April 29th marks the anniversary of this YunaAki scene in episode 16.

The moment doesn't last more than 2 minutes before Kaito's uncharacteristic slip-up causes him to rewind time but it's enough to show how much he cares about Akiho's well-being and how highly he thinks of her.

He goes out of his way to meet her as she's walking home. Even though the neighborhood seems relatively safe and it's still light out, he's concerned for her safety. Understandable since at this point, the magical artifact hasn’t been removed yet so her clan and the Association are still targeting Akiho. She has no powers of her own and therefore, no means to protect herself so Kaito can't possibly leave her alone and vulnerable to being kidnapped.

But Kaito is always careful not to alarm Akiho so he greets her with a distraction. Yet even that distraction is heartwarming because it's a compliment of Akiho's voice. It would've been sufficient to say he was worried or use that same old line "I'm just doing my job (to take care of you)” but instead, he chooses to tell her how beautiful her singing is.

The fact that Akiho wasn't even singing but humming and he could hear her "quite clearly" says a lot about how much he admires her.

However, due to the harsh criticisms she often received during her early childhood, Akiho can't even begin to accept an honest compliment without feeling uneasy about it. Her instant reaction is to want to deny it, like she feels she doesn't deserve such kind words or any form of approval.

It's so sad that the abuse inflicted upon her has conditioned her into always having a low opinion of herself ("I'm clumsy", "I can't do anything", "I'm useless") and it must hurt Kaito a lot to see the person he cares about most think that way when none of it is true. Which is why he is often reassuring her that she has many great qualities, hoping she would one day see herself the way he does.

At the same time, he knows that Akiho is particularly sensitive to any comments regarding herself so he doesn't push it and steers the conversation to a topic she's more comfortable with: her new friends.

Akiho brightens immediately at the mention of them and the troubled expression on her face disappears. Kaito was able to cheer her up but again, it's sad to see how difficult it is for Akiho to accept value in herself as opposed to how readily she praises other people for theirs.

But it goes on to show that if anything, Kaito is ever the determined type (haha, oh yea)

Their conversation leads back to another sensitive subject for Akiho: her clan.

The clan that always thought poorly of Akiho for having no magic. The clan that jumped at the opportunity to turn her into a object that they could use to store all their greed in.

Even though it's their fault that Akiho's self-esteem is so low, she still directs that blame towards herself.

"if I wasn't so shy, if I was more capable, if I could just do better"

It's heartbreaking. For both of them.

Because Akiho is further chipping her confidence away, little by little, and it must be all Kaito can do to hold back his anger at those magicians for causing her to turn out like this.

But even if he were to berate them or curse them, it wouldn't make Akiho feel any better. It'd just make her sadder than she is now over her circumstances.

It would be counterproductive to his goal of wanting her to be happy.

And for her to be truly happy, she needs to be free of them.

The only way to do that is to lessen the hold the clan has over Akiho, to replace that negative influence with something stronger for her to believe in.

Every time she's about to put herself down, Kaito gently counters her with encouragement and support.

"(That's not true) You're a wonderful person, Akiho-san"

"Akiho-san will surely be able to achieve it (I believe in you)"

"You're better than they can ever hope to be (and I love you for that)"

And by the way Akiho smiles even just a tiny bit at his words, you know it's working. It's been working since the moment they met all those years ago. Gradually and carefully, he helped her repair and build up her self-esteem to the point where she can now make friends with no problem.

It won’t ever be perfect because her trauma runs too deep for those scars to be erased completely… but Akiho has come so far from the little girl who would run away whenever someone approached her because she was afraid of being criticized, of getting hurt. And that's all thanks to Kaito being there for her when nobody else cared.

Akiho would not be the person she is now if it weren't for Kaito refusing to give up on her. He defied everything that would deny her the happiness he repeatedly said she deserved. Including, occasionally, Akiho herself.

If someone put in that much effort for you, to fight so hard for your sake even on a level where you're just simply exchanging words with one another on the way home...what is that if not love?

tooru walked downstairs and stopped when down the hallway in front of the steps led to the kitchen where the voices seemed to lead to

tooru wandered down the hallway and he stopped, finally seeing the owners of those voices

there was a woman with h/c hair swaying to the tune and a beautiful little girl curled up in her arms while sitting on her hip

love how nightbeat is pretty much agreeing with the decepticon ideology here, even if its clear that he isn't Actually a decepticon - it just drives home the fact that, in this story, The Decepticons Were Right About A Lot Of That Stuff (or at least, they had a reason other than ‘destruction’ for rebelling). 

