in a New Camelot mood (as always) after discussing it today and one of my favorite things about Sierra Simone's writing is her tendency to build up this ULTRA DOM whose submissives see him as like a god and then you get into his mind and he's like A Big Loser, Actually

(and if there's one thing I love as a reader, it's an intimidating man who's revealed to have the emotional stability of a seventh grade girl)

like for two books you get Greer and Embry being like "Ash was the center of my universe, loving and cruel, and he was the leader of the free world, and he held our hearts and bodies in his hands"

and then you finally get Ash's POV in the final book and he's like "when I was a little boy I was SO into Labyrinth, because I wanted to fuck David Bowie and Jennifer Connolly, and I was SUCH a Jareth fanboy, and then I went to army! And then I ran for president!"
