Thinking about a Reader who ends up having Scary Dog Privileges with Ghost without meaning to. It just happened.
Then they have to deal with the fact that this comes with duties too.
Tags: civilian!reader, gn!reader, mostly fluff, a bit suggestive, smug!Ghost, smooth!Ghost. 800 words.
Part 2. Part 3.
When Ghost is reluctant to getting sutured in Medical after accidentally opening his stitches, grumbling he can do it himself, who does the nurse call for? Yeah, you.
She could stand her ground, after all she's used to dealing with big, whiny men, but it's much more fun to knock on your door and smile at your bewildered gaze and gaping mouth when she explains the situation in two sentences.
"Ghost's being difficult, mind taking over?" "I'm sorry, what the hell does this have to do with me?" "C'm'on, everyone on base knows he's got a soft spot for you. Don't you want to make my job easier?"
You roll your eyes and slam your hands on your desk as you get up. Groaning as you walk past her— "I'm doing this for you, nothing else, got it?"
Mumbling to yourself "you've got to be kidding me" as you barge into the sick bay. Ghost is coolly seated at the end of a bed, large as life, casual clothes as black as his mask and— oh. You weren't told the wound was on his thigh— you weren't warned that he didn’t have pants on. You can’t help it, your eyes go down, down, your lingering gaze and your flustered silence forming a confession louder than words.
A noise — a scoff or a grunt, you’re not sure — emanates from him, breaks your trance, makes you look up. The amusement in his gaze tells you he noticed your oggling— of course he did. Nothing gets past the Ghost, and you've been remarkably unsubtle. Despite the mask, you swear you can make out the smug smirk on his lips. His cockiness reignites your irritation. Annoyance making you bolder than you really are, you charge at him, crossing the distance between you two in a stride, stopping close— too close. He doesn't back off.
"What's wrong with you?" you snarl. "Nothin'," he retorts, imperturbable.
It's actually the first time you’re overlooking him. You may be enjoying it a bit too much. Nevermind the fact that you've had to wedge yourself between his parted legs to get there.
You frown, unconvinced by his answer.
“Did Soap contaminate you?”
Bargaining to be cleared out earlier was the Scotsman's trademark.
“Johnny throws a fit cos he hates feeling useless. That's not what I'm doing.”
A smirk stretches your lips.
“Oh, no? I'm sure your reasons are much more noble.”
“Doesn't matter. Got what I wanted anyway.”
He's way too self-satisfied for a man in his underwear.
You throw an unequivocal look in the direction of his injury.
“What you wanted? A still open wound?”
“You.”
He replied without missing a beat, as confident as usual. It is both alluring and aggravating.
“And your idea of wooing me is making me upset?”
You don't add “because if it is, that's really fucking stupid” out loud, but you’re sure he got the message through your tone.
“Nah. But you're more honest when you’re angry. Gutsier.”
You only realize he slipped his index and middle fingers in your trouser loops when he sharply tugs at them. Off balance, you steady yourself by catching his shoulders.
Taking advantage of the strip of bare skin between your shirt and bottoms, the pads of his thumbs idly stroke your hip bones. The contact sends electricity through you, shivers of pleasure running down your sides.
“Ghost,” you start, severe, trying not to let the effect his touch has on you show in your voice.
“Simon,” he counters, surly. “Told ya it's Simon when we're alone, didn't I?”
He did, but you didn’t think he was serious. If that's what it takes to get him to listen… you’ll play by his rules.
“Simon. What's the rest of your brilliant plan? I'm here, but I can’t stitch you up.”
“How ‘bout a deal. I'll stop resisting… for a price.”
You raise an amused eyebrow.
“What kind of price?”
“A kiss.”
You snort. You didn’t believe him capable of something so… puerile.
“With the mask on?”
He doesn't move a muscle to get rid of it.
“Take it off.”
You usually wouldn’t obey what sounds like an order so easily, but it's the first time you get to touch the skull. Slipping two fingers between skin and cloth, you slowly roll up the mask all the way under his nose.
You gently trace the scars surrounding his lips. Then, the second you feel him relax, grip on your hips slackening and intensity of his gaze waning, you grab the bottom of his mask and drag it back down vigorously, making the holes for the eyes land way too low for him to see anything.
“If you thought you'd get a reward for acting out, you've got another think coming.”

‘MV SHOOT’
MDNI 18+
SUMMARY | wonwoo and mingyu invite you over for a 'mv shooting’.
PAIRING | idol!mingyu x fem!reader x idol!wonwoo
CONTENT | threesome, unprotected sex (be safe), dumbification, slight choking, degrading, sub! reader, nipple play, overstimulation
WORDS | 693
A/N | sleepy write before bed. was watching nana tour while doing this lol.
it was quite a surprise when your friends mingyu and wonwoo invited you to their apartment for a 'business project'. saying that they had a song recorded and wanted you to appear in their mv.
they had never mentioned their own song coming out so you naively agreed and hurried to their apartment.
the moment you walked in the door, they both stood next to each other with a matching set outfit folded in mingyu's hands. it took them hoursss to find an outfit that suit both of their tastes. knowing that you'd wear it no matter how skimpy you thought it was just for them made this moment so much more exciting. you, unaware of their intentions, happily took the clothes and went to the bathroom to change.
wonwoo and mingyu waited in the kitchen; one sitting on the stool near the island and the other leaning against the counter. whilst you're trying to be pretty for them, they start to imagine how good you'll look. the dirty thoughts making their muscles tense and veins visibly shown.
the door opens; mingyu almost falls off the chair and wonwoo's legs tremble a bit as he straightens up from the counter. your is hair perfectly sitting on the tiny shirt that is barely hiding any cleavage, the tight high waisted skirt compliments your curves, and the stockings that only go up to your mid-thigh is all so breathtaking. it was perfect. and it was just for them.
you let out a tiny cough of shyness. 'isn't it a bit revealing? won't i get hate comments?' the innocent question makes them put on a smirk. oh, you're about to get the farthest thing away from hate.
‘aw my gorgeous girl,’ mingyu walks closer to you.
'we won't let anyone tell you a single thing, isn't that right woo?' wonwoo nods, his eyes looking up and down your body.
'why don't you head upstairs where we set up the cameras hm?' wonwoo snakes his hands around your waist, pushing you towards the stairs calmly.
'upstairs.?' mingyu looks down at you while you stayed standing at the bottom of stairs confused.
'just follow him, pretty.’ wonwoo pats your head softly. you scurry up the stairs and wonwoo sighs at your skirt revealing hints of your ass after each step you take.
it all happened so fast.
now being on all fours, being pounded behind by mingyu. whilst wonwoo uses your mouth roughly, groaning while your moans vibrate around his cock.
"aren't you a stupid slut hm? really thought we'd let everyone see what's ours?" mingyu brings his thumb to your overly sensitive clit, causing you to jolt closer towards wonwoo.
"is that what you wanted? show our fans your pretty little body?" you shook your head in vigour, your body already shaking from the overstimulation.
"look at her, mingyu. too dumbfucked to even comprehend words." wonwoo grabbed onto your throat, making you stare directly into his fox-like eyes. eyes completely darkened as he took in the sounds of your moans and the fucked out state you were currently in.
"please! t-too.. much..!" the overbearing pleasure is too much that you feel like you're going to break soon.
"t-t-too much" mingyu mocks you, grinning at the way he felt your cunt start to tighten for the third time. wonwoo's hands knead your breasts and pulled at your nipples while mingyu continued to work on your abused pussy, driving you into insensibility of the moment.
"mingyu! ah- wonwoo! please.. c-cant!" The two men only groan at your pleads, steering them more into euphoria. wonwoo pulls you into a messy make out session. you're completely brain fucked, making kissing you even more enjoyable as you can't control your movements.
"you've got it. take it, yea? like we're trained you before." they then switch places so fast, not even a second to breathe from the amount of energy that's being taken from your body.
wonwoo groans as he enters you, making you shiver and moan loudly while holding onto mingyu's biceps. "now let me see the beautiful view i couldn't see before"
there was no chance this was ending soon.

( CODE NAME : LIP WAR. ) woosan x ninth member!f!reader ✶ poly!ateez
──── you and wooyoung get into a small ' argument ' and san gets pulled into the middle of it. you're using the word argument lightly though.
2024 ୨୧ word count : 3.5k ୨୧ warnings : language, semi-overdramatic yn but wooyoung lowkey matches that, lots of kissing, suggestive, mxm ୨୧ mdni
when you woke up this morning, you weren't exactly surprised by the position you were in. you and wooyoung were entangled together, limbs wrapped around each other and the hotel blankets haphazardly and surprisingly still on the bed.
your head rested on wooyoung's chest while his was somewhat resting on top of yours. you could faintly hear his snores from how close he was. your leg was thrown his own which was also slotted between both of yours.
"yah, look at these two," you hear a voice say, but you haven't fully registered who it was that was talking. you heard a voice let out a low chuckle in response before you felt a hand rub up and down your back. the feeling is what officially drew you out of your sleep. turning your head the best you could, you are greeted with the sight of both hongjoong and seonghwa looking down at the two of you. seonghwa had been the one to run his hand down your back.
pulling away from wooyoung slightly, you attempt (a poor attempt but an attempt no less) to pull seonghwa into bed with you. tugging on his hand and a pout on your lips.
"haha, no baby, you and woo need to get up," he says, using his free hand to brush the mess of hair out of your eyes.
"but, oppa–
"hey, don't pull that card on me," he says, his tone a mixture of teasing and seriousness, but the smile on his face tells he's not being serious in his scolding. "we have a schedule today, baby."
"later?" you ask and seonghwa nods before leaning down and kissing up.
"but you and wooyoung need to get up," he says once more before he's moving away from you. you let out a groan before you're turning back over to look at wooyoung who is still dead to the world. must be nice, you think before pulling away from him and sitting up.
your movement caused wooyoung to let out a groan as he began to stir a little. you place both your hands on his cheeks, squishing them as you move his head back and forth. "wooyoung, wake up," you say, voice a little groggy sounding from having just woken up. you saw his eyebrows furrow, but he still didn't open his eyes. "hey! we have a schedule today! wake! up!" you say, moving his head as you talk.
wooyoung lets out another groan as his hand comes up to your own face to try and push you away. "ugh," you say when one of his fingers smash against your nose, and you let go of his face in order to move away from his hand.
"wooyoung," you say, a little annoyed as you rubbed your nose.
"i'm getting up, give me a minute," he mumbles, eyes now open and looking at you as you get out of bed. you move past hongjoong and seonghwa who were still in your hotel room to go to the bathroom. you close the bathroom door behind you as you start to get ready, you can hear your three boyfriends talking to each other before you hear your hotel door open and close.
when you get out of the bathroom, you see hongjoong helping you straighten up your bed. walking over to him, you press a kiss to his cheek with a small 'thank you' as you go over to your clothes.
that's when you notice wooyoung had left without saying anything.
"where did wooyoung go?" you ask, pulling out the outfit your stylist wanted you to wear.
"he went to go get ready," hongjoong said as he sat in one of the hotel chairs as you began to change. you threw your pajamas on the bed before pulling your clothes on. you couldn't believe wooyoung left without saying anything, or even a kiss!
bastard.
"is the fansign all we have today?" you ask, looking over to your captain who was waiting for you while scrolling on his phone.
"yeah, and then we're free to do whatever," hongjoong says as he stands up and walks over to you just as you pull your shirt over your head. hongjoong leans over to grab the necklace your stylist picked out before helping you put it on.
the two of you share a quick kiss before you go and put the rest of your jewelry in. once you're done, you grab your phone and bag before following hongjoong out of your room and down to where the rest of the members are. still salty about wooyoung.
"you look so pretty, baby," san says as you all are in the dressing room for the fansign. san comes up to you and sits next to you when he notices you by yourself. you had just gotten done with your hair and makeup and wanted to relax before the fansign started.
"thank you, sannie," you say, hand running over one of his broad shoulders before you both lean in and kiss each other.
that was the good thing about the public knowing about you and san – you could kiss and act like a couple in front of non-kq staff without the worry of them exposing anything.
when san pulled away you couldn't help but laugh at how your lip gloss had slightly smudged onto his. san licked his lips, tongue darting out and his eyes widened a little by the taste.
"strawberry? is this a new lip gloss?" he asks and you nod your head.
"miran-unnie bought it for me when we hung out and i'm just now getting to try it," you tell him.
just as san was about to say something, a figure appears in your vision before you suddenly feel a weight on your lap. looking down you see wooyoung laid across both yours and san's lap, his head resting comfortably on your thighs.
"what are you guys talking about?" wooyoung ask looking between you and san.
"y/n was telling me about her new lip gloss," san explains as wooyoung looks up at your face.
"what flavor?"
"strawberry," you answer as san's thumb comes up to gently fix the small smudge that your kiss had caused.
"are you gonna let me taste it later?" wooyoung asks, voice lower than what it was so only you three could hear him. you look down at him, his eyes already watching you – watching your lips. you're still upset that he didn't kiss you this morning, but no.
no kisses for wooyoung right now.
"hm, no~" you say teasingly as you watch wooyoung's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. out of the five years you've been dating, you've never truly outright denied wooyoung of a kiss. the two of you have probably kissed the most out of all nine of you. the two of you just liked kissing each other, nothing more to it.
so you denying wooyoung like this surprised not only him, but san as well. wooyoung then sat up, forcing himself in-between you and san as he looked at you like you grew a second head.
"why?" he asks, still not able to believe you. of course, he and the guys have always respected that if you didn't want to be touched or kissed then they wouldn't. but this is still wooyoung we're talking about, he would respect you but still want to know why.
"because~" you say with a shrug before getting up and moving across the room to where mingi and yunho sat.
mingi greeted you with a smile, wrapping his arm around you and bringing you closer to him.
wooyoung turns to san with a confused look, "what's up with her?" he asks and san can only shrug his shoulders in response.
wooyoung had decided that if you wanted to be a little bratty then so could he. if you didn't want to kiss him, that's fine, but he could tell there was more to this than you not wanting him to taste your lip gloss.
no, there was definitely something that you weren't telling him. he ran through the events of this morning to try and figure out if you were actually mad at him or if you were just being overdramatic. it was the latter but he hasn't figured that out yet.
so wooyoung came to the conclusion that two could play at your game. and during the entire fansign, wooyoung made sure you knew he was there. and unfortunately san had unknowingly been dragged into it as any time you got close or went up to san during the fansign, wooyoung would make sure to come in-between the two of you.
now why did wooyoung drag san into this? well because he knew how attached you and san were to each other. wooyoung never really wanted to admit it, but he knew san was something similar to your first love. the two of you started dating first, you opened up to san a lot more quicker – all of this kind of boiled down to why you even picked to go public with san when the company had told you to pick one. no one was upset that you naturally drew to san, not even wooyoung. on top of all. of that, you probably kissed san the most right after himself.
so if you wouldn't kiss wooyoung, then you wouldn't kiss san either.
so the entire fansign you couldn't once get close to san without wooyoung appearing. he's pretty sure a lot of atiny captured the confusing looks both you and san would give him. and eventually, you stopped trying to go over to san, instead opting to either interact with the other members or the fans.
even after the fansign was over, wooyoung refused to leave you and san alone. you tried your best not to let your frustration towards your boyfriend show, especially since you all were still in front of staff. so you opted to just hang around seonghwa, even when it was finally time to go.
on the way back to the hotel, seonghwa couldn't help but laugh as he noticed the pout on your lips as you rested your head on his shoulder.
"what's wrong, baby?" seonghwa asks, hand coming to give your thigh a squeeze before he lets you play with his hand.
"wooyoung is being a jerk," you said with a dramatic sigh. "first he didn't kiss me before he went back to his room this morning, then he literally wouldn't let me near sannie. like what even, that bastard."
"is that what this is all about? because he didn't kiss you this morning?"
"yes... he always kisses me before he leaves my room. not to mention he also hit my nose and didn't apologize," you grumble.
"goodness, my poor y/nnie, what will i do with you?"
"can you kiss me, please?"
"of course, baby," he says as you both turn to face each other, seonghwa slots his plush lips against yours smiling as he feels how eager you are to kiss him. when he pulls away, his runs his tongue over his lips, "new lip gloss?"
"its strawberry," you say.
"i like it," he says before kissing you again and no doubt smudging your lip gloss, but you don't care. you had no more schedules and couldn't wait to get back to the hotel.
back at the hotel, you had managed to convince seonghwa to come to your room with you. seonghwa had told you he would be in your room after he changed. walking into your hotel room, you quickly got changed before you laid down on your bed, waiting for seonghwa.
you were in the middle of reading your book when a knock sounded on your door. getting up, you walk over to answer it, thinking it was seonghwa, "wow, you changed fast, oppa."
however, you were not greeted by seonghwa, instead san was standing in your doorway, dressed in his usually black shirt and grey sweatpants.
"hi, pretty," he says, and you smile at him before you let him in, closing the door behind him.
"what are you doing?" you ask as you lay back down on your bed with him joining you.
"nothing, i just wanted to see my girl," he says as he pulls you into his arms.
"since wooyoung decided that we couldn't be together," you reply back teasingly, cause san to laugh in return.
"he told me on the way back that he was doing it because he was trying to play your game, whatever that means," he said, "he said that since you were being a brat, then he could also be a brat."
"ugh, whatever, he's the one that didn't kiss me this morning. only far if i didn't do it back," you say back with an annoyed huff.
"all this over a kiss?" san asked, eyebrow raised and he had the same tone as seonghwa did when you told me.
you shrug your shoulders, "you guys spoil me," you say as you sit up to look at san who laughed at your response.
"so its our fault that you expect kisses?"
"that's right, you guys give me too much love," you say, leaning down to kiss him as you feel his hands grab at your hips. your own hands rested on his chest, easily feeling his muscles underneath his shirt. without breaking the kiss, you move to straddle his lap with your hands running up and down his abs before sliding underneath his shirt. san's hands were no better, one running underneath your own shirt while his other one squeezed your ass.
however, before you both could do anymore another knock sounded at your door. you broke the kiss sitting up, "that must be seonghwa-oppa," you say, moving to try and get up to answer the door.
another knock sounds again, this one a little more harshly than the first, "okay, okay i'm coming. calm down!" you say before opening the door. you were once again greeted with someone who wasn't your eldest boyfriend, seriously? where was he? instead it was the boyfriend you were currently "beefing" with.
"finally! about ti–
you close the door in his face before he could finish, well you tried to close it, but his stupid foot was in the way. wooyoung then easily let himself in (but were you really trying to stop him), and he comes further into your hotel room where he finds san laying down in your bed.
wooyoung then turns to look at you with a glare, pointing his finger at you as you close your door and walk past him. joining san back on the bed. "so you'll kiss him, but not me!?"
san furrowed his eyebrows letting out a small "hey" but both you and wooyoung ignored him.
"san's my boyfriend too, wooyoung," you said, deadpanning at your younger lover.
"so why won't you kiss me if i'm your boyfriend too?"
"because maybe i don't want to!" you said with a huff and wooyoung let out a groan in annoyance at you. san just sat there, watching it all.
"what did i do, y/n! just tell me so you can stop being a brat," he huffed, blowing some hair out of his face.
"you're acting pretty bratty yourself, woo," you say back as you cross your arms and lean against the headboard.
"come ooooooonn, y/nnie, i'm dying here without a kiss from you," he says before dramatically falling onto the bed. he tries to grab your ankle but you quickly pull your feet away from him, making him pout. you think you heard him mumble 'brat' under his breath but you didn't really care.
then something popped into your head as you watched wooyoung roll around and whine, eyes then drifting to san who still sat watching you both. "you want a kiss from me?" you ask, its rhetorical but wooyoung still nods. he's desperate. "okay," you say before turning to san and gently turning his head to look at you, "will you do me a favor sannie?"
"sure," he says and doesn't have time to say anything else before you're pressing your lips to his harshly. san hums into the kiss but before it could go too far, you pull away, wiping the spit that connected the two of you.
"give that wooyoung for me," you say, taking a deep breath and you notice wooyoung perking up from his spot. san can only nod before he's moving to where wooyoung is, cupping your shared boyfriend's face before he's kissing him the same way you had to san.
you watch san break the kiss, but before he could move away wooyoung is pulling him back down for another one; however, when he pulls away wooyoung says, "give that to y/n."
san obeys and you lean over to meet san as he delivers wooyoung's kiss to you. you let out a small laugh as san moves away, but again not far enough to not let you pull him back to give him yet another kiss to give to wooyoung. you move back to your original position as you watch wooyoung sit up in order to kiss san, the younger running his hands through san's hair which somehow manages to perfectly fall back into place.
this continues for several more minutes – how long exactly, you aren't sure, but you definitely aren't complaining and you don't think san or wooyoung are complaining either. your lips are starting to feel a little swollen from how long you've been kissing though and your two lovers' lips don't look any better.
san and wooyoung were kissing when a knock sounded at your door. san tried to stop you from leaving, squeezing your thigh but you slipped off the bed and over to the door.
third time's the charm, seonghwa smiled at you brushing hair out of your face as you wrapped your arms around him. who knew kissing could make you so tired. "what you doing, angel? why are your lips so swollen looking?"
"wooyoung," you say as seonghwa guides the two of you into your room, you never letting go. you hear seonghwa let out a dry laugh as he sees wooyoung and san on your bed. the eldest watches as you let go of him in order to crawl back on the bed and san takes the opportunity to kiss you, easily switching from wooyoung to you like it was second nature to him now.
"what are you all doing?" seonghwa asks as he stands at the foot of the bed, still watching you all.
"y/n wouldn't kiss me, so we are trading kisses between san," wooyoung says.
seonghwa raises his eyebrow at wooyoung's response, "still? y/nnie, just kiss him already! i don't think he'll forget to kiss you again after this."
"what?" wooyoung says, surprised by seonghwa's words. forget to kiss you? oh shit, he did forget to kiss you this morning before he left. "y/nnie," wooyoung says, crawling over to you, wrapping himself around you so you couldn't move away. "i'm sorry, baby, i promise i won't ever forget to kiss you again, just please don't make me suffer like this again," he says.
"you promise?" you say grabbing his face to make him look at you.
"i promise, baby," he says, you let out a small noise before you're finally kissing wooyoung. your lips smashing against his and wooyoung wastes no time in kissing you back. he felt like he was lost in a desert and finally found water. damn, did he love kissing you.
when you pulled away, you noticed how wooyoung finally looked at peace and you smiled at him as you moved the hair away from his face. "better?"
"you have no idea," he says, pressing a light kiss to your lips.
"well, it was nice playing kiss express with you both, but i'm gonna go lay down in my own bed," san says, leaning over to kiss both you and wooyoung before he gets up. san makes sure to give seonghwa a kiss as well before he leaves your room.
you look to seonghwa before patting the space next to you, the eldest of ateez smiles at you before joining you and wooyoung in your bed. you turn in wooyoung's hold in order to cuddle up with seonghwa.
"hwa, please turn a movie on," you ask and seonghwa nods, doing the necessary things in order to get a movie playing on the tv. then the three of you are settling in, seonghwa even pulling an extra blanket out and covering you three.
you can't help but feel sleep slowly take over as the movie plays, the sound of it acting as background noise as seonghwa's chest rising and falling softly, slowly lulling you to sleep. wooyoung was already out, his head nuzzled into your neck as his arms are wrapped around your waist. you look up at seonghwa who looks down at you with a smile.
"go to sleep, angel, i'll wake you up later," he says.
"for dinner? will you eat with me?"
"of course, get some rest," he says, kissing the top of your head as you relax back on his chest. eyes closing and sleep finally taking over.

