remember everyone you gotta do the pre snow day rituals to ensure school and work is cancelled tomorrow.
#in retrospect i feel like that one was a parent's method of tiring their excited kids out#i live in the northern midwest now but i grew up in the southern midwest#where I live now they never got snow days. bc there's always snow#one time before a snow storm i referenced the snow day eve rituals and none of the ppl from here had any idea what I was talking about#just goes to show how regional these things are#where even in a place with a lot of snow#kids don't hope for a snow day#where I'm from we'd have indoor recess if it was below freezing#but here you spend twenty mins of the school day getting seven year olds in and out of snow pants#my partner has a story from elementary school when they and the other rambunctious kids climbed up the huge pile of snow (from plowing the#parking lot) to the ROOF OF THE SCHOOL#apparently the teachers had to bribe them to come back down. bc what're you gonna do#go after the kids on the roof by climbing up the snow pile?? hell no. easier to bribe the gremlins#playground culture#kid lore
