Aight, we're posting Self Care things today because I feel like it.

This is gonna get kinda Pagan/religious/metaphysical/witchy, so feel free to ignore if you are not a fan. Not setting out to convert anyone, but I feel this is at the very least a helpful philosophy to share.

One of the things I've learned in my study and practice of paganism/wicca and witchcraft, and one of the best reminders to care for yourself is the final eight words of the (actually fairly long) Wiccan Rede:

"An ye harm none, do what ye will."

At a very basic level it simply means, do whatever you feel like, just dont do anything to harm anyone.

What a lot people don't realize is that, you yourself are included in that statement.

What's also included is emotional harm.

The Rede, and spiritual teachings in general, effectively state that humans are just as divine as the sun, moon and earth. Each of us is powerful and worthy of love and care.

Beating yourself up, calling yourself names, being hard or unfair to yourself or others, even in your mind harms you and stifles you. It disconects you from your true self.

Another teaching is to regularly take the things in your life that are no longer serving you and let them go.

Something of yours broke and is unfixable? Some random thoughts dragging your mood down? Get it out of your life.

Harming yourself, in whatever way that means to you, does not serve you and in fact actively hinders you.

Let yourself be divine and powerful. Love and be kind to yourself.

I love you all and you deserve self care. 💖

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.

White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.

Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.

Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.

When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.

As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.

When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.

When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.

Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.

Hey! I love your blog, ur pictures are so pretty too. Your posts about your Book of shadows inspired me to start mine :3 Do u have any recommendations on how to start? New witch and broom closet witch here. I'm not sure what path to take in Wicca also.

Hi! Thank you so much ☺️ I'm so happy to help you with your magic journey.

One of the first things I learned when I began my journey is that being a witch is not the same thing as being Wicca. Not every witch is a Wiccan, and not every Wiccan is a witch.

Most of us when we decide to turn to Wicca is because we get mesmerized by the way people portray their path and spirituality, or because we want to try to do some magic. Some others because we love nature, maybe all of the above. The important thing is that you find yourself in the way.

I recommend reading the "Wiccan rede" and "The witches creed", even though both are poems about each, some practitioners use them as ethical guides. Those two are actually the first two pages of my Book of Shadows ☺️. After that, I recommend reading about all of the different paths in Wicca, as for there are many. And just go with your gut hahaha. What sounds good to you? What goes better with your ethics? How often can you practice? Would you celebrate the Sabbaths or not? What do you like in general?

Just enjoy your journey. Have fun and Wicca will help you find a balance in your life.

For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction --- that's the Third Law of Physics. It has nothing to do with the Wiccan Threefold Law. If anything, it's the antithesis.

The Threefold Law means you get triple the same energy returned to you that you put out into the world??? Bite an ass, get your ass bitten 3x.

I drop a rubber ball, it's gonna come up almost as high as the height from which it was dropped... (but without oppressing forces, it would come up just as high. Gravity & friction)

I’m personally fine with you being “Agendered - Identity, Bigendered - Presentation.”

Basically how I’m structuring my own gender identity, “Agendered - Identity, Ciswoman - Presentation.”

It’s, in my mind, similar to how some people have a distinction between romantic attraction and sexual attraction: I’m pansexual, but also lean more towards heteroromantic.

Both are important aspects of my Identity, and neither take away from the other.

Gender is both a performance and a instinctual identity.

For some people, both aspects align; for others, there are ways both are different.

Both experiences are valid, and why I love the term “Queer” for Identity, because no two experiences of Agendered are going to be the same, and that’s awesome!!!!

Wow, this was a revelation.

I just saw a stupid repost of a stupid Twitter thread saying how stupid it is that there is an Agender Pride day, that “wanting to opt out of Gender Identity shouldn’t be a Gender Identity” and literally calling Asexual a - cult? religion?

Stupid fucking shit.

The revelation was:

I was fucking furious, and personally offended.

I just….

I have never been this angry about imagining people misgendering me before.

I will have a ‘moment’ when I get referred to by male pronouns online, but I go “Oh, yeah, they didn’t check my blog, they don’t know, yeah I can see them defaulting to male, that was confusing for a second, carrying on.” It’s equivalent to my confusion if someone I don’t know calls me by a different name, just “Huh, did they mean me? Ah, yes, I get it now.”

Wow.

I haven’t been sure about applying “agender” to myself, because seriously gender makes no fucking sense to me including claiming I don’t see myself as having a gender. It was just - it’s there, I guess??

But my experiences are real.

People do have strong, impactful, even furious rage about their gender identity.

And I don’t, and that’s a thing.

And I’m allowed to have that thing.

“Well, why do you always need to put a label on things???”

Because for 40 fucking years, I never knew this about myself.

I have always been fucking agendered, because “girl” was just a word to me. I liked being female in the geek space because that made me an outlier, and I’m comfortable in that role because as a long-undiagnosed Autistic AFAB with ADHD, having “outlier” defined made me safe. The more reasons I was obviously different, the more excuses I had to cover up all the unobvious but still impactful ways I couldn’t mask/conform.

But every time I looked at the list of things that I was “supposed” to be, or want, as a “female” (outside of romantic and sexual attraction), none of that mattered.

But neither did any of the list of things for “male,” so, that just made me a lame (as in weak) female, right?

No!!!

I’m not a “lame” female!

I’m agendered!!!!

And there are others like me out there!

I’m not “failing” at a gender identity, I’m just - not gendered.

But that is worth celebrating, because by celebrating - by having and showing my Pride at being Agendered - I make that safe for other people to be Agendered!!!!

So, um, yeah.

I was today years old - 42.6 years - when I realized yeah, I’m Agendered.

I will still present as a Ciswoman, and use that term in situations where more detail isn’t necessary, because living as a Ciswoman explains much about me and I seriously don’t care enough to make myself Agendered in public.

Because I Don’t Care.

And I’m allowed to have “Present as my assigned at birth gender” as my presentation of “don’t give a fuck about gender, so go with the easy thing I’ve done anyway.”

Ok now.

Gotta lower my heartrate from that epiphany so I can sleep so I can get up for work tomorrow.

Im tired of the wiccan rede tbh

No offense to those who use it and i see it in a lot of my witch stores. The bad thing is all the books I see are wiccan related or have the “do no harm and it shall not be done to you” shit and I’m tired of it.

Baneful magic isnt a bad thing, its a necessary part of life. Choosing only one side of the magical spectrum is unbalancing yourself and very narrow minded. Cursing or hexing someone who deserves it isnt going to cause you to die horribly. If you have the right protections and give the person youre cursing a way out you’ll be fine.