AND THEN THERES RUNG!!!!!!! WITH HIS MODEL OF THE LOST LIGHT....god i fuckgin LOVE the continuity in this story bc the first time reading this ur like oh ok rung is old yea makes sense...but then later all the time travel stuff happens and then its like OHHHHH

quarks extreme POV on all of the stuff is so interesting, and makes so much sense bc of Course he would think that as a non-combatant scientist who, due to his functional value in current society, wouldn't really benefit much from a revolution - in fact, he’d probably lose a lot. and that’s the sort of thing where you’re like, ok well think about everyone else dude, have some perspective - but at the same time, quark did suffer a pretty terrible fate, so his fears weren't entirely unfounded...augh, its so fascinating...im sorry I'm not gonna shut up about space robot politics this Entire time

pre-war prowl is such an interesting character. actually prowl in general is such an interesting character...I kinda wrote him off during my first read of mtmte (and even a little during my second readthru) as just this dude who’s an asshole (espec bc my prev tf experience involved watching tfa as a kid, and this prowl is very different from tfa prowl lol)...but prowl is SUCH a multi-faceted and interesting character, even in the relatively little we see of him in mtmte 

plus it was interesting to learn later that prowl was one of the characters that jro wanted for mtmte and didn't get, and MAN i wish he got prowl bc I would've loved to see what jro would've done w/prowl on the lost light, that would've been amazing. like, just imagine the arc he would have...I have no idea what that arc would BE, but I know it would be awesome. plus I’d be really interested to see how prowl would factor in, relationships-wise, amongst the crew of the lost light. so much potential!

ALSO the layers in the fact that drift then goes on to become a well-known murderous decepticon...so this little scene of him and ratchet in the past gives a lot of context to ratchet’s general attitude towards drift - ratchet clearly feels at least somewhat responsible for all the blood on drift’s hands, since he saved drift’s life way back in the day

the whole relinquishment clinic thing is such cool worldbuilding, bc of course that's the kind of thing that would develop in a society of robot aliens who are only allowed to work within the rigid confines of their alt mode 

I love the whole matrix thing bc its kinda like being the pope or st but also you have a ton of political sway, so its a super important position, so of Course the corrupt senate would want full control over that power, and would assassinate the current prime to try to get their own guy in

also the first time I read this I thought I had just missed his name and like halfway thru the story I went back and scoured the pages looking for it hbvhsjdfbshgfdsbj then I was like oh ok so we’re maybe supposed to just know who this guy is from another comic? but NOPE it was very deliberate and I only realized very close to the end that they were setting up some sort of reveal

its funny bc normally I'm not a huge fan of stories where politics play a huge role but I fuckgin love it here, the politics and worldbuilding is all so interesting and also balanced out with a healthy dose of cool sci-fi hijinks, so

ima break down the latest bts highlight reel for ya’ll. to start it out here’s a happy jin cuz this is how we all felt before shit hit the fan.

so here’s j-hope and who ima dub “j-hope’s girl” dancing. not sure what they’re dancing so hard for yet, but they is killin it. all i know at this point is that j-hope’s girl is most likely a very close relative or a friend of his. um but yea nothin much goin on at this moment, all is goin well so far.

then it cuts to jimin. he’s in the same studio, dancing the same moves, except he’s by himself. this leads me to believe that he is probably practicing on his own, and hittin that power ranger pose because that he wants to impress j-hope’s girl and/or j-hope.otherwise, i feel like he would have asked to dance with them from the very beginning cuz he obviously knows the moves. but anyways, from what i gather he seems to either idolize and/or have a crush on j-hope’s girl which is why he zoomed in on her dancing in a previous video. he probably just wants some recognition and the opportunity to dance with her. but compared to the last scene there is a difference in lighting. it seems like jimin’s scene was purposely devoid of any lighting, with the exception of what was coming through the windows. it would seem that the tone we should be picking up at this point is a very dark, emotional, and desperate one.

