#while i'm feeling angsty in this chilis tonight#also obnoxious on this site?#the fact that bi girls are meant to have like 99% pref for women#or think men are shitty and resent their attraction to them#i'm not dissing anyone who this is true of#it just must be ugly and alienating to people who don't#even if u do have a big preference for women#the like. 3 men u like will make you just as happy and giddy or whatever#idk lads the pro-woman politically? great cuz the world is fucked up to us#but on a personal level?#we're literally all just people#i honestly dislike most men (not that i'd show it to them)#but my dearest friend is a guy#and you can't assume just cuz too many men make their whole personality toxic masculiniyy#you're almost pushing women into the 'fairer sex' category with this shit#pls stop we're not the pure enlightened alternative to men

“Are you sure you don’t want to dance?”
This with steve
Zgkzmfzkktzkklk
we know this man loves to dance but i made this really angsty soooo
steve had been off all night and you had no clue why. he was always so bright and happy when you were around him, but nothing you did seemed to pull him out of this funk, not even dancing to his favorite songs. you always played music when you cooked and since dating steve, you acquired his music taste. big bands were something you now loved and steve often slowed down your cooking process by pulling you away from whatever you were doing to just hold you and sway to the melody.
tonight, however, was not one of those nights no matter how hard you tried to make it that way, no matter how hard you tried to lift his spirits. as you were stirring the chili and staring mindlessly at the time on the stove, you thought long and hard about what could be wrong and how you could fix it, but your focus shifted when a specific song started to play, one that steve loved dearly.
"are you sure you don’t want to dance?" you inquired while the song began, the certain sounds of the instruments bringing a wave of comfort over you. steve had spun you around on many occasions to it's been a long, long time and you hoped he would try to tonight, just to make him the slightest bit happier.
"not right now, sweetheart," he sighed, his shoulders slumping against the couch he leaned on. placing the pot's lid onto the chili to simmer, you turned from it to go check on him once more.
"you have to tell me what's going on. i'm losing my mind here worrying about you when i have no idea how to help. are you sick?" your hand reached out to press the back of it against his forehead. he shook his head and lightly pushed your wrist away from him.
"please, come dance with me." there was a tinge of desperation in your voice when you spoke and steve's eyes softened at that. he hated the reason he was so torn up at the moment and didn't want to hurt you by sharing it. it was like he knew the meaning behind it too, but wasn't ready to cross that bridge just yet.
"i can't, not today." well, that did nothing but add to your confusion which was apparent on your face.
"why not?"
steve let out a breath before training his eyes on his hands in his lap. "it's the anniversary of peggy's death and this was the song we always danced to."
the feeling of understanding washed over you but so did the feeling of insignificance. if he religiously danced to this song with her like he did with you, what else did he reuse for you? yes, you were with the same guy that she was once with, but you always had this nagging feeling that he was still in love with her, his words further adding to that speculation.
"oh." it was all you could say. your mind was racing with millions of thoughts and words, but the only one your mouth could muster was a measly little oh. you stood from the couch and went back to the kitchen, changing the song immediately and stirring the chili with tears in your eyes.
"y/n," he sighed, the sound of his footsteps nearing you. it was the first time he'd gotten off the couch in a few hours you'd noticed. he couldn't do it when you asked him to dance, but the strength must've found him when he realized you were upset.
"drop it, steve. you didn't want to do much earlier and now, it's my turn. please, if you respect anything, if you respect me, respect that." your words hit him hard, leaving him with much to think about before retreating back to the living room.