My mom has gone full on Youtube Woo "natural cures" and I have no idea how to get through to her. Literally sitting at home in front of the tv playing video after video of pseudoscientific bunk and lapping it up... She's diabetic and a cancer survivor and I fear she's gonna do irreparable damage in her forays into the deep end...
Do you have any tips on reaching folks that are in this deep?
Regular reinforcement of evidence-based medicine as kind as you can make it whenever it comes up.
"Oh I heard about this coffee enema thing..." "There's not really any evidence to back that up, mom, and besides, it sounds pretty unpleasant."
"Oh I heard about how nightshades are poison" "That book doesn't have a lot of great evidence, plus here are the kinds of micronutrients that you can get from nightshades, they're important in your diet."
"Oh I'm not sure about vaccines anymore, the new ones are so scary" "Mom, I'm so glad you got me vaccinated, I think about how kids younger than me are at risk of measles and other issues because of vaccine hesitancy and I worry so much for them, I think you made the right decision when I was a kid and I'm grateful for it."
"Oh, but fluoride in the water can cause IQ losses in young children," "Mom, those studies aren't in areas where fluoride is added, they're in areas where it's naturally high and are way, way above what gets added here, plus look at you and me, we have been drinking fluoridated water and we're both smart."
IDK, it's miserable. Basically you go on natural news and learn about all the lies, then spend twenty times as much time learning about the debunkings for all the lies and then try to be nice when you tell them they're wrong.
Since your mom has had previous successful treatment from allopathic doctors call back to that; "but mom I'm so glad they were able to take care of your cancer - I know it was hard but I think you might not have survived if you hadn't trusted your doctors." "but mom, look at how much the medical science on diabetes has improved in your lifetime; i'm glad it's easier to manage now than it was when you were younger, and that there are better treatments being developed all the time; I don't think they're hiding things from us otherwise they'd still treat diabetes and cancer like they did in the 50s, and things are so much better than that."
Just. Try to be nice. Try not to attack her. Try to keep it light and offer cheerful arguments before changing the subject.
You don't want her to get defensive, you want her to consider you to be someone she can ask for information who won't make fun of her and doesn't think she's stupid.
Anyway. Life with my mother in law has been fun recently. She watched a youtube video and decided she must have gone into ketosis after fasting for twelve hours so she ordered a bunch of protein strips and I'm cooking for her a few times a week to guarantee that she's eating something other than canned chili beans.
So. You know. I feel you.

Yunho X Reader ( ft Wooyoung & Mingi )
WC : 1.4K of p0rn with very little plot ; not proofread
TW : Unprotected intercourse ( wrap it up kids ) Cockwarming, Exhibition (being listened to) Dirty Talk, Name calling ( Slut ) Praise, Use of nic name ( Baby, princess, pretty )
"Shhh baby, you don't want the rest of the guys to hear you do you? Don't want them to know what a little slut you actually are" Yunho says as he adjusts both of you in his gaming chair. You whimper in response as you feel his thick cock shift inside you.
You're trying to wrap your head around how you ended up in this position. Yunho was having his normal weekly gaming night with Wooyoung and Mingi and you had been peacefully reading your book laying on his bed. 40 minutes ago he called you over to sit on his lap, saying he needed some good luck. One thing led to another and here you were straddling his hips, his hard dick buried in your cunt.
"Woo over there by that wall" Yunho says into his headset as he looks over your shoulder. Your head nuzzled into his neck as you try not to pant and whine too loud. His arms caging you in as he looks at his screen. His long pretty hands pressing the buttons on his keyboard. "Yuyu" you whimper into the side of his neck as you try and hold still. The ache between your legs becoming to much for you. "Shh babe" he coos at you as his hand comes up to push on your back, trying to muffle your voice.
All it does is shift your body forward, Yunho's cock shifting inside you hitting places that have you seeing start. A strangled moan leaving your lips as you throw your head back, the same time Yunho lets out a sharp gasp. The sound echoing through his room. "What was that?" you hear Mingi ask through the head set. Your chest heaving as you lean back looking at Yunho with wide eyed. A playful smirk plastered across his mouth as he says "Oh that was just Y/N. She apparently cant sit on my cock with out moaning like a needy whore" You feel your face heat under the blush that spreads across it.
"Yunho" you whisper yell at him. "Dude..... you have her sitting on your cock right now? While we're playing?" you hear Wooyoung say through the mic. "I sure do. She couldn't help herself, grinding all over me before" "YUNHO!" you shriek as you bury your face back into his shoulder. "What?" He chuckles "I told you to be quiet or they would hear you" You huff and try to lift your self up and off his lap, but you don't get far before his arm is wrapped around your waist pulling you back down. "Oh no where do you think you're going baby?" Another needy moan slipping past your lips as you slide back down on his shaft. Yunho lets out the same. "Oh did you like that baby? Fuck feels so good"
"Yuyu" you whisper breathlessly. "oh you can't. Hold on" You watch as Yunho removes his head set and unplugs them, plugging in a few new wires and pushing a few buttons before he asks "Can you hear me" followed by both Mingi and Wooyoung's voice filling the room. The horror you felt must have been all over your face because Yunho chuckles "They said they couldn't hear you babe. We want to be good friend's now don't we and let them listen" You knew this was his way of asking you if you were okay with this. You knew if you said no, he would shut it down. Yunho had never done anything to make you even close to uncomfortable.
But you couldn't deny the shock of pure pleasure that shot through you when you figured out that they could hear you, and you them. "Yes" you said softly "Want to be good for all of you" As soon as the words left your mouth three things happened. 1) You heard all the air leave Wooyoung's lungs. 2)Mingi let out the neediest groan and 3) The biggest smile crept its self across Yunhos face. "That's my girl" he said as he leaned in a placed the sweetest kiss to your lips. "Now move for them baby" he says against your lips "let them hear all your pretty sounds."
And you do. You would do anything this man said right now If it kept you feeling this way. Slowly you begin to pick up your hips, dragging yourself up his length before coming back down again. Little mews and moans leaving your lips as you look at Yunho watching you, his hands grabbing your hips. Slowly you pick up speed, bouncing on his lap faster, harder, pulling grunts of pleasure from his throat as he tried to control himself.
You on the other hand have lost all sense of self preservation and are a moaning, whining mess as you fuck yourself on your boyfriends dick. "God she sounds so good" Mingi deep voice grunts through the speakers in the room and you have know doubt in your mind that he has his cock in his hand listing to you. "So good" Wooyoung coo's back. Your walls tighten at their praise sending a moan slipping from Yunhos lips.
"Fuck baby you like that? You like them telling you how good you sound?" He asks, his hips jerking up to meet your body. You shake your head enthusiastically. "They can't hear you princess, use your words or have you gone dumb on me? Hmm?" "Yess" you moan out "Yes I like it yuyu" your hands snacking up his body to rest on his shoulders, giving yourself leverage to fuck yourself on him harder.
"Fu- fuck" Mingi moans "She sounds so pretty" The sound of your panting and your thighs slapping agains Yunhos hips fills the room along with the pants and whimpers from the speakers. "You should see how pretty she looks" Yunho breaths out "Maybe one day you can show Mingi baby, show him how well you ride cock" Your body heats up and your core clenches around him at the thought of his best friend watching you fuck him "Oh Mingi I think she likes that idea"
"Do you pretty? You like the idea of me being there? I like the idea" Mingi groans out, the tell tail sound of slapping filling the room lets you know either him or Woo are jerking them self to you and it elights another sensation of pleasure in you. "Hey what about me?" Woo whines "Well see about you" Yunho laughs. "Yuyu im-" His hand comes up to cup your cheek "I know baby, I know me too" he says as he lifts his hips to meet you. His other hand sneaks between your bodies and finds your bundle of nerves "Just let go for me baby"
It doesn't take long, between Yunho thrusting up into you, hitting that sweet spot just right, his finger in your clit rubbing circles just the way you like and Mingi and Wooyoung's groans and pants filling the room you are sent over the edge. Your body jerking forward till you were flat against Yunhos chest. Clamping down on his cock, your walls flutter around him just as he shoves back inside you and stills. His cock twitching as he fills you with his load.
The both of you reaching the loudest you have been the whole time, followed by the sound of Mingis deep grunts filling the room letting you know he followed behind the two of you. The only tell of Woo finishing was the heavy panting from his end. You stayed pressed up against Yunhos chest as his hand came up to stroke your back, helping you calm down. The reality of what you just did washes over you and you bury your face in his chest. Embarrassment eating away at you.
It's Wooyoung who breaks the silence first. "Ughh, I'll talk to you guys later.. Gotta clean up. Bye" and with a quick click he's gone. Its Mingi who lets out a chuckle after that "You got him all embarrassed there pretty" You shift to look at Yunhos computer screen, like you half expected to actually see your boyfriends 6ft blond best friend looking back at you. "Didn't mean to" yo mutter out. "Awww don't go getting all shy now baby. Don't forget we promised Mingi he could see just how well you ride remember"
You look up at Yunho, meeting his big chocolate brown eyes and that sweet smile and you instantly melt. "Yea pretty, I want to witness that first hand" you hear Mingi say. You nod your head yes up at Yunho before remembering Mingi cant hear you. "Yea.. okay" you say softly. A smile forming on your face as Yunho leans down to place a kiss onto of your head, you think to your self, what did you get yourself into?