of course we got taehyung doin what he’s been doin for like 3 of bts’ mvs, and that is what? graffiti ya’ll. what i think is that he does because he gets a rush from the fact that he’s doin somethin illegal and can get caught for it and/or he uses this art form as an outlet. as we can all see, there’s a bunch of things written all over the surfaces of this bus stop. things that i can actually read include, “I’m fine”, “Tell me the reason”, “Won’t trust. Can’t trust. Don’t trust.”(ya can see this after he and the girl skedaddle from what seems to be the popo), and “Pio (insert word i can’t read for the life of me but prolly means somethin real important). luckily, ya girl knows some italian and i at least know that “pio” means “pious”. basically, a pious individual is an individual who is super religious (pious can also mean insincere in the correct context, so who knows this word could have a dual meaning in this case). so what i’m thinkin is that taehyung is a previously religious person who may have asked God or whatever deity he worships, the reason why the things that have happened to him happened. he didn’t get an answer or an answer that was acceptable to him, so now he has trouble trusting in his faith or people in general. now instead of addressing any issues he may have, he copes by doin graffiti. it’s probably the only way he can display his thoughts/emotions.

aight so rap monster is lowkey stalking this girl. like i’m surprised she hasn’t noticed that he is literally almost everywhere she is. but she probably takes naps everywhere, that’s why she ain’t notice shit. but anyway, rapmon is diggin this girl, but he’s too nervous to really approach her, so he spends his time watching her for extended periods of time, and doin small, nice things for her. it seems that this could represent that he lacks the confidence to reach out for an attainable goal, and instead does things he thinks could help him get there. but quite literally if he bends slightly to the right and stretches his long ass arm out, he could tap that girl’s shoulder. he’s that close.

so um here’s jungkook lookin cute, goin down the stairs, holdin some flowers, and lookin forward to some happy ending type shit. he’s completely unaware of what’s goin on in the rest of the video, much like how i was at this point tbh.

so now it flashes to how rapmon left a hair tie for this girl on her backpack. like it’s nice and all, but if i were to wake up on a bus suddenly cuz it’s ma stop i would either 1.) think i left that hair tie there and think nothin of it or 2.) get up really suddenly, grab my backpack, and get off the bus resulting in the hair tie falling on the floor of the bus. but like das me. maybe this hair tie has some kinda significance like flexibilty or keepin shit together or somethin but i really dunno. for now it be just a nice gift from rapmon.

aight so rapmon is at this stop lookin at all this graffiti, and ya know he prolly thinkin “skrrtt wait i recognize those crosses on them t’s. ma boi taehyung eyyyy. *chuckles* his ass in jail again smh.” but for real, he probably really did recognize that the graffiti was taehyung’s work. and maybe this moment also represents the fact that he and taehyung are in similar emotional states.

so here’s when the dramatic music picks up, and everything spirals out of control. again jin representing us all, cuz we bout to hit a truck full of emotions. *cough* foreshadowing *cough*

bruh i have so many questions. 1.) why was j-hope’s girl standing behind jimin in the first place with her arms crossed like that? i have no explanation as to the purpose of that at all. like i’m lost. 2.) there was literally no contact b/w his arm and her face or in general. LOL I’M SORRY I’M JUST BEING PICKY AT THIS POINT, BUT HE SWUNG AND SHE GOT K.O.’ED AND I WAS LIKE “WHAT?” 3.) he grabbed the front of his arm in pain and i was like “how is arm hurt there, when he straight up backhanded her? like did i miss somethin in the .001 seconds between when he swung and when they hit the ground?” what i got from all this? she flopped, and is tryna set up jimin, and jimin be imagining his injury. they both straight up trippin’. also, the lights are on in the room now. so she either walked in on him dancing, turned on the lights, approached him, and got mollywhopped. or they actually did end up practicing with one another after she caught him practicing, and this was just an unfortunate accident.

