jude had been your best friend since you guys were kids. both families would go on vacations together. it wasn't time where you guys weren't attached to each other. secretly, you each wanted more. it seemed like the older you got, the more the feelings intensified. not that it would be said out loud.

"oh judey boy, i got a question for ya," you opened the door to his room, flopping on his bed with your chips, after you closed his door behind you. the boy groaned and rolled his eyes upon hearing the childhood nickname.

"when are you ever gonna give up that nickname?"

"hmm, i quite like the nickname."

"of course you do," jude takes the chip bag from you to grab a handful. "on with your question darling."

"i need you to be my date for a friend's wedding."

"no." you gasp and sat up right, ready to plead your case.

"jude c'mon, why not?" you whined, grabbing his arm in a weak attempt to give him puppy dog eyes.

"why can't you just go by yourself?"

"i don't wanna be the only person not bringing a plus one. please, be my date." hearing the word date, sent jude's stomach to flutter with butterflies. wishing it was a real date.

"why does it have to be me?"

"you're my best friend. we do almost everything together," you put on your best pout, batting your eyelashes at him. jude didn't know why he bothered arguing with you. he could never say no to you.

"fine."

"oh my goodness, you are a life saver!" you practically jump on top of him, pressing kisses to his cheeks. he laughs it off and pulls you into a hug. no wonder why people think we're dating.

"I'm not dancing though."

"deal," you stay wrapped in his arms, relishing in the fact that you don't have to ask a random person to be your date.

the wedding was beautiful. you definitely cried and jude was right there to dab your tears away. not that he had to but he wanted to. he always did. blame it on muscle memory.

"look everyone is slow dancing," you whisper to jude, while continuing to people watch. completely oblivious to the way jude was staring at you.

"lets dance then. don't wanna be the odd ones out."

"are you sure jude?"

"c'mon," he stands up from his chair, holding his hand out for you to take. you smiled, taking his hand and moving to the dance floor.

your arms settled their way around his neck, while his hands found the comfort of your waist. you guys swayed to the soft music that played in the background.

"have i told you that you look beautiful tonight?"

"and you sir, look very handsome," you meet his eye piercing gaze with a small smile.

"can i kiss you?" jude blurts out in a whisper. he watches your face to see if he possibly messed up the vibe or anything.

"god, you don't know long i waited for you to ask me."

"what? then why didn't you ask first?"

you watched tiktoks so often that you knew pretty much any trend that happened. being chronically online has always been your weak spot. you told jude that you wanted to do another video. him being so used to it, he agreed immediately. you set up your camera, starting the timer countdown and sitting in your boyfriends lap.

"hey guys, it's me and jude again."

"hello," jude wraps his arms around your waist and puts his head on your shoulder.

"oh wait I forgot something in the living room. will you guys watch my boyfriend really quick?"

"watch your boyfriend? what'd mean by that?"

"they're gonna watch you and i'll be back love," you kissed his cheek and got up. walking out of the room, not going too far. just out of jude's eye sight.

the first couple of minutes were filled with awkward silence. jude was looking everywhere but the phone that sat against the vanity mirror. it was hard for you to not burst out into laughter right there.

"have i ever told you guys how me and y/n met? it's possibly my favorite story."

"she was here in madrid for her exchange student program and visiting the football stadium. there was no one there because it was closed to outsiders. she of course didn't know that and was just wondering away," he takes a second to let out a laugh.

jude had never told you this story. it made your heart swoon at the fact that two years ago and your boyfriend still remembered how you guys met. you decided to walk back into the room. sitting yourself back in his lap.

"baby, you were gone for forever."

"sorry about that. what'd you talk about?"

"that's for us to know and you to find out later," jude kisses your cheek, making you laugh at his weirdness.

"yeah whatever jude," you shake your head with another smile.

"also, stop doing tiktok trends on me."

the fenty beauty lip gloss in the shade fenty glow was your staple piece. the nude brown shade was something that went with every outfit. you've been obsessed with it ever since the shade first came out. it never mattered how many lip gloss or lipstick products you owned, that was your go to shade.

"jude have you seen my lip gloss?"

"which one?"

"the fenty one."

"last time i seen you with it was in the car."

"thank you babe," you place a kiss to his lips and run out to the car. you knew that you had to make the trip fast, in order to continue getting ready because you guys were already late.

you searched everywhere the lip gloss could have been in the car and came up empty handed. it wasn't in the cup holder, on the floor, in the dash board or even in the back seats. you locked the car back and walked in the house.

"you found it?"

"no, i think that i really lost it this time."

