◯ GHOST ! OBITO ◯

After his final gift to Kakashi and the defeat of Kaguya was seen through, Obito discovered he was able to manifest in the living world in more ways than possessing his friend to grant him full, albeit temporary power, of the Sharingan. Perhaps it was this very act that granted him this ability. However, moving to the physical plane isn't a skill you just master by knowing you can do it. Not only was it exhausting at first to do, but also scant in its results: he could barely make sense of his surroundings, couldn't interact with anything, and energy sources like sound and light were overwhelming. Without rigorous training it was all but useless if he didn't possess a living host-- another skill that was trickier when it wasn't a willing friend.

Even in death, the training grind never ends.

◯ ABILITIES ◯

POSSESSION : can inhabit a living host and either grant them use of his abilities or use theirs, and with enough effort control the body in full. possession of someone with sufficient chakra stores allows obito to inhabit the living's world for longer, granted the host permits such.

TANGIBILITY/INTANGIBILITY : can control how solid a form he takes, though the more tangible he makes himself, the more concentration and chakra required.

JUTSU : able to perform genjutsu, fire-based ninjutsu, and dojutsu. taijutsu is technically possible if he makes himself solid enough, but doing so makes him just as vulnerable to physical attacks.

ELECTRICITY : does the ghost need a snack? is the ghost eeby skeegy and just wants to go beb by time? zap the motherfucker.

◯ VULNERABILITIES ◯

ELECTRICITY : don't go overboard though. he'll explode. good way to "exorcise" his host though. just... be careful. if the ghost explodes, so goes the host.

KAMUI : unable to access his kamui abilities whatsoever without a host, and it is incredibly costly of energy if said host doesn't or hasn't possessed sharingan.

JUST VISITING : should he become to fatigued, injured, distressed, explode, etc... obito will be sent directly to the graveyard. this card cannot return to the battlefield until-- I MEAN-- obito will fade from the physical world, and must recover in the afterlife for a time before he can manifest in it again. depending on the cause and severity, this may take five minutes to several months.

Percy for the Character thing?

Wait! Oh yes, wait a minute Mister ...Milk! Man~

First impression

Honestly I think the first time I actually saw Percy was in the outro of some CGI Thomas that was on telly at the time ...several years ago. I have absolutely no memory of the episodes themselves, but somehow it seems I got the ED more than once? So I couldn't possibly say what eps they were or even if they were HiT or Mattel seasons, but it was the Engine Roll Call thing. "Percy pulls the mail on time," it would say. And that's how I knew his name, colour and his job, lol

Impression now

Percy, a precious, peril-prone pea!

We are all love Percy. He's cute and cheeky and pretty darn sweet! And sometimes he's as daft as a brush, which leads to many Funny Moments. The producers of the show also had a pretty obvious bias toward him, as it feels like every season 6 episode has him crash into something or otherwise a heavy amount of spotlight.

Sadly, this made me start to feel a bit annoyed as him being used so much doesn't mean he was used well! But that's passed now, because s7 [for all it's blandness] did different things and the Golden Era of s1 - s5 actually has variety and balance and a better eye for how to use the characters... Like Percy! Cause he was heavily featured in 2 and 5 but so much better it didn't feel like he was being pushed, haha

It's also kinda funny to think how in and out of universe, he was originally a Replacement Thomas before diverging and becoming his own engine, (even if s6 did have him as the Main Character) but when you again consider some of his defining traits being Small, Cheeky, the Station Pilot who was mentored by Edward, and even pulling Annie and Clarabel early on.

I do prefer the version of Percy who has the hidden roughness (contrast with Thomas who's more upfront about it lol) and his own things to do, being more Goods-based and Harbour located, and later being the de-facto Post Train puller, while still having Ffarquhar as his main home. And he's a bouncy, playful sort'a fella, which contrasts nicely with how Thomas holds his work so importantly.

Favourite moment

First that comes to mind is his Wheeshing at Henry, which is so unexpectedly big and loud that Henry scoots tf outta there in panic. Legend hours only!

