Wait if you think about it… there’s a few parallels there between Dovewing and Moonwatcher. Both are socially stunted individuals that get manipulated by an older mentor figure they trusted, they were isolated in childhood because of circumstances out of their control, and because of that isolation, their “family” and community don’t really accept them, also they have sensory based powers they have to keep secret (which further isolates them) and most importantly- they are both misophonia soldiers 🫡

Rough rewrite ideas for Arc One:
The dragonets of destiny have 10-15 dragons watching over them. Teaching them the different cultures of the kingdoms, battle tactics, hunting, etc. So when Scarlet comes through and kills them all... mildly traumatizing watching 15 of your only parental figures get killed :D
Kestrel 'killing' Sky is touched on far more. Especially with how Glory's egg looks eerily similar to Sky's+Peril's
On that note, Glory's egg was found in an orphanage in Possibility. It looked red(Rainwing eggs can be any color- they do have a slight opal-like swirl to them) and in the dim light, Webs Conch thought it was a Skywing egg.
That being said, Glory's color changing scales are put to use quite quickly in the TOP(Talons of Peace)'s Holding place for the dragonets.
Yeah... Rainwings aren't 'lazy' anymore. They stay in the jungle, have a camp set up for refugees from the war, and just kinda... avoid the whole thing.
(Not my problem buddy) kind of thinking.
And as such the whole Nightwing thing has changed to affect the Sandwings! Instead of staying on a FUCKING VOLCANO, they stayed on the peninsula that they called home back in Darkstalker's time.
But. whoopsie. Erosion and stuff. So they have to expand into the Sand kingdom, further destabilizing Blaze's control(The main reason why she doesn't just take the crown- she's fighting two wars. The Nightwings are pushing toward a valuable stretch of oasis heavy land.)
Blister's smart now! Less obviously evil.
Scrapping child soldiers because nope not writing that today! Even Blister has standards.
Orca is a main side character in book two- Queen Coral is a villain and is framed as one, and she struggles to hold things together. Not perfect, but trying.
Eventually, both are goaded on by Blister to fight for the crown. Orca is about to win, when she 'trips' over a misplaced something. And gets stabbed by Queen Coral. Tsunami is horrified that the most comforting Big sister figure that she knew is now dead. Because of her mother.
Aaand that's when the Mudwing/Skywing raid happens on the Palace. They escape, but not before a hushed goodbye to Anemone and Orca giving Tsunami and Anemone one of her trinkets/necklaces/earrings/things
Glory's struggle with the Guardians mistreating her is the focus of the third book.
Her adopted big bro Jambu(?) helps her work through it. Oh also Deathbringer/Jambu for life, convince me otherwise.
We get introduced to Kinkajou and Moon here- Moon is an escaped refugee who's mother helped the Sandwing's with information. They got exiled.
Glory is horrified and starts to realize what the war does to dragons
She eventually gives the council the big idea of letting the Nightwings into the forest.
They accept.
Book four is all about trying to make that happen! Starflight enters the Kingdom as a spy, fighting on the Sand Kingdom's side(Thorn begs Sunny, but Starflight steps up instead as a more passing nightwing.
He doesn't know about the rainforest truce. The dragonets got split up after book three in the chaos.
Shenanigans ensue.
Buut eventually the Nightwings start slowly heading to the Rainforest.
How does Starflight get blinded?
He was always blind
Book five- Sunny time!
Sandwing politics. and stuff.
Scavengers? Ew.
Sunny gets kidnapped by Burn. But Burn is kinda busy, so Sunny is left to wander. She reads scrolls. lots of them(Mainly due to missing Starflight)
And she sees how this has happened before.
Fights for power
Killing innocent dragonets.
Corrupt Kings/Queens.
And she realizes.
That the system is horrible.
More shenanigans ensue.
Eventually, the three sisters face off. Sunny tries to stop them, but they don't listen.
They all end up dying. Dying for power.
All the other Royalty of all Kingdoms are horrified.
But Sunny leads the example by starting a new way-
Democracy!
Book cuts off at Jade Mountain. All best buds are together.
And the idea for Jade Mountain academy is born.
Whoo, that one was a doozy!
Hope you enjoy!

How Tui Failed Moonwatcher’s character (written before book 15, but my point still stands)
An old rant I wrote a few years back
So, Moonwatcher is probably one of my most favorite characters in Wings of Fire. I adore her design, her character, and everything else. I felt horrible for her and the things she went through.
Moon is one of the least liked main characters in the fandom as she's thought to be a Mary Sue. Here's what I think.
