for those of you that have been following my bodyguard!frank series, i'm excited to announce that february 24th will be the one year anniversary of the series, and i'm officially declaring it bodyguard frankie day!

when I first published the request from @lowkeythor's genius brain, I never imagined it turning into a full blown series. it's crazy to think that I have been writing this series for an entire year. some of y'all have been following it since the first post, and some of y’all are just experiencing it for the first time, but it's still surreal to me to see so many of you falling in love with my silly lil story

I am so grateful to each and every one of you that has taken the time to read, comment, reblog, send me messages with your excited ramblings, recommended it to a friend, and all around been so lovely, but i'm especially grateful to kate for allowing me to turn her idea into a passion project that has easily become the work i'm most proud of

sixteen chapters & 84k words over the course of a year, and we're not even close to being finished yet

in honor of the one year anniversary, i'll be doing a lil mini event. i'll be posting chapter seventeen, along with a snippet of chapter eighteen, and i'll also be posting a playlist to go with the series

Thoughts on the ending

So this isn't going to be as in depth as what some others have done...just my own personal thoughts. So, spoilers ahead y'all under the break

I felt the finale should have been longer. I felt that, especially towards the end, things were rushed and just slapped on in a 'well this happened'. Granted, this makes me have a bit more fun time with my 'job' writing out what happened for my stories as I get to play around...but at the same time, I wanted to see more.

I felt there definitely could have been more with J and Tessa (or "Tessa's" relationship, giving a better reason of why she sided with them than "I want to live". I kinda did the "Oh...so she knew the whole time." response when I saw J's reaction to the Solver bringing the ship down. Personally, I kinda hoped that she didn't know, which would have gotten a lot of very interesting interactions ranging from grief to confusion to absolute effing fury that the Solver took another thing from her. Which would have meant J fighting alongside N and V rather than against them...which imo could have been a cool thing. The "I hate you but I hate this thing more."

V I expected to be alive. In one way or another. Either she was going to be fully ok like what we saw in canon (that oil drag away in the ep7 teaser clued me in she survived) or we'd have Eldritch V to deal with before messing with "Tessa".

I do wish that the "Bus Crash Trio" had more of a relevance other than delivering the gun to Uzi and Khan getting to slam the door down on "Tessa" and stop her from eating N's core.

Also literally everyone but Doll and Tessa living was just a "aw come on..." from me (though there might be a chance to get Doll back from what I could see since we see Uzi's HUD flash her purple, Cyn's gold and Doll's red.)

I felt the entire episode could have been at least ten minutes longer.

Now, enough with the complaining and on to the stuff I liked.

The horror and action was wonderful. I adored the final fight against "Tessa" and J. The Hallway scene with "Tessa" stalking Uzi and N while giving Callback Pings to call Uzi back to her was chilling. Not to mention the whole "LetMeInLetMeInLetMeIn" scene. (I wish these scenes were longer, make the Solver horrifyingly threatening as it's toying with them/hunting them down). Also. Uzi's core literally trying to rip itself outta her chest as she's getting pinged was just horror fuel.

V and N's PTSD kicking in when "Tessa" confronted them just MWAH! Yes. All the Trauma for the cute murder bots. V's shrieks of terror and panicked "I need to get away!" moments were absolutely gorgeous and I will gladly enjoy messing with that in my own way.

The callback pings also made me squeal because that was something my awesome friend @banyanas created for their DD headcanons and we all kinda went feral over them. I'm glad to see them there!

Cyn lived. Even if she's not in her own body, I am happy to see the silly little chaos gremlin alive. I am STILL of the opinion that Cyn and the Solver are not the same person. As I kinda got that vibe when Cyn was talking to Uzi at the locker...it was a lot more kind and innocent compared to the earlier battle. Maybe it was her resignation of being stuck like that, I don't know.

Cori, effing Cori. I love the purple spitfire, still my favorite character to traumatize and love on and oh my god yes the Khori content. I am so glad she actually lived. Khan still loves his crazy beautiful wife even if she doesn't have a proper body (yet...I'm not convinced they don't eventually give her her body back). Tsundere Nori was sweet as she saved him and oh I'm totally not gonna weaponize this :3

Nuzi confirmed! My Biscuit Bites lovin' heart is happy. (Picks up Orion and Astra) Look! You two are somewhat canon now!

Uzi kicking god in the screen. CROSSROADS CREW! LOOKING GLASS BEAU AND FLIPSIDE VERA YOUR GIRL KEPT HER PROMISE AND KICKED GOD IN THE SCREEN!!

A detail I haven't shared much but have been thinking on was Uzi's eyes now. How they're a gradient of yellow and purple. I...will admit I did have the thought of when she gets stressed/frightened/angry there are little yellow glitches in them even though the Solver is destroyed in Suns, Moons and Stars.

All in all, still kinda 'ok' on the episode. My favorite is still Episode 4 though 7's up there. I wish some things went different but eh, that's what my job as a fanfic writer is.

As it stands, Thank you Liam, thank you Glitch, thank you Michael, Elsie, Nola, Daisy, Fitzy, everyone. All of you did your hearts' work and it very much shows. If not for you guys, I never would have met people I am honored and blessed to call friends. And I never would have started writing probably the longest story project I've ever done.

The 'I'm Still Alive' Update

Okay, now that that is out of my system.

