i hope everyone is enjoying the occasional "day in the life of someone whose real ass job is singing and dancing with toddlers" segment here at beneath silver stars dot tumblr dot com
#our curriculum kinda rigorous as fuck though...#we always have at least one song with a weird meter per semester - this time it's a 3 3 4 4 3 3 4 4 deal#and there's so many rules. for lesson planning#each week we have to do at least 3 non-majors at least 3 non-duples at least 2 songs without words#and there's always a solid handful of songs in other languages in every collection#this time we have... spanish russian french and yiddish#(the russian and yiddish songs both have english translation verses too though)#and something from the torres strait islands that's so old that no one knows what it means#and ofc there's all kinds of guidelines about how to plan the overall arc of the lesson and how to present each song#and they're very good guidelines. very successful. but very particular#it's like. it's not *hard* but it does take a solid bit of dedicated planning to make a really good lesson plan#sometimes i'm really good at it.. but sometimes i kinda phone it in.... but this one is good!!!#starting strong!!!#silverstarschat
