The fact that noda included ogata in this panel is making me Lose It Profusely bc from day one (of what we've seen) ogata's attitude toward tsurumi has been completely at odds with the rest of the men in the panel and i refuse to get my hopes up bc it only leads to disappointment but this makes me very excited for the (possible) reveal of ogata and tsurumi's backstory?? Like ogata's deep distrust of tsurumi has been flaunted for chapters and chapters and even when he was working under him and killing his father we saw him wary of tsurumi but just the thought of ogata being once as trusting and devoted as tsukishima would be soooo tasty? I guess we get a glimpse of it when we see the flashbacks to yuusaku's death? But i do think ogata goes against tsurumi's wishes when he kills him so even then he already showed certain independence. What this panels basically confirms for me is that ogata the first of tsurumi's "young men" to realize his true intentions and to fall out with him. Ofc this could be just tsurumi's point of view, that ogata managed to fool him into thinking he "loved" him as the rest but is ogata that clever lmao and like how much weight ogata's betrayal of tsurumi has had on his life from that point on.... Not being trusted by anybody, specially sugimoto, and branded a traitor for overcoming tsurumi's manipulation and turning against the villain the others can openly fight without qualms bc tsurumi is The Villain foe them but ogata was too late to see it, causing him to not fit with any group of people, condemned to wandering alone without belonging. And whats more ogata would have been the most vulnerable to tsurumi? If we do get the story of how they met and it resembles the rest, it must have been when he was very young as koito or usami? And he truly had nobody, if his grandparents had already passed away or even if they hadn't I can't feel like they would want much to do with the grandson that killed his mom? But ogata's character is so diff from koito or usami, tsurumi would rlly need to work him over, to gain hia trust and that's going to HURT ME if we get to see it. and ok pity party over lol i just want to KNOW WHAT NODA IS PLANNING bc i have no reason to doubt him but he is weaving such a GOOD STORYLINE GOLDEN KAMUY IS AMAZING
