I think Mother Righteous might actually be the worst villain I've ever seen
#x-men#comics#comic books#marvel#immortal x-men#or at least the Kieron Gillen version#we've gone 17 issues and numerous tie-ins merely to arrive at#just another version of Mr. Sinister but without the personal connection to Cyclops/Charles/Maddie#and she has become a perfect storm of anti-interest#she has explicitly no motivation for anything she does (her goal was all programmed in and she pursues it without reflection)#and instead of holding any feelings about how her creator designed her the audience is denied any sort of conflict or pathos#by the author's insistence that she is a hollow force of arbitrary evil#neither is there intrigue through which the reader might theorize about her methods and short term objectives#the basic structure of the story precludes this by always having her act with information we are never given#except for when she acts directly contradiction to any information we do have#we can't even look to her as a dark mirror of the protagonists and wonder at how they will or will not thwart her because she never#even interacts with other characters except to reveal she already won off-page while you weren't reading
