this one took me a while due to trying out different techniques (studying a Lot of art nouveau) and making a couple changes to her outfit (the details help), but I’d like to think she’s learned a lot in her journey and wanted to reflect her experience more in her champion fit

her specialty would be in fairy types and her meganium’s divergent evolution is grass/fairy 🧚🪷

Hey everyone, long time no see! Apologies for the months of silence - but I’m back now! I needed to take a much needed step back from HOCO and focus on some other projects of mine (as well as play a ungodly amount of BG3 hehe).

On my break, I also decided to kinda tear down HOCO and rebuild it from the ground up. I wasn’t really pleased with how the story was going and I think that really contributed to the burnout I felt with the project. I still would like to include the premise of the various life stages, but may go about it in a different way than I had initially planned - things to think about more I suppose!

Anyways here’s some behind the scenes of what I’ve been up to - starting with revisiting the cast’s (+ Nico’s) main outfits and updating them :3

haii, im one of the anons that's always asking u to talk about your ocs. ive noticed you posting more recently with ocs tagged something like "uni 1" and i was wondering if you could talk a little about that universe and what it's all about (and maybe some of the characters from it if you want!!) also tysm for always indulging me, all your replies are a treat to read and the stuff you write is really cool! ok bye!

there's no way to be succinct about this therefore i'll ramble THANKS FOR ASKING!!!!!!

theres four main dimensions: heaven, hell, earth, and the spirit world. the spirit world is connected to the earth, and it is able to exude an influence on areas where the barrier between the two is weak enough. in these weak areas, where influence is particularly strong, you can see anomalies such as humans born with supernatural talents: for instance, luca, along with his mother's half of the family, are able to see and talk to ghosts. there's also taylor, whose family secret is being (cool) werewolves, and henrietta being a vampire (she was turned by some entity from the spirit world). given the rarity of these occurrences, however, there isn't any widespread, consensus belief in the supernatural (definitely a lot of speculation tho, a little more than irl)

heaven is home to angels. while there is some inspiration taken from traditional stories, these are not christian angels. they are an ancient, dragonic species said to have been created by an unnamed cosmic entity. as legends go, they were once pure dragons without free will, designed as playthings by their creator before eventually being shaped into the image and character of man; humanity, having evolved organically in a universe hostile to life, was said to have moved the entity and inspired it to change its own creation. no present-day angels live from this era of their supposed history, but the idolization and fixation on humanity remains a tenant of their society.

while long-lived, war and disease is able to kill angels. death is hard, but not impossible. the biggest war that occurred, one that killed a lot of angels, was the angelic-demonic war, otherwise known as the war of heaven and hell.

heaven is isolated from the rest of the dimensions, exclusionary as a matter of policy. interloping with the spirit world, human world, and, eventually, once it was created, demon world, is frowned upon. tensions began to grow in heaven as more and more angels began to interact with spirits, trading their own powers with those from spirits, altering their appearances and abilities. while initially punished and isolated within heaven as a deterrent, eventually numbers of these "deviants" grew so great that a war erupted. it concluded with the creation of hell, and the mass exodus of demons.

demons may be defined by their origins but they have no consistent set of abilities--some are long-lived, some are short-lived, some are succubi, others are descended from kelpies, and so on. it is so hard to consistently label them that they are often mistaken for spirits; most are very far removed from their angelic roots, with few having been alive during the war, but there exist some. one of my demons, yilmaz, was alive for it, and if i were to use him as an example: he made a deal with a grim reaper, barn, to acquire the abilities of a reaper himself (he had his reasons), and you can see this in his bird-like appearance and scythe tail.

