To not clogging the thread: Vaemond Velayron deserved to be feed to a dragon and his Slient Five got off lightly just losing their tongues.
1) Apparently they only 'notice' the bastardy of the three boys after Laenor died.
2) After Harwin died.
3)And Laena died, but apparently her twins are unworthy of Driftmark do to lack of the dick but not of birth.
4)This feeds directly into treason against the king and into the political schemes of the Greens.
5)The toddler betrothals basically made the issue mute because /Laenor and Laena/ made them.
6) Also book!Rhaenys was a brunette and show!Rhaenys white, unless someone wants to colorcode every other family by paternity and paint color I will die on this hill.
I mean look at Jennifer Beals (Flashdance) and Mel B (Spicegirls) who are both biracial.
Also the entire mystery of the main series was a brunette man can't have light hair colored children. Ever. No one looks like grandma.
*Pulls out four of the five Stark kids have red hair and blue eyes. Rhaenys the Queen that Never Was had a Baratheon mother. Jon and Rhaenys both look like their mothers. Woah.)
i didn’t wanna be like AND MAYBE IF THE SILENT FIVE WERENT DUMB BITCHES THEY WOULDNT HAVE DIED” bc yeah it was getting long but lmaooooo EXACTLY.
like, beyond the fact that i just have a very hard time taking any sort of "but they're bastards" argument seriously (that goes for ned too, and i've whacked him for it but WHY exactly does joffrey's behavior become worse knowing he's a bastard? hmmmmmm???) but it's like. so you've had an issue with this for years, and either brought it up to corlys/laenor who told you to suck shit, or never brought it up to the head of your house OR his heir and decided to kick it STRAIGHT up to the king. the king whose daughter you are accusing of treason. why do you think this is gonna end well? the fact that viserys didn't straight up execute them is crazy.
"oh well she's stealing-" no, she's actually not because as you say, laenor & laena engage their kids and baela and rhaena come before vaemond's line. if they had like an actual problem they would have gone to corlys before he was dying not after. they would have said something right after laenor dies. they wait years. yeah yeah torture is bad and murder is bad but they're no different than renly, vainly grasping at power when they think they see an opening. and just like renly, they play the game of thrones, and they lose. if you don't want to lose, maybe be smarter about it!
and yeah these are my go to "mixed but they look white as hell"

First is Cameron Boyce, he had a black dad and a jewish mom, those are his parents and sister. People love to pretend like they don't know he's black and "oh well he looks white so" he did an entire bit on disney channel explaining who the clinton 12 were because his grandma is jo ann boyce. if you're trying to make the argument that the beloved grandson of one of the first schools to desegregate aftr brown v board isn't black just bc he's pasty, like, what are you even fucking doing lol. the other two are kj apa. he's another actor people love to pretend is white but like. first of all look at his sister - they clearly look alike while she also "looks samoan" and his dad is the same as his sister. his dad is a tribal chief. the tattoos he has are sacred. just because people are insane about blood quantum in the usa doesn't mean that race and ethnicity isn't more complicated than that and calling the son of a matai a white boy simply because they made him dye his hair red and covered up his tattoos for a few roles doesn't actually make him suddenly non samoan.
people kinda do this with the dragon twins too like "oh well they shouldn't look so visibly black they only have one one black grandparent" BEHOLD ANOTHER ACTRESS WITH ONLY ONE BLACK GRANDPARENT

like can we be serious lol. can we please be serious.

A Brawl Day Chapter 30 Court
She changes her outfit four times before settling for the first one she had put on, a navy suit that makes her look much older then her 28 years. But is respectable. She sighs and brushes out her hair deciding to leave it down.
She has been both looking forward to and dreading today for for a week, ever since her barrister got the court date. Jamie had offered to go with her. As sweet as his offer was, she had to turn him down. This was something she has to do herself. Her mum will be there. For support and to watch Boyd. She doesn’t know if the judge will need to see him but she wants to be prepared just in case. Also she doesn’t trust Frank not to be about something. She wants her son close.
