Tagged by the lovely @sous-le-saule, thanks ✨
1) Are you named after anyone?
My second first name is Geraldine, as a reference to my dick of a father Gerard.
2) When was the last time you cried?
I'd say a week ago? When I had to say goodbye to my girlfriend. (she's not dead, relax)
3) Do you want/have kids?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. EVER. First of all, I don't even see the point, I mean we are ruining our own environment, what future could I build for them. And perpetuating the humain species? Whoa, no thanks
4) Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not at all, dear
5) What's the first thing you notice about people?
Physically speaking, their eyes I guess? Otherwise I'd say it's their level of self-confidence
6) What is your eye color?
I'd say medium brown, like not light but not dark either if that makes sense
7) Scary movie or happy ending?
Any, as long as they're decent movies not dubbed in French
8) Any special talent?
I can't cry on command - well not really, I can if you yell at me, but then I can't stop and also it hurts so please don't?
9) Where were you born?
The land of freedom and equality, just kidding, I'm French
10) What are your hobbies?
Like @sous-le-saule I like to draw (and then cry a lot because I draw like a 8yo) Also series, and podcasts now, and sleep
11) Do you have any pets?
My girlfriend has a cat, and she's a bit of a bitch but I love her still
12) What sports do you play/have you played?
Ahah sports. I gave up on these. As a kid I used to go skiing and swimming. Swimming's great, skiing is HELL. I guess sailing. If that's even a sport
13) How tall are you?
1.69m
14) Favorite subject in school?
It'd have to be English, though it was more the accent than the subject itself. I always loved history classes too, I had awesome teachers (whom I disappointed very much probably cause I can't recall any date or event I've ever learned)
15) Dream job?
Idk really, I wasn't one of those kids who planned their future (mine usually was 'When I grow up I wanna suffer less than now, please')
I don't have friends.
No that's not true, lemme rephrase it
I don't have friends active on Tumblr who enjoy talking about their life / without anxiety (so I'm not gonna force them to participate, cause I'm a nice person, also I don't remember their tag names anyway)
So feel free to answer if you want to

1. Are you named after anyone?
Non.
2. When was the last time you cried?
3. Do you want/have kids?
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
La voix, je dirais. Je suis très sensible aux voix.
6. What is your eye color?
Brun foncé.
7. Scary movie or happy ending?
8. Any special talents?
Non. Pfff. J’aimerais bien.
9. Where were you born?
10. What are your hobbies?
11. Do you have any pets?
12. What sports do you play/have you played?
13. How tall are you?
1m72
14. Favorite subject in school?

Architecture of the City by Aldo Rossi _Habitation in Porto City Center
One of the themes that always interested me was the constitution of the city, how it grows, how it got there, the routs, the meaning, and so on, it’s possible to do a large list about this, that's the problem. Define a city could be almost impossible and to better understand how should I look to the city I read Architecture of the City, by Also Rossi.
Was in that perspective that the reading was made, trying to understand urban artifacts, the habitation, the fixed elements and the politics, all this inserted in the city.
The main subject that I’m trying to work for my thesis is about the habitation in Porto city center, in Portugal. I know by now that in the city center there isn’t any kind of diversity of people living there, in this moment we found the center divided and in degradation. My question is, can we architects provide a solution for this; there is a solution, what, how, and how can we rehabilitate and provide diversity that the same time.
Urban artifacts | street | habitation | scale | city
The architecture identifies it self through the city and can’t to declare oneself without it. The city grows it self, develop conscience and memory about it self. During the construction some originating elements stay but with some time the city cleans and modifies its self-elements.
The private and collective element, society and individual, make a contrast and get mix up in the city, this city that is made of litter things that are trying to get some kind of organization and with that an appropriate ambience.
So, for architecture of the city we can understand two different things, in the first case it’s possible to assemble the city to a big manufactured, an complex engineering and architecture work that grows through time. The second one, the delimited areas of the city, the urban facts with its own architecture as there own form.
