domestic klance + scars
Keith watched as Lance laid down on his stomach, tired after a long training session. He had just managed to pull on sweatpants after his shower, before the fatigue became too much and he collapsed on the bed. Keith, himself, was just finishing up his own shower and Lance dozed while he waited. He was on the verge of sleep when Keith sat down beside him. He ran his fingers through Lance’s slightly damp hair, gently untangling the few knots. Lance smiled softly and leaned into the touch.
“Tired?” Keith’s voice was soft as he continued to scratch at Lance’s head.
Lance hummed his answer and snuggled deeper into the bed. Keith pressed a kiss to his hair and Lance sighed contentedly. He pressed another kiss to Lance’s neck, trailing down to his shoulder. There was a scar on the back of Lance’s neck, hidden unless you lifted the hair. Keith moved the hair aside and kissed it. He felt Lance relax further into the mattress and smiled softly.
He sat back and admired his husband’s broad back. It was littered with scars, both faded and new. The most prominent being the starburst one he got when saving Coran. Though the healing pods were amazing, they weren’t able to heal everything.
Keith traced the edges of the starburst. The skin was mostly smooth, but the shape of the scar was sharp. The scar tissue contrasted starkly against the darker colour of Lance’s skin. Keith lightly trailed his fingers all around the outer edges first, before pressing down gently as he made his way towards the center. He leaned forward and pressed a lingering kiss right in the middle, leaning his forehead against Lance’s back for a few moments afterwards.
While he knew they were safe now, he also knew that he couldn’t stop himself from worrying both about the past and the future. He couldn’t change the past, and they still had battles to fight in the future. It was a waste of time worrying about those things right now.
So, Keith leaned back and continued to trace his fingers along all of the scars littering Lance’s back. He made sure he kissed each and every one of them, enjoying the feeling of warm skin under his hands and lips; enjoying the feeling of Lance under him, alive and well.
Lance continued to doze happily, sighing contentedly when Keith finally finished his ministrations and laid down next to him. He rolled over so his back was to Keith, so Keith could wrap his arms around his waist and pull him flush against his chest. Keith buried his face in Lance’s hair and hummed quietly, both of them on the verge of sleep.
“I love you.” Keith whispered into Lance’s ear.
“I love you, too.” Lance replied.
They both fell asleep with a soft smile on their face, basking in the other’s love and warmth.
