Hello!! I want to ask you something, do you have thoughts about how Kuairumi wedding would animate? Because I'm so rooting for them and I can't even wait to see them together 😩♥️💛✨
Thank you so much for this ask and I have thought about it as a new kuairumi shipper I have a few ideas:
The wedding style:
The wedding will most probably be a Japanese or Chinese styled wedding. Like it would look really beautiful and gorgeous seeing them both and it suits their styles completely. Western wedding will kind of throw me off since both are not familiar with the western wedding and stuff. Japanese or Chinese wedding kind of suits them.
Japanese
Chinese
Venue:
My thoughts on the wedding would be that it will take place in the new shirai ryu fire garden we have seen glimpses of it in tomas story ending and in the chaos reign trailer
Like this place is beautiful. What if they met at the fire garden and want the wedding to be there? That would be beautiful and makes their relationship go deeper with each other and the garden itself.
The umgadi:
Harumi being an ex umgadi and being familiar with the royal family most likely we will see mileena , kitana, Tanya, li mei and jade at the wedding for both kuai and harumi also to see their old friend again. Liu Kang or li mei would definitely be officiating the wedding happy for kuai liang and harumi. Liu Kang is self explanatory but I am saying li Mei because of @laismoura-art umgai girls au. Li mei and harumi share a mother and daughter type of relationship and harumi would want nothing more than for li Mei to officiate the wedding.
Best man and maid of honor:
If there is a best man and maid of honor thing at the wedding going from nrs perspective it will be Tomas as the best man along side hanzo as his grooms men. For maid of honor going from @laismoura-art and my perspective it would be her best ex umgadi Friend suchin.
Sorry I just want suchin to be there as kenshis date and as harumi's best friend and maid of honor at the wedding.
Now here comes the most important thing.
Bi-han attends the wedding in secret:
I have thought this event long and hard and in chaos reign we see bi-han getting captured so likely the chance would be that he sneaks off to see his brother's wedding. A wedding he wasn't invited to for his own safety even tho kuai knew somewhere his brother would be watching his and harumi's wedding from afar.
Now in the trailer we saw bi-han getting captured and turned into noob saibot what if this event happened during the wedding as bi-han was watching the ceremony from the bushes keeping his guard down and there were no lin kuei soldiers to warn him. It would be easy for bi-han to get captured by havik.
Wedding would be the perfect scenario for bi-han to get captured and for the wedding to happen. Because as cold as everyone thinks bi-han is he will drop everything to attend his brother's wedding.
@laismoura-art and @mikka-minns your thoughts?

U.S., states sue to ‘break up’ Ticketmaster parent Live Nation© Drew Angerer/Getty Images
The landmark case — joined by 30 state and district attorneys general — could dramatically reshape an ecosystem that has long sparked outrage from artists and fans alike, whose frustrations erupted in 2022 when high fees and site outages disrupted early sales for Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour.
Live Nation is an entertainment titan: It is a concert promoter, artist manager, venue owner and ticket seller and reseller, constituting a sprawling empire that its executives publicly herald as the “largest live entertainment company in the world.” Last year alone, Live Nation produced more than 50,000 concerts and other musical events, and it sold more than 620 million tickets globally, the company boasted to investors in April.
But the U.S. government contends that the company’s vast power and reach have also afforded it unfair advantages over competitors, allowing Live Nation to evolve into an illegal and harmful “monopolist” — with the power to box out rivals, reduce consumer choices and raise ticket prices.
“We allege that Live Nation relies on unlawful, anticompetitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the United States at the cost of fans, artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement, later adding: “It is time to break up Live Nation.”
State and federal officials allege that Live Nation threatens to retaliate against performance venues unless they agree to use the company’s Ticketmaster service. Otherwise, these venue operators risk losing access to popular performances and tours — an unfavorable ultimatum, according to the government, that has allowed Ticketmaster to lock up more than 70 percent of sales at major concert venues.
State and federal antitrust watchdogs contend these arrangements ultimately have restricted artists, arrested the growth of competing ticketing services and cost audience members, who are forced to pay high, mandatory ticketing fees. In response, they asked a federal judge in New York to order structural changes to Live Nation, which could effectively force the company to break up.
