sorry if it's a weird (or dumb) question, but can vampires have tattoos after their embrace? or their healing factor or anything like that would make them disappear (i.e. like it happens in teen wolf with the werewolves)?
no worries, not a dumb question at all ! vampires are re-set to the time of their death every night, so even if they were able to get conventional ( as in, human ) tattoos, they would not last the night because of their curse. if they were to get tattoos of the magical variety however, granted by witches or using blood magic of some sort, they would be considered exceptions to the curse.

if vampires are to remain hidden from humans at all times, how does one come to be a ghoul besides being born one?
technically speaking ( aka, how the camarilla would spin it ), the tradition of the masquerade refers to humanity as a whole ⸻ that is, humans cannot know that their natural predators walk among them. however, with the onward and inevitable march of technology, it has become increasingly harder to operate in a human world unseen. in the days before computers and credit checks, it was easy to open bank accounts, obtain housing, and generally live a life off the grid. now, unless one lives out in the sticks, this is practically impossible. cities are the stomping grounds of vampires because they are where humans ⸻ their prey ⸻ are more densely populated. thus, there lies the need for human operatives to assist them. one can create a ghoul simply by having a human ingest their vitae, whether or not this is consensual. it would not be a very intelligent idea to forcefully turn a human into a ghoul, even with dominate, but it has been done before. much like one's childer, a ghoul is the responsibility of their maker, and the camarilla has the right to kill one if they're deemed a threat ⸻ though most would try to pre-empt this from ever happening. ideally, a ghoul is an individual a vampire can trust, a person with the utmost discretion and loyalty. for a ventrue, this may be a 20-year employee at one of their businesses, for example. for others, it may simply be an individual they can tempt with promises of immortality. ghouls, after all, stop aging, and many are on the waiting list to become a vampire ( think guil.lermo from ww.dits ). in conclusion, the main point of obtaining a ghoul, besides auditioning for childer, is to have a hyper-competent human assistant, be it driver, secretary, or tech support. with enough reliability and obedience, anybody can become one. if there's one thing vampires have learned over these thousands of years, it's that anybody can be bought.

hi! i'm sorry if it's a silly question, but i was wondering if you could expand the lore around salubri's third eye a little more? can it only be hidden with something physical (like a bennie or even bangs)? and like in vampire: the masquerade, does it bleed whenever the vampire uses one of their disciplines?
hello there, there's no need to apologize at all ! you are correct on both counts ⸻ the third eye, which is awakes upon a kindred shortly after their embrace, cannot be obscured by any sort of magic, and vitae seeps from it whenever using a discipline. to get further into specifics, while the third eye is omnipresent and can be covered by hair or headscarf or hat, it does not necessarily always appear human, so one could presumably play it off as a tattoo of some sort, for instance. additionally, the amount of blood expelled during discipline usage correlates to the level of the discipline used. if one uses potence to lift a particularly heavy box, it might only well up in tears. if one uses fortitude to withstand being hit by a speeding car, the vitae will flow freely down their face. this vitae is also capable of driving nearby vampires into a frenzy, aligning with the clan's bane of having supremely alluring blood. i hope this helps !

for the application, should all vampires be loyal to the side that their clan is loyal to? or is that more like a guideline to follow?
not at all ! there are plenty of reasons why one might be defiant of the sect they're currently in. a scourge could be an anarch infiltrator working for the camarilla to gain access to their secrets, a current anarch might feel insecure about the city's stability and want to return to the comfort of the camarilla, a member of the neutral clans may obey the camarilla now but secretly harbor a stronger sense of independence than they let on. obviously, there are some roles that require a higher level of loyalty ⸻ members of the court like the seneschal and most primogens ( especially toreador and ventrue ) would most likely be deeply dedicated to the camarilla. wardens and sweepers are the backbone of the anarch experiment who debunk any accusations of lawlessness. kindred on the street level are as diverse with their allegiances as people are in real life. some seek the historic safety of the camarilla, others firmly believe in the anarchs' equality, and some just don't care about anybody but themselves. it's up to you whether your muse is a pragmatist or an idealist ! the form on the app refers to where your muse's loyalties lie when push comes to shove. thanks for the question !

is the nosferatu technically separated into two clans in this version as well? if I wanted my muse to be niktuku would they still technically be nosferatu? or would you rather us just stick to the main bloodline? thank you for any clarification
hi, nonnie ! i would prefer we stick to the main bloodline, as in-lore the nictuku bloodline is considered a myth to clans outside nosferatu ( in comparison to the more widely known and well-documented divergence between troile and ilyes ) and to keep things simpler for those not well-versed in the lore. it's for this reason that i've also omitted antitribu and naming individual bloodlines. thank you for asking !

hello! do you have a muse cap? is everyone restricted to one character upon opening?
hi there ! for opening, writers are allowed to apply for up to 2 muses, but only 1 of them is allowed a named position in the camarilla court or anarch movement, i.e. seneschal, scourge, warden, sweeper. starting or joining a coterie, or taking up one of the open jobs on our locations page is fair game, though. after we open, writers are allowed 2 more additional characters for a cap of 4, provided there is at least 2 weeks of sufficient activity in between each muse. thanks for asking !

how often does it occur that a ghoul might be turned into a vampire? is it frowned upon generally?
it's not uncommon at all, actually ! clan giovanni, which combined with clan cappadocian to become clan hecata, exclusively embraced their own ghouls as they sought to keep vampirism 'in the family.' it's also an easy way to get around the masquerade, being able to show a human the ropes of kindred society and familiarize them with the prince ( who, ultimately, will decide if embracing the ghoul is allowed ). plenty of cainites use ghouls as a steady food source or obedient laborers, but there are just as many who consider ghoulhood as a vampire internship of sorts.