Chapter 81 of human Bill Cipher not enjoying being the Mystery Shack's prisoner but being even less keen on being the government's prisoner: the feds are snooping around the shack, nobody likes this, and so a family meeting is called to discuss how to send them packing.
####
"I just kept telling him I didn't know anything," said Soos. He was slumped bonelessly on the couch, wiping his sweaty forehead with his sleeve and holding a soda in one shaky hand. "I accidentally said I don't know anything when he asked where he could get lunch in town!"
"You did good, Soos," Stan said. "That's how you handle feds—don't tell 'em anything."
Stan and Ford had called a household meeting, and now everyone was packed into the living room: Soos and the kids on the couch, Stan and Abuelita in the armchairs, Bill and Wendy at the living room table, and Ford out in the entryway so he could pace.
(Everyone was wearing deely boppers. Mabel had had a very productive day.)
Even Waddles and Gompers had been dragged to the mandatory meeting. Gompers had already eaten the pink pompoms off Waddle's deely boppers and was now trying to eat the hem of Dipper's shorts while Dipper tried to push him back from touching the sunburns on his legs.
"What are we gonna do?" Dipper asked. "Last year these guys tried to arrest Stan, and he was still using a fake name back then—so now, the agents could be after Stan or Ford."
"Dial back the pessimism. Right now, they're not after anybody," Bill said. "They're just following up on the eclipse from last week." And a tip about somebody dangerous in the shack. Bill pushed those worries aside. "They don't have any reason to come back!"
"Except the flash drive," Soos said. "Which they know is here. Inside the shack. Cuz they sensed it."
"Right. Yep. Except that," Bill said. "Hey, Dolores—howsabout you whip up one of your special 'welcome to the shack' dinners for them? I'm sure they'd enjoy it just as much as I did."
Dolores nodded thoughtfully. (The tiny sleigh bells on her deely boppers jingles.) "I could," she said. "But what would we do with the bodies?"
"We've got the perfect in-house body disposal! Chop 'em up and feed 'em to the pig."
"Nooo!" Mabel flung her arms protectively over Waddles. He oinked neutrally. "We're not feeding people to Waddles!"
"He'd probably love it!"
"Uh-uh."
"Fine, then the gnomes," Bill said.
Ford said, "Let's call murder 'Plan B.'"
Bill rolled his eye. "All right, smart guy, what's Plan A?"
Ford didn't immediately reply. He paced for another few seconds in the entryway, gathering his thoughts. "There are three ways this could end badly. We have to find a way to prevent all of them," he finally said. "One: the agents discover that there's something under the house and find the portal. Two: the agents remember there's something under the house, and realize they've been brainwashed. Three: the agents retrieve their flash drive, and that reminds them something's under the house."
Stan added, "And if any of those happens, we're both going to jail. Probably Soos too, as an accomplice. Kids might even be in trouble for escaping custody last year." Dipper and Mabel exchanged an alarmed look.
Bill looked at Wendy. "Hey, look who's off the hook." He held up a hand.
"Woo-hoo!" She high-fived him. "We'll visit the rest of you guys in jail."
Mournfully, Mabel asked, "If we get arrested, can you send me crayons?"
"I'll get you one of those boxes with a hundred crayons," Bill said. "And hide a shank in that yellowy green one you never use."
"Thanks."
But if any of those three scenarios came true, that meant government agents crawling all over Bill's portal. Best case scenario, it'd end up halfway across the country in a secret military base. There was tech left in the wreck in the basement that couldn't possibly be synthesized using Earth's current technology, and the Trilazzx Betian ship didn't have backup parts for all of them.
And that wasn't even taking that anonymous tip into account...
"I shouldn't have to go to jail," Ford grumbled. "I wasn't behind the crimes committed in my name, Stanley was."
"Hey," Stan said, "you're the one who impersonated a government agent! Besides, did you really not commit any crimes while building your dumb portal?"
Ford winced. "What's the statute of limitations on burgling radioactive waste?"
"Don't worry, Mothman," Bill called. (Ford self-consciously adjusted his deely boppers, which had paper moths taped to the ends.) "I tossed most of the incriminating evidence in the bottomless pit while you were asleep!"
"Wh— Is that where my lockpicking kit went?!"
"Haha, yeah!" Bill had bought Keyhole's loyalty for the next three hundred years with that.
Wendy waved a hand between Bill and Ford to interrupt their banter. "We can probably keep them from discovering the portal by just not giving them a reason to look behind the vending machine, right?"
"And if we keep them from getting Gompers, they won't get the flash drive," Dipper said.
Mabel said, "What if we put him on a plane to Japan! Do you wanna go to Japan, Gompers?"
Gompers looked at Mabel impassively.
"It's no good," Abuelita said. "It will take weeks to get a passport for the goat."
"Aww."
"There are plenty of ways we can keep their hands off the drive," Ford said. "We could just hide Gompers underground, for instance—there's no way their sensors can reach that far.
Oh no, not when it was clear someone had been down there tinkering with the portal. "Do that and they'll know we did something to hide it! We'll never get rid of them then."
"True," Ford sighed.
Bill said. "I'm most worried about them remembering something on their own. The agents mentioned the portal's gravitational anomalies from last summer—are they remembering something they shouldn't, or did you leave them with those memories?"
Ford hesitated, glancing uncertainly at Stan. Stan shrugged.
"Oh, right. You aren't the expert on how the memory gun operates." Bill rolled his eye toward Wendy. "You see how helpless he is without me around to feed him information?"
"Pshh, shut up. Keep me out of your weird old people academic grudge."
Dryly, Ford said, "Care to enlighten us with your superior knowledge, o god of wisdom?"
No, he really didn't. Not for Ford, anyway. He wouldn't even be grateful for it.
But, under the circumstances—knowing that the agents were after him, too... "Oh, why not," Bill said. "What did you enter in the gun? The exact wording."
Ford frowned, glancing toward the ceiling as he concentrated. "It was... I didn't know exactly how much they knew—I didn't even know which names they knew Stan under—so I tried to make it as broad as possible. I think it said something like 'Pines Household's Secrets'?"
Bill thought that over. "Okay. Okay, yeah, that works. That's perfect, actually—best answer you could have given. You never disappoint, IQ."
Ford was visibly unmoved by the flattery (which was just as well, because Bill had given it out of habit as he slid back into the role of teacher, and had immediately regretted it). "And I suppose you're going to explain why that wording is so important."
"I could," Bill said. "Do you want to know?"
Ford glowered at Bill, lips pressed together in a thin line. Bill stared back, brows arched expectantly. (Wendy looked between the two of them and snorted. Bill pushed her without breaking eye contact with Ford.)
Mabel said, "I wanna know."
"Good enough for me!" Bill hopped from his seat and crossed the living room to a spot where he could address the group more easily. "The memory gun doesn't actually destroy memories, it just severs the connections between those memories and the rest of the brain. Like snipping a squid's tentacles to free it from a squid king."
"What's a squid king?" Soos asked.
"It's like a rat king made of giant squid. It takes at least four to qualify because if their tentacles are knotted in a circle that's just a squid ring," Bill said. "So! Usually you find your own memories by their relationship to other memories. Driving by the grocery store reminds you that you need to go shopping, which reminds you that you're out of straws, which reminds you of when your doctor's eye got gouged out, which reminds you of those vampires in the library, which reminds you of that book you need to return, yadda yadda."
Stan said, "Wait, your doctor got what—?"
"He was fine, he had it coming, and I was nowhere nearby."
"And how's that get you to vampires?!"
"The tangy taste of blood left in your straw. Please hold any other questions to the end!" Bill said. "But, since the memory gun severs a memory from the ones connected to it, you can't be indirectly reminded of it—the chain's been broken. But the memory'sstill there. All it takes is a direct reminder to recall it, and then it starts reattaching to your other memories. Everyone with me so far?" He directed the question in Mabel's direction.
Mabel nodded. Ford opened his mouth to ask a question.
"Great," Bill said. "But! What gets severed is determined by whatever you programmed into the gun. So, for example, if you run into a vampire in the library, then get shot with a memory gun programmed with the word 'Vampires,' there's no more jumping from your doctor to that late book! And you won't remember your vampire encounter if you wander around the library—at most, you might get a sense of deja vu—but you will get back your memory of the whole thing if you run into another vampire!"
He nodded toward Ford. "So 'Pines household's secrets is the best phrase you could've picked. It means they forgot any Pines secrets—including Stanley's criminal record—any household secrets—including the machine in the basement—and since they only forgot the 'secrets,' they can run into anything that isn't secret without recovering their severed memories—like, say, the entire upstairs of the shack."
Slowly, Ford said, "Then that's why they remember last year's gravitational anomalies. The cause is one of our secrets, but the anomalies themselves aren't a secret—they're a matter of public record."
"Bingo," Bill said. "Well! That should be simple enough. Any questions?"
Mabel raised a hand.
Bill pointed at her. "Yes!"
"Are there vampires at the library?"
"Not anymore!"
"Aw."
Dipper asked, "Did you murder your doctor with a straw?"
"I did not and I won't be taking any more questions on the topic, it was a very traumatic experience" for the patient who went in after Bill.
Stan asked, "Why are you wearing a bedsheet for a skirt."
"Because somebody—" Bill shot Soos a dark look, "grabbed all my perfectly clean clothes for laundry day, and left me with a bedsheet and one dirty t-shirt."
Soos chuckled sheepishly. "Whoops. Sorry, dude."
Ford grudgingly raised a hand.
Bill grudgingly said, "What."
"Are squid kings real."
"Yes. As of last summer there were seven with at least fifty giant squid, but two were negotiating a merger so it might be six by now. I haven't had a chance to check!"
"Negotiating a merger? Do—do they combine voluntarily?"
"Oh, sure. In droves. It's a huge honor! The one I'm friends with says the psychic powers are totally worth the eventual zombification—they're ninety percent undead now and haven't regretted it once in five hundred years."
Ford opened his mouth, got stuck between three questions, and didn't manage to settle on one before Abuelita raised a hand.
Bill's attention switched to her. "Yes!"
With an air of patience unwarranted by Bill's actions, Abuelita asked, "Why are you standing on my TV."
Bill looked down. So he was. "This is my lecture podium."
Abuelita's eyes narrowed. Bill cheerfully ignored her. "Any questions about the memory gun?"
There was a general murmured agreement that, no, that part had been pretty clear. Stan snapped, "Now get off the TV."
As Bill hopped down and caught his balance, Wendy said, "So... as long as they don't know any of the shack's secrets and we get the flash drive out of Gompers before they're back, we're cool, right? We can just erase their files and say 'hey, sorry, the goat pooped this out, totally not our fault.' If they don't remember anything, it's not like they've got a reason to keep investigating the shack."
Bill tried to imagine how they'd react if he told them someone had anonymously reported him to the agents. What if they decided scapegoating him could protect the rest of them from the investigation? (And was he sure it wasn't someone in the room who'd reported him?) "Yep! Pretty much! That'd solve our problems!"
"Okay," Wendy said. "Great. So... we're good, right?"
The room studied each other uneasily, everyone waiting for someone else to answer. "Yes," Ford said unconvincingly. "We're good. Er—kids, we need to... discuss the details of... how to handle this. You don't need to stick around." He looked at Stan. Stan gave him a slight nod. (It made the googly eyes on his deely boppers wiggle.)
Dipper and Mabel exchanged a glance. Dipper said, "Are you sure? We could..."
"I'm sure. Maybe you should go upstairs," Ford said. "Leave Gompers here."
Mabel sat up straighter, preparing to argue, and glanced toward Bill; but when Bill shrugged rather than ready to defend her, she sighed and poked Dipper. "C'mon." ("Ow." He pushed her finger away from his sunburned arm.) They left reluctantly, Mabel escorting Waddles along with her.
Ford tilted his head toward the door. "That means you too, Miss Corduroy. Hup hup."
Wendy groaned. "Fine." She slid out of her seat and headed for the door. "Hey Goldie, let me know if anything interesting happens."
"You got it, cool girl."
Soos raised a hand. "Am I one of the kids?"
"Not today," Ford said.
"Aw."
Sensing a change in the atmosphere, Abuelita got to her feet. "I will get dinner started." She shuffled out of the room.
Bill waited until the door shut behind Wendy and he was sure the kids were upstairs; and then asked, "So are we kicking the kids out for the reason I think?"
"Afraid so. Now that the government knows the flash drive is here, they'll be back with a warrant as soon as possible. We can't waste any time." Ford knelt next to Gompers and pulled out a scalpel. "Somebody hold the goat down."
"Whoa!" Stan jumped to his feet. His deely bopper googly eyes rattled in alarm. "Were you just carrying that around?!"
Bill was abruptly reminded of one of the reasons he'd liked Ford. He squatted next to him. "All right, I can see where the drive's lodged, I can tell you where to cut—"
"Dudes!" Soos flung himself across Gompers. 'You can't cut him open! He's like part of the family! He's been eating out of the shack's garbage for years, does that mean nothing to you?!" (Gompers attempted to eat the foam lightning bolts off Soos's deely boppers.)
Bill groaned. "Come on, who cares?! It's not like he's a person anymore!"
The room stared at Bill. Stan said, "Did you say 'anymore'?"
Bill paused. "Forget I said that."
Ford sighed. "Fine, we'll try to find a solution without surgery." (But, Bill thought, he sounded a little disappointed.) "But if we're using a slower method, the agents might be back before we can retrieve the flash drive. We need a way to stop them from finding it."
"Or from finding the door behind the vending machine," Soos said. "Now that they know the drive's been here, they're gonna keep looking until they find it! What if they think it might've fallen behind the vending machine or something?"
"What we need is a distraction," Stan said. "Something that'll keep 'em from searching the shack too thoroughly."
"And ideally, something that will keep them from coming back," Ford said. "They keep returning to Gravity Falls because of the power surges and related gravity anomalies in town, correct? Obviously, the meteor shower story wasn't convincing enough. If we give them an explanation that lets them close the case completely..."
Which was all well and good, except they weren't just looking for power surges and gravity hiccups anymore. They thought somebody in the shack was a threat to national security. Bill had kept suspicion away from himself for the day by pretending to be a tourist, but if the eagles got serious, that wouldn't last long. If they were watching the shack, they'd realize Bill was a resident; and if they tried to investigate him at all, they'd quickly realize they couldn't find any legal records of his existence. Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Theraprism's reincarnation machine hadn't given him the right skin color to get away with that in this country, especially during a witch hunt for a suspected terrorist.
And, worse—what if they did identify him?
He'd heard Agent Trigger say Soos's alien keychains resembled the "real thing." The Bureau of Covert Investigations didn't tell all its agents about all its cases—but it sounded like these two had been to Hangar 618 at least once.
So had Bill.
Over 60 years ago, a military experiment had accidentally ripped open a very small hole to the Nightmare Realm. Not big enough for Bill to squeeze his full self through (HA! Not even close), but big enough to project a hologram through—something solid enough for the soldiers who'd detected the temporary rift to see and touch. And, naturally, they'd hauled his hologram to Hangar 618—the five-sensed suckers thought the projection was his real body—where they hid all their unidentified fallen objects.
It had been fun! He'd gotten to use all his army name puns (Major Pain, General Disarray, Private Shame, etc.), he'd lived out a centuries-old dream of snorting a line of gunpowder, he'd gotten Commander I-Don't-Even-Know-'Er to sing "On Top of Spaghetti" in exchange for Bill agreeing to leave the artillery room, he'd learned a dirty joke from the nurse brought in to assist with his vivisection, he'd introduced himself to half the base...
He'd introduced himself.
Somewhere, probably in some redacted appendix to Project Blue Book, the US military had a file on Bill Cipher—and so did the eagles. They knew his name. Hell, they even had his thumbprints—obviously alien thumbprints, that he'd retained when he reincarnated. Every object in the shack he'd ever touched carried the proof that he was Bill Cipher.
If whoever had sent the Bureau a tip had mentioned his name... Well, there were a lot of Bills in America, but not a lot using the last name "Cipher." There were probably under fifty living humans who knew about the triangle in Hangar 618, but for those who did, hearing that name resurface in Gravity Falls would blow their gelatinous little minds. He was sure they would love to get their hands on him again. He bet they'd be fascinated to find out how a triangle had fit into a human skin.
Getting hauled into a secret government facility had only been fun when his true self was still in the Nightmare Realm and the part of him in captivity had been a projection made of light, dreams, and lethal doses of radiation. Plus, that had been before he really, truly knew what it was like to be a captive. Now, the thought of being hauled back to that interrogation room—with the cheap metal chairs and gray floor and gray walls and stark sharp light—made him nauseous. The idea of being questioned about himself by some arrogant buzzkill in a suit sounded too much like therapy for comfort.
And it would be so much easier for them to keep him from escaping when he was weighed down by flesh.
Nobody was protecting Bill. The Pines weren't above throwing him under the bus if they thought it might save their precious little family from arrest. There was nothing for it. If he wanted to save himself—he had to help.
"Listen," Bill said. "I have an idea. It's iffy, and it'll require you all to trust me a bit..." He paused to give them an opportunity to laugh.
Only Stan chuckled. Good enough for Bill. "But, it might be our best shot."
"Okay," Ford said warily. "What is it."
"Bear with me," Bill said. "I bet I could get the head agent off our case by flirting with him a little."
And that time they laughed at him.
Bill patiently waited. "Okay, okay, ha ha, but the guy's been leering at me the last two days. Ask Wendy, she's the one who noticed! And do you know what his love life looks like? Because I do. Woof. Dry as a bone. That man's married to his work! He's lonelier than Elvis is!"
"Wait," Ford said. "What does that mean? Where's Elvis?"
"Not important. The point is, he's a soft target, he's already into this—" he gestured disdainfully at his human body, "and he's got the loosest lips in the eagles. I make a little small talk, I compliment his mustache and pretend I think working for the government is attractive, I keep him too dazzled to notice what's right in front of his face..." Bill trailed off. "And... that's as far as I've gotten. We'll figure it out as we go! Maybe I just distract him too much to do his job, maybe I strangle him in the bathroom and sell his body parts to half a dozen inhuman vendors in the Crawlspace, I don't know! I'll improvise!"
"It's barely half a plan," Ford said.
"It's the biggest fraction of a plan we have. What do we have to lose?"
"I think he might be on to something," Stan said. "I mean, consider it. Bill's an objectively beautiful woman."
The room stared at him. Bill flipped up his eyepatch to double his stare.
"What! It's just a fact!"
"Aww, Stan." Bill laced his hands together coquettishly and batted his lashes.
"Save it."
"Stanley. I had no idea you felt that way about me—"
"Can it, Cipher! " Stan curled a fist threateningly. Bill winked at him. Stan shuddered. "Eugh. Physical attraction's only gonna carry you so far, demon! Can you attract a man when you're talking to him? Because personally, I find you less appealing every time you open your mouth—and you were in the negatives the first time we met."
Bill thought about that. Bill thought about all his human cultists. Bill thought about all his human cultists whom he'd caught having scandalous dreams about endless staring eyes and cool black hands that buzzed with static and being fully exposed before the golden glory of an ever-watching false sun. Bill thought about that one time he tried to ask one of his sects to at least invite him to his own wedding and wait for him to RSVP before symbolically marrying more cult novitiates to him and they sorta nodded and said "okay" and then went and wedded him to another dozen Cipherwives anyway. "Yeah! Sure! No problem! I attract humans all the time! They can't get enough of this!"
"Okay, but can you attract a human that isn't into freaky space triangle things?"
Bill tapped his index fingers together thoughtfully. "Ummm..."

A clubber eyed the hands of the man sitting at the bar beside him.
The man noticed the look and turned toward the clubber, grinning too wide, staring at him with yellowish slitted eyes that seemed to flash in the dim light like a cat's. "Yeah, I know." He drummed his fingers on the bar top. "Six fingers."
The clubber flinched at being caught staring. "Oh—sorry."
"Don't be! It's a built-in conversation starter!" The six-fingered yellow-eyed man laughed. "Hey! Have you ever had six fingers before?"
"Uhh," the clubber said. "Nnno?"
"Would you like to?" The man winked with both eyes, one at a time.
The clubber frowned at him in confusion, and then slowly turned away without answering.
####
"Sure," Bill cheerfully lied. "No problem!"

There was a knock on the attic bedroom door. Mabel opened it.
Stan and Ford stood in the doorway with a sulky Bill in between them. Stan pushed Bill into the room and said, "Teach him how to flirt."
Mabel gasped in delight.

(Well that took way later than I wanted it to—but it's finally out.
Head's up, I've got two zine deadlines that take priority, my workload triples at the end of the year, and I'm currently preparing the house to welcome home a new baby*, so we might skip next week's chapter. Hopefully not, though; I'd hate to start the new year that way. We'll see.

Trauma in Solo leveling
Always haunted by what could have been of Solo Leveling if the narrative acknowledged the inherent trauma vision that guides most of Jin-Woo's actions through the series instead of glorifying him for that.
Like, it is pretty clear to me from the start that a lot of his obsession with self reliance and his increasingly cynical views of the world ("The weak are destined to be betrayed") are a direct response to the double dungeon incident, and in more ways than we initially realize.
I think it's particularly obvious in the way he is paralled with Lee Joohee; while they're both shown to be traumatized from their encounter, Joohee is supposedly 'worse off' than him. She has noticeable flashbacks to that episode and withdraws from life and work in an attempt to avoid possible triggers - becoming paralysed when she fails to do so. And because, while also afraid, Jin-Woo is instead making a point to return to dungeons we are very clearly meant to think that he is moving on when she is not. ...Except that he isn't.
Because, you see, along with withdrawing, the reenactment of a traumatic event is also a very common response to trauma. And so is the risky behaviour that might come with it. And what does Jin-Woo does as soon as he's able to leave the hospital again? Immediately throw himself into dungeons, alone, with a clear disregard for personal safety and an extreme need to both prove himself and give meaning to his near death experience before.
Not only does he goes right back into the very same place his trauma took place, but he seems to subconsciously be trying to recreate said event in a way that gives him control of the situation. This time, he wasn't abandoned to die alone in a dungeon: he did it himself, willingly. He placed himself in that position. And later on, when he risks himself with shady parties he expects to betray him, he seems almost content; once again putting himself in risk by creating a scenario where he is 'abandoned' and 'betrayed' but where he can come off on top. He is desperate to both have his belief confirmed that someone perceived as a weak hunter like he is will always be betrayed, always be left behind, and to fight that supposed fate. To prove that he has 'fixed' this aspect of himself and will thus not fall victim to that consequences of that abandoment again. In fact, he is so detatched from the current scene that he deliberately ignores the fact Yoo Jinho challenges those believes by protecting Jin-Woo, whom he believes to be an E rank at that point.
And were this any other story, all his development from then on would prove the faults of this mindset. The dangers of self reliance, of cutting yourself off from any support network, from depriving himself of any sort of meaningful trust or vulnerability with others. But instead, we're meant to respect the fact he is increasingly isolated from everyone else. That he becomes cold, emotionally withdrawn and paranoid (his refusal to join any of the existing guilds always felt to me like his need for control taken to extreme, plus the fact he could not deal with how exposed he felt working with others again). And I think that's really sad.
It would have been really interesting to have a story that is willing to challenge the notion that he is better off alone, and that trust in others is ultimately unecessary. And that would acknowledged the strength necessary to allow himself to trust and be vulnerable after everything - and the importance of surrounding himself with people he loves and knows will protect him too. Sad 😔