"aw i'm sorry to hear that love. we can get you a new one."

one thing your boyfriend never did was give up. not when it came to football, video games and definitely not when it comes to you. he had his mom take him to almost every makeup store, just to find the lip gloss. when he finally found it, he let out a relaxed breath. he bought two, just to be sure you had a backup.

"baby, I have a surprise for you!" you heard jude say from down the hallway, in a sing-song voice. looking up from your phone, you find your boyfriend standing in front of you, with his hands behind his back.

"should i be nervous? what's the surprise?"

"why would you be nervous?" you shrug your shoulders, with a pointed look.

"i dunno, you do some strange shit sometimes."

you do as he told you. in less then a minute, the boy drops a small bag into your hands.

"you can open now," opening your eyes, they land on the ulta bag in your hands.

"what's this?"

inside the bag was your favorite lip gloss. two of them to be exact. your jaw dropped and you looked at your boyfriend in awe.

"i had my mom drive to me the makeup stores to find it. it took a while but i got it!" you got up from your seat, pulling your boyfriend into a tight hug.

with jude being a popular football player and on the new cover of fc25, ea sports wanted him to do a twitch stream playing the new game as a teaser. they gave him the setup he needed to put up in his room.

"hello everyone," jude says, while putting on the headset that the company loaned him. "woah this is so weird. i've never done this before."

jude watched the chat go crazy. it was almost overwhelming with the amount of people that were watching and commenting. "someone said 'where's y/n?'. she's currently out with my mom, so she's gonna be out for a while. maybe she'll say hi later."

"saying 'we like her more than you' is absolutely mad. y'all are here for me not my girlfriend!"

for the next hour jude sat in the gaming chair, playing the game. talking and interacting with the chat once in a while. he was so engrossed into the game that he didn't even hear the front door close.

you made your way to the shared room. not realizing that jude was streaming because it had slipped your mind. having a girls day with denise was always fun. you guys went out for brunch and did some shopping afterwards. although, you didn't come home with much. just a new coach bag that you've been eyeing and a bracelet from pandora.

"that's a load of fucking shit! i passed the ball and the stupid player didn't get it in time," you froze behind jude, watching the boy yell at his setup. you knew that you were about to laugh at him, suddenly he whipped his head towards you.

"oh hello darling. how was your day?" jude said, giving you a bright smile. you immediately broke and laughed in his face. after a couple of seconds, he joined in on the laughter. completely forgetting about the paused game.

"what's so funny?"

"yes."

A Case for Jezri

Listen, I know how the DS9 fandom feels about Jezri, but I just wanted to take a moment to explain why I like it. I'm not asking people to agree; I just want to give it some love because there are things to enjoy and to explore in that ship that haven't gotten any discussion.

(Also why is 99.9% of the Jezri tag just people tagging their hate? Who raised y'all? Please be respectful towards your fellow fans who may not feel the same as you.)

I'm no stranger to finding my gold nuggets in the trash heap when it comes to Star Trek ships. I'm the type to find the things to love about something that was executed poorly by the writers. Datasha is my TNG OTP. Need I say more.

So don't think I don't understand some of the main objections people have to Jezri. I get it. I do. So with that out of the way, let's get into the good stuff.

Julian's personal story, particularly in the later parts of the show, has a strong motif of loneliness, which comes from two or three different aspects of his life. The first one is of course the fact that he's an augment. He's socially isolated by his mental and physical superiority. No one can keep up with him, and he has to diminish himself to fit in, especially before the truth comes out. The second is the evolving lives of the people closest to him. There reaches a point where nearly all of his closest friends are either married or in committed relationships, and he's the free floater who has to hope he can still fit into their lives somewhere. The third aspect is his own shit luck with relationships. No one sticks with him for very long for whatever reason. And there was the everything with Jadzia on top of it all. Poor man couldn't catch a break.

And then along comes Ezri. Quark is quick to treat her as same old Dax with a new coat of paint, for whose affections he immediately tries to generate competition with Julian, because he is a sexist little toad. Julian, to his great credit, is like "what the fuck, Quark" and makes it clear that he sees Ezri as a different person, not Jadzia 2.0 who he now has a chance with. Ezri is his new friend, and he's not going to be pulled into Quark's bullshit.

The writing is unfortunately rather uneven when it comes to showing us the establishment and development of that friendship, so we have to piece together the vibes from several disparate moments, some big and meaningful and others more incidental, but that's not too difficult for me. Fandom has done more with less.