For a somewhat longer moment is Percy's Promise, cause while his heroics that day would later engorge his head and make him do something stupid later, he was legit impressive at the time lol

Also Promise shows how dang unlucky he is, cause Thomas lets him pull the Sunday School train as a favour, to be a nice break! [Trombone WUP WAH sound as the camera cuts to the flooded line]

Idea for a story

I don't have fresh ideas at present, the WIP I do have features him fairly heavily, but the most I'll say here is that grew out of my musing on Duck's post lol

I would be curious about his pre-Sodor times, though! He's meant to have had a long and chequered past, predating most of the cast members and having been all over the country, but even if it was limited to the warehouse FC1 eventually buys him in, who are the other engines? Are they friends or foe? What was Percy called, seeing that Sir Hatt names him on the spot?

Unpopular opinion

Percy + Crashing ≠ Instant Classic Ep, Season bloomin' Six!

I also feel his naïve nature and general ignorance is leaned on too hard. It's very transparently to have a convo between him and Thomas for the benefit of the Kiddie Audience but it doesn't feel authentic to either character when they stop and are like:

Percy: What is "Money"?

Thomas: [looks at the audience with generic smile mask on] Money can be exchanged for goods and services.

Percy: Oooh, I wish I had money! Then I could buy a lovely bow tie! [Imagine spot of him wearing one]

That's the sort of template that became weirdly common, and it's one of the early signs that the series was sliding to be more Children Friendly at the cost of it's actual broad appeal. Man...

Favourite relationship:

Done right, done well? Then yes, I really am fond of the Best Bud dynamic he and Thomas have. They have enough in common and enough different to bounce off each other well!

...I just feel like it more often isn’t done to actually be in character for one or both of them. Like I just said with the ‘Percy is Dumb so Thomas explains basic life fixture to him’ example, Thomas tends to get stripped down to a bland slightly wiser role who’s there because he’s the title character, while Percy is treated as the most important character who has to be in every episode but also Learn things and oof the Sixth Season did do a number on me lol

(Literally the best ‘Thomas Explains Something To Percy’ moment was in Percy takes the plunge, as Thomas was using his own experience with the mine but Percy takes the story too literally and doesn’t get the point lol)

I like it when they’re competent, hard workers who are mostly in sync but also have silly rows over things and get into prank wars. They cooperate on the Post Trains and Percy is one of a very small number of engines Thomas trusts with Annie and Clarabel. They also bicker and stew over comments the other made, which is indeed a Sibling type behaviour and doesn’t contradict the affection they still have for each other.

The alternative brotp is Percy and Duck, which again I touched on in Duck’s ask and Jobey went into more depth on! Combined they are a well oiled machine and don’t seem to suffer the same OOC bouts, so it’s a lot of fun seeing them doing stuff~

Favourite headcanon

Percy is absolutely older and wiser than he comes across. Some of his baby faced, wide eyed curious nature is a careful construct, all the better to take the meaner types by surprise when Percy does his stuff very effectively. Also he can’t carry a tune in a bucket, haha

2. What are some common elements of stories you are tired of seeing? What would you avoid writing about?

- Tired of seeing and will avoid writing about cheating, love at first sight (I know you can be attracted to someone or find them interesting but being like the bad versions of Romeo & Juliet stuff? nah son), unsatisfying endings, major characters dying (can be done right but generally let’s avoid that), etc. I also don’t like apocalyptic settings very much, so I don’t write or read about those. Also, obviously, the bury your gays or only one or two not cis/straight characters in the story. If that’s what this question means by that lol.

3. What loves do you tend to write about? Agape (unconditional, spiritual love), Eros (romantic, passionate love), Philia (affectionate, platonic love), Philautia (self-love), Storge (familial love), Pragma (enduring love like between long-married couples), Ludus (playful love, infatuation you feel during the “honeymoon period”), and Mania (obsessive love that leads to madness and jealousy).