𐙚⭑𓂃 LOVE ON THE STREET ✰
➤ you and wooyoung embark on a top-secret mission to stalk hongjoong on his date but find yourselves unceremoniously caught up in a scandalous street interview for a reality dating show. yikes.
pairing: best friend!wooyoung x fem!reader ⭑ tags: crack, fluff, wooyoung's the biggest flirt, hongjoong mentioned. ⭑ wc: 1k (i think) ⭑ tw: profanity, mention of d word in a sarcastic context.
"i'm telling you, they're like ninjas."
you and wooyoung are on a classified mission to stalk hongjoong on his first date and let's just say, it's not looking too good for you two nosy mfckers. you keep losing track of the couple, there's too many people at the plaza, and you're sweating your assess off under the midsummer sun trying to navigate your way through a sea of shoppers.
"woo, i think i'm gonna faint," you breath out. "like, actually."
"grab onto me," wooyoung tells you, tightening his grip on your interlaced hands as he leads you through the crowded square, unaware of the blush that's crept up your cheeks. "oh! wait, i see them! let's go!"
hand-in-hand, you sprint across the streets like two stray chickens charging at their prey—hongjoong and his date, chatting about outside a buzzling pizza stand with not a single clue they're being followed.
wooyoung spots a bush near a lemonade stall opposite the pizza stand. "there! let's hide. i need to know what the fuck they're talking about."
talk about nosiness—you got nothing on wooyoung.
you both scurry over to the bush, keeping your heads low. but just as you're meters away from your hideout, a group of people stops you on your tracks, shoving a gigantic microphone in your faces.
"what the fuck!" wooyoung hisses, eyes darting to the pizza stand only to realise hongjoong is gone.
"spotted! a cute young couple!" the street interviewer—a woman no older than thirty—chirps merrily, signalling her sound crew to come closer. "do you mind introducing yourselves and share with us how long you've been dating?"
you spot a pink logo on the mic—'LOVE ON THE STREET'.
oh my god. this isn't some lowkey tiktok street interviewer with 20k followers looking to grow her channel. no, this lady's an actual tv host with a whole production crew and you're on national fucking television for a reality dating show. oh my god.
your jaw is on the ground and wooyoung is pissed.
"we're not dating and we're not interested," wooyoung politely rejects with a frown.
he grabs your hand and attempts to make a dash but is blocked by the camera man who unabashedly zooms in on your interlocked fingers.
"ooooh, what do we have here—you're holding hands!" the host chimes cattily, sounding like one of those scandalous reality tv commentators; very 'gossip girl'-esque. "you guys sure you're not dating?"
wooyoung's patience is running thin. "alright, what do you want?"
"bro, we're on tv! don't be rude!" you whisper quietly.
wooyoung hasn't let go of your hand. instead, he looks straight into the camera with a deadpan look like a scene from 'the office' and says, "what do you want me to say, huh? that we're dating? oh! guess what? we're actually married. yes, yes, that's right. shocker. baby, show 'em your ring."
"what ring!" you hiss quietly in his ear.
wooyoung continues with the most serious face, lying straight through he teeth, "we've also got a golden retriever and three kids. a nine year old, a seven year old and a toddler—"
"wow you guys have been busy, huh? and um, a nine year old? correct me if i'm wrong but you both look so young!" the host laughs dramatically.
"yeah, we're high school sweethearts. got a problem?"
you want to die. he did not just insinuate you're teen parents.
"n-no, no!" the host corrects herself, "and are you two lovebirds on a date?"
wooyoung casts her a devilish grin, "yes, and if you don't mind, my wife is tired and we need to leave."
with that, wooyoung whisks you away as quick as he can into the ac-ventilated coolness of the shopping mall. he still hasn't let go of your hand.
a calm silence settles between the both of you. the air feels different. none of you brought up the whole interview and none of you seem like you want to continue mission 'stalk hongjoong' after running around town like headless chickens in the heat. so you decide to settle down in a baby blue booth at a japanese dessert cafe somewhere on level five by the wall-to-ceiling windows.
"you don't like the cake?" wooyoung asks before taking a long slurp from his strawberry milkshake.
you glance down at the strawberry cream cake, mindlessly poking the icing-dusted strawberry with your fork. "it's good."
"why aren't you eating?"
maybe because you just announced to the whole world we're married with three kids and a dog ??? — is what you want to yell at him but instead, you calmly lie, "i have ibs."
wooyoung lets out a verbal 'LOL' then proceeds to rake his bag for a familiar green bottle of ibs medication. you don't even realise he's been carrying one of those with him—he doesn't even have ibs. wooyoung coolly hands you a pill. "take this."
"thanks," you mutter, pretending to swallow the pill only to swiftly spit it back into your palm when he's not looking.
ugh, why does it feel so awkward all of a sudden. awkwardness and wooyoung has never coexisted, even during your most embarrassing moments like that one time in eleventh grade when he walked in on you with nothing but your spongebob underwear on. or that one time he farted in the car and you almost died from the fumes. it's always been fun and games with wooyoung. nothing is ever serious for the both of you—that's why you click.
until now.
"y/n, what's wrong? i can see it in your face so don't even lie to me," wooyoung threatens playfully as he steals a bite from your cake.
"i don't know."
what you do know is wooyoung looks so good today with his long black hair, slicked back in a half-up ponytail with the hair tie he stole from your vanity. a few loose strands of hair covers his eyes; eyes that are gazing into yours like it's harbouring something you don't know. his ears are studded with chrome hearts earrings and a matching necklace that dangles off his neck—his favourite. he's wearing the black tee you got for him last christmas. the thought makes you flustered and you can't help but look away.
and of course, wooyoung being quick-witted and sly, instantly catches the dust of pink on your cheeks and smirks, "holy shit, y/n, are you ... shy?"
"no, i'm not!"
"you are!" wooyoung laughs, "no way, is it because of that interview?"
"oh my god, stoppp," you let out a muffled shriek in your palms.
wooyoung is enticed. he's never seen you this shy around him and honestly, he could really get used to it.
"oh, y/n," he coos, drawling your name in a tone so sweet, so flirty it makes your stomach flutter. "if you wanna get married, you could've just asked, silly girl."
he leans in from across the table and whispers, "you want my babies?"
you gawk at him in horror and flick a strawberry at his face. "you perv!"
"ah—" wooyoung yelps, wiping off the smeared cream on his eyelid, "you almost made me blind! the fuck— wait, where are you going?"
you pick up your bag and hurriedly scoot out of the booth. "away from your stupid ass. i can't be in the same space as you right now."
"what, is it 'cause i'm too hot?" wooyoung grins, "just sayin', we'd make a hot married couple, you and me– baby, come back!"

hey i wanted to request soft promt 37 with lando... idk its just really lando coded
i love you forever for sending me f1 prompts!! 💜 and it IS lando coded, thank you for requesting and i hope you'll like it!
fluff prompt: 'it's not a double date, we're just third and fourth wheeling.'
lando adjusts his jacket for the third time, ignoring carlos and his pointedly amused stare. he obviously has it easy - his girlfriend is right next to him and they both are sickeningly in love with each other, so it's not like he has to woo her with his appereance. unlike lando, who is very much single and has a job to woo you with his appereance. shit, does he have time to go back and change?
'cabron, you're overthinking this,' carlos says in attempt to calm him down. 'you look fine, i promise i wouldn't have set you up on a double date if i weren't sure that she likes you back.'
just the thought that carlos might be right, that you actually might lando back is enough to perk him up. carlos is not that cruel to joke about stuff like this and lando is...well, hopeful. his hope rise further when rebecca softly says that you two would make a great couple. he honestly can't agree more; his imagination painted that picture too many times in his mind of you two being together. god, you'd be so good to each other, he knows. he knows all of this, so he has no idea why he starts acting like an idiot when you turn up.
'this looks suspiciously like a double date from the outside,' you murmur, sliding up to the booth next to him, watching as carlos and rebecca argue about the drinks.
you look beautiful. stunning, really. which is what he is supposed to say but instead what comes from his mouth is: 'it's not a double date, we're just third and fourth wheeling.'
lando is ready to hit his head on the table, but then you laugh and oh. he is okay with being an idiot if it makes you laugh like that. he likes your laugh, like your smile. lando likes so many things about you, it's getting ridicilous how he has such a hard time articulating all of it to you.
'you two look cute,' carlos comments offhandedly.
'oh, do we?' you ask, turning to lando, smiling. 'not as cute as you two though.'
'we are cuter than them.' lando argues, when food arrives. 'how can you lie to them?'
he likes making you laugh. lando is sure that he looks like a lovesick puppy, but my god, if making you laugh was a job, he'd apply for it and stay in this position for as long as you'll have him. your eyes shine bright when you turn to him, sitting as close as this little booth allows you to. 'that's very confident,' you comment, chuckling. 'but we gotta let them win this one, lan. they are together, afterall.'
lando blinks. he can be such an idiot, but he surely can't miss this chance, right? 'then we should get together too,' he says quietly even though both carlos and rebecca are busy slow dancing on the dance floor. 'so we can win this argument.'
there's a pause when you try to gauge his reaction, to understand whether he's being real or not. lando just stares at you with all of the emotions written clearly on his face for you to see. 'just for the sake of winning this argument?' you ask at last, more serious but still smiling.
'for winning this life.' lando lets out and cringes at the same second, making you howl with laughter.
'oh my god, that was horrible!' you squeak, leaning on him, laughing.
'i can't believe i said that as well,' lando mutters, shy, but happily wrapping one arm around your shoulders. 'cringed so hard.'
'okay, lando norris.' you lean back, still laughing. 'okay. am i correct in assumption that you imply us being together will mean that we're winning this life?' lando nods, biting his lower lip. you smile softly, taking his hand in yours. 'i agree, then.'
lando fears his heart stopped. 'yeah?'
you lean in, brushing his nose with his. 'yeah.'
nevermind, his heart is fine. it's beating again, stronger than ever.

any romantic/nsfw headcanons for stanley pines in a relationship with a trans man who has top surgery already? can be young or old stanley, it doesn't matter
Admittedly, I've never written for a trans male reader, so I hope this came out good. Hope you enjoy it!
Stan Pines x Trans Male Reader
His dating pool is quite minimal if we're being honest here but when he meets you he's genuinely embarrassed, trips over his words a bit, and sweats more than normal. Definitely has the hots for you.
Over the years he's mellowed out and accepted that he could be into guys as well, keep in mind this is a fella who grew up in the 50s so expect him to be a bit nervous or rough around the edges. He shows a genuine interest in you and tries to woo you by giving a tour of the Myserty Shack, ending on the note of giving you his personal number.
Enjoys showing you off. Does not care for the age gap if there is one. Truth be told, he hadn't realized how lonely its been all these years. He really likes giving you kisses on the forehead or sneaking up behind you to tickle your sides in the morning. Will proudly grab your shoulder or waist in public and wiggle his eyebrows to make you laugh or get flustered.
In regards to your top surgery scars, he won't ask too many questions except for maybe did it hurt or how long it took to heal. If you ever feel uncomfortable about it or how they look, he'll smile gently before raising his own wife beater to show his aged body littered with scars, each one with stories from his younger days. Claims that you're both matching.
"They ain't somethin' to be worried about trust me." And he genuinely means it. He's not gonna pretend to know what you been through or force a story outta you. But just wants you to feel comfortable in your own skin, especially around him. Life is too short to be worrying unless you hear sirens.
He does like to kiss the scars or touch them. He likes how they feel under his fingertips.
He'll call you handsome, beefcake, cutie, or a shortened version of your name as terms of endearment. Wonders if it's appropriate to buy flowers for guys, too. He's a bit old school and might get you a bouquet of daises for the first date. If you do that for him, he'll nervously laugh and accept the flowers. If his eyes are watering no they're not.
On slow days, when it's just the two of you laying in bed, he likes to cuddle and caress your happy trail if you have one. If not, then he'll run his hands alongside your belly till he doses off.
nsft under the cut
He likes to top as it's something he's more used to and will gladly eat you out if asked. Enjoy when you wear more revealing outfits near him because his body will act like a hormonal teenager around you.
He's pretty good with his tongue and fingers, a bit on the rusty side, but enjoys hearing your moans when he slips his fingers inside your tight walls. He likes to edge you a lot since if he cums once it'll take longer for him to get it back up. His stubble when he leans in to kiss your neck during intercourse ironically makes you feel more sensitive.
Please sit on his face. He loves squeezing your ass a lot and smelling your natural musk right on his face, it drives him wild.
If you want him to use toys on you at first, he can't help be slightly offended. He ain't good enough for you? But you reassure him that it's a good way to spice up the night and help when he needs a break. He doesn't mind plunging dildos inside of you every now and then after that convincing argument, plus it's fun to push your limits with permission.
Pegging him, fingering him? It'll be a very long time before you can convince him to bottom for you or just try new things. It's unfamiliar territory but maybe you coax him just enough with a blowjob and a lot of explaining then maybe just maybe you'll be greeted with the view of a nearly knocked out Stan painted with his own cum, with your strap on deep inside his ass.

Quiet Comfort - [Gunwoo & Woojin] FEM
blurb:
A day in the life with your two big sweethearts, and some quiet comfort from the usually otherwise obnoxiously burly duo after a long day.
cw: not edited, second-person-pov, fluff, have fun with two giant puppies, poly relationship, use of the term 'jagiya/jagi', mentions of having hair, teasing, if you think they're ooc please let me know i'm trying to get used to writing them, i love them sm frfr
| masterlist | bloodhounds collection |
[2.0k]
"Woojin-ah! Have you seen my jacket?" You call out, head buried deep into your side of the closet.
Gunwoo pops his head in through the doorway instead, "Hm? Oh, I put it in the wash."
"In the wash?" You lean back out with a frown.
"Did you say my name!?"
"Don't mind! Gunwoo, I'm doing a stock run for the cafe. Your mum needs me to go, and it'll be cold," You draw out a whine after calling back to your other boyfriend's distant voice. He's probably splayed out on the living room couch.
Gunwoo's big eyes flicker, his face suddenly downtrodden and you quickly backtrack.
"It's fine. It should only be quick anyway, I'll be inside for the rest of the day."
"I'm sorry," Gunwoo's thick lips form into a big fat pout, his voice apologetically soft and you want to bite him, "you can use one of mine, or Woojin hyung's. If you want."
He shucks off the dark puffy jacket that he's wearing and quickly offers it to you.
Habitually, you open your mouth to decline before hearing the wind whistling through the miniscule gaps in the window. You glance outside. It even looks cold.
"Mm, you're running deliveries today, aren't you?" Your brows pinch in concern, gently pushing outstretched jacket back to his chest.
Gunwoo shakes his head profusely, using both his hands to reinstate his now no-returns offer.
"We're doing some training first. Then we'll start on the deliveries," he assures you, tone much more firm on the fact that the topic regards your wellbeing, "I'll be warmed up before then. And I can pick up the jacket in between runs." He adds onto the end quickly, subtly coercing you to accept his choice.
You take in a breath, assessing him silently.
Gunwoo's sized up, back straight and broad shoulders no longer sagging, as to appear more self assured and resolute. His big puppy eyes once slightly glossed over from your chiding now hardened with a quiet resolve.
You huff through your nose, accepting the oversized puffy jacket with a hidden smile, "...Alright. Thank you, Woo-ah."
You can barely stifle the giddy butterflies you feel when he smiles at you.
Later that day, Woojin gives you the fright of your life while you're on your way back to the cafe.
You scream when a familiar himbo comes barrelling at you from around the corner of the street, tackling you in a semi-sweaty hug.
"JAGIYAAA!"
"Woojin-ah!" You shriek, bracing your arms over your head as the impact with his torso sends you flying. The only thing stopping you from hitting the ground is his eager embrace that quickly follows, catching you and tethering you to him in a tight hug.
"Are you crazy!?"
"Aish~ I missed you," he nuzzles into you obnoxiously, ignorant to any passersby that send you strange looks.
"Yuck!" You can't help but laugh as his nose tickles you behind your ear. You can feel the perspiration glossing the skin of his neck and you grimace, pushing him away with a grin.
"I saw you this morning," you reason when he looks at you, offended.
His brows furrow, "Barely. And it's not the same."
You roll your eyes at him, though you suppose it is thrilling to bump into each other on pure coincidence.
"Did you finish a delivery?"
Woojin nods, "Mm. I'm on my way to the cafe. Gunwoo's going too. We were arguing which street was quicker, but then I saw you."
"Well, then he's definitely winning."
"..."
You laugh when his face drops.
Steam disperses from the bathroom doorway, condensation dripping down the glass of the shower while the mirror over the sink slowly dipleats itself of the fog lining it.
You sit on the bed clad in one of your boyfriends' shirts and a pair of panties, planning on applying your body lotion after drying your hair. With the tub of cream sat beside you, you eye your faint reflection in the window pane, ruffling your towel through your locks.
Your impatience results in the rough fabric lashing against your cheek, and you wince, blinking off the abrupt contact.
A tinge of frustration nips at you before you take in a deep breath to calm you down. It's been a long day, and your little spa routine was a way of helping you unwind.
The day's toll must've been a lot worse than you thought.
You let the towel fall from your head and onto your lap, staring at it blankly. You can feel a flurry of emotions toiling within you, but you don't have the energy to process them fully.
In no time, small unshed tears begin to glisten your lower lash line and you scrunch your nose. Why are you almost crying?
It's not like you haven't had bad days before--and you've definitely had worse.
"Jagi..?"
You don't even hear Gunwoo approach, still staring at your lap tiredly. Gunwoo's brows furrow, and he leans down slightly to peer at you in concern. A small gasp escapes him at the sight of your glossy eyes and wrinkled nose, and he sits himself down beside you.
He parts his lips to say something before thinking better of it, he watches you for a moment longer, thinking to himself quietly before gently prying the towel from your weak hands.
"Here, jagi. Let me do this for you." His voice is tender, patient and coaxing as he shifts his torso to face your back, and he starts to dry your hair for you.
The only response he garners is a soft sigh while you lean your head back at his careful touch. Your quiet acceptance has him smiling gratefully.
He's a little clumsy with his large hands, but he's mindful of his strength, and gets the job done.
Eventually, Woojin wanders into the room from the kitchen after wondering where his two partners disappeared to.
"Hey, do we want--" he stops short when Gunwoo whips around and shakes his head at him. Woojin narrows his eyes at him, and the younger motions his eyes towards you, and then he understands.
"--A-Ah... okay," he's quiet, taking a few more steps inside the room until he's stood in front of you. He crouches down, hands seeking purchase on your knees and he tilts his head to meet your vacant gaze.
He murmurs your name softly in a song like tune, "How are you feeling, hm?"
Gunwoo's activity ceases as he waits for you to speak.
You match his eyes with a little bit more life in them, feeling more soothed than frustrated now.
"Tired.."
"Yeah?" Woojin spies the tub of lotion by your thigh and nods towards it, "can I do that for you?"
Your eyes flutter in a soft blink, and he waits patiently. You look at the body lotion and then slowly draw your gaze back to your lap again. A sudden embarrassed heat crawls up your neck at the state of you: hair damp and body hunched, braless in an oversized shirt that hides your underwear from view with your naked legs on display.
"A-Ah..." you hesitate, lips parted unsurely. Suddenly bashful, you look over your shoulder at Gunwoo who blinks and gives you a light, unassuming smile.
You look back at Woojin, who's gaze never left your deliberating form. He rubs his thumb across your left knee comfortingly, eyes kind.
A soft breath escapes you, and you feel oddly reassured by them. Despite the mild fluster you feel at the intimacy of their attention, you nod and give and affirming hum.
He doesn't take that though. He wants to hear you.
With a gentle squeeze on your soft thigh, Woojin purses his lips and looks at you expectantly, though the upward twitch of his lips indicates his playfulness.
You whine, diverting your gaze shyly as you lean back against Gunwoo who chuckles at you. You look up at him for help, but scoff quietly in receiving none, and so you speak.
"Okay..."
Woojin beams, all crescent eyed and white teeth, "Thank you, jagiya~"
He reaches for the tub, unscrewing the lid and scooping up an appropriate amount for application--he's watched you do this a good few times now after all.
After lathering his hands, he starts with your right leg. Shifting so he's bent on one knee, he prompts you to lean your weight against Gunwoo while he rests your foot against his knee, big hands massaging the lotion into your skin.
Although his touch is innocent, you can't help but squirm nervously when his palms stroke up your thigh, and he grins.
He handles you firmly, placing pressure on all the right places that have you sighing in relief. Gunwoo starts playing with strands of your hair, even leaning down to place a lingering kiss on the shell of your ear.
"Feel better..?" He lets out a happy hum when you nod lazily.
Woojin finishes by lightly tickling the sole of your foot, grinning when you squeal and try to jerk away. He relents, letting out tug it out of his grasp before he taps your other leg, giving it the same treatment.
All too soon is it over, and Woojin places a teasing kiss on your shin with a squeeze to your thigh when you pout. You cringe at the tingling sensation it causes, slapping his hand away while he laughs at you.
The rest of your hair would be fine to air dry now, so when you flick the end of the towel away from you Gunwoo takes it, blowing against your neck playfully before he moves to put the towel away.
You can't help but watch after him endearingly. To be loved is to be known, and both Gunwoo and Woojin have done more than you could've ever asked for, and that's not just on accounts of that night.
They always taken care of you, always looking out for you: by walking you to and from places, to treating you out, checking in on you during times when you're separated, spoiling you whenever they can for no reason other than just because--they've done it all.
And you couldn't be anymore grateful.
The slightly open window allows a sharp evening breeze to graze across your bare skin, and you shiver.
Woojin perks up, "Ah, are you cold?"
Having heard from the bathroom, Gunwoo comes back, immediately rifling threw the dresser drawers while you answer the other with a nod.
Spying the goosebumps across your legs, Woojin runs a warm palm over them twice before feeling a breeze on the back of his head, and he clocks on.
"My turn!"
With the older standing up and closing the window, Gunwoo quickly slams the drawers shut and steals his spot in front of you.
You sit up, startled at the sudden movement, giggling when Woojin whirls around at the claim with an offended guffaw.
Gunwoo kneels in front of you this time, a pair of rolled up fuzzy socks in his hand while he tugs you closer to him. You laugh as you're pulled across the bed covers, the comforter bunching up messily.
Gunwoo's eyes crinkle at the sound of your laughter, and he unfurls the socks before slipping them over your feet. It goes about halfway up your shins, keeping your toes nice and warm and you hum contently.
Like Woojin did earlier, he runs his big hands over the rest of your exposed skin, smoothing down your cold caused bumps with his natural warmth. He tugs down your shirt so it covers your lower half a bit more modestly, though you notice he can't help but sneak in a quick squeeze on your hip.
His ears are a bit red, otherwise he smiles at you unaffectedly.
"Yah," Woojin claps him on the shoulder chidingly, though his tone is light hearted, "no fair. I saw that, you sneak."
"Hyung..." Gunwoo whines.
You can't help but grin at them, heart swelling with an incogitable fondness for your two big puppies. Any prior distress thoroughly dispelled thanks to the loving care of your two partners.
And you couldn't ask for more.

