cursed by classes that are on an extremely interesting topic but with boring homework
#here i am writing an essay about sufism while not touching the two essays for my actual sufism class that i missed the deadline for#i'm almost at 3000 words. um#look ok the rumi reflection.... i have thoughts on rumi i can write about rumi#but that's minor compared to the like 4-page paper about why sufism is islamic or whatever. which is just. self-evident and therefore dumb#idk i get the sense that. prof wants us to say shit like 'sufism is islam' as an argument against 'sufism is influenced by plato' or smth#which y'know. would be fun to write about if any of our readings brought up plato#as anything other than a straw man#these secondary sources have. soooo much straw manning it's awful#like why must one read secondary sources. why can't we just stick with hallaj and rumi and ibn arabi and all those guys#and like. al-ghazali#why can't we read al-ghazali#no seriously why aren't we reading al-ghazali if the prof is so against philosophers :sob:#y'know what? i did so much research on the knights templar and bulgakov today. i should get to include them in my essay. as a treat#i should get to include al-ghazali in my essay. as a treat. as a fuck you to the prof for making the homework boring