- Oh, definitely philia, storge, pragma, philautia, and eros, generally in that order of how prevalent they are in the story. Lately I tend to write stuff that involves lots of characters, so it’ll be a mix of all of those with platonic/familial being at the forefront. Love me some of that found family trope.

7. Favorite description in your wip? (If asked more than once, respond with a new piece each time)

- oh my god okay. I don’t do descriptions a lot cause I suck at them but I’ve always liked this one:

An open seat. Next to someone who just barely stands out from everyone else, despite the fact that this is a general education class—where you’ll find people from all walks of life. Short black hair that’s just puffy enough on the top that it makes her want to run her fingers through it. Nose that looks like it’s been broken one too many times. Dark, perceptive eyes. And a jawline that looks like it belongs in Hollywood. Sandy’s eyed him a couple of times before, but he’s usually right on time to class—expertly slipping in just seconds before the timer on Professor Garner’s desk goes off—or darting out at the end of class faster than she can blink. And Sandy blinks pretty fast. So this is her first good look at him. And she decides she wants a closer one. He is kinda handsome, after all.

and for kicks, a more recent one that I really like

“Not for lack of trying on their part,” the first woman says as she dismounts her Thoroughbred, who’s almost as pretty as her rider. Loose black curls pulled into a low ponytail, pale brown skin, full lips pulled into a half grimace. “Guess they’ll just have to try harder next time.” Her accent is barely there, buried under a lifetime of assimilation; either she was born here or moved here at a very young age. Hosea won’t try and guess where she’s from or how old either of them are. Out loud, at least. That’ll just get him in trouble. Though they do look close in age. Maybe not much younger than Arthur. 

“Next time, they ain’t gonna get much of a chance to try. There ain’t gonna be no small talk.” The other woman’s voice is rough. Grew up in the mountains, probably. Certainly not a city girl at the very least. This one is fairer skinned, freckles dotting her nose and cheeks. She’s also half a head shorter than the other one, but that’s where the differences seem to end. Both seem rough, strong, confident, and yes, very pretty. Hosea quickly kicks Sean before he can voice whatever thoughts are brewing behind his blue eyes.

9. What scene was the hardest to write for you and why?

- There’s a scene in my story Motley Crew where Sam has a nightmare and the other three comfort him in their varying ways, and I still don’t feel like I got it right? It took me forever cause I just kept rewriting that whole chapter to get it the way it was supposed to feel, you know? There’s other stuff that’s just taken me forever but it’s cause I get slight generic writer’s block and the thing sits unfinished for a long time. Or I have a general sense of the scene but can’t figure out how to make it work properly.

15. Why physical quirks do your characters tend to have? Eyebrow raising, picking nails, biting lips, pacing, crossing arms, etc.

- Everyone eyebrow raises lmao. All my ladies & fellas with long hair pull it back for action sequences because that is a very big pet peeve of mine. Sandy does this thing where she rubs her nails against each other when she’s nervous or upset and she does pace occasionally. Paige fiddles with her hands when uncomfortable. Lita tugs at her hair, and Keel tugs at his clothes. And puts his hands on his hips a lot.

16. What motives do you give your original characters? What drives them? How much tragedy did you subject them to?

- Usually my OCs are motivated by the tragedy I subject them to, lmaoooo. The kids I have for my Pokemon world setting are pretty unscathed, though Gail goes through Some Stuff later on, but it’s along the lines of betrayal rather than like, someone close to her dying (like I do with everyone else). My OC’s are generally good people and have big hearts, so they just try and do the right thing and help out where they can. Some want adventure, some just want to stop what happened to them from happening to others.

Oooh, hard one. It’s like when someone asks you your favorite movie and suddenly your brain forgets every movie it’s ever seen. What books have I read again?? Well, I’ll try but I don’t think I can put them in any proper order... 