It’s been days. Days of staying safe behind the walls of their apartment, days of dodging calls from your friends, days of cocooned self preservation. They haven’t left you for a single minute. You spent the weekend trading off who’s lap you were cuddled on and bickering over episodes of Single’s Inferno and you’ve never needed anything more.
Slowly though, things start to shift.
You’re showered, for one. And Yunho and Mingi both have settled back into their routines as best they can without leaving the apartment. Video games, mindless scrolling, paging through books and cooking balanced meals instead of another day of takeout.
On Monday, Seonghwa confirms your worst suspicions by texting you a photo of the formal letter he received via Minseok’s attorney. You expect Yunho and Mingi’s are in the mail. Every time your phone chimes you expect it to be the police or some other official legal summons. Your mind has started to turn over every detail of the event with calculated detail, and your internet history stretches long with research.
By Tuesday, you’ve caved and finally started answering Wooyoung’s texts with more than just single word responses or emoji confirmations that you’re still alive. The moment you do, he takes the opening and runs with it just like you knew he would.
As you wait for the hot water for your tea to boil in the kettle, you re-read his most recent text again.
Do you want to get out of the house for a bit? We can try that new spot by the bookstore?
Your stomach feels tight at the idea of going out and you do your best to tap out a reply that you think sounds casual and relaxed - Maybe next time, let’s just catch up and relax here?
You watch the message send and deliver and in nearly real-time it flicks over to read. Dots appear as he types.
Sure - his message reads - I’ll be there in an hour
An hour. You shouldn’t be so nervous to see your best friend, but the idea of opening up your little sanctuary to anyone right now feels a little fraught. The kettle whistles, and you hear feet shuffling against the vinyl flooring as Yunho crosses over into the kitchen and you lock your phone and Wooyoung’s messages away so you can focus.
“Hey,” You murmur, giving him a smile as you pull the kettle off the heat.
“Hey,” Yunho smiles back, leaning against the opposite counter, “everything okay?”
“Mhm,” You tell him, just a little white lie.
“Is Woo still coming by?” He questions.
“Yeah,” You nod, setting the kettle on a pad so it doesn’t damage the countertop, “he said around an hour,”
Yunho nods and then slides a bit closer to you, his hand stroking up and down your back once until he settles it on your hip. “Hey,” he says again, “can we talk?”
A nervous pang strikes in your gut, but he doesn’t look upset, so you take a guess at what he wants, “Is it okay that he’s coming?”
“Wooyoung?” His brows draw together, “Of course, that’s not what I meant,”
“Oh,” You turn towards him more fully, leaning against the counter with him, “okay, what’s up?”
“I want to apologize,” He says, swallowing tightly.
“Apologize,” You blink.
He nods.
“Okay,” You can see how whatever he’s about to say is bothering him, the stress under the surface, but you have no idea what he’s sorry for.
“Listen,” He reaches and takes your hand, pulling you a little closer to him, “I know you know I’m sorry, but I haven’t said it clearly and you deserve that,”
“Oh,” You relax further into his space until you can feel your bodies brushing together, the warmth radiating off his skin.
“The way I reacted at the studio after your last heat was wrong,” He says in a rush of air as he laces your hands together, “and I haven’t gotten the chance to really say that,”
“It’s okay,” You shake your head, soothing him a little, “you don’t have to,”
“No,” He insists with a squeeze of your fingers, “I do. That day, I was worried and jealous and confused, but I let my anger get the better of me and that’s not something I normally do.”
You squeeze his fingers back, letting him know you’re listening.
His eyes flick up from your joined hands to your eyes as he continues, “It’s not something I should have ever put on you or something you should ever see,”
“People get angry,” You start to say.
He’s firm when he shakes his head, “People get angry, but I don’t get angry at you. Ever.”
“Yunho,”
“I yelled at you,” He squeezes your hands, “I cursed at you,”
“I did the same thing right back,” You remind him.
“It’s not the same,” He presses, brushing right past your words, “and I’m apologizing because I’m telling you, y/n, it will never happen again.”
“You think we’ll never have a fight?” You smile, “That’s optimistic,”
“This isn’t a joke,” He sighs, “please,”
“I’m sorry,” You tuck closer to him, unlacing your hands so you can snake your arms around his middle, “and I appreciate you apologizing for that fight, but I was upset you were being possessive and emotional after all the cold shoulder, you yelling wasn’t really high on my list of concerns,”
He’s quiet for a moment, but then he nods, “I’ll get to that in a second, but will you hear me on this one thing?”
“I’m listening,”
“I hate to bring it up again,” He grimaces a little, “but I’ve just spent four days watching you jump at every noise around the apartment and wake up every night fucking terrified,”
Your eyes shoot down.
“And before I apologize for all the other ways I’ve been an ass to you,” His warm hands settle on your skin, thumb brushing along your jaw, “of which I know there are many,”
You smile at that.
“Yelling at you like that,” He sighs, “talking to you like that has been bothering me for months. I need to apologize for it because I need you to know that you’ll never, ever hear it again. Mingi said his peace, but it’s important to me that you know you’re safe with me in every way. If we’re going to do this, I need you to know you can tell me anything, including telling me off when I make mistakes, and I won’t get angry like that again.”
“I already know that,” You look up, meeting his firm gaze and reaching for his cheek, “and I hope you understand that I know the difference between how you were angry then and what he did and how he spoke to me.”
“I just had to say it,” He nods, “I would hate it if anything I ever did made you afraid to be honest with me, or made you feel like you’ve been feeling the past few days, I’d never,”
“Baby,” You cup his cheeks in both hands, holding his eyes so he hears you fully, “I forgive you, and I am not afraid or uncomfortable with you or with Mingi. Not at all.”
“Good,” He exhales hard, his eyes a little shiny and you press forward to wrap your arms around him and hug him close, his arms closing around your back.
“If you’re being idiots,” You kiss his chest through the thin fabric of his t-shirt, “I’ll tell you you’re being idiots,”
He laughs low, the vibration running through your chest, “Good.”
“And if I’m being an idiot,” You add, “I’m not going to freak out if you get pissed at me or yell at me,”
“I appreciate that,” He squeezes your shoulders, “but I don’t want to be the guy that yells, that’s not really an alpha stereotype I’ve ever wanted to fit.”
“Okay,” You nod against him.
He clears his throat a little roughly and you’re about to pull away but he holds you steady for a moment, “There’s one more thing,”
Your hand strokes a line down his back, as you hum softly, “Hmm?”
“I have more to say and to apologize for,” You can feel his heart beating a little faster under your cheek and you stroke his back again, “but I’m still figuring out how to do that, and it might not be fair of me to ask, but I wanted to see if you can be patient with me for that.”
“Yunho,” You murmur, “what’s going on?”
“I, uh,” His fingers flex tightly against your skin, “I started seeing someone,”
“Someone?”
“Professionally,” He adds, “Mingi used to and I know it helped. I didn’t think I needed to, but I think we can both agree I am not the best at managing my own emotions here,”
“Oh,”
“So,” He breathes, “after our fight, when I finally cooled off and realized what we did I asked him for a referral. I’ve been meeting with her once a week and it’s been helpful, but I’m not ready to apologize to you for the rest of it until I understand why I treated you like that,”
Emotion fills your chest like a balloon and you nod into him, “Yunho,”
He clears his throat again, “Sorry,” he says, “this is a little uncomfortable for me to talk about, but I’m working on it,”
You wriggle out of his arms to find his face again and press up on your tiptoes to catch his mouth, kissing him with as much surety as you can before you lean back, “That means everything to me,” you tell him, “everything. You have all the time in the world from me, okay?”
“Yeah,” He smiles, “good, okay,”
“Is it helping?”
“Definitely,” He nods, “it’s almost like the professionals know what they’re talking about,”
You smile up at him.
“I know I mentioned it before,” He adds quickly, “and I won’t press it, but if you do feel like it would be helpful for you too, you can come to me and I can ask my therapist for some numbers for you to call. I’ll even help set up an appointment if you need that,”
Your chest goes tight at the thought, “I’ll let you know,”
“Okay,” He smooths a hand up and down your back, “no pressure,”
“For sure,” You manage.
His lip quirks up and he presses a long kiss to your forehead as he gives you one more squeeze, “I said I won’t press, don’t panic,”
“Sorry,” You breathe.
He makes a noise dismissing that and then steps back, “So,” his eyes are bright again, everything equalizing back to normal with his smile, “you were making tea, can I help?”
Your shoulders relax, tension bleeding out of you in an instant, “No,” you turn back to the warm kettle, “but can I make you a cup?”
“Sure,” He pulls two teacups down from the cupboard, “so Woo will be here in an hour?”
“Mhm,” You tap your phone to light up the screen to check for any other texts.
“Got it,” He nods, “would you feel alright with Mingi and I stepping out for a while?”
“Out?”
“I need to run by the studio and check in on things,” He explains, “and we need to get some food in here. I figured we could do that while Wooyoung keeps you company,”
“Yeah,” Your heart picks up a little at the thought, but you press that feeling down and drop a teabag in each of your cups, “I’ll be just fine,”
“Good,” He drops another kiss to your hair, keeping his fingers lingering on your skin while you pour hot water into your cups.
“Do you,” You almost stop the question, but you find the words bubbling out of your mouth before you can second guess, “do you need to leave right away?”
Yunho smiles wide, taking the kettle from your hands as he shakes his head, “No,”
Your heart eases a little.
“Let’s have these together,” He nods to the tea and picks up both cups, “we’ll go when Woo gets here,”
You follow him out into the living room, and he sets the cups down on the table before settling himself into the corner cushions and reaching up for you. It’s easy to take his hand and to melt into the familiar position on his lap, and you let him draw you in close and cuddle you, his arms wrapped securely around you as he nuzzles your cheek with his nose.
You sigh, resting your hands on his chest and turning your face a little to catch his mouth in a kiss.
He hums pleasantly against your mouth, “Is it strange to say that I’ll miss you while we’re out?”
You smile, shaking your head, “No,”
“Will you miss us?” He pecks your lips again.
“More than I want to admit,”
“You know,” Yunho smooths his hands over your body to rest in their familiar homes, one on your thigh and the other curled around your waist, “I hate what happened, and I wish I could take all the bad memories away, but I’m also so glad you’re here with us,”
“I know what you mean,” You nod.
“The months we spent apart were terrible,” He confesses, kissing you softly.
“We’ll have to make up for lost time,” You agree quietly.
“A proper date,” He smiles, “or a vacation somewhere warm?”
“Mm,” You hum, thinking of being stretched out on a beach somewhere with your boys on either side of you, “perfect,”
“I’ll think on that,” He runs a hand down your hair and relaxes back into the couch, “you deserve something nice,”
Twisting on his lap you reach for both of your teacups before settling back into the same, comfortable position, “I think it would just be nice to come over here without having something traumatic happen beforehand,”
He frowns a little.
“I’m kidding,” You nudge him softly, “kind of,”
“I know,” He nods, “still,”
“Yeah,” You quietly agree, taking the first sip of your tea.
Yunho takes a sip too, and then hums a short, quick laugh, “This smells like you,”
“Like me?”
“The tea,” He takes another sip and nods, “you smell just the same, but sweeter,”
“Do you like it?” You find yourself asking.
Yunho’s head cocks slightly to the side, a line between his brows, and then he says, “Have I not made it clear how much I love your scent?”
Your cheeks heat and he smiles at the way your skin reddens.
“Sweetheart,” He shifts, pulling you in while still being careful of the tea, pressing warm, lingering kisses over your jaw to the hollow of your ear, “if I could drink you instead, I would.”
You swallow, heat curling in your belly.
“Soothing tea,” He murmurs, “sweet honey,” he adds with a kiss, “and the willow is sharp and fresh. You wake me up and calm me down all at the same time,”
Your pulse quickens, and slowly your head drops to the side, extending the column of your neck to his lips.
He takes it slow, remembering the way you jerked back in bed a few nights before, and he’s careful not to press too firmly or give you any inclination that he’s going to touch you with anything but his lips.
“You smell like home,” He murmurs, his hand coming up to cup your head in his wide palm, kissing just a little lower still.
Your muscles are stiffening up at the feeling of his mouth getting lower towards your exposed gland and your fingers tighten on his shirt where you hold yourself steady.
“I’ve got you,” He whispers, “stay with me,”
You nod, just a little, enough to tell him not to stop, “W-what else?”
He smiles against your throat, “Well,” he kisses again, to punctuate his words, “when you’re happy, really happy or excited, there’s lemon too,”
Your breath feels staggered, thready, and you focus on the feeling of him and the warmth of the teacups against your thigh.
“When you want us,” He takes a deep inhale, sighing hot against your skin, “it’s all honey, thick and syrupy. After your heat I smelled that honey here for weeks,”
You feel a whine building a little in your throat, and you bite down on your lip to keep it buried. Your body feels like it’s fighting itself with every touch of his mouth, hot arousal knots up at his scent mingling with yours and at his words, but the isolated touch alone has you fighting little flashes of a place that isn’t here and isn’t him.
“I’ve got you,” He repeats, “I love you,”
The reply settles on the tip of your tongue, but then he presses one last closed-lipped kiss directly over your gland and withdrawals entirely. You blink hard, a shudder running up your spine.
“Alright?” He checks, smoothing his hand down your hair again.
You nod, letting your fingers unknot from his shirt while you collect yourself.
“Hopefully that answers your question,” He clears his throat softly.
You start to nod, but the sound of the bathroom door opening cuts through the moment and you start, tea spilling over the lip of your cup onto your fingers.
“It’s Mingi, baby,” He assures you.
“I know,” You have to tear your eyes off the hallway though.
His mouth is set in a concerned little line, and you know he’s probably thinking about your conversation in the kitchen again, but he lets it lie and doesn’t push it, just like he promised.
Mingi appears a moment later, a towel slung around his hips and his shoulders and hair wet from the shower. He smiles widely when he sees you both, “What’s going on in here?”
Yunho raises up his cup, “Tea,” he smiles, “nothing much,”
“Mm,” Mingi nods and stretches, “nice,”
“Will you be ready soon?” Yunho asks, “Wooyoung will be here in a bit,”
“Yeah, sure,” He confirms and then glances at you, “you’re good with us going out?”
“I’m good,” You confirm.
“I’ll stay if it would make you feel better,” Mingi adds, “I can hide in the bedroom and listen to music or something if you want privacy,”
You love them both so much in this moment you feel like your chest might crack right open on its own, and you shake your head at him with a smile, “No, I have to get comfortable at some point, it might as well be while Woo is here with me,”
He nods, “Well, we won’t be too far, just call us and we’ll turn around.”
“Thank you,” You reach up to take his hand and he twines his fingers with yours immediately.
Yunho shifts, pressing his lips against your shoulder, “Are you and Woo going out anywhere?”
He’s clearly trying to be subtle, but you hear the anxious note in his voice and it occurs to you that they might be just as nervous leaving you as you are staying here without them.
You shake your head, “No, just staying here,”
“That’s good,” Mingi adds a little too quickly, “if you do go out, would you let us know?”
“I will,” You promise them, “but you don’t have to worry,”
“It’s in our nature to worry over you,” Yunho sighs, “but I think we’re both trying not to be overbearing about this whole thing,”
“Trying,” Mingi shrugs, “but also the idea of not knowing where you are feels like it might give me hives,”
You laugh at the image, easing back into Yunho’s chest.
“To be clear,” Yunho shoots Mingi a look, “that’s in a nice ‘we care about you’ way, not in a ‘controlling boyfriend’ kind of way,”
“Relax,” You tell them both, “I get why you want to know, it’s the same reason I want to know where you are.”
“Studio first,” Mingi offers without you asking and your chest warms, “then groceries, and then I want to swing by that cafe that has that caramel cheesecake you like, then home,”
“Don’t say we don’t have to,” Yunho adds, “we want to,”
You smile as he takes the words right out of your mouth.
“Plus, I want some,” Mingi says with ease.
You’re not used to this type of relationship yet, having alphas of your own who actually want to be with you and take care of you, who worry for you and feel for you in all the deep nervous ways you feel for them. You hush the nagging voice in your mind that tries to tell you not to show them how much you need them, the voice that doesn’t want you to jump too fast, you already know what you get by listening to that voice.
Instead you ask them what you want to ask, “How long do you think you’ll be gone?”
“Two hours,” Yunho offers, “maybe three at the most,”
“Okay,” You exhale, weight dropping away from your shoulders, “that’s perfect,”
“We’ll let you know,” Mingi adds, “and if you need anything special while we’re out, we can stop,”
You shake your head, “I’m fine,” You assure them, “a little anxious, but you know, it’s good for me.”
Mingi smiles warmly, brushing his hand over your cheek and tilting your face up with his thumb and forefinger on your chin, “We’re a phone call away,”
“I know,” You nod.
Yunho sighs as Mingi’s hand drops away, and he kisses your shoulder again, “It’s funny,” he says, “I really don’t want to leave you,”
“We did just spend three months not seeing each other and in a state of constant relationship limbo,” You point out and give him a squeeze, “we really went from nothing to a whole lot of something fast,”
“Not too fast?” Mingi checks, trying to sound casual.
“No,” You say, “and even if it is, I don’t care,”
“We’ve always felt right together,” Yunho adds, “we’re just letting ourselves enjoy it now,”
He’s never said something so true.
Mingi gets dressed and collapses onto the couch next to both, pushing closer into your space with Yunho until you’re both practically on his lap, but it works. You stay knit close together until there’s a knock on the door and then it’s fast kisses goodbye and big hugs from your best friend, and before you can really process it you’re without them for the first time in days.
Your stomach is fluttering, a nervous quiver deep in your gut that you really don’t want Wooyoung to over-analyze. A moment later you find yourself back on the couch in the warm spot Yunho left, wrapping yourself in the blanket you had all shared the night before. You can smell them on it, earthy, warm, and sweet.
Wooyoung watches as you start to relax, and he takes a seat right next to you to keep close, a closed smile on his lips.
You can’t believe you miss them already.
They must miss you too though, because Mingi only makes it a scant ten minutes before he texts you, his message lighting up your phone - Forgot to say I love you - I love you.
“What?” Wooyoung nudges you under the blanket.
You pass your phone to him and he reads the message, his eyebrows shooting up high, “I leave you alone for a few days and you’re all saying ‘I love you’s?”
You grab the phone back and tuck it away, “That’s the thing about life changing trauma,” you laugh, “it really accelerates the big feelings,”
Wooyoung nods, keeping things light, but finds your hand on the back of the couch so he can hold it.
“Also we’re not all saying it,” You confess, “they’re saying it,”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean they’ve told me,” You explain, “the day after the studio we had this big talk,”
“Don’t tell me they put all that shit on you like that,” He wraps his hand around yours, “y/n,”
“Not like that,” You shake your head, “it’s actually hysterical, they thought that Seonghwa and I have been dating,”
His eyes go wide, “What?”
“It’s truly the longest story of miscommunication,” You tell him, “at this point I think someone should write a book about me and make it a romantic comedy,”
“Erotica,” Wooyoung smirks.
“Shut up,” You swat at him.
“There have been too many good orgasms for a romcom,” He shrugs.
You roll your eyes, “Anyways, it turns out the whole not talking period while you were all away was just me pining but feeling like I fucked it up, and them pining but thinking I had moved on with Hwa,”
“Damn,”
“But when they realized that they were wrong about that,” You continue, “we just got it all out there,”
“And they love you,” He smiles a little, “and they actually said it,”
“Yeah,” You soften into the cushions.
“I hate to ask the obvious,” He squeezes your hand, “but if you’re so happy about that, why haven’t you told them? You do love them?”
“So much,” The words fly out like you’re defending something, and you run a hand through your hair as you get your real thoughts steady, “I do, Woo, so much. We’re scent matches,”
“I know,” He nods warmly.
“You do?”
“Anyone with eyes can see that,” Wooyoung smiles, “well, apart from you three.”
“Thanks,”
He nudges your thigh with his foot under the blanket, “Honestly, though, after what happened I could see it on them. You couldn’t keep your hands off each other, and they kept flanking you, watching you like you might disappear,”
A memory of the studio plays like a clip in your mind, the way they held you between them, the three of you against everything. You nod, “They’ve been doing that for days,”
“Which…” Wooyoung trails off, trying to guess where your head is, “you’re happy about?”
“I am,” You nod emphatically, “and I love them, I just… I can’t get the fucking words out of my mouth,”
He sobers a little, sliding closer to you on the couch so he can draw your legs over his lap and give you exactly the kind of comfort you need, “I’m listening, babe, talk to me,”
“I don’t know why,” You hold his hand tighter, “but every time they say it, and I think I’m going to say it back, I’m right back in that room with Minseok’s teeth on my neck and I can’t,” your chest feels tight, “I can’t get it out,”
His eyes soften, empathetic in the way that only he can be, “Does being in love with them scare you?”
“No!” You pull your hand back from his.
“Babe,” He takes your hand back and holds tight, “I’m not saying they scare you, I’m saying does being in love, being vulnerable like that scare you?”
Your shoulders drop, “A little, but,”
“But?”
“I thought about it for three months,” You argue, “I had it rehearsed, I knew exactly what I wanted to say and the big reveal was supposed to be the ‘I love you’ part not the ‘I’m sorry’ part,”
“Your plans on that kind of fell apart when that asshole tried to claim you,” Wooyoung pushes back a little.
“Yeah, no shit,” A flurry of anger bubbles in your belly.
He nods, “And now you’re off kilter,”
“You could say that,”
“You rarely do anything without thinking it through,” He offers, this thumb drawing a comforting line over your palm, “and your plan got fucked, and you’re emotionally vulnerable, and traumatized, and stressed. You feel like you’re out here without a life vest,”
His words stun you silent.
“And this thing you worked up in your mind for three months is now totally derailed,” He continues, “am I on the money?”
You nod.
“Can I ask you something?” He says.
You nod again.
Wooyoung asks this question softly, his voice quiet and gentle, “Do you want to bond with them?”
Your heart thumps in your chest.
“It’s just you and me,” Wooyoung soothes you, “and whether or not you bond with them is your choice, okay? But, babe, is that something you think you’ll want?”
Suddenly you remember the feeling of your heat with them. The way you begged for them, the way it felt so right and so sure that you belonged to each other. You remember how your mind spun imaginary futures that all ended the same way.
Silently, you nod.
“Loving them isn’t bonding,” He murmurs, “you can just love them for now at your own pace.”
Tears prick at the back of your eyes, “What if I can never do it? They can barely touch my neck without me falling apart, what if I can never take a real claim?”
“Oh, babe,” He pulls you towards him, crushing you to his chest, “I wish you called me earlier, you shouldn’t be thinking like this,”
“It was so terrible,” You confess into his shoulder, “I can’t even tell you, I don’t even know how to explain,”
“You don’t have to,” He hushes you, a hand stroking up and down your back, “and I don’t know if this is going to help or hurt, but I know right now you feel like there’s no way you’d ever be able to take a claim without it being scary and awful, but someday you might be able to without even thinking of him.”
A few hot tears escape your eyes.
“And I know I give Yunho and Mingi shit,” He adds, “but you know that both of them would rather die than do something to hurt you or scare you,”
“And if I can never bond?” You manage.
“Then I’d say thank god your scent matches are two men who would never, ever push you into a bond you weren’t ready for,” He says, squeezing you tight, “and I think if you asked them, they’d tell you that they’d rather be with you unbonded and happy than bonded and in pain.”
“You’re right,” You wipe away the wetness on your cheeks, “I know you’re right,”
“They’re not going to try to push you into a bond just because you love each other,” He lets you lean back but he slides his hand back into yours, “especially not now,”
“I know that,” You sigh, “rationally, I was just,”
“I’m telling you, I get it,” He eases you, “sometimes you go through something and you think a part of you is wrecked forever, that you’ll never be able to do something again or feel normal again, but you will. I promise,”
You know the truth of him so suddenly you can’t stop the words, “Woo,” you feel your heart beating faster, “did something happen?”
“A long, long time ago,” He says softly, “and today’s not the day for that story, but I’m telling you it does get better and it does soften in your memory and someday your alphas are going to touch your neck and you won’t even think about it, it just won’t be there anymore.”
Grief and relief mingle in your gut at his words, and you want to ask him more, to be there for him like he’s been there for you but you can see it in his face, today isn’t the day for that story.
You squeeze his hand, “I love you, Woo,”
“I love you too,” He assures you.
Silence sits between you for a moment while you turn over his words, and though you can’t imagine the day he’s describing, you still believe him. You have to. You don’t know what happened to him or when, but you’ve never met someone as bright and open and happy as him, and you have to hold onto that truth.
You look down at your combined hands, “Yunho offered to make an appointment with a therapist for me,”
“Say yes,” Wooyoung replies without a thought, “I waited years and I wish I hadn’t,”
“Yeah?”
“Does he have a contact?” Wooyoung asks, drawing your eyes back up, “I have some options for you if not,”
“He said he can ask his therapist for a referral,”
“His therapist?” Wooyoung grins, “I knew I liked him,”
“You’ve been friends for years,” You nudge him.
“Liked him for you,” He corrects, “that’s different,”
“Yeah, yeah,”
“My best friend deserves an alpha who is fully therapized and capable of complex emotions,” Wooyoung says with confidence, “nothing less.”
“Don’t mention that I told you,” You add quickly, “he told me that in confidence, it just slipped out,”
“I wouldn’t,” Wooyoung shakes his head, “that’s private. But between you and me, I’m glad to hear it.”
“Me too,” You sigh.
“And as far as you going?” Wooyoung circles back to the real question at hand, “Say yes, the sooner the better. If Yunho’s offering to help set it up, let him. Making that call is hard, and if he can make it easier, just say yes.”
“Okay,” You sigh, your shoulders dropping.
“And tell them how you’re feeling about bonding,” He adds, “trust me.”
“Maybe,” You say, “I know you’re right. We’re just moving so fast,”
“So slow down,” He offers.
“I don’t know if I want to,” You admit, warmth and nervous energy filling your chest, “it feels right like this, I just don’t know if I can handle a claim,”
“Tell them,” He reiterates, “don’t let them stumble into that one, they might hurt you without even knowing it if they bring it up sooner than you’re ready for.”
“Right,” You nod, “you’re right,”
He huffs a laugh, “Usually am,”
You flick his arm, rolling your eyes, so grateful at him for helping you work through something this hard while still keeping you smiling. You should have called him earlier, he’s right about that too.
You let silence stretch around you both for a moment, and then something occurs to you.
“Do you know anything about the charges Minseok is filing?” You run a hand through your hair, “Not to bring up yet another pleasant subject,”
Wooyoung snorts a little air through his nose and shrugs, “I probably know what you know, have you talked to Hwa?”
You shake your head.
“At all?” He seems surprised.
“I have,” You correct, “but it was quick and we were all on the call. I haven’t been to my place to see if there’s any mail, but I’d guess Yunho and Mingi will get a summons soon.”
Wooyoung nods, “That’s what the police said,”
Your eyebrows raise, “You talked to the police?”
“Seonghwa did,” He clarifies, “and he gave San and I the run down.”
“Why is no one telling me what’s going on?” You exhale heavily.
“Because last we heard you were having nightmares,” Wooyoung rests a hand on your folded legs, “and we don’t have a lot of information to give, and I don’t think any of us want to cause you more stress than you need.”
“Do Yunho and Mingi know?” You press.
“Not exactly,” Wooyoung says, “though, I guess Seonghwa might be telling them now if they stopped by the studio,”
You wait for him to continue, but you’re a little relieved at least that your boys aren’t keeping anything from you directly.
“Seonghwa spoke to the police who explained the charges. Minseok is alleging that the guys misunderstood what they saw and ignored his attempts to explain, and that they used unnecessary force intervening on your behalf.” He says it plainly.
“Misunderstood?” You repeat the word.
“I know,” Wooyoung nods, “we all know, but that’s what he’s saying. The police advised Seonghwa to get an attorney and let him know that further charges were being filed. I think we can safely assume that’s Yunho and Mingi, maybe San if he’s really going after it.”
“Maybe me too,” You add.
“Maybe,” He nods, “but that would be tough to prove I think,”
“Hmm,” Your eyes feel a little unfocused.
“Hey,” Wooyoung gets your attention with a squeeze, “we don’t know anything yet, and we thought this might happen. It doesn’t change the truth and it doesn’t mean any of them regret what they did to make sure you were safe, okay?”
“Yeah,”
“Tell me you understand,” He presses, “because I’m not letting you put this one on yourself,”
“I do, I understand,” You nod, “it just sucks,”
“That’s fair,” He gives you a soft smile, “but it’s going to take a lot more than this to fuck us over,”
“Yeah,” You murmur, “you’re probably right.”
Wooyoung says something else but you hardly hear it, in the back of your mind all you can think of is that first night at the hospital. The detectives who interviewed you were kind, but bordered on dismissive, and you know Minseok and his family have deeper pockets than you do. You have to figure this out, you have to.
“Babe?” Wooyoung nudges you.
“Yeah,” You snap up, coming back to the present moment and letting those anxieties fade into the background until you can really think them through, “sorry,”
“It’s okay,” He soothes you.
Your phone buzzes on your lap again and you pull it up to see the message. It’s Mingi again - Budae Jjigae for dinner, ask Wooyoung if he wants to stay? We’ll have plenty
It’s like he felt your anxiety from miles away and you can feel the tense knot of your shoulders unlocking. You send back a quick heart emoji and then look back up to your friend, “You want to stay for dinner?”
He smiles, “Who’s cooking?”
“Mingi,” You tell him, “he’s been on a comfort food kick for me,”
Wooyoung smiles, “I’ll stay,”
“Great,” You tap out a reply to Mingi letting him know and take a big sigh.
“They make you happy,” Wooyoung says, “it’s nice to see,”
“It’s nice to feel,” You tell him, “after all this time, and after everything,”
“You deserve it,” He murmurs.
You smile, a little tease at the corner of your mouth when you nudge him, “So do you, and speaking of,”
His face lights up fast, “I wasn’t trying to bring my too-good mood over here if things weren’t going well,” he sighs, “but now that I know you’re all in love,”
“So you and Yeosang?” You turn the conversation to something so much happier, and feel lighter the second you do.
“It’s so good,” He gushes, head falling back against the cushions, “he’s kind of quiet, kind of hard to get to know at first, but y/n, he’s so funny,”
“Yeah?” You smile.
“And smart,” He adds, “and considerate, he’s always getting me coffees or refilling my water, just like, those little things,”
“Wow, look at you,” You squeeze his hand, “serial dater of alphas, turned into a blushy mess over a funny, smart, considerate beta,”
“He’s packing like an alpha, I’ll say that,” Wooyoung grins wolfishly.
You smack his chest, “Woo! Literally that is too much information,”
“Please,” He rolls his eyes, “I share a locker room with your boyfriends, I know what you’re working with,”
You feel your face flush red.
“Cute,” He teases.
“So,” You divert, “does Yeosang feel as strongly?”
His smile drops a little, “I mean,” he says, “I think so? But he’s not really an oversharer,”
“Have you told anyone else?” You try to be casual about that question, but if you’re being honest you’re dying to know where things will land with San and Seonghwa.
Wooyoung shakes his head though, “Not yet, but I think when everything calms down I might have him pick me up at the studio or something? I want you to meet him and I want everyone to know, I just,”
“I get it,” You assure him, “you go at your own pace.”
“Yeah,” He sighs.
“Just don’t follow my lead,” You smile, “if you like him, don’t run away in a panic,”
“Noted,” He laughs.
He looks so happy, bright from the inside in a way that matches his sunny scent, and you think he’s not far from sharing ‘I love you’s of his own at this rate.
You squeeze his hand again and catch his attention back, “You really look so happy,” you tell him.
“I am,” He sighs, “he’s exactly what I needed,”
You smile, and then push his legs to the side, “Move over, I know you have pictures, you’re holding out,”
He laughs sharply, head falling back but letting you manhandle him a little so you can snuggle into his side. Wooyoung tugs the blanket around you both and pulls out his phone, “Fine,”
“Like it’s a burden to show your best friend pictures of your hot new boyfriend,” You smack his chest, “come on,”
Wooyoung drops his arm around your shoulders until you’re slotted together on the corner of the couch, but he still hasn’t lit up his phone. You’re about to nudge him again, but then you feel him press a soft kiss to your hair.
“You know,” He says softly, “when Sannie called me and told me what happened, I just felt so sick,”
You find his other hand under the covers and lace your fingers together, “I’m okay,”
He nods, sighing into your skin, “I just want you to know,” he says, his voice a little tight, “you mean so much to me, and I’ll be grateful to them forever for stopping him,”
You blink back a few tears and nod, “I am okay, though,”
He nods again and clears his throat, “I know,”
“I think you’re avoiding my questions about Yeosang,” You squeeze his hand tightly, an acknowledgement of his emotions and his words, while steering the conversation back to happier topics.
“You’re right,” He laughs, “you caught me.”
“Come on,” You nudge him again, pushing down the little swell of emotion that his words brought up.
“He’s not really a selfie guy,” Wooyoung slides his finger across his phone screen until he finds Instagram and then navigates to his new man’s page, “but, I don’t know, I think you’ll like his vibe.”
Your face cracks into a wide smile when you see the profile, clearly that of an artist, a photographer. The first post on his page is of Wooyoung, though you’d have to know Wooyoung well to know it. He’s walking away from camera through a dark Itaewon street, the lines of his body accented by the neon club signs.
“Oh, Woo,” You relax against him and open that photo to see it larger, “he really likes you,”
He snatches the phone away, a little pink in his cheeks as he rushes to downplay the truth of what you can see plain as day, and you fight to get back the phone, your cheeks starting to hurt from how much you’ve been laughing.
