Reactions to 100YQ Chapter 65 if you’ve seen it?
Spoilers!
I can only imagine this being about one thing, so I’ll get straight to that.
If you’re expecting me to be mad with the new ship developments, I’m not. Honestly, I don’t mind the idea of Edolas Nalu and Gruvia getting together and having kids, even though I’m not particularly hyped over either ship. In fact, I’d prefer this to be the way we end up with the Next Generation sequel we may or not be getting.
Of course, this does somewhat put into question how we interpret Earthland Nalu. This has been on my mind as I’ve thought to make a post regarding Edolas Albis post-Tenrou but never actually done anything with the idea. Generally speaking, the Edolas relationships aren’t opposites of their Earthland counterparts in status, so much as opposites in dynamic.
Gruvia, for example, was one-sided on both Earthland and Edolas when Team Natsu went through Anima. However, it was one-sided for different reasons. On Earthland, it’s because Gray didn’t accept Juvia. In Edolas, it’s because Juvia didn’t accept Gray.
Now, we know that Natsu and Lucy have a very close relationship, but on Earthland it hasn’t taken an overtly romantic turn as of yet. (I only say as of yet because anything can still happen.) Is this a sign that Nalu on Earthland will become romantic in the future or is this a red herring, a la Nack and Lucia? I can’t say for certain as of now but I’m personally leaning towards the latter. We’ll have to wait and see where Mashima takes this.
As for my thoughts on the rest of the chapter, I think the twist of going to Edolas is a cool one. I’ve been wondering how they’ve been handling everything since they left and I know I’m not alone. It will be interesting to see how Edolas has changed and how they all escape without magic. This might be my favorite new development in the sequel since the reveal of Touka as an Exceed.
