Radiant vol 3. Ch. 13

Summary/Translation under the read more. Yep you've guessed it, it's a weird project among my writing adventures. I've got up to vol 8 of the original radiant so I'll post a summary every now and then. So I'm doing this for fun because I happen to like languages and radiant is cool. Ive got very basic French coupled with fluent italian and google/various apps which has given me enough Basic context.

Anywho do consider buying the English releases coming out by viz media if you can't support the original, both are available online (book depository is a good alternative to amazon for English books or check the viz media site for alternatives, for the French edition ankama has an online store).

Ch. 13: when rumble town collapses

The gang (+taj and grimm) is looking up at the clock tower (horlomap it’s called i think its a play on clock and map, so hourmap but clock tower will have to do) where the nemesis tamer has a bunch of mouse nemesis ready to go all out into the city with a huge tornado spinning towards the sky.

page 1:

Townsfolk: up there on the top of the ‘clock tower’ \...A tornado

Townsfolk: the islet is trembling!!

Nemesis Tamer (I cant recall her name sorry!): Spread out!

Page 2-3:The mouse nemesis jump of the tower and ready to attack the town. The townsfolk are screaming ‘monsters’ and try to escape as seth and co. watch.

Seth: she let her nemesis loose on the streets!

Grimm: they must be eliminated as soon as possible. if they scatter it will be a carnage

Page 4:

Seth: Take shelter Taj! we’ll take care of chasing them

As Taj runs off, Seth goes after Grimm and ends up thinking: although... it’s true that i don’t have a broom anymore...it’s gonna take forever to get to the base of the tower

Suddenly Konrad shouts at Seth: Not so Quickly!!

Konrad: I’m not done with you yet riffraff

He launches the point of his lances at Seth, attached with a chain.to the rest.

Page 5: it connects to the wall underneath seth and the boy is quick to laugh.

Seth: HA HA You’ve got a baboon’s aim!

Page 5-6:However, Konrad uses the chain to propel himself towards seth and tries to hit him from above. Seth uses the repulse spell to deflect the attack.

Konrad is confident: i’m close enough to watch you croak

Seth notices his barrier is yielding under the pressure of the lance.

Page 7-8: He dodges out of the way and retaliates with skull poke but Konrad slices his magic much to seth’s surprise.

Konrad: you seem very surprised... you thought your sorcery was all powerful? HA HA HA

Seth thinks to himself: It sucks, he’s about to charge at me again like the time it cost me my arm

Pages 8-9: He activates the repulse spell and the charge throws him into the air as Taj watches hidden (Konrad’s like a bull on steroids wow). Meanwhile Konrad’s underlings are busy as Melie and Doc are gone.

Soldiers (Bubble 1 right): look at this! the cage was ripped open during the sorcerer’s assualt

Soldiers (bubble 2 middle): the imprisoned sorcerers escaped

Soldiers (bubble 3 upper left): dammit

Soldiers (bubble 4 lower left): we must find them!

Page 10: In an alleyway the escaped Melia had carried Doc’s mummy like corpse? weeping as she thinks: no pulse

She covers the body with her poncho and the scene changes to the attacking nemesis. The soldiers are panicking.

Bubble 1 (top): a nemesis! Up there!

Bubble 2 (middle): Soldiers! Hold your position!

Bubble 3 (bottom): Noooo! It’s out of our league!

Page 11-12: The nemesis jumps them but a blast hits it away from the soldiers as they look up to their saviour

The (timid!) Melie comes to the rescue proclaiming: No one else will die, not on my watch!

Soldiers: it’s still alive!!

Melie prepares charges her wand with Fantasia, both nemesis and Melie’s magic connect as the scene changes once again to grimm,

Page 13-14: At the base of the clock tower

Grimm kicks a nemesis to the ground slicing it up. He looks up at the tower questioning what the tamer wants.

Grimm (top): why leave nemesis on the islet? Why is she going so far to make a spectacle after concealing her presence or weeks?

Grimm (Bottom):  Grimm can’t complain, he doesn’t have to look for her anymore...but all the same...

Grimm (next panel): This doesn’t make any sense at all

The Tamer looks down at the chaos grinning and we move to Taj’s family as they are trying to run away.

Mum? Bubble (right): Dear, it’s dangerous to cross the streets with all these riots

Mum?Bubble (middle): I felt safer at home under the inquisitors protections

Dad? Bubble (left): And what will your inquisitors do when rumble town collapses? Flail their arms and fly away?

page 15: The family converse as they run.

Girl1: or by beating their legs, dad?

dad: huh?!

girl2: or by beating eggs?

Boy: WHAT? you can fly by beating eggs? STYLIIISH??? (like cool but in a stylish way, he screams styleeeeee!)

dad: would you stop saying nonsense...wahaaaa!

Mum (she poured tea on the poor man, again!): calm down dear, you’ll make everyone panic

Dad: the rioters aren’t fools, they will have thought the same (ils ont detalle eux aussi-i couldn’t figure this sentence but i think he means they’d be on the same page)...the only danger is the tornado! Do you feel the ground trembling?

Dad (next panel): Run along and find an escape pod?

Kid: and you dad?

Dad: I will find taj and join you

Kid: if we can move go ahead...it’s blocked dad.

The family arrives to find a crowded mass by the gates.

?: it looks like the gate is closed

?: NO! it’s the only way out of the northern suburbs to the docks

The citizens are panicking and screaming for the gates to be opened in the last panel.

top right: Let us out

bottom right: i don’t even live here

left bubble: Open up!

left bottom part: Help! I beg you!

Page 16: Taj’s dad is furious at the inquisitors who have basically left them to their fates.

Dad: they’ve trapped us like beasts!The scum

Younger kid: Fimie? (im assuming she’s asking her sister- and she’s fimie- about the word ‘scum’ as the dad says ‘fumiere’ which also can mean manure)

OlderGirl: it means poop

Boy: HAA, You’re POOPS

Mum (ever the random woman): POOP

After they vented the mother notices the stairs leading above the gate.

Mum: what about that staircase, dear?

Dad: it only leads to the ramparts, there isn’t a way to reach the other side

Oldergirl: Of course! Taj showed me a passage the other day! That’s he’d come and go in the suburbs during evacuations!

Dad: WHAT! The thug! he’ll be hearing from me! Ha! My word!

Older girl: Follow me!

The oldest daughter is running up the staircase followed by her screaming dad to stop (NO, Wait:  he calls out) and just as they’re reaching the top, a blast stops them in their tracks.

page 17: mum: are the kids ok dear?

?: I’m ok

?: so are we

?: HAAA! Dad! It hurts!

Dad: what? where?! where?!

?: You’re crushing my foot!

Dad: ah

The hilarity is soon cut short as the father notices just who almost blasted them to kingdom come:

Dad: its the captain of the inquisitors? what’s the matter with him!

?: He demolished the staircase!

Konrad: no person alive will cross this wall!

Page 18:

Seth is kneeling behind him, and calls him out: Konrad! a madwoman released nemesis on your islet...and you’re playing porter

Konrad: I didn’t break anything? Let me guess, you deflected the charge at the last moment

Konrad moves to face seth once more: This time, you’re definitely not...

Howeve seth cuts him shorts, charging in and cutting the distance between them much to Konrad’s shock. The chapter finishes with the promise that seth will have his revenge!