A long, arduous court battle is now likely to follow, one that will see the Justice Department argue for unwinding a merger that the agency itself approved more than a decade ago.
“It’s also clear that we are another casualty of this administration’s decision to turn over antitrust enforcement to a populist urge that simply rejects how antitrust law works,” he added.
The lawsuit marks only the latest federal antitrust case initiated under President Biden, who came to office promising to crack down on corporate power and profiteering. Over the past three years, federal watchdogs have sued major technology companies including Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google for allegedly anticompetitive practices, and they have blocked major mergers involving airlines, biotech firms and grocery chains.
“Maybe it took people by surprise, but the president said [the government] wanted to do something on this, and they have,” said Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), the top lawmaker on the chamber’s antitrust panel. She added that Washington never should have allowed Live Nation to acquire Ticketmaster in the first place.
“However you look at it,” she said, “that’s a monopoly.”
Nearly 15 years ago, it was Washington’s blessing that paved the way for Live Nation to expand its corporate footprint: The Justice Department in 2010 gave the green light for the company to purchase Ticketmaster, combining what was already the largest concert promoter with the most prominent ticketing platform.
The deal created a powerhouse that could manage every part of a performance: It could plan and execute the logistics around an artist’s tour, handle all of their initial sales through Ticketmaster and stage some of the shows at Live Nation’s venues, including the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and the Brooklyn Bowl in New York.
In a bid to preserve competition, the Obama administration approved the merger only on a conditional basis. It required Live Nation to divest some of its business, and it prohibited the combined company from retaliating against venues that opted to use other ticketing platforms. At the time, federal officials said their consent decree would pave the way “for strong competitors to Ticketmaster, allowing concert venues to have more and better choices for their ticketing needs.”
But the legally binding agreement didn’t quell broad opposition from concert venue owners and artists, who grumbled in the years to follow about the ease with which Live Nation allegedly flouted federal restrictions. The accusations are laid bare in the government’s roughly 120-page complaint, filed Thursday in a federal court in New York.
“With this vast scope of power comes influence. Live Nation and its wholly owned subsidiary, Ticketmaster, have used that power and influence to insert themselves at the center and the edges of virtually every aspect of the live music ecosystem," the complaint alleges. "This has given Live Nation and Ticketmaster the opportunity to freeze innovation and bend the industry to their own benefit.”
The state and federal lawsuit also charges that Live Nation gobbled up some of its rivals — and struck anti-competitive arrangements with others — in a bid to further establish Ticketmaster as a dominant sales platform. It offers the example of Oak View Group, described by the government as a “competitor-turned-partner” with which Live Nation brokered a deal to avoid competing with each other over artists and tours.
“The live music industry in America is broken because Live Nation-Ticketmaster has an illegal monopoly,” Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter, who leads the antitrust office, said in a statement. “Our antitrust lawsuit seeks to break up the Live-Nation-Ticketmaster monopoly, which will restore competition to the benefit of fans and artists alike.”
In response, Live Nation said in a blog post that its integration had actually helped concertgoers and artists alike, since it resulted in “better prices and better services than they would receive if these complementary businesses were separated.”
The Justice Department launched its latest Live Nation investigation in 2022, two years after the agency under President Donald Trump found that the company had “repeatedly” broken its promises to antitrust enforcers. As a federal lawsuit became imminent this spring, competition experts urged the Biden administration to remedy its predecessors’ mistakes by unwinding a company that they said had leveraged its dominance to the detriment of rivals.
“It’s clear what the DOJ has tried previously … has not worked,” said Sumit Sharma, a senior researcher at Consumer Reports. “Live Nation-Ticketmaster’s market share has remained the same.”
The first word of the federal probe arrived on the heels of another fiasco — a surge of demand for Taylor Swift presale tickets in 2022 that crashed Ticketmaster and left countless fans unable to buy seats for her 2023 tour. The widely documented incident put a fresh spotlight on the company, its dominance in ticketing and the fees that it charges consumers.
