So apparently they still are called thongs in Australia. My grandfather was born and raised in Australia...that might explain it....It was yet another Heat family Australianism that worked its way into our midwestern vocabulary...

Every once in a while I am slammed with the reality that flip flops used to be called thongs....

#the fact that my grandfather referred to his overshoes as rubbers was an unending source of embarrasment for me #also I was never grounded I was campused #which honestly having my friends hear my mom say: you can't go you are campused was worse than not going to whatever it was #also hassock was a footstool I dunno don't @ me someone transplanted an aussie to the ND prairie and weird shit happened
