"I just like complex characters." Do you? Do you really? Or do you only like them when they are straight, cis white men (bonus points if they are tall, conventionally attractive, and/or have tattoos)? If so, then I need you to analyze that.

#fandom misogyny #fandom racism #fandom culture #bc you won't catch or hardly will catch them saying this about poc characters especially woc characters #like these characters will be fighting for their lives in fandom even when justified but let a yte male character come on to the scene #doing the same thing or worse and yet suddenly he's the most understood and no one can say anything bad about him #eg: most if not all the mikaelson brothers vs marcel bc the amount of microaggressions the fandom & show used to refer about the main black #character on the series was horrifc #klaus literally has a temper up to the heavens and lashes out but im supposed to believe he's better than marcel? mind u when that framing #was happening it was supposed to frame klaus as better for cami (a yt woman) but he was...also manipulating her to the point she thought she #was crazy...hmm...like marcel had his moments but lets call a spade a spade #and yes while rebekah does generally receive better treatment in fandom than marcel at times and that largely has to do with yte feminism #im also not going to pretend as if she hasn't met/is met with her fair share of misogyny and hate in this fandom that her brothers aren't #same thing for hayley like oh my god #but putting spin on it and bringing woc to frame and i could go on #katara katniss mel cassandra cain allura bonnie nobara korra etc #i could go on
