âSo, babysitting?â
Alberu follows after the delinquent. From the record the vice-principal gave him access to, Cale frequently drinks alcohol, he often gets himself into a lot of fights, and he barely passed his classes at the end of the grading period. The teachers never call on him in class, girls and boys avoid him alike, and he is- supposedly- completely intolerable.
Which is why Alberu Crossman, whoâs only a little older yet infinitely more mature has been assigned by the principal (his father) to get the troublemaker under thumb. Cale's father is quite wealthy, actually, and since there isn't much known about the successor to the Henituse family... it'd be bad if he had to be expelled.
Cale scowled. âYes, babysitting, your highness. Please, leave if you must,â He jeers at Alberu, but internally he thinks, 'No, really. Please leave.' Otherwise, he might get caught in the act.
Of not actually being Cale.
Roksu aims a sour expression at Alberu, who returns it with a more flowery one. Acting as his twin for the day had been easy enough, mainly because being trash is great!- until Alberu Crossman strolled into his lunch period and introduced himself.
He is even following him out of the school to his job. Well, this job is Roksuâs and not Caleâs, but because he canât ditch work nor can he get glib-tongued Alberu off his tail-
Well shit.
Thankfully, the kids call him hyung. Except Raon, who calls him human. Hopefully Alberu doesnât look into it too much. If everything goes right, Alberu Crossman will be Cale's problem to deal with tomorrow. As it should have been.
âI didnât know you liked kids, Cale,â Alberu smiles charmingly, walking side by side with Roksu. âCan you introduce me?â Roksu struggles to not put on his own disarming smile out of spite, instead plastering on a classic Cale Sneerâą. It fits on his face perfectly, like heâs playing a character in a play.
They enter the building and âCaleâ guides Alberu to a colorful playroom, decked out in toys and a fountain of running water as the centerpiece (A gift from his father, who is still upset that Roksu doesn't visit more often). Thereâs a tray of fruits and oatmeal on the small table in the corner of the room, except not a soul to be seen. Picking up a bowl of oatmeal and finding the ceramic to still be hot, Roksu almost smiles.
Alberu frowns. Where are the kids he's supposed to babysit?
Roksu tells the empty air, "Come on out."
Three children appear out of nowhere in front of them.
âHyung!â
âHuman! Youâre back!â
âHyung, nya.â On examines Alberu some more.
All of the kids had been revealed the moment that Roksu spoke, as Raon unveiled the invisibility on them.
Raon runs up and grabs Roksuâs hand, who places it on his head, rubbing the black hair comfortingly. âMm.â Raon beams at the affection.
âRaon, On, Hong,â they each look up at him at the call of their names. âThis is Alberu Crossman, he is doing a report on my trashy behavior. Donât be rude."
All three children become hostile immediately. âHe isn't trash!â
On observes Alberu with an intense glare. Raon shifts under Roksuâs hand, his deep blue eyes glinting with magic. Roksu positions him away from the older teenâs view. Raon grips onto Roksuâs pant leg with a vengeance. Hong stares openly, offensive.
Alberu smiles at them.
"I'm visiting with Cale Hyung for today, nice to meet you."
Hong gasps suddenly.
âHe-!â On gives her brother a look, and he clamps his hands over his mouth. Alberu feels a deep curiosity, as if something isnât quite as it seems.
Roksu sighs. Itâs going to be a long hour.
At the midway point, Alberu has easily disarmed the children. They look fascinated at the magic he shows them, while Roksu can only rub a palm over Raonâs shoulder as a warning to keep his dragon magic under control. He's still just a child that wants to brag. Everything is going well.
Bang!
âHey Roksu! How was-â Cale bursts through the door, bright red hair equipped with a shit-eating grin, wearing clothes far less fancy than his usual. He tenses up, frozen in place when he spots Alberu on the floor, politely sitting "crisscross applesauce" with the children. Roksu narrows a withering glare at his twin.
â⊠Roksu?â
Alberu looks at âCale,â sitting next to him, the one he's spent the entire day with, who is trying to send what must be the real Cale into the sun with his eyes.
âHa⊠ha?â Cale winces. Roksu wipes his expression from his face.
âCale-hyung, run! Thatâs the humanâs bad look!â Alberuâs eyes widen as he watches the confirmed real Cale bolt back into the hallway and out of the front door. Alberu whips his head back toward the stranger behind him, who is a perfect replica of the Cale who ran like Hell. Cale has an identical twin?? Since when? Why doesn't he go to school?
Roksu levels an emotionless gaze at Alberu. âHello, your highness. Donât mind me.â
Alberu can only watch in astonishment as this stranger walks out of the playroom, with a smooth and deadly gait as he hunts down his twin like a predator would to prey. He recalls the look 'Roksu' gave him and it sends a shiver down the principalâs sonâs spine. That gaze held secrets.
Something about this stranger is even more interesting than the sudden appearance of a twin.
On walks up to him, sitting down in his lap and looking into his eyes. âRoksu-hyung will be back soon, nya!â Hong bounds over and sits next to his sister, grinning widely. Raon huffs and looks at the door. He wants his human to come back.
#Roksu is Cale's lost twin who reunited with the Henituse family at 16. he went to a charter school and speedran his education#which is why he doesn't go to high school with Cale#Roksu didn't want attention from the public so his existence is kept secret from most everyone outside of the family and tight-lipped staff#Cale wanted to skip school that day (he heard Albert would be coming to monitor) and tricked Roksu into dealing with it for him#not that Roksu didn't receive something in return for pretending to be Cale... but now he's going to 'negotiate' a better deal with his twi#anyway that's all I remember about this#hong was going to say 'He thinks Roksu hyung is Cale hyung!' but stopped himself from revealing it in time#kim rok soo#kim roksu#cale henituse#og cale henituse#lcf#lotcf#lout of the counts family#tcf#totcf#trash of the counts family#fic#ughhh I'm not as diligent with my tags as I used to be#tcf raon miru#lcf ohn#tcf hong#yayay#posting old writing so it doesn't rot in my notes app any longer#if I was smarter I would post it on ao3 but I don't really write enough words to bother doing that#not a reblog#alberu crossman#alver crossman#alcale#I put the ship tag but not because it's a ship thing. @nyrarachelle-plays | List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to 10 simblrs whose sims you adore â„â„â„
aw thank you nyra! <3333
ummm i'll do kris!
(was gonna insert a picture but i actually do not have a picture of that man yet since i had to restart my screenshot folder lol)
he doesn't show it well, but he loves being a dad. he was that dad who took a million and one pictures of his kids. if you stole his wallet you'd find a few photos in there: one of he and jacob at jacob's graduation, an old high school yearbook picture of rory, and one of the he and rory when she was about five. (that's his favorite one)
he loves him a good bottle of wine. he's a bit of a wine snob. he has a pretty solid collection at home. some he'll never drink because he paid a pretty penny for, others that are high-end but still cheap enough for him to indulge in regularly. don't hand him white wine though. he WILL pour it out. red only.
kris does not shift. he doesn't enjoy it. he'd often refrain from going on pack runs all his life. he doesn't like that he can hear as well as he can. he's unintentionally eased dropped on a few conversations that he didn't wanna hear. the only thing he enjoys about it is the extended lifespan and not getting sick too often.
kris doesn't have many friends. in fact, the only people he'd consider to be his friends are lucian, cale, and amelia. (the dads like to get together and hang out on weekends. cale has tried to get him to come golfing a few times. he hates golfing.) he and lucian are the best of friends, but he is/was very close to amelia too. he's always considered her to be like a sister. which is why they pick at each other so often with her alive again. right back to it.
he's wanted another kid for a while. he always imagined he would have a huge family. at least five or six kids. he'd have them with his wife or they'd adopt- he didn't care. of course once he got placed with keahu he realized that dream would stay a dream. he still thinks about it sometimes though. although considering his current relationship with rory, he knows it wouldn't be the best idea.