You and Wooyoung stay like this for ages, warmly locked together as you swap stories and funny things on both your phones. By the time your phone chimes with another text from Mingi, at least two hours have gone by.
Almost home! His message reads.
Your chest feels warm, your heart whole at the words.
“They’ll be back in a minute,” You tell Wooyoung as you set your phone aside.
“Perfect,” He grins, “so exactly how much teasing can I get away with before you get mad?”
You fall apart again into laughter, happy tears stinging at your eyes. You don’t hear the front door open at first, but when you finally look up you see them standing frozen in the doorway with such softness in their expressions. You feel the words bubble up at the sight of them, but again they stay resting at the tip of your tongue.
Wooyoung rolls his eyes and pushes off the couch, “Alright, alright stop making heart eyes at each other and tell me what’s in the box,”
Your eyes flick down to the large white box in Mingi’s hand, the perfect cheesecake nestled inside waiting just for you. Wooyoung takes a few grocery bags out of their hands and heads off to the kitchen, and just like that your night falls together naturally.
You don’t think about Minseok again until later that night. For a beautiful, blissful four hours you just laughed and ate and relaxed with your best friend and your boyfriends, and he doesn’t enter your brain at all.
It isn’t until you’re lying in bed alone with your thoughts, Yunho and Mingi deep asleep on either side of you, that you realize what you have to do.
In the morning you wake from a dreamless sleep, and you start to put your plan in motion. You slip out of bed and leave them to their rest, light only just stretching its way through the Seoul skies outside. Seeing Wooyoung made you feel lighter in a way that you can’t explain, and within minutes you’re scrawling out a note, stealing Mingi’s key, and lacing up your sneakers.
Out for a walk, be back in a little while, don’t worry too much x
You leave it on their kitchen counter and you hope it’s enough to keep them from looking for you. You need a little space from your own scared reflection in the mirror, and a new perspective on the plan you’ve been turning over since your head hit the pillows last night.
The note isn’t a lie, strictly speaking, you are out for a walk, but you also know if you told them exactly where you were on a walk to, they'd worry. They wouldn’t just worry, they would have insisted on coming with you, but this is something you have to do alone.
You take the long way to the hospital down the river path, letting the cool day calm your mind and keep you centered. You go over in your mind all the things you want to say to him when you see him, assuming you actually make it into his room. You wonder how hard it will be to convince him. You wonder if you’ll even be able to get a single word out of your mouth.
You have to try.
Yunho’s words from yesterday morning in the kitchen sink into you. The tenderness in his eyes when he mentioned how jumpy you’ve been around the apartment. You hadn’t even realized it, but now you feel it in your shoulders and your stomach with the sound of every opening door, every squeak of a shoe on vinyl flooring. Everytime you look up into a mirror you expect to see a face over your shoulder, to feel hands on your hips.
Minseok had taken so many little things from you in the span of three minutes.
You need to take something back.
Every step leading into the hospital is heart pounding and nerve wracking, stress inducing on a level you’ve never experienced, but standing in front of reception you suddenly feel an overwhelming calm. Your mind is clear, operating on something wholly unconscious and you don’t know where you’ve mustered this feeling from, but you let it take you.
You give over Minseok’s full name and provide the kindest smile you can to the woman behind the desk,“I’m his sister,” you tell her. The lie rolls right off your tongue, so clean and easy you surprise yourself.
“Oh,” The nurse nods, “well visiting hours don’t start until eleven,”
“I have work,” You counter, softening your face, “I’m sorry, but do you think you could make an exception? I’ll be very quick, I just want to see him for a few minutes before I have to run,”
She considers it, and you know you have her the minute she checks the nurse’s station to see who else is there with her before she breaks a rule, “Alright, but just be quick, five minutes,”
“Thank you so much,” You smile, “really, you’re so kind,”
She waves you off, glancing around her again, “He’s in 305, the third door down on your left when I open the doors,”
“Thank you,”
She presses a button on the wall and the lock springs free, opening the heavy security door to your side. With one last smile and deeply grateful bow, you slip through the door and make it through into the hospital hallway where you are most definitely not supposed to be.
Third door on the left.
You have to be quick, not so you don’t get caught, but so you don’t chicken out. If you stand in this hallway and let yourself really think about what you’re doing, you’ll turn right around and go home. Steeling yourself, you rush forwards and find the door to 305 and with a deep breath you slip inside.
Private rooms are expensive, that thought occurs to you as you shut the door tightly behind you. That fact, plus the reality that he’s already talking about pressing his own charges, tells you Seonghwa was right, he has some kind of family money. You hope that when you turn around and actually face the room you won’t have to contend with his mother or father or god forbid some girlfriend you know nothing about. You need him to be alone.
Blissfully, the room is quiet, the only sounds are medical and simple. With your palms flat against the door you take a deep breath, and if Minseok is awake he says nothing, makes no sound, while you gather the nerve to do this.
Finally, you turn.
He is awake, studying you with a careful expression, but then your eyes flick over him. He’s more than injured, he’s completely incapacitated. You catalog it all quickly - his leg suspended in an elevating sling, ankle wrapped up tight, wrist sprained and in a brace, his face is bruised and battered and you realize in seconds that his broken jaw is wired shut. He has an oxygen cannula tucked into his bandaged nose, and you remember that his ribs are broken too.
You wonder which of your boys delivered each piece of punishment.
Your mouth feels dry, and your pulse is quickening, the sight of him so close is enough to induce panic but he can’t really do anything to you in this state so you have to just be brave. You push yourself off the wall and walk to the end of his hospital bed, “Hey,”
He gestures to his jaw and shrugs to communicate that he can’t really talk.
“I know,” You nod, “I heard.”
It’s strange to be here with him like this when last week you were working side by side. It’s bizarre to suddenly feel this bubble of uncomfortable space and distance, and to feel the fear underneath it all.
He gestures towards you with his bandaged hand and you know he’s asking why you’re here.
“I heard about the counter charges,” You came here with a purpose and you have to stick to it, “and I came here to ask you to drop them.”
He shakes his head and looks down at himself and then back up to you.
“After what you did?” Anger curls up in your belly, “I think they took it pretty easy on you.”
He huffs, a puff of air from his closed lips.
“Listen,” You try, “you and I both know what you tried to do, and whatever your excuse is, it doesn’t matter. If they hadn’t gotten you off me… I guess what I’m saying is do the right thing now. You said you were sorry, just drop these charges and we can all move on.”
His eyes harden and he shakes his head.
You thought he was apologetic after, coming to his senses and realizing in the haze of his rut he almost broke someone’s mind, but now you’re starting to think he was just pleading for his own beating to stop.
“You won’t consider it?” You ask, stomach clenching tightly.
He shakes his head again and points to his injuries. Jaw, ribs, leg.
You want to hit him yourself, so suddenly that your fingers curl tight into fists, “You tried to fucking claim me because I wouldn’t go out on a date with you, and you think you’re the victim here?”
He seems irritated by your question, and he reaches for something on the tray table to his side. He pulls up a small whiteboard and marker, clearly given to him by hospital staff to communicate, and he wipes away the words that were there to write out his message to you.
I’m the one in a hospital bed.
“You bastard,” The words just slip out, “why do you think? They put you here for a fucking reason, Minseok,”
He wipes the message away and writes something else.
Keep your alphas on a leash.
You’ve never understood the phrase ‘seeing red’ before, but now it’s meaning is crystal clear, “You should keep yourself on a leash.”
He huffs.
“Using tone to submit an omega is illegal, Minseok,” You round the corner of the bed, “the prison time for something like that is long. It’s not even just assault, I think that’s something like three or four years? But using tone… claiming against an omega’s will? That’s irreparable damage. I wonder how many charges they’d stack on top in court? Psychological trauma? Sexual assault?”
His eyes darken and he wipes the board again, his marker squeaking roughly against it as he angrily writes out the next message.
I never touched you like that.
“You would have,” You shake your head, “as soon as I was your nice obedient omega and couldn’t say no.”
He stares daggers, but says nothing.
“They might be able to prove intent,” You tell him, “throw a few more years on top for good measure. How old do you think you’ll be when they let you out? Do you think a dance studio would hire a forty year old man?”
His face pales, he looks sick suddenly.
“You’ll drop the charges,” You tell him, “and when you do, I’ll drop mine.”
His eyes widen.
“You’ll never set foot in the studio again, and you’ll go find another job somewhere else.”
His eyes skim over you, trying to gauge your honesty.
“Do you understand me?” You don’t know what’s possessing you, what’s holding you up so you can get these words out, but you’ve never felt more sure.
He says nothing.
You lean in closer, close enough that if he was uninjured he could easily have you back in control, but with his jaw wired shut and his lack of mobility, he can’t do a thing. Nerves flutter up your body as you lean in, and you’re sure he can smell Yunho and Mingi on you, but the guarantee that he can’t touch you is filling you with a sick sense of power, of sure joy.
“You tried and you failed,” You tell him, and he huffs, “and that’s on you.”
His cheek twitches and you’re sure he’d be clenching his jaw if he could do it without exceptional pain.
“You’ll do this for me, you owe me,” You hold his gaze despite the flutter of fear it brings you, “and if you don’t, I don’t care what it takes. I’ll see you in court and if that doesn’t work, I’ll make sure that you never, ever get hired again. Every studio in Korea will know what you did, and every omega in Seoul will know what you really are, and if you ever get close to me again after today I’ll break your jaw myself.”
His eyes flick down.
“Do you understand me?” You repeat, enunciating clearly.
He nods once.
“Good,” You push back from him and get some distance, “get the charges against all of them dropped by tomorrow and I’ll call and withdraw mine. Don’t ever come back to the studio, if you left stuff there consider it gone.”
He holds your gaze, and then he writes out a question - How do I know you’ll keep your word?
“You don’t,” You shrug, “but I promise you I wouldn’t be here in this room with you at all if I wasn’t willing to drop them.”
He turns your words over.
“Minseok,” You sigh, “they mean more to me than watching you go to jail, please, just do the right thing.”
He wipes his hand again across the whiteboard and then he shifts, looking back up to you to nod in agreement.
“You’ll do it?”
He nods again and then picks the marker back up to write something.
“Don’t,” You stop him, “there’s nothing you can say I want to hear. Just do this and we’ll be done.”
He looks away and without meeting your eyes again, he nods.
“Don’t make me come back,” You press him, but he doesn’t respond and that will have to be enough. You’ve done what you came to do.
You’re out of his room in a flash, back through the security doors and quick past the front desk. You don’t spare a single glance at the nurse who broke the rules for you, you just need to get out of here before you let the reality of what you’ve done hit you sideways. You don’t let a single thing consume you until you’re out of the hospital and on the street again, and you sink down onto the first available bench.
Your heart is pounding, hands trembling. You need to get this under control before you go home because the last thing you want is to cause Yunho and Mingi anymore stress or heartache. You give yourself some time to come back into your body, to forget the hard set of Minseok’s eyes and the way his fingers twitched when you got too close, the way you fought the curling panic in your gut to get the words out.
When you do feel whole again, you order a taxi back. You’ve been gone a while, probably a little longer than they expected, and you hope they’re not worried.
Using Mingi’s borrowed key, you slip into the apartment and let their scents wash over you, soothing you instantly. You shut the door quietly behind you and toe off your shoes before calling out, “Is anyone home?”
You hear movement immediately, Mingi from the kitchen and Yunho from his bedroom and it fills you with warmth.
“Hey,” Mingi gets to the living room first, “how was your walk?”
“Really good,” You tell him, and that’s the truth. The walk itself was nice until you cut it short with your little errand.
“You look good,” He smiles, and Yunho appears from his side of the apartment as Mingi continues, “fresher,”
“Yeah,” You sigh, “it’s a beautiful morning out,”
“Hey,” Yunho says, smiling at the sight of you.
“I’m sorry I didn’t wake you,” You say, “I just wanted to clear my head a bit, so I hope you don’t mind that I borrowed your key,”
Mingi shakes his head as you hang his keyring up by the door.
“We’ll have to get one made for you,” Yunho says, “if you want,”
You let the implication of that lie and you nod, but excitement sparks in your belly.
“Is there any coffee?” You ask, moving into the apartment and heading towards the kitchen. You need to tell them where you’ve been, but you just need a breath before you can.
“Mhm,” Mingi says, “I just made a cup,”
“Oh,” You shake your head, “I don’t want to take yours, I’ll make my own.”
“No, no,” He slides behind you and presses a kiss to your hair as he does, “take it, I’ll make another. Yunho, do you want one?”
“I’m good,” He replies, coming to stand next to you at the small kitchen island.
Mingi looks like he’s thinking about something as he finishes off your cup of coffee and throws an electric kettle back on to make another pourover, but Yunho draws your attention away.
“Jagi,” He starts, “I don’t mean to… well, can we talk to you about something?”
“Sure,” You angle towards him, his words making you a little nervous, “is everything okay?”
“Absolutely,” He assures you, brushing his hand down the length of your arm, “but Mingi and I were talking while you were gone, about how to handle everything with these charges,”
“Oh,” His timing is impeccable.
“We just want to include you,” He says, squeezing your hand, “and make sure we’re handling things the way we should, but it might be smart to try and hire a lawyer before this goes any further,”
You’re not sure how you’re supposed to say this.
“We talked to Seonghwa and he agrees,” Yunho continues, “this will be the easiest way to protect all of us,”
“Yunho,” You start, “hang on,”
“If this is upsetting we can talk about it later,” Yunho adds, “but Seonghwa has some connections through his parents, he wants to make some calls.”
Your stomach twists at the idea of Seonghwa needing to lean on a favor from his parents, and every choice you made that morning becomes perfectly validated with just that thought. You would never, ever let him do that, not after everything he’s done for you.
“It’s not upsetting,” You assure Yunho, trying to interject, “I just don’t think that will be necessary,”
“Getting a lawyer?” He clarifies.
“Yeah,” You swallow hard and glance at Mingi, “I don’t think we’ll need to.”
“I mean, having representation would be best,” Yunho says, “I know it’s stressful, but we need to be careful,”
“Right,” You sigh, needing him to give you a breath to explain, “that’s if there’s a suit,”
“Well sure, but,” Yunho starts but the penny drops for Mingi.
“Tell me you didn’t,” Mingi turns to you fully and the words die on Yunho’s lips as he plays catch up.
You stay quiet, holding his gaze, but when you let out a soft breath he sets his coffee back down.
“y/n,” Mingi says, voice serious and leaving Yunho visibly more and more confused, “tell me you didn’t do what I think you did.”
“I took care of it,” You settle on the most neutral words you can.
“No,” He shakes his head, “you can’t just say that, you have to give us more than that.”
“I was planning on it,” You push past Yunho to approach Mingi, resting your hands on his upper arms as you get closer into his space, “I swear, you just guessed it too fast,”
“You smell like the hospital,” He explains, his nose crinkled up.
“Whoa, whoa,” Yunho finally catches up, “why were you at the hospital?”
You just have to say it, “I talked to Minseok,”
“Absolutely not,” Yunho pushes around the island and closer to you, “are you insane?”
“He’s completely incapacitated,” You tell them both, “he couldn’t have touched me even if he wanted to,”
“Yes, but you didn’t know that!” Yunho presses, his voice running high in surprise, but you can see he’s doing his best to keep level and cool.
“Look at me,” You settle him, “do I look hurt? Upset?”
“No,” He admits with a puff of dejected air.
“Am I myself?” You take both their hands in yours.
“Yes,” Mingi admits.
“Okay,” You sigh, “now stop freaking out and listen to me, because I promise you I’m perfectly fine,”
Mingi nods once, and Yunho stays silent, which is enough for you to do what you need to do.
“I went there to talk him out of the charges he’s filing,” You explain, “and I guess… I just wanted to understand what he did, so I wanted to talk to him.”
“And?” Yunho prompts.
“He’s an asshole,” You start.
“Did he touch you?” Mingi asks, his voice a little tight and thready, “Say anything to you?”
“No,” You promise, tugging him closer until his hands are properly on you, “come here,”
“You can tell us if he did,” Yunho’s fingertips stroke a gentle pattern over the back of your neck, “we’re not angry, we just want to help,”
“Speak for yourself, I still want to kill him,” Mingi says sharply.
“Hey,” Yunho nudges him, “chill,”
“Both of you relax,” You interject and they fall silent, “he didn’t do anything, he couldn’t even talk, his jaw is fully wired shut,”
Yunho huffs a laugh, “Good,”
You smile, “Honestly, he looked pretty pathetic,”
“He is pretty pathetic,” Mingi points out.
“Right,” You sigh, “well, aside from some choice words written out on a whiteboard, he didn’t have much to say or do. I explained that if he didn’t drop his charges things would be much worse for him in the long run… and he saw reason.”
“He agreed to that?” Mingi’s eyes go wide.
“Mhm,”
“Why?” Yunho’s brows draw together, “Not out of the goodness of his heart, I assume,”
“No,” You shake your head, “but when I tell you, I need you both to promise me you won’t be angry.”
“That’s unfair,” Yunho says.
“Just say it,” Mingi nods, “we won’t know until we know.”
You chew the inside of your lip as you search for the right way to say this, and you know they’ll be upset no matter what, but they deserve honesty. You nod, “I agreed to drop my charges if he drops his,”
They’re silent, deathly silent.
“y/n,” Yunho swallows tightly as he gets his voice even, “why would you do that?”
“He didn’t want to listen to me at first,” You explain, “and I thought it through on the walk. That’s the only piece of leverage we have right now,”
“But he did something wrong, he should be held accountable,” Mingi exclaims, taking a full step away from you and running a hand through his hair.
“You heard the questions the police asked me,” You interject, “how close was I to my next heat? Did I know Minseok was in pre-rut? Why did I stay in the room if he was making me uncomfortable? What was I wearing?”
“But it wasn’t your fault,” Yunho insists, “he used tone, that’s fucking illegal,”
“I said he used tone,” You counter quietly, “but he’ll say he didn’t and he’ll say I got confused or misunderstood. He’ll use our relationship against you both, and my relationship with Seonghwa to paint… a very particular kind of picture about me. We all know what he did but I’m telling you, legally? We’re on the losing side,”
“But,” Mingi shakes his head, “that’s…”
“I know,” You nod, “believe me, I know.”
“You should have taken us with you,” Yunho says quietly, “we could have talked to him for you,”
You shake your head, “No,” you need them to understand, “you got to hit him… you got to do something, I didn’t get to do anything but be fucking scared,”
His expression softens, “Oh,”
“You protected me when I needed you,” You feel tears welling up now at the thought of it, “it’s my turn to protect you,”
They’re so quiet, watching you carefully.
“Nothing is taking you away from me again,” You say it, plain and clear, “nothing is taking away you or my friends, I won’t let that happen,”
Mingi’s arms fold around you fast as he tucks you into his chest and you feel Yunho step close too, laying a warm palm on your back as he leans into you both.
“Whatever you want, we’ll do it,” Mingi murmurs, “okay?”
You nod, closing your eyes as you snuggle into the warmth of him.
“And we’ll handle it together,” Yunho says, “but don’t make this decision for us, make it for you. We,” Yunho’s voice trails, but then he clears his throat and says what he wants to say anyways, “we love you. No matter what happens,”
“I know,” You sigh, snaking an arm out of Mingi’s hold to find Yunho’s hand and tuck him a little closer too, “but I’m sure,”
“I hate to state the obvious here,” Mingi pulls back from you so he can look at you both, “but if he’s not charged with anything, then he’s a free man.”
That thought does make your stomach flip, but you knew that when you walked into the hospital room, “I know,”
“It’s your choice,” Mingi reiterates, “but I still don’t know if I’m comfortable taking that kind of risk with you.”
“I don’t even want to think about that,” Yunho says, his hands finding your shoulders as he tucks closer behind you.
The image of Minseok’s face when you asked about his dance career flickers through your mind and you smile, “I think he got the picture,”
“y/n,” Mingi’s voice is hesitant.
“I told him in no uncertain terms,” You can’t get the smile off your face now, “that if he came anywhere near me again I’d break his jaw myself.”
“You didn’t,” Yunho looks down to see your face.
“I did,” You nod, “and before you freak out again, please remember that I’m here and totally fine in front of you,”
Mingi gives you a truly withering look but lets you speak.
“Honestly,” You breathe, “you should have seen him, he was lying there and could barely move, and when he didn’t want to drop the charges at first, I kind of got in his face,”
Yunho’s hands tighten on your shoulders and Mingi scrubs a hand over his face, “Don’t tell me that,”
“But I did,” You press your palms flat against Mingi’s chest, “I told him that if he didn’t drop his charges he would never get rid of me, I told him I’d make his life hell, and he couldn’t even move. He couldn’t touch me,”
Mingi’s quiet, his eyes flicking up to Yunho behind you. Yunho sighs, dropping his forehead to rest against your hair and then his arms relax, wrapping around you from behind.
“I really hate this story,” Yunho says, “but I’m also really proud of you,”
“Me too,” Mingi’s hand closes over both of yours to give you a squeeze.
“I just wish you had told us,” Yunho admits.
“If I had told you I was going there you would have never let me go alone,” You point out.
“Exactly,” Yunho’s arms tighten.
You turn your head to press your lips to his arm where it wraps around your shoulder, and you nuzzle a little into his warm skin, “You know why I had to go though, right? You get it?”
He nods against your head.
Mingi smooths his hand up and down your forearm, “We do,”
“I just hate the thought of him seeing you again,” Yunho admits, lifting his head and readjusting you in his arms, “or being close to you at all,”
“I know,” You lean back into his embrace, “but this is the thing, he got to see me be fine after what he did,”
“And you got to see him,” Mingi puts two and two together with ease and nods, “and he looked pathetic?”
“More than that,” You smile, “he looked… afraid.”
“Good,” Mingi says firmly.
You remember the way he looked in that hospital bed, his eyes darting around the room. He shrank back when you got close, no doubt the scent of Yunho and Mingi lingering on your skin, and you smile up at them at the thought, “He was terrified my alphas were with me,”
Yunho’s lips quirk and he leans around you to meet your eyes, “He wasn’t afraid of us, sweetheart, he was afraid of you.”
“No,” You laugh that off, but they don’t join in and Mingi makes a funny expression at your words.
Yunho slides away, shoulder to shoulder with Mingi now as he looks down at you, “Yes, y/n,” he shakes his head, “he was vulnerable and alone and stuck in a hospital bed, and you’re…”
“A powerful fucking omega,” Mingi supplies.
Yunho nods, “And he knows that you could ruin the rest of his life.”
You don’t know what to say.
“y/n,” Mingi sighs, tugging you in until your bodies are close together, “if you ever do something that reckless again, I’ll lose my mind,”
You move to lift your head and push back, to keep trying to get him to understand why this was so important for you to do alone and why you made the choices you made, but he stops you short.
“But,” He adds, kissing the top of your head, “it was also very brave, and I love you for it.”
“Yeah?” You nudge him.
“Yeah,” He admits.
“I do wish I could have seen it,” Yunho grins, “that asshole scared of you,”
Mingi’s hands slide to your hips, tightening their grip and he swallows hard, “Our fierce little omega,”
A ripple of something needy and unexpected passes through your belly, “Is that what I am?”
Yunho steps closer, finding a home for his hands on your body too, “You called us your alphas,” he says softly, “isn’t that what we are?”
Mingi’s thumbs brush a warm steady pattern into your hips and you feel yourself melting into their hands, “Yes,”
“That makes you our omega, sweetheart,” Yunho eyes flick from yours to your lips.
The way they say omega to you doesn’t sound cold. It doesn’t sound cruel or commanding, no undertone of ownership despite the content of their words. When they say it all you hear is love.
“Say that again,” You murmur softly.
Mingi smiles, lifting his eyes to watch you.
Yunho dips closer, his lips dangerously close, “Our omega?”
You nod a little, heat flushing your cheeks.
“Our omega,” He repeats, pressing his lips to yours. He waits to make sure you want it, he waits to feel you twist in their arms and reach up for him, and then he lets his body follow his thoughts, lips opening and his tongue dipping into your mouth.
Mingi’s hand shifts, spreading wide over your lower belly, his fingertips at the waistband of your pants. You’re not ready for that, and you hope he doesn’t notice the way you twitched in his hands when he first adjusted his grip, but either way he makes no move to take anything further. Neither of them do. Despite Yunho’s lips on yours, and the breath between you both, his hands stay put on your back and your cheek while Mingi just holds you, patient and soft at your side.
When your lips break from Yunho, settling back down your heels after pushing up on tiptoe, Mingi uses his grip on you to spin you to face him, his mouth finding yours with ease.
You hum pleasantly against his mouth, your hands gripping his broad shoulders for balance.
“Ours,” Mingi murmurs between kisses, and then his hands spread to your backside, maneuvering you up into his arms in one quick motion, “you’re ours,”
You wrap your legs around his middle and sink into the kiss, “I’m yours,”
“Fuck, I missed you,” He mumbles between kisses, nuzzling your cheek with his nose.
You nod against him, stealing one more kiss before you lean back, still perched comfortably with your legs around his waist. You smooth a hand over Mingi’s cheek and then reach for your other lover to bring him close, drawing him in by the hand until he’s nestled against both of your sides. Yunho’s hand reaches around to cup under your thigh and you settle your own hand on the back of Yunho’s neck, fingers stroking the shaggy bottom of his dark hair.
“This is nice,” Mingi smiles a little, eyes flicking between you and Yunho.
Yunho nods, his free hand settling on Mingi’s back.
“I can’t believe I convinced myself that we weren’t scent sympathetic,” You sigh a small, unfunny laugh, “this just feels so right,”
“Knowing it and knowing it are two different things,” Mingi says, emphasizing the word.
“I guess so,”
“And it’s not like all scent matches work out,” Yunho adds, “we still have to work at it,”
You nod, relaxing into their hold, “I want that,”
“We do too,” Mingi squeezes your thigh a little with his wide hand.
It’s funny how different it all feels now than months ago during your first panicked heat here, how settled you are with everything. You glance between them and ask the obvious, “When we go back to work, what are we this time?”
“Pack,” Mingi says easily and your head snaps to his, eyebrows high.
“Mingi,” You blink at him, surprised at his easy reference to such a permanent state of being. Scent matches and compatibility is one thing, but pack is something so much more. All of it flickers in your mind - claims, bonds, tying you together permanently.
“Someday,” Yunho interjects smoothly, giving you a soft, reassuring kiss to the head, “far in the future, if you’ll have us.”
“Someday,” The word slips out of you like an agreement, and despite all the fears shared with Wooyoung earlier, you do want them like that. You want to someday be able to give each other that.
“Then we’re pack,” Mingi lights up at your words, “officially, unofficially, I don’t care. You’re with us, we’re with you.”
Your body fills with warmth, but you can feel your heart rate picking up.
Yunho smiles, “What did they used to call that back in the day?”
“Courting,” You fill in the blank for him, and the word feels strangely old fashioned considering the fact that you’ve already spent a heat with them. When packs were more common, groups of alphas would court compatible omegas until it was sure they were a good match in more ways than just scent. The implication then was something more akin to a modern engagement and you can’t believe after everything you’ve been through with these two men, this is the conversation you’re having suddenly so casually in their kitchen.
“Well,” Yunho laughs, “we don’t have to call it that,”
“We’re,” You trail off, trying to find the words, “dating?”
“Partners?” Yunho offers a slightly less casual word.
“Together,” Mingi cuts in, “that’s what we are. We’re your alphas, we belong to you, and you,” he draws you closer in his arms to press a soft kiss on your lips, “are our omega.”
“And at work?” You trail off.
“We’ll be ourselves,” Yunho suggests, “people probably already know after last week anyways,”
Mingi nods, dipping forward and pressing a kiss to your lips, “No more pretending we don’t mean something to each other,”
“No more pretending,” You shift in his arms, wrapping your arms properly around his shoulders so that you’re hugging each other tightly.
Mingi hums appreciatively, his breath warm against your hair and then he chuckles a little as he readjusts you in his arms, “Is it too fast if I start calling you yeobo, though? I feel like it suits you,”
You pull back from the hug, “We’re not married, Mingi,” you remind him, “and I didn’t hear a proposal,”
“You want to get proposed to, baby?” He teases and you shove his chest.
“Knock it off,” Yunho smacks the back of Mingi’s head, “our relationship doesn’t have to break the sound barrier,”
“I’m kidding,” Mingi squeezes you, shifting to take a few steps and deposit you on the kitchen counter before stepping back with a quick peck on your lips.
“Hmm,” Yunho rolls his eyes and slumps back against the counter next to you, one wide hand smoothing over your thigh, “we just got you back, I’d like to avoid scaring you off,”
“I’m not scared,” You shake your head, and as you say it, you realize it’s true. Six months ago you would have balked at Mingi’s veiled promise of his intentions, you would have told them all their hormones were mixed up and confused. You would have told yourself the same. It feels strange to feel completely at peace with the idea of a real someday with them.
Yunho’s eyebrow quirks up in a question at your words and Mingi grins, a little self satisfied.
“Actually,” You exhale heavily and straighten up, “I talked to Wooyoung yesterday and he helped me figure some things out,”
“Things?” Mingi asks.
“Um,” Your pounds in your chest, “yeah,”
Yunho gives you an encouraging squeeze to keep going.
You meet his eyes and take the leap, “Can you make that call? For me to talk with someone?”
He softens and nods, “I’ll do it first thing,”
“Okay,” You say, taking another deep breath, “then there’s one more thing to tell you,”
Mingi doesn’t say anything, but he steps back closer to you, resting his hand on your opposite thigh.
“It’s my turn to ask you to be patient,” You give them both an anxious, close lipped smile.
“We’re listening,” Mingi soothes you.
“Okay,” You take both their hands in yours, “here goes. The idea of bonding with you both is kind of sending me into a tailspin right now, and I’m terrified that it’s something I’m never going to get over. Wooyoung told me to talk to someone to work through that and I want to. I thought about it all day, and the truth is that I want to be with you both for as long as you’ll have me. You feel like you’re mine, now more than ever, and I’m scared, but I’m also scared of not trying,”
“And if I can be yours like this for now,” You continue, “without bonds like you said, pack even if it’s unofficial, then maybe I can work through this and make it official someday. I’m just scared your definition of ‘far in the future’ and my definition are different though, and I,”
“Fuck bonds,” Mingi interrupts, moving to cup both your cheeks and draw your eyes to his, “that shit doesn’t matter to me at all. We’re together by choice, not by claim. If you want my bite someday, I’ll give it to you, but you won’t ever hear me ask, alright? Never.”
“Me too,” Yunho’s hand brushes down your hair, coming to rest on the back of your neck, “as far as I’m concerned it’s secondary, I don’t care what anyone thinks. I’d sooner leave you than push you into a bond you aren’t ready for,”
You jolt forwards, throwing an arm around each of their shoulders and nearly slipping off the counter when you do, but they hold you steady as you pull them in.
“We just want you,” Mingi’s rough, low voice murmurs, “just this.”
You feel their warmth, the steady thrum of each of their heartbeats, their scents curling around you like a safe, easy memory. The words find themselves right on the tip of your tongue again, only this time, this time they come.
“I love you,” You take in a sharp, emotional breath as you get yourself together, overwhelmed by their words, “I love you both so much,”
Yunho dips back to find your mouth, locking his lips on yours and sighing a breath of true relief against your mouth, “I love you too, sweetheart,”
Mingi redirects your gaze with his fingers on your jaw the moment Yunho starts to lean back and he kisses you hard, leaving you gripping his shirt for balance, “I love you,”
“God,” You smile, every part of your body alight with joy, “I think we might be crazy, but I don’t care,”
“Good,” Yunho glances between you both, “because I think I’m having a crazy idea,”
“What idea?”
“Move in,” He blurts out, and he can’t stop smiling, “fuck giving you a key, fuck calling you our girlfriend. Move in properly, be ours. If we’re together, let’s be together, we’ve lost enough time,”
“Who’s moving fast now?” Mingi says, but he’s smiling too.
Everything in your body feels right, feels safe. You’ve been calling this home for days, and you’ve been calling them yours in your head for so much longer.
You’re nodding before your mouth can catch up with your brain, “Okay, okay, yes, let’s do it,”
Yunho pulls you up into his arms and holds you close, peppering kisses across your temple, “We’ll figure everything else out later, but at least we’ll be together,”
“Thank God,” You melt into his embrace, meeting Mingi’s eyes over Yunho’s shoulder, “because I really didn’t want to leave,”
“No leaving this time,” Mingi smiles softly as Yunho nods his head against yours.
“Mm-mm,” You shake your head, agreeing with his words.
“We’ll get everything from your place as soon as we can, make it official,” Mingi adds.
You nod, and then a thought occurs to you, “Is there even enough room for me here?”
Yunho unwraps himself from around you and nods, “We’ll need a bigger bed,”
“For a start,” Mingi nods, “and you need a nest,”
“Yeah?” Your very own nest, a real one.
“Oh, babe,” Mingi finds your hand, tugging you in, “you’re about to get fucking spoiled, anything you want, we’ll figure it out.”
“You don’t have to, I just want to be here,” You tell them.
“Doesn’t matter,” Yunho says, “we’ve waited for you for so long,”
“Too long,” Mingi wraps his arms around you both, “way too long,”
It doesn’t matter anymore what pushed you into their arms, what kind of day you’ve had, everything you’ve had to get through. Not a thing in the world matters but this choice, the safe home of their arms, three of you against the world like it was always meant to be.