Policymakers around the country soon unleashed a battery of legislative proposals meant to crack down on abuse in ticketing and better highlight the fees that customers face before they reach the checkout page. On Capitol Hill, Klobuchar summoned Joe Berchtold, the president of Live Nation, for a lengthy grilling over his company’s business practices.
“We hear people say that ticketing markets are less competitive today than they were at the time of the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger,” Berchtold said in his testimony. “That is simply not true.”
But the company’s critics and competitors swiped at Live Nation for issuing ultimatums to concert halls and sports venues that could not afford to lose the company’s business. Jack Groetzinger, the chief executive of SeatGeek, a competing platform, said the fears of retaliation had allowed Live Nation to grow unchecked: He estimated that Ticketmaster came to amass a market share exceeding 70 percent in primary ticket sales, especially for professional basketball, hockey and football games.
“Major venues in the United States know that if they move their primary ticketing business from Ticketmaster to a competitor, they risk losing the substantial revenue they earn from Live Nation concerts,” Groetzinger said.
The heightened scrutiny promoted Live Nation to scale up its political operation dramatically in recent years: The company spent $2.3 million to influence Washington policymakers in 2023, more than double the year prior, according to OpenSecrets, a money-in-politics watchdog.
Live Nation has continued its spending spree into 2024, helping to host a party around the annual White House correspondents’ dinner — a swanky performance that touted the company’s bona fides on cocktail napkins.
“We’ve seen an uptick in their lobbying spending,” acknowledged Morgan Harper, the director of policy and advocacy at the American Economic Liberties Project, a left-leaning group that has advocated for Live Nation to be broken up. “It’s not surprising an entity like Live Nation, whose business model has allowed them to engage in anti-competitive conduct, would be bringing to bear all the resources it has.”

Pro-Palestine Protesters Arrested Outside Of DNC, Nearby Businesses Require Extra Security
Pro-Palestinian activists face police during a demonstration outside the venue of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Illinois, on August 19, 2024
A number of pro-Palestine protesters were arrested on Monday near Chicago’s United Center, where the Democratic National Convention (DNC) is being held.
The protests, made up of thousands of people who are current Chicago residents or traveling visitors, have been scheduled to take place on the first and last day of the four-day Democrat convention as organizers have strategically scheduled the protests to take place during the same time as the DNC.
Organizers of the march said that roughly 15,000 people were present in Union Park, which is nearby to the site of the convention.
Protestors were arrested after breaking off from an even larger riot and protest march. They quickly began storming a perimeter wall outside of the convention center.
“Demonstrators breached a portion of anti-scale fencing along the Democratic National Convention’s outer perimeter near the United Center on Aug. 19. Law enforcement personnel were immediately on-scene and contained the situation. At no point was the inner perimeter breached, and there was no threat to any protectees,” announced the DNC Public Safety Joint Information Center.
Chicago Police and U.S. Capitol Police responded by showing up in riot gear and asserting dominance over the roughly 100 unruly protestors attempting to breach the outer fence. Police Supt. Larry Snelling and his top brass followed behind the group of officers.
Although there was at least 100 protesters and rioters just on day one, surfacing reports claim that only four people have been arrested so far.

Protesters continued to flood the streets while protesting the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza, which they consider Democrat leaders to be complicit of, due to President Joe Biden’s announced allegiance to Israel as America’s greatest foreign ally.
The DNC is scheduled to feature top Democrat leaders, including President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz (D-Minn.), and 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Funding of a major sports venue
In the previous months there has been a debate of funding for a stadium in both the AFL and the NRL. 12 months ago, the AFL announced the 19th team to be placed in Tasmania, however, there has been one talking point when it comes to the new team is who is paying for the stadium and how much will it cost the government and public in Tasmania. (Siegfried & Zimbalist, 2000) stated “local sport venue will give benefits to local fans and residents and give them a worth to their own community.” The media turned the new Tasmania stadium into a massive debate between the labour and liberal government and also the community of Tasmania and the AFL in general and lead to a premier election in which Labor did win.