every memory is a drop in the ocean by wastefulreverie
Izuku's memory was heavy. It felt like he'd been asleep for a very long time even though he was fairly certain that he'd just met All Might on a rooftop. They said that he was a student at UA High School and that he'd been hit with a memory erasure quirk, but that couldn't be right? Izuku was quirkless. Even All Might said he'd never be a hero.
Or: Izuku has amnesia and doesn't understand how he's a student at UA.
Nothing So Bright by Strix4
"They are ready, in a way that breaks their teacherâs heart. Totally unsurprised. Almost instinctive in how fast theyâd responded, like previous attacks have turned âbattle readyâ into âmuscle memoryâ. Theyâre fourteen and fifteen-years-old and impossible to look at for how much it hurts." Or, the true power of Class 1-A is their ability to change people.

The Man and The Nothingness by souliebird
He doesnât want to be Nothing.
He runs and runs and runs and he doesnât even know where he is going. Not until there is gravel under his feet and heâs flying past pristine hedges.
Wayne Manor is in front of him and Tim forces his legs to move Faster.
He knows he shouldnât . He knows he shouldnât - but between Nothing and Batman, Batman will probably win
---
Or: Tim Drake is 10 years old and really, really, needs an adult.
A Meditation on Railroading by eggmacguffin
When he ends up ditched in Atlanta after a fight with his dad, Tim decides to do the only sensible thing: Tell no one and make the 800 mile journey back to Gotham on his own.
Because the "call Batman when you're in trouble" rule only applies when he's Robin, right?

people were mean to you but i always thought you were cool by suzikiblu
âWhat are your feelings on the mutant threat?!â one of the reporters shouts, and Steve just looks at him.
âI think anyone threatening mutants should be stopped,â he says calmly, and the swarm of reporters explodes, a dozen camera flashes going off at once.

