me babbling abt tree under the ✂️

in my humble and objectively correct opinion tree is THE most interesting cat especially with his impact in the books both narratively and the impacts he has for the worldbuilding. Tree is a care free almost lazy, and weird but he makes up for it by being charismatic, highly intelligent, and hes??? so funny?? he met four cats and he makes up a DIFFERENT fake backstory everytime, he's a chronic nonsensical nonchalant nonbinary i love him.

He was born in a unique origin so to say, although putting aside the criticism around The Sisters, Tree or back then Earth, gives us an outsider pov for once and its genuinely so refreshing! i loved Tree's roots and seeing what hardships he went through to be moulded as the clever, witty yet untrustful cat he's become

He overcomes trauma from his origin and his fleeting attachment issues stems from a constant back and forth lesson and events that led him to be disclosed yet painfully longs for a place to set foot.

From the very start, all he ever wanted was just to have something, somewhere, someone to rely on. but from the death of his best friend, to the Sisters "banishment", to his dad's death and every other harsh lesson the world gives that he was better off alone. He slowly comes to unlearn it, by squirrelflight's hope, a quote from him really speaks about how far he's come and how he finally finds grounding and a home, a *family* in the clans

for as long as they need them, and if they’re in trouble, they’ll always have a Clan to turn to.” PUNCHES A WALL. I LOVE YOU TREE TIMES A GAZILLION !!

Tree knows the bitter lifestyle he had to endure in his childhood, he was so young when everyone around him expected the world, to be larger than life. he would never want that for his shrub babies..

And Tree also embodies the *middle option* that choices and roles arent put into objective boxes, he questions the roles of toms and she cats in the sisters, the way he struggled in his role as a tom, the way he abandons his name, the torment between always wanting a home but constantly taught either by tongue or harsh events that the solitary life, the way he couldnt choose between being a warrior and a medicine cat, to the way he becomes the secret third thing every choice his given.

As a queer person specifically i relate to him but also just in general <3 Tree is a cat who represents healing from past trauma to move forward, who serves justice and sees common ground in every situation, someone who is everything he chooses to be and also he makes awesome horrendous jokes.

i was thinking about this but i do not care for leopardstar, truly. her actions and compliance to the murder and ethnocide of her own clan is baffling enough (tigerstar specifically wanted 'half-clan' cats dead.)

but while thinking about her, i thought how to further make her actions horrifying. what if she were friends or more specifically a mentor to silverstream (or mistyfoot, stonefur, even feathertail) imagine the person who helped make you who you are today- a teacher, an older sibling, a parent, because mentors are kinda all those things.

now imagine leopardstar fighting tooth and nail to bring her dead apprentice's kits back to her clan, feathertail and stormfur, to only within like 6 months, disregard them to an ethnocide brought on by some bozo named tigerstar. what.

Man… I’m thinking about Leopardfoot tonight…

I really want to write a novella about her personally (because I do NOT trust the Erins with many of the themes I’d want to be displayed in her story… Because there are just… So many interesting questions to be posed about this woman that is neglected by this fandom:

What was she like? Just as a person?

What was her relationship like with her littermate and brother, Patchpelt?

What was her relationship like with her parents? Her extended family?

She’s a little older than Bluestar and Snowfur, and was shown being friendly with Bluepaw/fur. Were they friends?

Pinestar seems to have shown her some slight favor even when she was an apprentice… When did that start?

Were Pinestar’s intentions malicious? Did he not think about it? Did Leopardfoot make the first move? It was awful regardless, just because of their respective ages and ranks, but… What happened there, specifically?

Was she excited to become a mother?

Was she thrilled when she had a son that looked so much like his father?

Did she scream at Pinestar when he announced his leave?

Did Pinestar tell her first? Did he tell her as her mate… or as her leader?

Did Leopardfoot regard her daughters’ ailing health as a bad omen - StarClan punishing Pinestar’s children for their father’s traitorous crimes?

How hard did she mourn her daughters? Did she try to deflect her grief?

How hard did she spoil her son?

How did she feel about Thistleclaw?

How did she feel about Thistleclaw after Spottedleaf?

Did she see the first few signs of Tigerclaw’s descent into darkness? Was she blind to them - or did she consciously choose to look away?

Did she try to step in? Was she dismissed as being overprotective?

How did her son feel about her?

What did she tell Tigerclaw, specifically, about his father?

How did she die?

Did she continue to watch her son? Was she the first to welcome Redtail into StarClan? And then Spottedleaf? And then every single one of his other direct or tangental victims?

Do you think she didn’t take part in the battle against BloodClan? Do you think she merely… sat? At the border to the Place of No Stars? And waited for her son?

What do you think she said to him, as her final words between mother and monster?

I have so many thoughts and so many questions about Leopardfoot….

thinkin about a human Warrior Cats au set in the late 1800s/early 1900s, where Rusty is the youngest of an upper-class aristocat family (like, Lords and Ladies downtown abbey type shit), and he falls for the local orphan peasant girl (Sandstorm) who hates his upper class guts until he proves hes more than just a pretty, rich face. his grandmother Crystal is the old fashioned matriarch who despises Thunderclan and takes issue with her grandson dating anyone from there, peasant or not.

so, basically Downtown Abbey but warrior cats. or bridgerton. i think thats what bridgerton is about.

Up next is a long-overdue new ref sheet for Ravenpaw.

For his physical description, Ravenpaw is described as sleek, plump tom with a long, thin tail. Yeah, I know everyone always draws him super skinny and he's described that way in Into the Wild, but in Fire and Ice Fireheart describes him as sleek and plump and totally different from how skinny and dull he looked while living in ThunderClan. I didn't make him super plump, just a nice healthy weight and an average-ish build. The scarring on his shoulder is from the Sunningrocks battle that killed Redtail, we see him with the injured shoulder in Into the Wild.

For his pattern, Ravenpaw is described as a black tom with a tiny white dash on his chest and a white-tipped tail. Not much here, just changed his eyes to green from the amber I had on his old sheet.

Overall, I'm fairly happy with how he turned out.

cinderpelt/heart SE ideas

Cinderpelt - we've already done learning to be a medicine cat a million times, but focusing on the omen/interpreting aspect of it, with Cinderpelt not being able to 'get it' and hiding this from Yellowfang - littlecloud friendship! also the first arc medicine cats in general. mudfur, also being a former warrior, would be a good character to have some mentor moments with. - brackenfur : 3 - cinderpelt delivering kits for the first time and coming to grips with silverstream's death, watching the kits grow up from afar. - her grief over yellowfang and being such a young/inexperienced med cat after she dies and having to take over - being warned about her death and what this means; wanting to explore the new territory and the herbs and what it could be, and acknowledging she will not see it - which ties into Cinderheart - po3 without the prophecies basically! learning about the lake territory and discovering the area - yes it would have to be a lot of retconning tho - but exploration and laying out the new ThunderClan territory (as Cinderpelt couldn't see her Clan grow) - po3 apprenticeships! this was such a good bunch of apprentices, including Honeypaw and co - actually build the Lionblaze romance : / - discovering she is actually cinderpelt and working out who she is and what this means for the life she's made
