05•30•21 - St. George & Vegas 🎲
We really had planned to have a nice day in St. George on Sunday, but those plans got thwarted because of - what do you know - COVID. Always.
My family planned a trip to Hawaii for the first week of June, and for some reason, Hawaii's regulations about visiting are insane. They require a 72-hour negative Covid test, but it can't just be from anywhere - it has to be from one of their approved testing partners. My 72-hour window fell on this Sunday, but the closest testing center was literally in Vegas. Perfect. So we had to rearrange the day a bit.
Beach, Kena and I bought some roller skates and intended to go roller skating and take some cute vintage pictures... Easier said than done. The roller skates hurt my feet so bad, and also, we were so scared to fall and hurt ourselves. It's risky business, and none of us had any protective gear, so we had to play it extra safe and slow. We're much better ice skaters - yikes.
Then we went to hike the crack near Dixie Rock. It's like a quarter mile super tight slot canyon, and at first, I didn't think I would do it because it looked way too claustrophobic. But I went for it in the end, and it was fine. I can't remember if I've done it before? But it's definitely possible. Then we hiked up to Dixie Rock, but it was so freaking hot haha. We desperately needed some water.
Brayden, Beach and I parted ways with Kena and Glen at that point, because Kena had to go home to work, and then the three of us drove down to Vegas to make my Covid test appointment. Once that was taken care of, we had lunch/dinner? at the Cheesecake Factory at Caesars Palace, and did some window shopping at the Forum Shops.
Then we were looking for a new activity to try, and ended up at Area 15. I don't really know how to describe it. It's so loud and like an emo-club in there, and there are a lot of art pieces and exhibits to see. They sell rave outfits, have axe throwing, ziplining, and a special little supermarket that has a bunch of hidden stuff inside (it was sold out or we would have tried it). We went to the Van Gogh experience, and once you were inside, all the noise from the outside chaos somehow disappeared. It was a 360 experience of some of his art and quotes, and it was nice. I love, love, love Starry Night!
Finally, we ended the night with some ice cream before driving back to our hotel in St. George. What a day, haha.
