When i reblogged that i literally almost went on a tag rant about how perfectly this describes alba and then i was like "i have to stop seeing her in everything" but apparently I'm the only one who sees it so! Tag rant it is!
I want more stories with emotionally stunted women.
I'm talking women with the emotional intelligence of a corn chip. Women who were scolded for crying as a kid, whose feelings had always been dismissed as irrational and hysterical, who have been convinced that they're always overreacting.
Women who keep it all inside, who bottle everything up until it kills them, who can't even compliment their friends because even showing basic kindness makes them feel vulnerable. They live their lives behind several ironic proxies and haven't been genuine with anyone for as long as they can remember.
Women whose friends are more like ghosts. Texting them feels like talking to nothing through a fucking ouiji board. They can't connect to others no matter how hard they try and don't even feel human anymore.
When someone vents to them, they don't know how to react. Compassion wasn't shown to them so they have no example to follow when it comes to showing compassion to others. They end up giving unsolicited advice instead of just showing sympathy and understanding. They operate almost like a machine, thinking things through logically and in a black and white way, not taking into account the broad range of complicated human emotions and how they function.
Women who lose sight of who they are, who they want to be, and who they could be. Who go through agonizing loneliness and isolation only to hear "Women have it easier than men because they're allowed to show emotion. When men cry, they're ridiculed. When women cry, they're given support and help."
If only that were remotely true.
