How normal is it for a pistol to have a knife attached to it that you can stab people with? Asking because I've found a few bladed pistols while playing Borderlands 3 and now I'm curious

What bayonets on handguns are useful for: being counterweights for recoil.

What bayonets on handguns are NOT useful for: actually being bayonets.

See, bayonets are on rifles to act as a spear. They're used for attacking an enemy in melee range while keeping that enemy a safe distance away from your body. A bayonet on a handgun does fuck all because it's just a knife with an added weight that makes it fucking useless as a knife. If RETRACTS from the dexterity of using a knife. If anything, a bayonet on a handgun is a HINDERANCE to the user, as least a far as "performing as a knife" goes.

A rifle with a bayonet is equivalent to a spear what shoots bullets. A handgun with a bayonet is equivalent to a knife what shoots bullets. Your enemy should not get close enough to you for you to be able to hit them with the knife, cuz at that point they can also just hit you with theirs.

TL;DR: Bayonetted handguns do fuck all and if anything they put you in more danger. They're useless and no one in their right might would use one. Bayonets on rifles however are very useful.

i do bang my desk about the hair-width implications in scattered issues of kurt recognizing the vibes of magic that im gonna run fifty marathons with,, as he should, in fact!! raised since infancy by a once- sorcerer supreme & throughout his life close to a Number of magic users... he Should be attuned to magic; even before he got into that soul-pact with the bamfs — he's been surrounded by magic most of his life!!! i do in fact wanna argue that of the 2nd class prior to yana joining as magik he did have the (2nd?) best sense for magic shenans. ( i wanna put that 2nd best as a maybe technically there coz of sean coz i vaguely remember there bein stuff re cassidy keep, they could be tied for all i know ) . but i do feel this in my bones. kurt Should recognize the vibes of magic. i'm talkin can tell the difference between Magic(tm) & a slight of hand, feels a difference between being messed with via mutant ability n technology or via spell; hell, he already canonically can handle magical items to a degree it's implied other non-magic-users cannot (insert soul swords, soul daggers, & his own hope sword). it would figure that he can detect traces of magic just like he can detect the planar shift of someone teleporting in his rough vicinity.