ABC News
Jacqui Lambie in a media press conference stated, “Small business are just as important, however with this $715 million dollar stadium we risk losing the small business.” The media interpreted that the reason for all of the debate was because of how much the state and government would have to put into the stadium by the AFL. This is where it got messy because the governments were arguing each other on the issue it lost backing of the 19th AFL team in Tasmania not going forward, however now liberal and about government and the AFL have come to an agreement on how much the cost for the stadium and how much the government will need to put in.

(Jacqui Lambie Blasts Proposed AFL Stadium as a “Slap in the Face to Tasmanians,” n.d.)
Leichhardt oval has been part of the NRL since 1934 and moved from north of Sydney to west of Sydney to be the West Tigers home ground from 1980. This year however could be bittersweet for the Tigers fans because they want to upgrade the ground, but in order to get the ground redeveloped the tigers will need to fund it all of it without any backing from the New South Wales government. Swindell, D., & Rosentraub, M. S. (1998). Stated “Funding a stadium for upgrades will give joy to the fans and the club, however it effects everyone else because there is not enough funding for other important assets.”
ABC News.
Former West Tigers player Dene Halatau said on the ABC Sport’s Broadcast said, “It's not modern, it doesn't have all the trimmings, but when a fan comes to Leichhardt, they overlook a lot of the rest of that stuff." The West Tigers wanted $100 Million Dollar upgrade, however, was declined by the New South Wales government because of the government being $180 million dollars in debt. NSW premier Chris Minns stated, “We got to consider the hospital, education and public transport system before any redevelopment on sporting stadiums.” This is making the West Tigers more annoyed because their rivals Penrith Panthers are getting a $309 Million dollar stadium built and this is now making it a double standard.

Anthony Albanese joins Chris Minns to open Qtopia Sydney
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/anthony-albanese-joins-chris-minns-to-open-qtopia-sydney/
Anthony Albanese joins Chris Minns to open Qtopia Sydney
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined NSW Premier Chris Minns and a host of other politicians and dignitaries to officially open the Qtopia Sydney Queer Centre of History and Culture at a ceremony held at the National Art School in Darlinghurst today.
“This is a fantastic celebration for the LGBTIQ+ community and it commemorates how far we’ve come, during my lifetime, as a society,” Albanese told reporters at the event.
“From one where we were arresting people, locking them up for being who they are, into one now where we’re celebrating in the very same venue and that’s a great thing.”
“In 1978, dozens of LGBTQI people were arrested at Sydney’s first Mardi Gras,” Albanese also said in a statement.
“Today we’re opening the Qtopia Museum to honour their legacy. It tells the stories of people who have dedicated their lives to the campaign for equality.
“To be recognised as equal and celebrated for who they are and who they love. Their stories and this museum will inspire generations to come.”
NSW Premier Chris Minns also spoke at the event, later saying, “today’s a pretty special day.”
“We opened the first permanent museum of LGBTQI+ history in Australia.
“This place gives our state the opportunity to have one of Australia’s greatest stories told. And voices, who have been ignored – heard.
“It’s a story of underdogs, who fought against the system, who took on all odds – and changed the world. I want this monument to be a reminder to everyone in the LGBTQI+ community.
“It is a basic right to live life as you are – free from fear and hatred. This is for you.”
The opening was also attended by Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore, Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch, Penny Sharpe MLC, NSW Minister for the Arts John Graham, federal and state Sydney MPs Tanya Plibersek and Alex Greenwich, along with many, many others.
Qtopia will have free entry on Sundays thanks to funding from the City of Sydney, while General Admission entry will be $15 on other days. Entry for Concession Card Holders and people aged 11-18 will be $10 while children under 10 will have free entry when accompanied by an adult.
Tickets can be purchased in advance via Humanitix and you can select a two hour window in which you would like to visit the museum between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

Post Malone is coming to Australia (and to Canberra which like no international star ever does so very exciting news for me even though I’m not a massive fan) and his venue for Sydney is labelled "Wilson Parking Domain Car Park" lmao. Like I'm assuming they mean The Domain itself but the idea of him playing in some random car park is kinda funny to me. Like imagine Chris Minns and all the venue owners being like “hmm, one of the biggest singers/rappers in the world atm is coming to our city, where can he play? ... I guess we’ve got a car park for him!” lmao.

