jack next.
Nick frowned at that. He didn’t like this. ‘At least he is only going to be with us until we solved this case’ Nick thought.
“Looks like someone has competition” Ben was smirking at his tod friend “You better up your game Nick”.
Nick just rolled his eyes and gave Clawhauser his usual confident smirk “As if spots, see you later” and went to find Judy and Jack.
“You coming or what Slick?” Judy asked.
Nick smiled and continue walking until his feet didn’t move. Nick struggled to move them, but everything was fruitless, slowly the floor under his feet began melting turning into some black abyss which was slowly dragging him down.
“Spots, a little help big guy?” Nick gulped, feeling panic rising, but when he looked behind him Clawhauser was gone, the cheetah, the lobby, everything fade. Some ominous darkness was increasing and the abyss that was engulfing him began to drag him down faster.
Panicked now “Carrots, Carrots help me!”
Judy didn’t turn. She kept walking straight to Jack; completely ignoring the pleads of his best friend.
“JUDY! Please don’t leave me! JUDY!” Nick begged desperately, now his right paw and his head only visible.
The last thing he could see before being completely engulfed was the smirk of a black stripped rabbit…
Numbness. Darkness. He felt like everything and yet anything was surrounding him.
‘I should have trusted my instincts, I shouldn’t let them see that they got to me’ nick thought glumly.
‘Yeah, you should and shouldn’t’
‘Is it too late to have my life back?’
‘Yes…but not too late to fix it, also, you might want to wake up’
‘Why should I?’
‘Seems the wiser choice’
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BZZT!
Nick awoke when an intense pain ran through his body. The collar attached to his neck blinking in a dangerously red color.
‘Best. Alarm clock. Ever.’
Nick looked through the window to get a hold of his surroundings, wherever Wolford was taking him, he sure was taking his sweet…
‘Wait a second’
After gathering his surroundings Nick knew where they were going and dread filled him.
‘Shit, shit, shit, I should have known!’
Nick knew this place, he had been here before during the missing mammals’ case. He didn’t like being then and the feeling was the same.
The Cliffside Asylum. The place where former mayor Lionheart kept the savage mammals in the dark, now turned into a prison of maximum security. Mob bosses, drug dealers, all kind of dangerous criminals and very angry ewe, some of them were even there thanks to Nick.
He was going to be very popular the moment one paw was set in there and that popularity will cost him…
A lot…
‘No, no, no I must find the way out of this!’
Nick unsheathed his claws and quietly began picking the pawcuffs, aside from his ability of reading people and know Zootopia as the back of his paw, picking locks was a really useful, though in these 2 years he worked in the force, the opportunity of using it never showed.
With a click Nick freed his paws, but remained silent in case Wolford heard it. Nick breathe in relieve knowing it wasn’t the case. Nick’s gears started to run, thinking of a plan to escape, being inside a cell and then flushed in a toilet to freedom idea was out of question, so his best plan was make the jump from the cliff and hope that Karma was on his side.
The vehicle was slowing signaling that it reached its destination. Nick curled in to a ball so his back was facing Wolford and put the pawcuffs back but now without securing them.
We’re here” there was a slight hint of sadness in the wolf’s eyes. “Come on”.
Nick was escorted by Wolford and another wolf that came out of the building.
“You are doing a huge mistake, I’m not guilty” Nick said
“I wished I could believe you” Wolford sighed “I hope you find redemption”.
“Not going to find it out” Nick muttered.
Nick released himself and with incredible speed took Wolford tranq gun and shoot the other wolf with it and with the momentum kicked Wolford in his left shin making him lose balance and delivered a powerful uppercut that knocked him out.
Blood pumping. Adrenaline rushing. The shock collar blinking a warning yellow. Nick breathed in, and dashed to the…
A bullet flied past him grazing his shoulder slightly, Nick grunted until he heard a shout.
“Nicholas Wilde, stop in the name of law or you won’t be lucky next time” and an alarm started to sound.
‘Guns, of course they have guns, of course they would geared up with guns the sentinels of a reclusive of psychos’.
In a matter of seconds Nick was facing officers in front of him while his back was pointing his ticket to freedom.
“Resisting an arrest, assaulting two officers and held possession of the ZPD property. If you keep making the list larger, you will just make it worse for you, so I’m not going to repeat it: paws in the air”.
Nick was beginning to sweat as his rate of escape diminished. He slowly raised his paws, but noticed something that might help him. All officers in front of him were wolves except for two, one a tiger, the other a bear.
‘Time to pull one last hustle’
“All right, just let me said one more thing” Nick hold his paws up and then he howled.
All the wolves’ ears straight up and howled too, the bear and the tiger winced and cover their ears, without thinking once Nick sped to the cliff as his life depended on it. The bear was the first to react and chased Nick but soon realized he was not going to catch him, bears have their strength in raw force, not speed, so he drew his tranq gun and aimed it to the fox.