hell has a large human energy economy, with it as a primary import--that is, many feed off humans for their main source energy, although not exclusively. some feed off of spirits, others on other demons, and some eat synthesized alternatives and food. it just varies on the type of demon. angels don't rely on humans in the same way, but have come to view themselves as the maintainers of their world's barriers--that is, they ensure that demons, spirits, and even angels aren't haphazardly revealing themselves or harming humans. while their society remains exclusionary, they have undertaken diplomatic relationships with specific sectors and "industries" of the spirit world, such as death; for instance, while most human spirits will cross over themselves with time, or immediately, some linger and cause problems. spirit guides, such as zacharias, help cross over wayward spirits. he is on earth a lot, but is most often incorporeal like the spirits he deals with (but he sometimes takes up a tangible human form). this means he is constantly making run-ins with grim reapers, who he cooperates and works with. however, "intermingling" is still frowned upon. as a side note, zacharias himself is somewhat of an outcast and doesn't agree w basically most of angel laws so yeah.

anyways, the spirit world is pretty much a sandbox of any folklore or legend you can think of. its a big place with different districts, not limited to any one cultural inspiration. because there's no limits i've ended up with a pretty bloated cast but i love them all :). some of my spirit characters have human alternate designs that they use when on earth because they're not allowed to appear otherwise. some characters, like mitsuki and yue, lived on earth in their true forms before rules were so strict and their presence wasn't a risk to their safety but those days r long gone. they all kinda coalesce in one location in the human world, in a specific college town, so most of my human or human-passing characters are either students or faculty or have some other reason to be there.

when the universe was originally conceived, a lot of attention was focused on this college setting and interactions between evanora, my one normal human character, and everyone else, but the project has evolved beyond the scope of her and i wouldnt even describe her as the main character anymore, the universe has become more like a larger collection of separate, sometimes interwoven stories i zoom in and out on. i don't have any particular, big ambitions for the universe but it is funny to think that i've been working on this since like...2018-ish and i'm happy to share with everyone!!!

“How is my sister?” - Aeron to Miakoda when Lyra is ill

Miakoda was sitting on the edge of princess Lyra's bed. The poor thing was sick for a week already, and lately she had difficulty to get out of bed. When the first sign of sickness appeared, Miakoda was assigned to bed rest with her. As a vampire, she was immunized against any disease possible, and as no one knew if it was contagious or not, prevention it better than cure. The girl was sleeping peacefully, at least that was what her heartbeat made believe. Miakoda was wiping Lyra's forehead with cold water when she heard Aeron's voice. Anyone would have been startled by his coming, for he was quiet, but the vampire heard him from down the stairs. She barely looked at him, to focus on Lyra's temperature.

She had to admit that she was surprised to see him there. To see anyone, really. First, the Le Feys weren't the most affectionate family; none of them visited Lyra since she was sick –until now at least. Her mother barely tried to have news from her daughter, when Miakoda tried to give her some news about Lyra's state, the High Queen dismissed it as non-important. This broke Miakoda's heart to see a mother so indifferent to her own child well-being. None of her brothers asked about her, at least until now. Aeron probably came secretly because showing that you care for another being was a sign of weakness for Morgana, and even if it was clear that Aeron was her favourite child, that does not mean that she won't be disgust to know he cared for his little sister.

After a moment of silence, Miakoda finally put down the sponge she was holding into a bowl, before turning around to face the fae prince. She noticed that he wasn't looking at her. She was just there, in front of him, but he only had eyes for his sister, and she couldn't help but think that it was quite adorable. Miakoda looked at the young man closely, without showing that she was staring. From all the Le Feys, Aeron was the one she knew the less, and she did not know if it was a good thing or a bad thing... The vampire decided to not think of that right now, so she shook her head, looking at Lyra who was slowly moving during her sleep.

“Her temperature is normal. Her heartbeat too. She will survive, she is stronger that what people think.”

“I know that too well.” Aeron said with a smirk, and this time he looked at Miakoda who looked at him back, frowning. “Do you know what she has?”

“I suspect the flu, and chickenpox. She complained that she was itchy. It won't last more than one more week.”

“I see.”