[contains spoilers]
I'm an eternal digger of good narrative techniques. A decent story becomes great in my eyes if the narrative is done right. And it's one of the hardest things to do really, since there's no one-size-fits-all rule for what technique works well with a particular story and what doesn't. One of the primary reasons I keep obsessing over Lovely Runner is its' narrative technique. In all honesty, if it had a linear, singular narrative, I would not be hyperventilating over it on a constant basis (I still would just a certain amount, because both Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon deserve awards for what they are doing). One reason it has managed to knock it out off the park and take the top spot in my forever-favorite list is how wonderfully well the narrative is done.
The primary perspective used in this show is Im Sol's. It's through her we're introduced to the story. Her perspective gives shape to the plot, the characters, because we learn things through her. Her perspective is absolutely critical for exposition. Without her thoughts and way of viewing things, you would never realize why saving Seon Jae means so much to her, or why she would bend the rules and bulldoze ahead when it comes to his safety (exhibit A, her leaving home on the day of the accident, despite knowing about her fate). She'd rather have him alive than have him in her life. Without her narrative, you'd think it's really all about a fan saving her idol (thanks to everyone who'd rejected the script listening to that pitch by the way, I'm grateful we have BWS and KHY as the leads because of that, I would not change it for anyone else). With Im Sol's perspective, you realize, she is not just a fan: she's an ardent admirer, a cheerleader, a well-wisher, a protector, an invisible friend trying to support her friend any way she can, someone who respects Seon Jae, sees him as an idol but also as a human, someone who wants to give back to him the same kindness, empathy and love she had once received from him over a radio call. To her, Seon Jae is first a guardian angel and then an idol, the angel who changed her view of life, made her appreciate things even amidst all that could be wrong with the world and her life. He saved her. Not just on that day at the hospital but every time she struggled and faltered since then, he was there, as invisible as it may have been. So this time, she wants to save him, no matter the price.
Then comes Seon Jae. Oof. If Im Sol's perspective gives the story its beautiful, beautiful shape, Seon Jae's perspective breathes literal life in to the body of the story. The show wouldn't be what it is today if not for his perspective. Without his view into things, Im Sol appears as a fangirl going to extreme measures to save her idol, clinging onto him like a monkey (yes I mean the poster) embarrassing the heck out of herself, making you cringe (in a good, enjoyable way) throughout. Then you reach the end of episode 2 and it knocks the breath out of you because WHAT DO YOU EVEN MEAN. It all clicks.
All this while we kept thinking Seon Jae was caught off guard and just kind enough to tolerate her antics, and maybe he'd slowly fall for her now, only to realize we were completely oblivious to a whole different side of the story. If Im Sol's narrative draws you in and keeps you hooked, making you root for her to succeed, it's Seon Jae's narrative that makes you irredeemably fall in love with them and sincerely, genuinely, desperately hope they get their happy ending together after all the storm.
And the motifs. Walking/running, for instance. I'll focus on just one scene here. I recall seeing a bts where KHY is discussing the OG 2008 accident scene, and it explains how she has to slow down, while running away, for just a moment, only to be hit by the taxi driver. Have you ever been in a situation of absolute panic, desperation and stress, then suddenly found a familiar face or a name or a thing you could connect to, and felt a wave of relief rush through you? She sees Seon Jae, a person who is calling out her name. Even if she didn't know him back then, the fact that he knew her (and that he had his uniform on), gives her a sense of safety she badly needed that moment. That momentary relief, so visible in her features, then overtakes the crippling fear she felt running in the middle of nowhere with no one in sight in the dead of the night. Her body, already exhausted beyond anything, responds to the relief she feels for those few seconds, slowing down her steps.
And that is when she is caught off-guard and hit. That also might have added to Im Sol's anger at the hospital when she is screaming at Seon Jae, her internal anguish that if only she had not paused seeing Seon Jae, and kept on running, then maybe she wouldn't be hit, wouldn't fall, wouldn't lose her ability to walk. It's one thing to have tropes and symbolic things, but it's a very different thing to know how to use them effectively so they elicit very specific types of emotions/reactions out of people. Lovely Runner excels in that. All kdramas more or less have 'things' that take on different meanings for the couples/viewers. It's the way motifs are used to narrate the story in this one that has me going back over and over again to all the episodes aired so far. These are not just their 'things', these are 'things' that drive the plot forward, tell you about their characters, their personal motivations, what they mean to each other and so much more.
This is getting longer that I intended it to be so will end with this. I feel valued when watching Lovely Runner. And I've seen people saying the same thing. It feels like they respect your critical thinking skills, and your ability to infer, so they don't spoon-feed you everything from the get-go, and you can't predict much despite it being primarily a rom-com. You'd be pulling your hair out (again, in a good way) trying to figure out what they will show next, and you will be somewhat or very far from the truth, which will compel you to think further about the story, the characters, long after an episode has aired...I can't remember the last time it happened with a drama. I love this storytelling.

