People who think being a stay at home parent (read: mom) is “easier” than having an outside-the-home job need to consider how they would feel if, when their shift was over, they:
a) could not leave their place of work
b) actually had to continue doing that exact same work, just at 50% (being generous) of what they do during the day, until they sleep
c) had to alternate (again very generous) with a coworker continuing this work randomly throughout the night
And this is completely ignoring how during the day at a job you receive your necessary adult socialization, it’s entirely likely you get alone time, it’s entirely likely you get breaks, etc etc. And of course is assuming a level of worksharing that is beyond what most mothers receive, consciously or not, when their working partner gets home

ive been volunteering as a workshare (aka volunteer in exchange 4 VEGETABLE) since 2022 at this farm every summer and it's truly been such a highlight of my life, especially this year... as some of u may know but many of u probably dont, last year i essentially stopped being able to Go Out due to some kind of mental health spiral that rendered me incapable of doing day-to-day activities... i've gradually been returning to being able to do stuff, and being able to volunteer on the farm has been an immense source of joy & also, idk, basic dignity? i value being strong and doing manual labor a lot, so it was really nice to be able to harvest veggies, weed, lug heavy stuff around to set up the CSA tent, etc. met some delightful people and - most importantly - was not freaking out about The Fear the whole time. so that was huge. i went 11/14 weeks - this tuesday was my last day - and im immeasurably happy that i was able to do it... :')

i'm not interested in any rigid overarching workshare situation. it doesnt work for me. because the (resultant)expectation is that my time and energy are not as important as whoever is currently having an emergent situation, in such organizings. the expectation is that anyone and anyone should pick up anyones slack for any reason. it becomes a competition for whose time and energy and wants and needs are more important. whose emergents are most emergant. who screams the loudest. doesn't work for me. ideas vs application. i see what ideas are used for, and how easily they can be abused, especially in situations involving mutual trust and cooperation. I much prefer a situation along the lines of 'I will take care of myself for me and you will take care of yourself for you' coupled with 'help the weak if you are strong'. i will let you figure the difference between that and that and this and this.

Use Of The Change Bars-A Second Set of Eyes
This particular option (Change Bars) provides another pair of eyes when looking for black-line changes. For those of you who may be new to legal, a black-line compares your current document you were just editing with the earlier version of that same document. The deletions traditionally use strike through while the additions between the two compared documents traditionally use double underscore.
When you run the Document Compare in MS Word or a third party software such as Workshare (formerly Deltaview) or ChangePro you have the option of using Change Bars also known as Changed Lines. In MS Word, you can control the feature under the Review Tab and then under Advanced Options, Look for Track Changes Options/Changed Lines.
Why is the Changed Lines feature useful? Well, let us say that a paralegal or attorney has the need to go through a 120 page single spaced document in order to check all of the blackline changes that were made by a client or another attorney.
Now let us suppose that on one page of the 120 pages, a comma was changed or a number was changed on a particular page and nothing else was touched on that page. Without the Change Bar, the likelihood of you seeing that blackline change is low. But, if you have a Change Bar sitting to left or right you are being alerted that indeed, there was a change made on the page no matter how small a change it is.
So, you can see how this feature can be a very important 2nd set of eyes when scanning through a document for blackline changes made. I believe it is to the advantage of the attorney to make use of it. Look for it under the Review Tab go about midway on the ribbon, and then under “Advanced” little click box to the right of Track Changes. Click on the little box and you will be looking at "The Track Changes Options Menu” where you will find “Changed Lines” about a third of the way down. For the 2007-10 users, the Track Changes Option Menu will be found under the Track Changes Button.