Anyway! Through all of that, we kind of get to see that Ezri sees Julian differently than Jadzia did in a way that allows them to click very quickly. Jadzia sort of saw Julian as an adorable puppy excitedly wagging his tail at her (and by the time he matured into someone who was more her type, he'd stopped pursuing her and then she was with Worf). Ezri sees him as the charming guy who knows how to have a good time. It seems natural to me that Julian would quickly latch onto someone who thought his holosuite adventures were demonstrative of a healthy sense of fun and not a sign of immaturity. Ezri is literally the bad bitch he pulled by being autistic.

And they are such adorable awkward nerds with each other! The big eyes! The soft touches! The fumbling! The trying to keep things platonic because they just like each other so much that they're afraid of messing things up! The breaking down and making out anyway because they can't escape the vibes! *chef's kiss*

The thing that completely sold me on Jezri, though, was their moment together at the end of the last episode where Julian is mourning Miles' departure and feeling lonely and then Ezri rolls up like "Hey~!" and expresses the desire to have dinner and do holosuite adventures with him. That was so beautiful to me. Everything is changing and so many of his friends have left and it's the ultimate pit of loneliness for him, but then there's Ezri. He has her now and he's not alone and the war is over and there's hope and the start of something new and soft. I cried, y'all. Like maybe it's because I'm at a place in my life where I feel left behind while I watch all my friends move on with their lives, but man, the way Ezri represents the light at the end of a dark tunnel for Julian just got me so good.

Here are some of the headcanons I have to supplement the sparse canon material and give further depth and enjoyment to my shipping experience:

They're both bisexual.

Since they're both healthcare professionals, they have a lot to talk about where their fields intersect. They make a great team when they're working, but this also results in them developing a shorthand with each other that is somewhat infuriating for others.

Ezri's closeness with Julian allows her to better develop her friendship with Garak, and there are several times when all three of them get up to shenanigans together.

They sometimes get each other new tea blends to try as a fun little surprise.

Ezri tries to teach Julian some of the gymnastics stuff she remembers at least once with mixed results.

Julian particularly loves hugging Ezri, and she particularly loves holding his hand.

Julian persuades Ezri to read Lord of the Rings, and she gets really into it, so they end up doing a holosuite adaptation as Legolas and Gimli. Ezri plays with her beard a lot.

Quark fucking hates how cute they are and Kira makes a point to tell him about every sweet moment she sees between them just to fuck with him.

Ezri very much gets in on the Fuck With Section 31 train and helps Julian do spy shit. The criminal psychology knowledge comes in handy.

Anyway, these are my feels. Please don't air your grievances here. I just want to sail on my dinghy and hope someone out there is sailing with me.

Oh my god where do I start I legit love everything about his appearance

Okay. I think. I'm just gonna say his face. Like. I can't pick just one aspect about his face, I love it all. His pretty golden eyes, his cheekbones, his nose, his lips??? And listen. I love the fact they didn't make him a "conventionally attractive" young guy. Like, I will say that yes, he is almost human looking, all you have to do is remove the goat ears & nose, and give him a human skin tone and that's all you gotta change to make him look human! But he is so cool looking! They could have made him a generically attractive guy, but they made him an older guy, gave him wrinkles too! And I LOVE it!!!

So many people don't like how he looks without the mask and ya know what? Anyone who thinks that is a COWARD. He's handsome as hell, and I like him better without the mask tbh, even if the armor is a good look!

However, some artists have drawn him with his mask off, but the rest of the armor on. And it makes me go insanely feral. Like. I cannot say the thoughts I have about that man when I see art like that because I might scare some of y'all JDFHFDIJG

Oh goodness, I've been too caught up thinking about Joce and D.raxum's pre-dating shenanigans so much I haven't really thought about what type of dates they'd go on. 😳

BUT WAIT ACTUALLY-

Okay, so it may not count as a "date" since it happens before they start dating, but it's the "Something There" moment where they both realize "Oh, this isn't a crush. I'm in love."

Joce and D.raxum get dragged to a day at Albertoland by April, the turtles, and one of my friend's S/Is!

And they're pretty much just trying to make sure none of the teens get into trouble, and Mikey wanted D.raxum to come out and have some bonding time with everyone.

And Joce and D.raxum get mistaken for a couple. Multiple times.

But also, it's where Joce starts to see D.raxum CAN be a good guy. He's a little awkward the whole time, not really knowing how to carry himself around other humans. He just got used to Joce, April, and my friend's S/I after all!

But him and Joce end up on their own while the teens go on some rides. Joce doesn't really trust carnival rides, it's a weird hang up she has, so she sticks back with D.raxum and the two bond some more. And in that moment, they both realize how much they fully enjoy each other's company. And man. Has the other always been so attractive?

I still gotta write out more details, but this is basically it! It's such a fun thing I have planned for them hehe.

· He’ll focus all his attention on you, nod, smile and caress your hand with his thumb