they literally made it seem like jimin done murdered somebody with this scene. he was frantically washing blood off like someone was really after him, like damn son you knocked out j-hope’s girl on accident (maybe) just chill out homie. but tbh this part is reminiscent of different forms of media using the trope of quickly trying to get blood off your person after committing a heinous act (more likely than not murder), because you feel immense guilt suddenly wash over you. so it’s safe to say, that jimin feels incredibly guilty for what he’s done, and is trying to get the “evidence” of the act gone asap. also, how is there that much blood? is j-hope’s girl’s face made out of jagged glass or somethin? damn.

so suga has been upset about something this entire video, and i really don’t know what it is. it upset him to the point where he felt the need to drink, and yell at this girl in a drunken stupor to leave him alone. but what i recall from the last video is that “suga’s girl” visited the hospital that jungkook was staying at to perform for the patients. jungkook looked at the lighter that was hanging off her guitar, and it seemed like he recognized it. so what i’m thinking is that he approached her asking about suga, words were exchanged, and she went back to tell suga about said exchange. or wait jk i just remembered that he received a phone call at the end of the last highlight reel, so jungkook prolly called him pffft where ma head at? anyways, suga probably had something to do with why jungkook was in the hospital, or at least stood witness to what sent him to the hospital. so maybe hearing about him again set him off, resulting in his very apparent anger and frustration. it seems he’s also feelin guilty as well. but ya know it could be something else entirely, most of the time i have no clue wtf i’m talking about so all this prolly ain’t an exception.

j-hope running in the rain with the girl on his back, presumably to a hospital nearby or something. like i don’t even know if it’s nearby it could be 10 miles away, and j-hope wants to prove to us that he has the endurance of a marathon runner, the strength of a strongman, and the legs of an olympic cyclist. but i’m guessin he had to be at or near the studio when the girl was injured out cuz there was no way he could’ve responded so quickly otherwise. also, is she really even completely unconscious? or semi-conscious? cuz i’m just guessin like i have this entire time. cuz that’s a pretty tight grip she got goin for a person who’s completely out. i mean who am i kidding she didn’t even get hit in the first place, bitch can walk.

ok taehyung and the girl are in this alleyway cuz they are hiding from the police after the whole graffiti thing. the girl is givin him the look of “i dunno what to do right now, but i do know that i’m not goin down for this, so bye. my behind stayin right here. i wasn’t built for jail.” but really,i struggle to understand what this girl is representative of if it all anything. it almost seems to me like she’s some kind of moral touchstone. when she was stealing stuff from the convenience store, taehyung easily could’ve ignored her. but nope, he decided to pay for the things she wanted to steal. and then now when he’s in this situation, he’s more than likely gonna give himself up than let her get arrested as well. so like maybe she doesn’t even exist? maybe he was the one stealing, and he’s all alone in this alleyway. maybe it’s just his conscience that manifested itself into this girl. or maybe this all just trying to show that taehyung may be troubled, but he is also incredibly selfless.

so for a little while now, jimin has been chasing after j-hope and j-hope’s girl. but suddenly he stopped and just looks on in sheer hopelessness. he sees no point in going after them anymore cuz they were either too far ahead, or the realization sank in that he didn’t even know what to say or do when he caught up to them. carrying that umbrella seemed to be hopeless as well tho. ma boi is soaked.

yup of course taehyung gave himself up to the police. that seems to be his thing. we all saw that smile he had when he got arrested with rapmon in “run”.

jungkook represents all of us at this point. the video is almost over, and we feel like we gon understand somethin but there is nothin. we just standin here with flowers in our hand, starin at an empty hospital bed, confused af. but really i know bighit is tryna make me feel like this girl is dead and gone, but nah i bet my left pinky that the girl was discharged.

she really ran across the street without lookin both ways, and we all know what’s bout to happen cuz this shit always mothafuckin happens. we hear the sound of the honking, the tires breaking, and the crash. all the while the happiness is slowly seeping out of jin’s facial expression.and then that’s it. jin is staring at us through the camera, blank faced as if his own life was snatched from him. i mean my life was snatched from me, so were my emotions, and my brain power. there is a purple light shining on him at the end, and i don’t know if bighit decided to throw that in for dramtic effect or because it actually symbolizes somethin cuz i know purple/violet light can be representative of several things...

like for instance it can symbolize royalty and loyalty. so my conclusion to all of this is is that jin is a king, and his subjects aka the rest of bts are loyal to him, as he is to them.