“Why do I have to wear this suit mum?” Boyd whines as she straights his tie. “It isn't comfortable.”
“As a show of respect to the court. I know it isn’t. When we are done , you may change back into your comfy clothes. You and me both. We will spend the day together as you are out of school and I work. How does that sound?”
“Great mum! Can Jamie and Jane join us?” She smiles as she ruffles his hair.
“No, they are at school and work. Maybe later. Come Boyd. Grammy is meeting us.” He takes her hand and they step out.
Julia meets her daughter and grandson on the steps. She gives daughter a look of encouragement. Taken Boyd's other hand they enter. Her barrister, Gillian, meets them.
“Hello Claire, Boyd, Julia. Let me show you where to wait while Claire and I have a quick chat.” She leads them to the old marble benches. Boyd takes a seat by his Grammy. He runs his hands over the smooth coolness of his seat.
“I've him dear.” Julia reassures Claire as she looks back. She nods and follows Gillian down the red carpeted hall.
“Worried Frank will try something?” Gillian asks.
“Yes. I feel better when he is close. I don't know if His Honor will need to see him.”
“Probably not but it doesn’t hurt to have him here.” Gillian adjusts her satchel, searching it's depths. “Has he paid any maintenance since he threatened to withhold it two weeks ago?” She finds the file she was searching for.
“No. Not a half penny.” Gillian nods.
“Tried to see him?” Claire fills her in on what happened that Saturday. “I see. How fortuitous that Mr. Fraser was available.” Said with a wink. Gillian has been her barrister and mate since her divorce. She is glad to see her finally dating again.
“Isn’t it?”
“This should be simple if Frank's barrister doesn’t try to bring up your relationship with Jamie. I don’t think he will. He knows Frank's past, after all.” Ned Gowan had been Frank’s advocate in their divorce. “I will object if he does. This is about Boyd getting what his dad owes him and setting up a visitation schedule that works for all of you.”
They are soon called in. Julia keeps Boyd entertained while his mum and Miss Gillian go inside the courtroom. It is familiar to her, as it is the same that handled her divorce. She looks over to the other table. She is surprised to see just Mr. Gowan. She whispers to Gillian. “Where is Frank?” Gillian looks over and frowns. She raises her eyes to Ned. He shrugs. Nothing more as the judge enters. They all stand.
After they sit back down, His Honor adjusts his wig and looks down at the empty chair by Mr. Gowan. “Mr. Gowan, where is the respondent?”
He stands. “I can not say. I spoke to him after getting Miss Beauchamp’s summons. He knew the date and time. We agreed to meet here early to go offer the case. He didn’t show.”
“Thank you Mr. Gowan. I see the petitioner is ready to begin.”
“We are your Honor.” Gillian replies.
“Very good. I have your papers. It seems Mr. Frank Randall stopped paying his maintenance on the minor, Boyd Samuel Randall, two weeks ago. Is that accurate?”
“It is your Honor.”
“Mr. Gowan did your client give any reason for stopping his obligation to his son?” His stern eyes find the advocates.
“He mentioned that Miss Beauchamp was restricting his access to his son and that there was a new man in her life she was allowing to bond with the child.”
Hi Honor sighs and turns to Miss Duncan to answer the allegation. “Your Honor, Miss Beauchamp has a right to date. The only time access to the child has been denied is when he showed up at her house, unannounced, and found her not home. When she refused to change her plans and bring the child home, that is when he threatened to cut off maintenance. He did. That is when Miss Beauchamp contacted me and I advised her not to let Mr. Randall have access to Boyd until this hearing.”
“As the man doesn’t view this hearing worth his time and presence, as he followed through on his threat to stop maintenance, I hereby order that visitation to be cut off until maintenance is resumed and caught up. Then Mr. Randall may have his son every other Saturday from noon until 8 and every other Sunday from noon until seven. If he can maintain this schedule and maintenance, then he may petition this court for further time. Mr. Gowan please inform your client that if he fails to show for the next hearing concerning his son, I will stop visits all together. That will be all.”