Moon is not a Mary Sue. At first.
Moon is books 6 and 7 and a little bit of 8 is still shown to have her own flaws and weaknesses, like how she has trust issues. As we know, she didn't know if she could consider Kinkajou a friend even with the ability of reading her mind.
And that all starts with the mental trauma her mom gave her.
Now, I like Secretkeeper and I certainly don't blame her for doing what she did. She did not want Moon to live in that nightmare of a home where she could die of starvation or the volcano.
But still. She left a child. A newborn child. And as soon as Moon hatches, she plagues her thoughts of isolation and how no one is to be trusted.
And, with Moon living in the rainforest, always hiding if anyone even came near her, there is a VERY high probability that she could have witnessed the rainwing kidnappings.
So, Moon was mentally traumatized literally THE MOMENT SHE HATCHED.
Next, Jade Mountain.
Moon finally has all the time in the world to spend time with her mother, but what happens instead?
She's dropped off in a completely strange world filled with strange dragons DESPITE the fact that she has absolutely 0 idea on how to even speak with others after living in isolation her whole life.
So, the night wings won't accept her because she's not enough of a nightwing and the other tribes won't accept her because she IS one. Not exactly the best situation to be in.
Not to mention she's been haunted with nightmares of Jade Mountain falling for MONTHS. And then she meets Darkstalker.
She's manipulated by him because he says they are the same. Moon is tricked into thinking he has good deeds.
Moon has major trust issues, but Darkstalker tricking her into trusting him says a lot on how good of a manipulator he is.
So, we've established Moon is a character with horrible trauma, trust issues, and separation anxiety. She keeps huge secrets from her friends out of fear of losing them because she's lost in her own self hatred.
Not a Mary Sue.
And then, book 8.
In book 8, Moon is a little.. harsh to Peril. A lot of people think this makes Moon unlikable, but it's just Moon showing more flaws and how she's not perfect.
And then she goes off to steal Darkstalker's scroll. Betraying her friends' trust. Going off on her own. Despite promising them.
OK, just Moon showing more flaws and showing how much Darkstalker has manipulated her.
Plus, she realizes how horrible he is and decides not to let him go.
So, she gets a pretty good arc and realizes that Darkstalker isn't the safest dragon.
Hurray!
And then, books 9 and 10
In book 9, she's shown to be weary of Darkstalker, but still completely trusts him. But we just assume that it's the spell Darkstalker put on everyone.
But, in book 10, it's revealed that she didn't have a spell on her. So.. what happened to all of that realization that Darkstalker was bad? Did it just disappear??
In fact, she trusts him enough to fly with him to the rainforest and collect all the night wings from Glory! What!? Why??
After all Glory has done for the night wings, why would she just let Darkstalker do that?
And when Qibli finds her in the library, she seems completely happy and content, like absolutely nothing is wrong. Her and Qibli do have a short and wholesome moment, but she just seems so... one sided now.
The best thing I can compare her to is the Fierceteeth to Clearsight clones. She was amazing in the past, but every change that comes, she progressively becomes more and more one sided and different (in a bad way).
And in book 10, she's basically just used for a plot device, not treated like an actual character like before!!
The third arc
In the 3rd arc, Moon is just a complete plot device. She has no more character. She's still seen to be anxious and secretive, but that's all she is.
I was hoping her arc would involve her realizing it's OK to trust these characters and she'd be more confident and capable, but she's just so bland in the 3rd arc that the only thing I remember her doing is coming up with ideas and delivering prophecies.
I legit cannot think of a SINGLE memorable thing she did in the 3rd arc. Not ONE.
Moonwatcher was my favorite character the moment I read book 6. I found her personality relatable, I loved her design, and thought she had an interesting backstory.
And Tui did a GREAT job creating Moonwatcher as a character.
But as the books went on, it felt like Tui just stopped caring for Moon as a character and more as a plot device.
So, ya. Here's an analysis as to how I think Tui failed Moonwatcher as a character.
Thank you for reading, and have a great day.

PLEASE TALK ABOUT YOUR WARRIORS/WOF OCS?? I wanna draw them!!! I love these awful books!!!
:D
More below the cut !!!
Alright so!!! I actually had posts for each of my OCs before I accidentally deleted my WOF sideblog and never remade it :’3 So uhhhh heres some pics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shiver and Dreamy are half siblings on their Dad’s side. Their father was a nightwing who fell in love with an Icewing and convinced her to run away, but she lived on an island in the outskirts of the volcano in hiding. She regretted her actions, but couldn’t leave because she was in Exile for fraternizing with the enemy. They had their first egg together, Shiver, when she was still somewhat sane. She was slowly driven crazy by the heat and isolation, and Shiver often had to take care of herself.
