OH yeah! no btw I rescind almost all of my previous tags LMAO.
In the far depths and dark reaches of the back of my mind, I was constantly thinking "Oh !!! This is the previous head of the House of the Hearth ..!!!" and I KNEW that Freminet once mentioned her.
And I realized that Arlecchino being a child under her care, and killing her by the time she was - presumably - a teenager or young adult meant that this was actually a really recent historical event.
But for some reason the second this scene appeared on my screen, those two thoughts evaporated into thin air. For some reason I was overcome with the subconscious notion that this happened a long time before the current events of Fontaine...
It's genuinely JUST because of the choice of characters. Like what do you mean the mechanical puppet created by a god after the cataclysm nearly 500 years ago, the non-human Crimson Witch of Flames - losing her lover during the cataclysm over 500 years ago, Il Capitano the strongest thing known to man (according to Childe) which... c'mon, gang, CERTAINLY means he can't be human, and the LITERAL-- I don't even know KING??? prince? Grand sage??? of Khaenri'ah himself, were ALL THERE to witness Arle's inheritance of the role of Knave and no body else is on screen .
Tumblr media
I am going positively feral at the implications of this scene.