hello! if it's not too much, do you mind sharing a little more on the current prince? is yi minki a descendent of house yi of the joseon dynasty? when and how did they turn?
it's no trouble at all, i'd love to elaborate more on our prince charming !! yi minki ( born 1439 ce — embraced 1481 ce ) is a member of a cadet branch of the house of yi. he and his older brother and sire hyeonsu were born to grand prince yangnyeong and a gisaeng. they were raised in their uncle sejong the great's court but would only reach maturity during the reign of their cousin munjong and served on both sides of the yangban system, with hyeonsu in the military and minki in civil service. while defending the northern border against the jurchens, hyeonsu fell to an arrow and was near death until member of banu haqim offered to embrace him. hyeonsu accepted and became a dedicated member of the clan, ultimately earning enough trust to extend an invitation to his brother, whom he'd kept sparing contact with over the years until the reign of king seongjong. suggesting that they'd help prolong the kingdom's golden age from afar, hyeonsu embraced minki. some centuries later, hyeonsu would become the prince of hanseong until he met his final death during world war 2. after the nation threw off the shackles of japanese imperialism, minki succeeded his brother by claiming seoul as his own and has ruled ever since. as far as his reputation goes, he's well-liked by the anarchs for being fair and open-minded but disdained by the camarilla for being weak. while other in his sect might prefer to stomp all over each other in search of power, minki's priority has always been protecting the vampires of his city. in this respect, he's more aligned with the anarchs — but as someone with a nasty control freak, he's more than happy to align with the camarilla's stringent traditions over letting people choose for themselves. for the last twenty years, he's complained of hearing his beckoning, though it was only this past chuseok that he confirmed he would be following through with it.

when a vampire is turned, do they need to have the same disciplines as their sires? how long is their sire responsible for them? is it forever or just until they learn the ropes of being a vampire? thank you!
hello ! technically speaking, all disciplines except for blood sorcery & oblivion are available to all kindred regardless of bloodline. it just so happen that certain clans favor certain abilities — for example, brujahs are brawlers who benefit from super strength ( potence ), a malkavian's extraordinary senses ( auspex ) are so powerful that they can see into the future, a gangrel is relates better to beasts than humans ( animalism ). blood sorcery & oblivion are mystic arts that only banu haqim + tremere & lasombra + hecata, respectively, are able to use, though members are free to choose specialize in other disciplines and go against the grain. the same can also be said for everyone else ! maybe a brujah would rather use their powers of persuasion ( dominate ) over their fists or a ventrue would rather pull strings from the shadows ( obfuscate ) than the ceo's chair. the process of releasing a fledging differs for each clan, but the ultimate consensus is when a sire feels confident that their childe can survive — and, in the case of the camarilla, advocate for themselves — on their own. some instinct-driven clans like gangrel and ravnos can release a fledgling within nights, while others who favor the slow burn like ventrue and tremere may hold onto their childer for decades and even centuries. some sires outright abandon their childer, whereupon the anarchs and camarilla may step in to adopt them. it would be up to the prince ( and maybe baron, if they don't pawn the choice off to the adoptive sire ) to decide when they're ready. i hope this helps !

hi admins! sorry if this is obvious or already mentioned somewhere, but how common is it for kindred to switch clans or alliances? i know that sabbats are nonplayable, but is it possible to play someone who was once a sabbat but now part of one of the other clans/alliances? thank you and so excited for this rp!
hi there, no need to apologize — clarifications are what i'm here for ! so first of, to correct your terminology a bit, clans are unchangeable; they're like the genetic makeup of a vampire and dictate their specific curses or powers ( such as blood sorcery ). kindred can switch sects or factions at will, though some may give more pushback than others. it's quite common, for instance, to jump from camarilla to anarch. many kindred are born into the ivory tower and become disillusioned with just, such as theo bell of the brujah, whose departure brought the majority of his clan with him. in the reverse, the camarilla is suspicious by nature and would more than likely demand tests of loyalty before genuine acceptance. as for the sabbat, it is significantly harder for them to leave their sect because they engage in many low-level blood bonds to keep its members on a tight leash, but it's possible ! clan lasombra was a major part of the sabbat who switched over to the camarilla for protection. due to the sabbat's reckless nature ( and how set in their ways camarilla and anarch leaders are ), it would take a very, very, very long time for an ex-sabbat to gain their trust. that's not to say your muse can't try ! most sabbat are lowly foot soldiers, and the camarilla is more than willing to use unaligned or 'disposable' kindred in a similar manner, just as much as the anarchs are willing to take in strays. thank you for the question, i can't wait to see what you whip up !
#vt:faq#vaulderie & vinculum have been added to the glossary if you'd like to read up on sabbat blood bonds!

hello! im a vtm fan and I'm so excited to see this! for the disciplines, are we allowed to pull from the book for specific abilities? while more or less following the prescribed power level/correlation in the reference books. also will vitae be heavily plot drop driven?
hiya ! yes, absolutely feel free to draw from the sourcebooks ! we're based on v5 lore but i did want to keep things simple for people who may not be as well-versed in the world of darkness. i'd say we're more character development-driven than mechanics-driven so i wouldn't sweat too much unless it's super metagamey ! and yes, we will be heavily plot-driven. i hope to have drops and events at least every other month but that may increase depending on activity level. hope to see you around soon !