Nick’s mind was in overdrive, he run as fast as he had never run before, and once in the he was inches from the cliff he jumped. It was like the world was moving in slow motion. He could feel his fast heartbeat, the collar attached to his neck bleeping in a dangerous orange and a sting behind his neck.
His vision turning blurry, his eyes closing, his breath slowing.
The fall felt like an eternity. Memories relieved during it.
The hustling years, the police academy, his time with Judy, the fun, the pain, the heartbreak, the happiness all of it.
Nick mustered a weak smile.
‘Looks like Carrots was right all along, I really am a dumb fox’
Nick’s body hit the water, and suddenly the world turned black.

Us, Pt. 2 (Mike)
"Cool." They chuckled a little, their eyes twinkling, a slight blush dusting their cheeks. The gravity of what they were about to do was starting to trickle through their mind, and though they could be as cheeky as they wanted about it in theory, the fact that it was really going to happen was a touch nerve wracking. "I'm gonna go run it, then." Getting up, they sauntered into the bathroom, looking around. It was roomy, with a handsome tile floor, a commode, sink, and mirror, and, acting as a grand centerpiece, the huge sunken tub with an extended ledge, perhaps to set shampoos and towels and such on. There was a window behind it, perhaps to enjoy the park view below while you soaked, confident that the room was far too high up for anyone to look in- except, Mike thought with a snicker, maybe some pervert in a helicopter. Turning the taps, Mike filled the tub up, occasionally fiddling with the hot or cold water to get it just right- hot enough to un-knot the well used muscles of a professional athlete, but not so much so as to cook them both like a couple of dumb lobsters.
"Okay. I think that's good…"
John, barefooted, walked into the room with his arms rigidly at his side. The steam was rising up from the water. With trepidation, he half-sat, half stood on the edge of the tub. He seemed, in Mike's view, to be just as nervous about this as they were.
"Okay." "This is fine. I mean… heh. This is good. This is absolutely peachy fuckin' keen." They laughed a little, though in their opinion it came out weird, their fingers fidgeting with each other like a couple of battling birds in midair. This was fine. He said he'd like to, and they wanted to, so what was the holdup? Why are you so nervous about this? Breathe in, breathe out. A little coy grin formed on their face as an idea struck them, though their heart bounced wildly around in their ribcage. "Hey. Are you nervous?" Their nerves were glaringly obvious.
John looked up at them. His fists were balled up, knuckles white. His sentences were more abrupt than usual. Perhaps mimicking his heartbeat.
"Yes. I'm not sure how I can make this make sense. But this is new. I don't think in the obvious sense. Hard to explain. And it's me. Fighting against that. Because I trust you." "I trust you too. And I'm nervous as shit anyway." That tittering laugh again, breaking into a warmer one when they realized how goofy it sounded. Breathing in, they reached out, giving his hands a reassuring squeeze, her thumbs tracing over his knuckles. "I got an idea. Why don't we start like this. Tell me if this is okay." Letting go of John's hands, she reaches out, taking hold of the bottom hem of his t-shirt instead, lifting up slowly, their intentions clear. They glanced up at his face, expression inquisitive, as if looking for any unsaid yeas or nays. John nodded softly. He raised his arms up to assist. The grey t-shirt was discarded to the side. They took a moment to appreciate, though they tried not to obviously ogle. He really was handsome, even the injury he'd sustained a while back healed over, leaving only a scar behind to show it was there. Not that it was ugly, in Mike's opinion. Scars, their physical therapist had told them once upon a time, were signs that you survived something. She (what had her name been? Lila? Lisa? Lilly? Something like that) had been trying to make Mike feel better about their body after it'd sustained so much damage. It didn't help as much as it should have. Perhaps John's remark that in the ring, things were different applied in a way to them as well- they didn't care about the state of their body then. Now, it just added another layer to their nerves. Still, they leaned forward a little, the better to allow him to remove their shirt as they'd just removed his. First, John reached up above her brow and clasped the brim of their hat and lifted it up, releasing their short fiery hair into view. They gave a little inward breath at this- the hat was an extra layer of security, something to hide behind. Letting him remove it was a level of trust and intimacy that most wouldn't understand. Then, John gave a stifling little laugh as he removed their shirt and dropped it on top of his. The hat on top of them both.
"Only laughing because you've seen me in spandex. Puts this in perspective." They chuckled a bit in turn, blushing a little further. He did have a point. She wrestled in jeans, but a lot of what her cohorts worked in left… various amounts of little to the imagination. "Don't need to explain yourself. I like your laugh. Like, a lot. It's really… sweet." As the shirt is pulled away, it reveals something other than brutally scarred up skin- an emerald satin bra with a subtle black lace trim, certainly fancier and more feminine than any other bit of off the rack cotton Fruit of the Loom lingerie they owned. Their blush grew deeper, the light spray of freckles over their nose and slightly dotting their shoulders standing out in the room's ambient light.