Baji: what does my gender have to do with giving birth
Draken: it has everything to do with it??? what are you talking about
Baji: wow didn't know you guys were so sexist
Chifuyu: Baji-san, gender and sex are two different things...
Baji: ?
Chifuyu: sex is your chromosomes and basically what you were born with and gender is what you identify as. so since you're male, you don't have the reproductive organs to get pregnant and have a child. only female bodied people can.
Smiley: bro you're 17 how the fuck do you not know this
Baji: never been good at biology
Smiley: you don't have to be good at it to know you can't get pregnant💀
Baji: so men can't get pregnant?
Chifuyu: well if someone born as a female transitions into a man, then gets pregnant, we can pretty much say that men can get pregnant
Baji: so men can get pregnant but not males?
Chifuyu: yeah i guess
Baji: interesting
Baji: i don't think anyone's tried hard enough
Baji: i'll get a male pregnant one day, watch
Mitsuya: wtf
Draken: is the biology lesson over?
Mikey: my ass still hurts i think i'll need ointment
Kazutora: why r u reporting this to us
Mikey: you guys are my friends
Mitsuya: no ones wants to know about your bowel movements
Baji: why do you always wanna sound smart Mitsuya. just say shit or shitting
Smiley: watch, next time he'll say defecation
Chifuyu: excretion
Mikey: excrement
Kazutora: fecal matter
Draken: guys what the fuck can we not talk about this? it's fucking gross
Baji: oho here comes the fucking poop police
Kazutora: instead of his siren going "wee woo wee woo" it probably goes "pee poo pee poo" lmao
Mikey: LMAO😭
Draken: what are you a bunch of 5 year olds??
Baji: we're 17
Draken: 😐
Mitsuya: can we change the subject? christ
Smiley: i did crack for the first time yesterday. shit was crazy
Mikey: YOU DO DRUGS???? BRO
Baji: yo Nahoya what the fuck
Draken: we're not supposed to do drugs
Smiley: who's we?? i'm doing them not you🤨??
Draken: and what's Angry gonna think?
Smiley: he doesn't need to know. and i did it to impress a girl so chill it's not a regular thing
Mikey: why would you try and impress a girl with doing crack?
Smiley: she's a drug addict
Smiley: but the sex was fire tho even though she tried to kill me halfway through
Mikey: YOU'RE HAVING SEX??
Kazutora: that's not fair☹️
Kazutora: where are you meeting women?
Smiley: outside
Kazutora: oh
Draken: why did she try to kill you?
Smiley: halfway through she started choking the shit outta me while she was on top and i almost died but also it was the best nut i've ever experienced so it's a win win
Mikey: that doesn't sound appealing at all😭
Draken: that sounds like assault actually
Smiley: idgaf a beautiful woman can do whatever she wants with me and if she wants to kill me then so be it (i'm a feminist)
Mitsuya: yeah but like, she should have asked
Smiley: we were both high off our rockers
Draken: yeah i feel like she should have asked you so you could have developed a healthy sex dynamic where you both share each other kinks before hand
Baji: oho here comes the fucking sex police
Kazutora: this time the siren would be men whimpering
Chifuyu: why men?
Kazutora: i don't think Draken would use women moaning cause of how the brothel might have traumatized him i think and he respects women too much
Kazutora: also he's gay
Draken: fuck off i'm not
Draken: and Baji say something else i dare you
Baji: what are you gonna do? have sex with me?
Smiley: you're all taking this way too seriously😁
Baji: with what Kazutora said, i'ma start blasting whimpering audios when i get a car
Mitsuya: i'm pretty sure that's illegal or something
Smiley: dawg no one wants to hear that
Baji: who wouldn't want to hear men whimpering?
Baji: especially the high pitched ones
Baji: cause you can associate them with twinks
Baji: with dual coloured hair, jingly earnings and large unsettling eyes
Baji: and maybe even a blonde with an undercut and big blue cow eyes
Kazutora: Baji what are you on about
Chifuyu: wait are you being serious or is this a joke Baji-san 😂😂😂😂
Draken: uhh
Smiley: i keep hoping you being gay is a joke but then you say shit like this
Baji: why
Smiley: i'm not fond of gay people
Baji: homophobia's got you missing out on some good head
Draken: we support and respect all identies, Smiley. don't make this a problem
Smiley: i'll ask again, WHO'S WE?