“Well that was easy enough.” Claire is relieved as they exit.
“It was.” They come to Boyd and Julia. She smiles at her mum to show all is well. She smiles back.
“Do I need to see the judge mum?”
“No luv. We are all done.”
“Good. Can I take this tie off then?”
“You may.” She grins at him as she helps him with it. They exit and hurry home to get into comfy clothes.

Not the same anon as before, but I would love to hear your thoughts on why Deke isn't Huntingbird's grandson please and thank you! I've been kind of torn on that headcanon because it's kind of funny, but something about it keeps me from headcanoning that myself. Like maybe it's because I've always thought Hunter and Bobbi would have a daughter? idk please share your thoughts!
"but I have a lot of problems with trying to make him Huntingbird’s grandchild (which I will not lay out here, but will gladly speak on more if you want). " speak more! i just don't think it's a good plot line, but that's about it lol
Hi friend! Well, a lot of my reasons for Deke not being Huntingbird’s grandson come from the fact that I, personally, dislike him as a character, and because I like Huntingbird so much it pains me a little to see them connected to him. This is a whole ‘nother can of worms that I won’t go into, because I recognize some people in the fandom disagree and I don’t particularly feel like spending the rest of the night fielding hate about that.
Anyways, beyond just my own personal feelings, I feel like there’s a fair amount of evidence that Deke isn’t Huntingbird’s grandson. For one thing, his last name is Shaw, implying his father’s last name is Shaw. I personally can’t think of any reason why Hunter or Bobbi would give their child a surname that isn’t either of theirs. And if, for some reason, they decided ‘fuck it, we’re naming this kid something that isn’t Morse or Hunter’, I am 100% convinced the alternate surname they would give their child is Hartley. Maybe if they had connections to someone named Shaw in the past I would consider that their son would have the surname Shaw, but since they haven’t, I feel like it would be too much of a bait-and-switch type thing, writing-wise. It could be argued that Owen Shaw was the one who changed his surname, but again... I don’t think that it’s “fair” of the writers to make us guess at the relationship without leaving any breadcrumbs.
The second reason I assume that Deke isn’t Huntingbird’s grandson is that we never get confirmation that they made it to the Lighthouse at all. Robin sees May as her mother figure, not Huntingbird, even though they were the ones who were tasked to look after her. (This could just be one of those timeline-crossing things that I don’t understand, but I’d always assumed that Huntingbird, as Robin’s protectors, would be the next in line should anything happen to Polly.) Again, I see this as all about foreshadowing. Hunter is literally the reason Fitz made it to space at all, and unless I missed something, his name was never mentioned on-screen after that point in season 5. The show hasn’t been great about remembering Bobbi and Hunter at all, and I feel like if they were building up to the reveal that Huntingbird were Deke’s other set of grandparents, they would at least namedrop them somehow, especially since there were so many convenient times to do so.
The third reason I think they’re not related is more to do with Owen than Deke himself. From the little we learn about Owen in 5A, he has an almost fanatical belief in S.H.I.E.L.D. agents coming from the past and rescuing him and all of humanity. This is, again, very heavily influenced by my opinion, but I find it very difficult to believe that Bobbi and Lance would raise a child who was convinced that anyone would come and save them. I realize that Bobbi and Hunter are both ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, but I feel like the ex is very important; they had to learn how to fight for themselves, and I feel like that, along with Hunter’s mercenary background, would very much influence the upbringing of any child that they had. I just can’t see any child of Bobbi and Hunter’s believing in a prophecy like that.
The fourth reason: it’s kind of lazy writing? Like, I’m not going to say that if in another plot twist Huntingbird are Deke’s other grandparents that the AoS writers are horrible or whatever, but to me it feels too nice and neat to have Huntingbird be Deke’s other grandparents. That could just be my own personal preference but I feel like it would be strange for that to happen.
There’s also the fact that it seems unlikely to me that someone with three non-American grandparents would have an unambiguously American accent, but that’s more of a side-note than anything. I hope this explained my position well enough. :)
