my translation index

i always say this anyway, but it bears repeating - i am 1000% very extremely sure i can never capture the actual meanings of this. i will at least try to capture the spirit but holy susmaryosep this deserves to be listened to

their drama is....DEFINITELY more complex than what i expected, but oh well fine.

major spoiler alert - as if it wasn't obvious from the lyrics already - arthur's a vampire from 1900's london who befriends atsushi because he smells like roses and has special, probably very yummy blood. atsushi figures this out very quickly and arthur ends up basically proposing they spend the next 200 years of arthur's life together, because somehow atsushi's special blood will make him survive that long?

atsushi doesn't wanna become vampire travel snack, though, and tries to kill arthur to make him leave...but then goes after him because he feels like he has to be the one to kill him. also, arthur bit him, leaving a weird rose-shaped bruise. hmm.

i am actually very bitter that i am not in japan and thus cannot watch the continuation to this because bias aside IT JUST SOUNDS SO GOOD.

the thing about this duet is that, of all the duets in this disk series, this is the only one where they're singing TO each other. i just felt like i had to point this out ktnxbye

all the occurrences of "swaying" in the second chorus aren't referring to the actual movement, all of them are referring to the "swaying your heart" kind of meaning.

fsr the only ways i can think of as a viable POV for FREE is a hikikomori boy thinking about a girl he only sees from afar (...think keishi from ACTORS towards his friends?), or...someone playing a dating sim, i guess.

either way. very arthur. this was close to his satoru singing voice, very pop-rock, very nice. familiar. but-

i have zero idea why atsushi would be singing about stars. the closest thing i have seen to an in-show theory is that his "tiny complaint" in one ep was that "when i walk outside at night, i can't see the stars anymore." but that was most probably a lie to make tasuku say things, contextually speaking.

i know the songs aren't probably supposed to be taken as against their personality so deeply. BUT STILL, WHY.

the most probable reason: his image within the group is "cool and mature". this sounds like advice a cool and mature senpai would give to his down-on-their-luck kouhai.

things i end up thinking about at 12 midnight: the song is about him.

i keep saying this, but - atsushi has had roughly ten years experience in the industry. definitely far from the 若手男性声優 label 8p uses for its boys. i doubt this was where he saw himself being ten years ago, but he's adapting, making it his own and oh god stop me from talking i'm just going to cry again