If Caritas rose above the ranks of her sisters, the allegorical virtues, to become a Christian goddess of might, her exaltation was due in large part to monastic exegesis. Already personified in some well-loved New Testament chapters, especially I Corinthians 13 and I John 4, charity was [hypostasized] even more fervently by the great rhetoricians of the twelfth-century cloister, who conflated her now with Divine Wisdom, now with the Bride from the Song of Songs.
Instead of demythologizing Scripture, these Cistercian and Victorine exegetes mythologized it further, elaborating its metaphors to create compelling mythic systems of their own. Once Caritas had emerged as a goddess in her own right, whether as a female manifestation of God or as his celestial bride, she readily made her way into vernacular theology, where she merged with the lyric poets' Frau Minne and, through her, with Lady Venus.

Report: Live Nation Subsidiaries Received $19 Million from Save Our Stages Act
- “I did not want Live Nation getting a nickel,” Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) tells Washington Post
Despite lawmakers’ express intent, venues partially owned by Live Nation received some $19 million from the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program, The Washington Post reports.
Live Nation holds a minority stake in the venues in question that received a share of the $15 billion in the emergency-relief act known colloquially as Save Our Stages. No laws appear to have been broken. But sponsors, including Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), didn’t want Live Nation to benefit.
“It’s true it (the legislation) doesn’t include Live Nation venues, because they have such a vast empire with the ticketing and things,” she said in 2020.
That sentiment hasn’t changed since the legislation designed to help small, independent venues weather the pandemic and lack of performances it necessitated was passed.
“When we wrote this, we specifically didn’t want these publicly traded companies - Live Nation foremost among them - to get their hands on this money,” Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.), told the Post. “I did not want Live Nation getting a nickel.”
In a statement to the Post, Live Nation reiterated it does not have a majority stake in any of the benefiting venues and pointed out the Small Business Administration approved the funds.
“These entities control their own day-to-day operations, and the folks running these small businesses used every resource legally available to them to support their employees through this crisis, which was not only their right but also an entirely understandable and human thing to do,” it said.

Cabaret (Commander Cody x reader)
{masterlist}
Warnings: do you like angst? no? well too fucking bad. I re-watched Cabaret and this happened. Order 66, mentions of sex
I listed to the Liza Minneli version for this.
Notes: Two fics within 24 hours of each other? who is she?
..........................................
What good is sitting alone in your room?
Come here the music play!
Life is a cabaret, old chum.
Come to the cabaret!
The live band was in full swing, cranking out those gorgeous harmonies that heightened your words so magnificently. Tonight was a big night - you were performing for the senators tonight, an impromptu celebration for the ever nearing end of the Clone War. Dooku was dead, Grievous was on the run, apparently Mandalore was being sieged (for whatever reason, Cody hadn’t told you). All of it gave you hope that soon the bells would toll and there’d be cheering in the streets of Coruscant. Maybe you and a certain commander would be able to recreate that absolutely darling picture circulating the holonet of the soldier kissing his lady love (scandalous as it was, you were pleasantly surprised by the chatter surrounding the idea of clones having partners. A lot of people were all for it). As it were, Cody was hunting that damnable droid general down on Utapau with Kenobi while you were waiting with bated breath for that precious call telling you that it was time for Cody and you to run off. You could already see the cabin he wanted on Alderaan...
Put down the knitting, the book, and the broom -
it’s time for a holiday!
It was a miracle that you and Cody even met. You were caught on Christophsis when the separatists attacked. All you’d wanted was to help out your old friend, Bail, by bringing some joy to the citizens of the the crystalline planet. The separatists blockaded though and it was only thanks to the 212th and the 501st that you’d been able to get back to Coruscant. You’d performed for the men in return, entertaining almost every wish they had.
And a few more for the golden commander that managed to strike your fancy.
Life is a cabaret, old chum,
come to the cabaret!