Through a city we can get many feelings, sensations, experiences. For some people some places aren’t so good because they connect the place to a ruthless experience or a bad event from their lives. These experiences are also a part of the city. Porto city has these particular characteristics, you can walk through the city and you will get different feelings. Also you can understand the city has a unique element built with many different parts. A city form by multiples urban facts! Like the city for George Chabot is an amount that builds it self and all the elements get together to it “ l’âme de la cite”, is Porto.
The city in is space and beauty is the creation of many and different formation moments – the union between these moments is possible thought the urban unit; the possibility to read the city is in own formal and special character.[1]
Aldo Rossi stands to the idea that the city is an artwork. And we need to understand it as a big representation of human condition. And in any case the geography of the city is inseparable from its history: “l’art de l’ architecture est une création humaine”.[2]
For him the roads aren’t an artwork only respond to the circulation issue, they aren’t an artwork because they can’t be admired by the senses and can’t be seen in one all time unless through the paper. Then, artistic speaking only is an artwork if can be seen all at the same time, like a street or a square.
Tricart[3], establishes three orders or three different scales, the street scale, that is the buildings and not buildings spaces that involve it; the neighborhood scale, that includes the group of blocks with the same characteristics; and the last scale, the all city as the compose of all neighborhoods. The principal that provides a homogeneity and relation between those scales are their social content.
Aldo Rossi says that there are different kinds of scales, as also the urban artifacts can’t change because of the size of the place (scale). If we accept the opposite thesis would mean that we believe that the city changes as it expands.
The shape of the lots in a city, its formation, evolution represents the long history of the place; and the social history connect with the city, as Tricart said, the conflict in the drawing of the lots confirm the existing fight between the social classes. Inside of this social classes issue, Porto city, become “zoning” I mean we can read in the city the difference of classes, the difference of activities per zones. The city is losing the diversity and multiplicity of activities. How can we, architects, change this?
The street is, as Poete[4], says the great deal in a city, the street shows up in one place and is this street that provides the living of the rest. For Poete the city stand above its own develop axis, it maintains the lines, it grows through one direction. But sometimes some facts changes and only the shape survive.
Exists the necessity to retrieve the street as a community stage; “ the street is a rectangle stage where there are the meetings, conversations, games, pride.”[5]
The shape of the city represents always the shape of the time of the city, there are many times in the city shape, as in a men live, the city changes its indistinct image, and the references aren’t the same.
Let’s take as reference the urban house, this is understood as a constructive element from the city. Even through a historical analyses or an actual description we can’t say that the house is something indifferent. The house represents the living style of a people; it’s cultural manifest and takes its time to change. Violet-le-Duc, says, that, the house is for sure the best characterization of the ways of living, the tastes, the manners of each population;[7]
Let’s analyze the Greek city, Atenas, the urban facts that Aldo Rossi call by primary elements are the ones that defines the city. The housing part takes a great importance in the constitution of the city. What we can see in Porto, the presence of the house, is the main element that provides the characteristics like Atenas. The lots of habitations draw the streets and this whole group creates a complex maze that we call Porto city.
Now, we are living in a city with some problems, the industry was the beginning of every wrong and good, becomes the truly protagonist of the city transformation. The change crosses for three parts, the first one the end of a medieval city where the identity of site of work with habitation was inside the same building. Then, the domestic economic reach an end as a unit of production and consumption. The end of this basic way of living in the medieval city gets a several different reactions that will be measure in the future city.
At the same time the workers houses appear, the houses for many people (masses), like rent houses; here the problem of habitation appears as an urban and social problem.
The second time, began with the industrialization progressive that divided for once the habitation and the work, ended it the relationship between neighborhoods.
The last part, third one, was the development of the individual vehicles and the efficiency of all others transports means to get to work.
The question could be: if the architecture of the urban facts is the construction of the city, how could be left out the thing that provides the finale decision, the politics?
The politics is in fact the option problem. Who choose the image of the city? The city does it but always and only through the politics institutions.
We can understand the city like Porto, understand the layer of the time, the urban facts, everything, and try to find a solution of the actual problems, propose a solution but the option to do it would be always in the politics hands.
All changes in the city, urban transformation, had a change in the citizens[8]!
