i didn't think i'd actually improved all that much in the last year so i decided to do a new watercolor scully for comparison and turns out i had 😭
#biggest takeaways:#the first one's sketch was largely (and poorly) traced#whereas i've actually practiced my sketching this year so the second one's all me#i'm thus getting better at perspective but i'm still not all that great at it#still cant do anything below the shoulders but i think that's my goal this year is to figure out how tf to draw A Body#i am clearly getting better with colors and understanding how they interact#with a byproduct of that being i'm understanding shadows and highlights more as a depth than as [dark here light here]#which is in turn starting to bring texture to hair and clothing etc#all to say it's almost like art is never one discipline and improvement in one will bring improvement to another. yay!#personal#my art