Their father actually needed up falling in love with another nightwing, Silvertongue, and had an egg with her. However, he realized his mistake, and it a fit of panic he stole the egg from Silver and gave it to Shiver’s mother, convincing her it was her own egg in her somewhat insane state. Still, when it hatched, Shiver acted more like a mother to Dream than their real mother ever did- and their father no longer came around.
So, Shiver and Dream need up running away, and currently live sort of as nomads, stopping wherever they want and avoiding being caught by anyone who might wish to hurt them for their species or her hybrid status.
Silvertongue is a pure nightwing that believes that her only egg (dreameater) is dead, and became somewhat bitter after that. When she was young she found an animus touched object; a small, silver tongue piercing that makes people listen to what she says, and can influence them to believe her words are truth or to do as she says. It does not force, and if theyre strong willed, it doesnt make them, it just helps to persuade. I’m considering having her fall in love with a Raining but uhhhh ill cross that bridge when i come to it idk
Oracle is another hybrid of mine, being a nightwing/seawing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
{these are old images, bear with me}
When they were just a small hatching, their parents took them to the searing queen and begged her to let them stay and not to hurt their hatchling. She agreed, but instead of killing the hatching, she cut out all of it’s webbing and it’s eyes and cast them into the sea.
Because of their half nightwing status, however, they have the power to see what is- it’s not the future, or the past, its simply an ability to know what is. This allowed them to live to adulthood in isolation and fear of there dragons, and eventually make home in a small sea cavern. They’ve become sort of an urban legend- some say if you find a certain cave in the sea, and bring the creature there an offering, they can give you the truth. They now have eyes made of sea glass and adorn themselves in jewels and other things they’ve collected.
Gem  is a rainwing that somehow ended up in with a clutch of Mudwings (so, not a hybrid, but raised as a Mud). He was raised along with hem, and despite knowing how different Gem is, they consider him as part of their troop. His bigwigs is Everglade, but the rest of his siblings are Toad, Cicada, Sawgrass, and Glowfly. He fought alongside them in the war, and in going so, lost his front left leg near the elbow along with a myriad of other scars. He now lives in peace with his siblings in the mud kingdom. Everyone is aware of him, but he’s nice, and a great fighter, so everyone’s pretty chill.
Tumblr media
Aloe is a sandwing/seawing hybrid that I haven’t actually developed much? She’s a healer though!
Meerkat is Aloe’s GF, and is pure sanding, but lost half her tail in an accident when she was young. She now works as an author and librarian, and somewhat of an inventor.
Pollywog, Catfish, and Cooter are freshwater Seawings- or, Swampwings as I like to call them. They’re essentially like.. inland, hillbilly seawings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
{cooter isnt done lol}
I’m not entirely sure what their relationship is yet… poly? Siblings? Polly and Cat as siblings and Cooter is a while GF of one of them??? Dunno! I do know what Polly was kidnapped when they were younger, but escaped, which is why they have so many scars.
Azalea, last but not least, is pure Icewing- however, they don’t have any ice powers. This is because his brother, Floe (doesnt belong to me), is a Frostscales- much like how Peril is a fire scales. Their brother ‘stole’ all the ice from him while in the egg, which leaves him a funny pink color instead of the usual ice blue that Icewings are. His original name was Tear, named after the only pink object in the ice kingdom- open flesh.
Tumblr media
Because of this ridicule, and the fact they he couldn’t really bear the cold, he fled the Ice kingdom and learned that he actually really likes gardening. He also decided to rename himself Azalea after the flower and start his life over.
Aaaand i think thats all my dragons!
Brittlebones is the only warrior OC i ever really use anymore, honestly. She’s a large black oriental shorthair, who used to be a Shadowclan medicine cat, but was a warrior for most of her life.  She ended up leaving shadowclan with Mourningdove (a Windclanner i think? Maybe Thunderclan), and two other of my friends OCs i cant remember right now. She’s now a medic for the new clan they plan on starting, who’s a pack of Nomads until they can find a place to settle. Unfortunately, most of my pics of her got deleted, so the one one i Have lest is this horrible cropped pic :’3
Tumblr media
If you have any more questions, please, feel free to contact me!!!!!! I love talking about them :’)
Also maybe use my main @rhi-draws-things so i don't clutter this blog with non-sploon stuff