 Anyway:

Lumen ja jään maa-sarja (The Land of Snow and Ice- series) by Ilkka Auer (I felt like putting all four as separate would be kinda cheating)

Anaché and also Arra by Maria Turtschaninoff

Kunnes rauha heidät erotti by Ira Vihreälehto (like… Til Peace Did Them Part? it’s a non-fiction book but)

I wanna say… Bargaining? It’s not a book per say, it’s a. MCU fanfic? Idk bro, I’ve read it a million times and it had a big impact on me when I read it the first time, so I guess. I guess it should count?

Aaaa, what else. Dang, this is hard. You know what, I’ve been trying to think of an answer to this last bit for like a week, but I haven’t come up with anything, so we’ll just have to do with four! Sorry.

Ugh, this was really hard. I’ve read a fair amount of books but I don’t remember that many of them having had that big of an impact on me? Like, say, the HP books or the Hunger Games or something else like that.

Character Page WIP ;)

Hey my beloved Simmie Simmers,

Aaaah I always wanted to do this! Originally I  planned to create such a character page and add the link to their mood boards I did a looong time ago hehe. But as you know I became sick and I was not able to finish this project! So I have now the info for all almost set up! Will add new moodboards for all the characters one by one as well. Can’t reveal them now LOL. But here you will find all 10 main characters who play/ or will play a vital role in my main story “Allure of Darkness”.

The cool thing about this page will be that you can see also the connections to the main characters like who is important for who and who is mingling with who and such stuff, you know =D. See those little pics? Yeah, there you will find some further info. Need to do a shooting with all of them and add the pics.

its not really a WIP because i haven't even started it but i was thinking of doing a rachel dare/alex fierro summer fling fic. i might still do it but who knows. i really do want to though.... and maybe "grief and glory"?? honestly "grief and glory" was something i was really excited for but then i got busy and then the big bang started so i might not finish it but i think ill just be on a hiatus from it for a bit and then come back later.

i have no idea. i do tend to write a lot but in my opinion thats a curse on me not a strength

i think it's cool!! i don't do it much since the languages that the characters i write about are languages that i don't speak unfortunately.

i would say it was riordanverse because thats when i actually started publishing my fics, but in reality... i actually wrote my first fanfic for the rainbow magic series 😭😭😭 it was with my friend in like 2nd grade and it was just the same kinda shit except i used ocs instead of the usual characters

For all that I love angst, the only two I can think that have an angsty ending are "Isn't Blood Thicker Than Water?" and "Boy's Telegram"

I'm not sure it's the happiest, but it's hopeful and I like it: "Shut Up, Six, A Ten Is Speaking"

I haven't yet, but I have a few thought out. Definitely a Star Wars+Riordanverse one, and a HP+Riordanverse too

Nope, but if I did, I'd write full feelings, not much porn (a disappointment to many people, no me cabe duda)

Nope, but it sounds fun. Wait, no, my cousin and I did write a hilariously cringe fic on the summer we were 12 or 13... I think we should publish it to make people laugh

Hard question. I have many. Ironically, the ship I've written the most about is one I don't like much anymore

15. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

I have a suspense story I've written enough of, but I'm missing crucial bits. I have a bunch of historical AUs for Percy Jackson, the other day I found a couple of Harry Potter ideas... I have lots I want to finish but I'm slow and easily distracted

I have no idea. I'm careful with dates and ages and that shit, if chronological consistency is a strength, then it's mine

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I don't proof read. And I'm not great with dialogue (too many descriptions)

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I prefer using only short phrases, or even just words, to imply they're speaking another language. Perhaps let the reader know by explicitly saying they've switched languages.. I'm not a fan of full dialogues in other languages because going back to the notes to find the translations is tiresome

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Percy Jackson with my cousin, but although I can't remember for sure, I'm almost certain I must've written for Harry Potter or Narnia when I was a little girl

20. What's your favourite fic you've written?

Uuuufff... em.. I'm terribly fond of: "Of Babysitting and Disney Features", "Nerds", "Happy Coming of Age" (found family is my favourite trope), and "It's Called A Cruel Irony" (it was interesting to get into the mind of an objectively not nice person)