"I like it."
His hands raised back up from his side and hovered just over their shoulders. They leaned into his touch, relishing in the way his warm hands felt on her bare, freckled skin.
"Looks very nice." "T-thanks…" Their shy smile grew a little wider. They had a feeling they would. Not only was green a very flattering color, complimenting their hair nicely, Mike also was well aware that it was John's favorite. Okay. That was the relatively easy part. Taking another couple steadying breaths, Mike slowly reached forward, fingertips grazing the button of her partner's jeans, again glancing up for the go-ahead. John inhaled sharply. If only if they had some insight as that indicated to them to bluntly stop.
But his statement was clear. And Mike looked up at a slight but approving nod.
"I've taken them off in front of you before if I recall correctly. Always right before our matches."
That insight may be in plain view has John seemed to be verbalizing his thoughts out loud. This was, of course, a wildly different scenario but it was a reassuring statement. This was fine. Mike willed their fingers to stop trembling and nimbly undid the button, pulling the zipper down slowly at first, one or two teeth at a time, either out of teasing or trepidation before tugging it down the rest of the way at a somewhat more expedient pace. Releasing the zipper pull, they then rest their hands on his hips, thumbs hooking between the waistline of his jeans and the waistband of his underwear before tugging them downward as well. The rose tint on their cheeks was practically luminescent.
He closed his eyes and stepped out of them. He muttered under his breath. Just loud enough for them to hear. Even though it was the two.
"I'm okay. You okay?"
"I'm okay. Everything is gonna be okay." It was practically a mantra. Whenever things got particularly tough, or nerve wracking, or difficult, there was always a verbal mutual assurance of this sort. They were okay, and everything was going to be as well. They had each other. How could it not be? Hands still shaking a little, they reached behind their back and, perhaps as something of an equalizer, undid the emerald bra. Or tried to. They fumbled with it a little, chuckling at their own nervous butterfingers before taking a breath and undoing the catch at the back, slipping it off and dropping it onto the growing pile of clothes. Their heart was pounding so hard that Mike could swear John could hear it, or maybe even see it, bounding a foot out of their chest like a besotted Bugs Bunny. Reaching back, they prop the heels of their palms on the sink behind them, allowing easy access to their own pair of button fly Luckys. They recalled, with a bit of a giggle, that the inside of said fly had an embroidered ribbon reading 'LUCKY YOU'. John reached forward, mimicking Mike's own actions. His hands seemed to be traveling through molasses until his partner's hands steadied them. Their panties matched the bra, the same green satin with the black lace ringing the waistband, and they slipped off easily. So there they were. There was no small amount of blushing and, while Mike was still trying to have some tact and not be a slobbering ogler, they couldn't help but trace their gaze over him from head to toe. He really was statuesque, as physically perfect (despite John's own earlier insistence that such a thing as perfection was impossible) a person as Mike had ever laid eyes on in this manner. Even the scar only accentuated his beauty, made him more real. Such things could be overdone, though- Mike's own body, in their opinion, looked as if someone'd once gone after them with a weedwacker. Some from a good fight, some old enough to be souvenirs from Action Park, and most of them… ...most of them they wished they didn't have. Almost unconsciously, they grip their biceps, looking down and away shyly. John looked past them, into the mirror, observing the pairs' reflection. Then he reached out and placed his hands over each of theirs. Uncovering their modesty. There was nowhere to hide at this point. He tried to get their focus back.
"I like how we look. How you look."
His phrasing was stilted and awkward. Meant to be assuring.
"A warrior's body. I've always admired you for it. Just didn't want to be, didn't want to say something wrong."
It did help. They looked up, still blushing but somewhat less self conscious. "Thanks. You're… beautiful. Really… really fucking beautiful. And I've kind of always thought so too I just didn't really have an opportune moment to say it and… yeah. Goddamn. You could tell me you're actually an angel and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised."
"Never really thought about myself much. People tend to ignore me. But that's alright."
The two stood side by side, hands held. Reflecting their humanity into the large mirror across from them. Two people discarded many times over, forgotten about. But not by each other. An unspoken bond, forged from a chance meeting and a business association with two people who might as well spoken two different languages. Now on the same wavelength.
"Because this is us."
"Yes. Yes it is." They squeezed his hand, giving their reflection a look over with a smile. They really did make a very handsome couple. If they'd been overlooked or cast aside, well… maybe that's because this was supposed to happen. Mike only wished it had sooner and saved them both a lot of grief. That was alright though. They were here now. "Hey. Water's probably gonna get cold if we wait much longer." He nodded with a smile, and they both stepped in, the rest of the night ahead of them, warm and pleasant as the water they sunk into.
