one more thing for the road: i find it very odd that ppl will draw this hard line about 'i'm not going to engage in ANY content from [x] transphobic author and if anyone else does then they're just not as principled as me and i'll mock them'.... and then continue to engage with content from, a different, but also transphobic, author.
#i simply find it unfair and childish and truculent to hold others to a standard of scrutiny which you do not hold yourselves to. 1)#2)... i find this a deleterious way to engage? i think it's fine to engage critically. i don't think you should have to place a disclaimer#anytime you do necessarily#3) i again....find it very childish...that when this content is posted the person will be . shocked? that transphobic blogs pop up#in their notes? i know this is a very tailored and curated form of social media more than others. but#i kind of think you should probably expect that and it's rather naiive to...not. if you want to avoid it there is actually a way to do that#and it's finding different authors to engage with. anyways#4) yes! i do actually find it upsetting#when hilmans is lauded for her 'dazzling and clear vision of the world'#when that vision included regarding the fight for transgender rights as a 'barbaric fad'. so.