Now, they were both silent. Both looking at the little princess who cough and moan in her sleep. Miakoda took back to sponge in order to wipe Lyra's forehead, when she felt Aeron's presence near her. He might just want to come closer to see his sister's state, but Miakoda had to admit that his presence so close made her uneasy. She almost dropped the sponge on Lyra's face because she was startled to see him so close. For a moment, she froze. Unable to move, as if she was a puppet, and Aeron the puppet master. She was tensed, and if he wasn't a prince, it'd been a while that she would have pushed him. Maybe aware of her discomfort, Aeron stepped back a little, and Miakoda did not notice she was holding her breath until now. Blinking, she shook her head, her attention back on Lyra who was still asleep.

“Thank you. For taking care of her.”

“If not me, no one would.” Miakoda said without thinking. It's only once the words were out of her mouth that she understood their meaning. Eyes wide open, she turned around to look at an amused Aeron. “That's not what I wanted to say!”

“Don't apologize, you're right. No one would have stepped in. Mother would have surely let her die if it wasn't for you.”

Miakoda smiled politely, letting a silence sink in. she could tell that prince Aeron wasn't the kind of men to enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet, because he couldn't stay still. She opened her mouth, ready to talk, but was cut short by movement in the bed. Lyra woke up, a bit groggy, coughing, but a smile on her face when she saw her brother in the room. No doubt that Aeron was her favourite brother. Miakoda stood up to let the place to Aeron, who came closer to the bed.

“You are here! I dreamt of you, did you play with fairy dust for me?”

“No, not this time. But I can stay and make you dream of pleasant thing.”

“Oh, Mia, can he stay, please?” The little girl asked, pouting. She felt a bit better now that Aeron was there, but still, it was obvious that she was sick. Miakoda's eyes went back and forth from Aeron to Lyra, before she smiled politely, bowing in front of them.

“If his majesty wishes to stay with his sister, I cannot refuse.” This must be the right answer because Lyra clapped her hands with happiness, making Miakoda giggled. The vampire decided to let the two siblings together, in order to go get some food for them.

I must know your headcannons on Kantrio and Johtrio interactions

i think i'm stating the obvious here and i hope that's alright!

in this scenario i consider red and ethan to be the protags, they are the heart of these relationships.

The kantrio consider the johtrio their juniors, for a VERY long time but eventually as they get older they see each other on equal terms, for the most part.

ethan was the first one to meet red and blue, red sees him as his energetic lil kouhai for the most part, they get along swimmingly because ethan is a nice, sweet guy, but not a doormat. i think when it comes to training pokemon, they're a 50/50 split. but people tend to remember red more than ethan. ethan is pretty okay with that, except when you annoy him enough.

blue however doesn't gel with ethan's personality, blue is flighty, impulsive and ethan is a bit grounded, wholesome even. also ethan did not like being the go between for red and blue's Weird shit when they were teenagers.

this is probably why he gels with leaf. they pretty much bond over their shared Dissatisfaction with whatever blue is. except leaf actively trolls blue. ethan is way more passive aggressive about it.

and leaf has lots of money, mysteriously. nobody knows what she does for a living but she is generous with money, funding her little besties ventures. she's like the wine aunt with the ekans around her neck and a glass of merlot in her hand at all times. she's a bit of a schemer, but it all works out for her.

i'm still trying to figure out lyra, i think pokemas does a bit with her as a musician? i like that, fits her name too. she's down for anything essentially, blue is her bestie for real actually. if ethan is too much of a wet blanket then lyra's the opposite.

i also think red and ethan are just. whipped. maybe. oh sure they are powerful trainers but they live at the mercy and whims of their partners.

silver might require a whole separate thing, she's trans femme in my head, as an adult. i think it would be REALLY FUNNY if ethan was the one who came up with her name because he didn't get the chance to process what was on her trainer ID and came up with "Silver" when put on the spot.

red likes silver a lot, she's easy to work with, minds her own business, and is a really strong trainer. blue was the one who recommended her to become viridian city gym leader after him. leaf and her have a really funny relationship where leaf sees her as her little sapphic junior that she imparts all the lesbian lore onto and silvers like "you're only like three years older than me wtf?" silver sees right through her lol.

I THINK thats it for now, all a WIP really but i've been thinking about it for weeks. i just hope it all makes sense!!