This week (two weeks?) update is going to have some personal stuff thrown in, so I'm going to put the personal stuff in one group, and the works update in another. Personal stuff will touch on mental illness, so consider this your warning. It will begin immediately below the line break.

Personal stuff:

Alright, I've talked a tiny bit about the fact I deal with mental illness, but I've never gone into too much detail. To make a long story short, I deal with five mental illnesses. All of them have been confirmed/diagnosed, I am under the care of a doctor and therapist. GAD, OCD, MDD, PTSD, and to top off the sundae is ADHD. I call them the cavalcade of clusterfucks. (humor is how I deal)

On a good day, I'm able to go to the library or grocery store and barely feel a blip on the anxiety radar. But on a bad day, I don't really leave my bedroom. For the past couple of weeks, I've been having a couple more bad days than normal due to stressful situations that just. Kept. Coming. I had no motivation to work on my art or writing, and if I did, my brain wouldn't focus enough to draw or type. Some good did come out of the stress though, I have a working vehicle again. I have my truck back, Big Red. She needs work, but she runs. (Yes, I name my vehicles.)

Thankfully, things are winding down and resembling normalcy again. Just need to catch up on sleep, and I'll be close to feeling human again. I just wanted you all to know that if I ever stop posting for longer than a week, it's probably the cavalcade acting up in one form or another. But just know that I will always be back, no matter what. So don't worry too much, okay?

Fanfiction stuff:

Now, for the fun stuff. I honestly wasn't surprised that our beloved rat man won the poll, most of my followers are as feral for MacCready as I am lol. I'm working on compiling all of my notes on him into one document and condensing it down, because there is a LOT.

I still plan to post Cassie/Andi's natal chart, probably in the next couple of days. Maybe even today, depending on how the dentist's appointment goes. (the sensations make me anxious) Next will be MacCready's character summary and natal chart, then Deacon's.

This update's poll question is for when I do post about our wonderful spy Deacon. When I give his character summary, do you want me to tell you what I chose for his real name?

1. WRITEBLRS TO FOLLOW

i mean, everyone is v talented in their own way, and beyond "unpredictable and unhinged" i'm hardly certain what you're looking for, but if you're asking for people that i personally vibe with -

@at-lxs - rarely posts her own writing, but remains one of my most treasured mutuals - the day i get her to put content on her blog, it's over for y'all. she's so fucking funny and sharp, and either way, her tags are also always worth a visit bc her eye for detail & analysis on writing will leave you shaking

@holotones - woohoo fucked up, deliciously good writing time!! if you like unhealthy relationships, body horror, and cowboys, i legit can't recommend haeji's blog enough. they write in basically every genre known to man, which is also a huge plus - if for some reason you don't love everything they post, you are guaranteed to find at least one thing you do

@llesbianwrites - HER WRITING KNOCKS ME OFF MY FEET EVERY TIME I SEE IT AND THAT'S THAT ON THAT. i still get breathless thinking about hungry ghosts, and i want peter's intro inscribed on my gravestone. read it or/and perish

@carumens - one of the first writeblrs i followed when i joined - she's so open and welcoming, it almost helps distract from how much my heart aches whenever i think of sunflowers at night :')

@aelenko - abby's blog features one of the only non-fantasy wips on this list, since it's not smth i typically care for - which should alone be testament to how crazy talented abby is to make me care about hers. she's also got new fantasy & dark academia wips that make my heart go TWICE as wild because,,, ohhhh my godddddd

@emdrabbles - worldbuilding. worldbuilding everywhere. also six of crows content, which frankly i don't think the world can ever have enough of. also also guaranteed to be the coolest person you'll ever meet, but also a certified bully of taller people (everyone) so look out for that 😔

@viviuyn - her writing has so much going on, how can you NOT be captivated? i don't even like vampires technically & i still can't stop thinking about that excerpt she posted about the man who loves his vampire gf a little too much :'>

@acrimoneous - two words: CODENAME HAMLET. bonus words: wip of the century. also leaves literally the nicest comments, i get a little emotional whenever i see them

@zuiderhaaks - i didn't think it was possible to go feral go stupid over every single thing a person posts, but eva somehow proves me wrong each time. if you like themes of divinity, with a nice heaping of Oh God Oh Fuck Am I Crying Right Now, can't recommend high enough tbh

2. TAG LISTS

a tag list is a list of people who've asked to be tagged whenever you upload content related to your wip! so like, let's say you have my wip, requiem. someone asking me to join the tag list means that, when i post writing on requiem, i'll tag them in it - whether in the form of a self rb (my preferred method), under a 'read more', in the comments, etc. it helps to keep track of the people who have asked on a notes doc, i've found, or else it just gets messy - esp if you have multiple wips, but not people interested in following each and every one

3. HOW DOES WRITEBLR WORK

kind of like how you'd think, i reckon! you post your writing in whatever form you please and roll from there.

some general tips i can give you on it though include -

make an intro post detailing who you are, what genres you like, what you're hoping to post/follow, your interests, etc. this'll help you find other people in the community

use tags like "writeblr", "writers on tumblr", "original writing" and "wip introduction" (for when you first post your projects)

don't stress over number of notes, they'll come come to you. but also lower your expectations like a Lot in regard to them if that's smth you care about. 20 notes is considered 👌👌

and legit don't stress or put yourself down. we are all just sitting here man