From then on, every time he was on Coruscant he’d find a way to watch you perform. Even when you were in venues that, while they didn’t exclude clones, weren’t particularly welcoming to him and his brothers. It never seemed to shake Cody. It was odd. When you looked at him, you would have thought that he was a hardass who wouldn’t ever entertain the thought of quiet nights curled up in someone’s arms pressing the softest of kisses to any exposed skin. But, gods above, was he soft. Guess you could never tell till you’d held someone in your arms.
Come taste the wine, come hear the band.
Come blow a horn, start celebrating -
right this way, your table’s waiting.
You’d never understood the concept of “home”. As one of the galaxies most notable performers, you were always on the move. Senators always requested your presence at their personal parties, rich families used you to show off, and you were always busy with your personal concerts that were trying to raise money for relief missions and charities. Your home was the hyper-space lanes and the members of your band.
I used to have this girlfriend known as ‘Elsie’.
With whom I shared four sordid rooms in Chelsea.
But then Cody happened. What had started out as non-committal sex and company was now a relationship you cherished above all else. And if the ring tucked away in the drawer of your nightstand was any indication, not something you intended to let go of.
She wasn’t what you’d call a blushing flower.
As a matter of fact, she rented by the hour!
You just had to wait for him to be back in your arms and you could pop the question and start the newest chapter of your lives.
The day she died the neighbors came to snicker...
“Well, that what comes from too much pills and liquor.”
Just a little while longer, you realized with a start, and you’d be living a different life. Your life had always been one of ‘go, go, go’ of ‘bigger, bolder, better’. You always had to one-up yourself to stay in the cutthroat world of performance. But in a few hours - you could be starting down a new path. One that offered you the chance to settle down. You were pretty sure you’d keep performing, you loved it too much to let it go, but you’d have a husband and a permanent home. It was going to be different.
But when I saw her laid out like a queen...
And you were so terribly excited.
She was the happiest corpse I’d ever seen.
For tonight, you’d happily embrace your old life.
I think of Elsie to this very day.
I remember, how she’d turn to me and say;
“What good is sitting all alone in your room?” You crooned into the mic affixed to your cheek with a playful look about you as your eyes surveyed the sea of politicians and rich persons of Coruscant and elsewhere. “Come hear the music play.”
Life is a cabaret, old chum,
come to the cabaret!
What was Cody doing now? You couldn’t help but wonder. Most likely he was in the middle of a fight and that thought did make your stomach twist uncomfortably. He’d be fine. You had to remind yourself. He always was. Except for after Annaxes when he spent his week of leave curled up in bed with you. But, that was different. Very different.
And as for me - as for me.
I made my mind up back in Chelsea-
You could almost see Cody’s charming, closed mouth smile and the loving, smoldering look he’d send you the second he had you wrapped in his arms. You could feel the cold press of plastoid against your temple, the soothing caress of his hand running up and down your back, the solid hold he kept on your hip with his other hand. You could smell the blaster residue, dirt, and smoke that always clung to him after he got back. But underneath that, the blend of tea tree and fresh air that you most associated with him. And you could hear as much as feel the whisper and brush of his lips against your skin as he reminded you, “I’m here. Don’t worry.”
When I go, I’m going like Elsie!
You couldn’t wait for Cody to be back.
“Start by admitting from cradle to tomb-” You continued, making your way down into the audience. A spotlight followed your every move. “It isn’t that long a stay! Life is a ca-” The emergency lights flickered on - painfully red as a deafening alarm rang outside. Anxious clamoring erupted among the senators.
“What happened?”
“Are we under attack again?”
“Is the chancellor alright?”
In the corner next to the door you noticed three of your security guards hunched over a datapad. They signaled you over. In bold print read ‘Chancellor attacked in failed Jedi coup’. A coup? “E-Excuse me-” You hastily excused yourself and raced to the room that had been set up as a makeshift dressing room for you. Just as you reached the door, the ground shook. More panicked screeches escaped the senators. You rushed to the window where large plumes of smoke were billowing into the sky from the direction of the Jedi temple. Your stomach plummeted and you blindly clicked on the private comchannel. “C-Cody? Cody, my love, a-a-are you there?” Static met your ears for a moment till, finally, a click signaled someone had answered. “Cody? Please, is that you?” No answer, just muffled yelling. “Cody, something’s happened here on Coruscant - there are emergency reports saying the Chancellor was attacked and the temple has smoke coming from it. Cody, it says the Jedi tried to stage a-”
“By the orders of Lord Sidious in accordance with Order 66,” the voice that answered belonged to a clone but it didn’t sound like Cody, “all Jedi are to be executed for treason against the Republic.”
