screaming over [institution redacted] talking about generative AI as a possible tool for "equity" while utterly ignoring the ways it increases global inequities

#welcome to academia #like i can't and won't police student use of chatgpt beyond asking students to acknowledge when/where they've used it #but trying to incorporate chatgpt as a tool #without acknowledging its current detrimental effects on the environment #and the ways that it increases tech monopolies' power #AND the ways that it continues to exploit labor from the global south for our convenience #like! that's not something we should just brush aside!!!#we are totally going over the articles about chatgpt's use of exploited kenyan workers
