~ timeskip to lost boys christmas party ~

Originally the plan had been to keep things with her new boyfriend under wraps from the majority of the group until New Years Eve, to give Tink the chance to ensure she could actually put up with the man before bringing him around to all of her friends. But then she found out John was bringing his own girlfriend to the Christmas gathering at the lost boy’s place and like fucking hell was she going to show up alone after that. Truthfully, she hadn’t intended to show up at all once she heard that - but between Sam’s insistence that she had to come and Wendy’s encouragement that it wouldn’t be the same without her there, the blonde had realized skipping out would only be letting the Darling boy win. And like hell was she going to allow that to happen either.

So here she was, twenty minutes into the night after showing up with Smee and announcing him to be her boyfriend to the entire lost boys’ group. There had been a lot of obvious confusion, but Tink had ignored it all, sticking by Oliver’s side and refusing to give into any of the questioning at first. But once it had seemed everyone settled down some, no longer staring so openly and instead having gone back to their own business, the blonde excused herself to go fetch them each a drink. And while she had known the moment she stepped away from the boy she was bound to be attacked by someone, she really hadn’t been expecting that person to be Wendy of all people. “Hey,” the fairy greets, forcing a casual air as she grabs a few plastic cups to start making their drinks. “You want me to make you something too? I’m probably just giving Oliver a beer, but I’m thinking something stronger for myself.” The use of Smee’s first name was thrown out on purpose, out of hope that they might seem more serious together than they actually were considering she almost never actually called him that to his own face.

Wendy didn't exactly expect the offer of her detective work to be so easily accepted, but she took it as a good sign that Tink was still reluctantly willing to take her help. If anyone could get John's side of the story without seeming like having any ulterior motive to help the blonde, it was her, after all. Wendy had never thought the two might be working together, much less sleuthing behind her brother's back in the name of helping one of their love lives that was completely unrelated to Peter, but here they were, sharing a bottle of wine, doing exactly that.

Though she'd assumed neither of her brothers had much success in the romance department, it seemed obvious now that she could say Michael was most definitely the unluckier of the two. No matter how much he thought things with Sam might've turned out differently, she knew it stung far worse knowing that he had abandoned him for someone else. "Well, it certainly didn't help that he was going after a girl with a rather large internet presence," she pointed out. "I don't think he was prepared for it to end, regardless how serious they'd said it was going to be. And, that he did want to be serious with someone, just not Michael." Of course she'd known all about what had happened on Halloween: she'd been there when her brother had come down the stairs. "No, I know. I was shocked--I saw him when he came down after changing his shirt. He's been in a strange mood ever since. I don't even know what to say to Sam without feeling like I'm imposing, since I know most of it from Michael, but I feel awful for him, too."