(explicit)
âWei Ying,â Lan Wangji says again. His blood is buzzing in his ears, a rush like the ocean and maybe, terrifyingly, like hope. âWhat did you think I meant?â
âI thought,â says Wei Ying. He falters. âI thought,â he says, unblinking, still staring at Lan Wangjiâs shoulder, âthat you meant. You. You and me.â

poison in my veins (sacrific in my bones) by cywscross
'It's a poison that targets those with Ancient Powers,' Vitality admits helplessly.
'The more Ancient Powers you have, the more it affects you,' The Super Rock informs him solemnly.
'Basically, you're extra fucked without a cure,' Water tells him bluntly.
"Hm," Cale says.

I am incredibly picky about books I read and I trust very few people to give me recommendations because my taste is very specific.
And the thing is if I try a book I don't like, I end up not reading for long periods of time because in my mind I'm obligated to finish what I started before starting something else, but I'm never in the mood to read it, so I don't read.
I need a summary. I need something to grab my interest. It tells me a lot about the book. Know what I do when I see those lists? I scroll past them. On some occasions I'll go over to goodreads and look up summaries-- usually only if there's other books on the list that I liked, because it tells me others might have similar taste.
When you could just tell me.
Want some actual reccs with summaries? (Under the cut)
:readmore:
These are all mlm, unfortunately I've had trouble finding other queer identities in books i really like (i have thoughts as to why but in not going into them)
Willfull Machines by Tim Floreen: mlm. Sci fi. The president's son in a not too distant future is closeted and attending a prep? School (if I remember correctly his father's politics dont line up... but this also isn't the memorable part of the plot). He meets and falls for the new guy. An escaped AI has also escaped and is terrorizing the country, though MC is less focused on that. To not spoil too much, though, it deals with artificial intelligence, robots/androids, and a really interesting question about what it free will means and what makes us human. Read if you're in the mood for some cute gay, some action, some robotics, and some philosophy. TW: Suicide mentions (this is in the goodreads summary so ill say it-- MC had a recent suicide attempt. I haven't read it in a while, but I think this is just background, never something explored as a scene)
The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich: gunna be honest this isn't the greatest written. But it is incredibly fun to read and I still really recommend it. I read this in one sitting, breifly interrupted going from the car from the library to my bed. Mlm. Fairly light tone? Uses a lot of fun tropes-- know those posts on here that make use of roles like Main Character and Love Interest as if those are characters? This plays with that. So a spy organization has raised these kids to spy on people they predict will be influential by romancing and marrying them early on. They pit 2 of these kids that they've raised and trained against each other. One is the Boy Next Door, one is the Bad Boy. Whoever wins marries the girl, whoever looses gets killed (no idea why they can't just compete again. But high stakes.) Main character, the boy next door, starts to fall for the bad boy, as they start to hang out outside of the show they're putting on. Ends up turning them both on the entire system. Enemies to lovers I guess?
Openly Straight by Bill Koinsberg: YA, mlm. Lighter tone. Not super serious but like yknow, ya gay romance with character development. MC has been out for years and is tired of being the gay kid, so when he goes to an all boys boarding school, he doesn't tell anyone he's gay. Unfortunately it's not as easy as he thought, and as he starts to get to know some of the guys on his (i think it's socvor) team, and his family comes to visit, it threatens to come out. Deals with internalized homophobia in a really nuanced way. Has a sequel from the pov of MC's love interest which is also excellent
More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera: mlm, dark tone, very good but intense and a huge tw for suicide. I don't consider it a trigger for myself and it led to not being able to sleep that night. But still one of my favorites. Also a not too distant future, where they have a medical procedure for wiping memories. So MC is dealing with his father's recent suicide and has a girlfriend. He meets this guy who he becomes friends with and thinks is gay, and in the process realizes he might like him. When he doesn't, he's so hurt he wants his memories changed. Spoilers: as it turns out this has happened before-- falling in love and getting memories taken away, and he discovers the memories that he's lost.
Those are the ones I really like, are queer, and aren't already fairly talked about on here (like Gentleman's Guide to Vice & Virtue I love but I'm sure someone else has summarized)
yâall really recommend books like: title, there are gay characters, enemies to lovers, young adult, written by poc
not once do i ever see a summary
