世界には色々な境界があり、お互いの向かい合う形がある。

この作品シリーズは2019年に最初に始めたものだが、本作品は様々なパターンで連作として色々な境界について考えた作品である。

この時期、世界はコロナによって今まで当たり前にあった状況は一変していた。最初は、未知の病原体に世界は萎縮し東京では街の灯りが消え外にも出れない、、、っといった今までの物理的な繋がりは隔てられ、これからどのようになるのかの不安が蔓延していた。だが、少し経つとそういった混乱の状況に慣れてきたのか、もしくはその断絶がきっかけになったり、それらのフラストレーションの結果なのかもしれないが、その状況は次は国同士などで対立する関係も目立つようになっていた。国境を互いに行き交ったかつての状況から、互いの国境での対立という目立たなかった境界をあらわにしたようにも思えた。（後にこれらは違う大きな状況が浮上しそちらに話題がうつることになるのだが）

僕は、これらの対立について考えるようになっていた。互いの境界について。

　この作品は、2つの短冊状に切られた板が向かい合わさって隆起する作品である。向き合う板の境界付近は鏡になっているためお互いが捉えた景色を領域をまたいで映し移し合うようになっている。最初はそれぞれの板で周りの景色を少し歪めながらある程度はっきり映しているのだが、鏡が向かい合う二つの板の境界に近づくほどに徐々に単独で写っていた状況は、互いの景色は混じり合いどちらがどちらの状況か分からなくなる。��囲の景色はそれぞれの境界を跨いで互いの領域に入り込み連続している。

　この展示での本シリーズは、境界線を異なる形で、色々な向かい合う状況をつくった。それぞれに立場は違うし、関係も異なる。それによってお互いの領域の境界のあり方は違うと思う。だが、僕はそれぞれの個と個の間にある境というのは分断するものではなく、互いが繋がるための接合部であり、連続するそれぞれの景色の通過点の一つなのだと、本作品をつくりながらそんなことを考えていた。

The world has many different boundaries and forms that face each other.

This work series was first started in 2019, and this work considers various boundaries as a series of works in different patterns.

During this period, the world was being transformed by the corona, a situation that had been taken for granted. At first, the world was atrophied by the unknown pathogen, the lights went out in Tokyo and people could not go outside, and the physical connections that had existed until now were cut off, and there was widespread anxiety about what would happen in the future. However, after a while, people may have become accustomed to such a confusing situation, or the disconnection may have been a trigger or a result of frustration, but the situation has become more noticeable in the form of conflicting relationships between countries. The situation seemed to have revealed the less obvious boundaries of conflict at each other's borders, rather than the former situation of crossing borders to and from each other. (Later on, these were to be replaced by other major situations that emerged.)

I began to think about these conflicts. About their borders.

　In this work, two boards cut into strips face each other and rise up. The boundary between the facing boards is mirrored, so that the views captured by each other are reflected and transferred across the area. At first, each board reflects the surrounding landscape clearly to some extent while distorting it slightly, but as the mirrors approach the boundary between the two facing boards, the landscape that had been captured alone gradually becomes blended with each other's, and it becomes difficult to tell which is which. The surrounding views straddle the boundaries of each and enter each other's territory and become continuous.

　For this series of works in this exhibition, I created various facing situations with different boundaries. Each of them is in a different position and has a different relationship with the other. I think this makes the boundaries of each other's territory different. However, I was thinking while creating this work that the boundary between each individual is not a dividing line, but a junction for mutual connection and a point of passage in each continuous landscape.
