that would be the dream, as long as whoever meddled with My Father's Dragon to make its story Like That isn't involved. Still a bit salty about how that one turned out.

(Whoever wrote it somehow managed to make My Father's Dragon worse as an adaptation than the first HTTYD film was despite actually keeping the premise of their source material intact and they didn't even have the decency to make their script have an equally good story to the thing they were supposed to be adapting.)

what will it take for them to make an adaptation of the books how have they gone this far without going back to the source material

#Like seriously elmer is supposed to be That Kid in a math problem why tf did they nerf his arsenal #It wouldve been so simple too. First half or even THIRD: find the dragon. Second half: get back #what's all this nonsense about volcanoes and third act breakups #They didn't even eat alarming amounts of tangerines #The first two books were somehow both cozy and adventurous at the same time and the film managed to make it neither #Why do films have so much trouble with characters whose primary traits are their resourcefulness #They coulve even kept the arc of at first Elmer just sees the dragon as a means to an adventure but eventually they are friends #Like seriously why did they waste so much time in the beginning.#Mom runs a store. Sure fine #Elmer brings a cat home but mom doesn't allow it NO REASON NEED BE GIVEN none of that landlady nonsense is necessary #It isn't some sort of cardinal sin to not want your child to bring a stray cat into the house seriously #like in the original im pretty sure Elmer's mom beats him it's not that hard to make her a better mother #Then Elmer takes some supplies from the store and runs away to wild island you can even give him treasure on the way back to pay for them #That's like ten minutes tops even IF you add a few seconds of him looking wistfully at birds in flight #Sorry i have Thoughts about the My Father's Dragon adaptation #The animation was the only good part everything else was various shades of mediocre #im not saying the My Father's Dragon books are masterpieces or lighting in a bottle or anything they're fun little books for kids #But they tried to make it a generic buddy adventure film and im sorry my father's dragon is NOT generic.
