I'm watching the original buffy the vampire slayer film and it is so outrageously bad in places (many places) that I'm laughing at the 'scary' bits and staring confusedly at the 'funny' bits, but sandwiched between those is, for instance, an unsettling scene where you're watching buffy get ready for bed at night and finally lie down and you can't tell if she knows yet whether she's lying down on a vampire or whether that's going to be a horrible realisation for her within the next second, and then he hands her the teddy bear and she takes it - and the fact that it must be a dream is somehow even worse.

...and for buffy's watcher we have donald sutherland of president snow and mr bennet fame, doing an unexpectedly good job at being the right kind of creepy. given the many givens.

it's... both better and markedly worse than I expected. I'm less than halfway through and really trying not to expect much from the rest of it.