You felt faint. What had happened? The war was so close to being over - how? “Cody-” you began but the com chirped to tell you the line had been broken. With a trembling hand, you reached for the window and leaned against the cool transparisteel. The panic was palpable all over Coruscant as the news spread. With one act, everything in the galaxy had changed.
Only a cabaret, old chum.
And I love a cabaret.

Loma: A Citizen of Venus. William Windsor. St. Paul, Minn. The Windsor & Lewis Publishing Co., 1897. First edition.
"Long narrative on a cosmic germ theory of evolution. A Venusian comes to earth to educate the male fetus of an unwed mother so that the fetus will become the apostle of Venus's ideal culture. On Venus clothes are considered ugly and unsanitary, all human faculties are developed and 'balanced,' and social status is determined by a network of interpersonal relations among strangers, acquaintances, associates, brothers, sisters, lovers, and consorts -- the more of the latter three, the higher the status."

Badge displaying three phalli bearing a crowned vulva in a procession, 1375-1450, found in Brugge (© Van Beuningen Family Collection)
Malcolm Jones has pointed out that the crowned vulva on this badge should be interpreted as a persiflage on Mary (Jones 2000, 100-101), whilst Johan Winkelman, Emeritus Professor of Historical German Literature at the University of Amsterdam, identified the vulva as an extreme depiction of Vrouw Minne (i.e. the Middle Dutch equivalent of Venus, a symbol of lust) (Winkelman 2002a, 231). According to the attributes with which she is associated, Vrouw Minne, portrayed as a vulva, is the counterpart symbol of Mary, just like Eve in the above-mentioned miniature from the Book of Hours of Catharina van Kleef. A litter bearing a copulating couple excavated in Amsterdam makes clear that the three phalli’s worship of the vulva symbolizes coitus (Van Beuningen, Koldeweij & Kicken 2001, 407, fig. 1732).

WASHINGTON—The Justice Department is preparing to take legal action against Live Nation Entertainment Inc. on allegations the company has sought to strong-arm concert venues into using its Ticketmaster subsidiary, according to people familiar with the matter.
The department believes the concert-promotion giant’s conduct has violated the merger settlement Live Nation and the dominant ticket seller reached with the government in 2010, the people said. Under that agreement, the department’s antitrust division allowed the companies to combine, but required them to abide by conditions designed to keep consumer prices in check by preserving competition in the music and ticketing industries.
As ticket prices have risen, critics have questioned whether the settlement has worked as intended. It is due to expire next year, but the Justice Department now plans to ask a judge to extend the restrictions by several years and prevent the alleged coercive conduct by Live Nation, the people said.
Live Nation’s chief executive has publicly denied that the company has violated its agreement. The company and the Justice Department have engaged in talks but haven’t settled their differences, people familiar with the matter said.
Details about the department’s specific concerns couldn’t immediately be learned.
The Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger consolidated two of the most powerful forces in the music industry. Ticketmaster holds an estimated 80% of its market, according to people in the concert industry. As the world’s largest concert promoter, Live Nation organizes live music events by booking talent, securing venues, setting ticket prices and marketing shows. It has also built a robust artist-management business.
The merger faced opposition at the time it was announced in 2009, and the decision by the Obama-era Justice Department to allow the deal with a settlement wasn’t well-received in some industry and consumer circles. Critics who say U.S. antitrust enforcement has been too lax often point to the merger as one where the government should have taken a harder line to protect consumers.
In the past decade, and particularly over the past few years, ticket prices have soared—increasing by nearly 50% since 2009 to $92.42 on average for the top 100 tours world-wide, according to Pollstar.
The settlement, known as a consent decree, forbid Live Nation from forcing venues that want to book the concert promoter’s tours to use Ticketmaster for those shows, and from retaliating when venues choose to use a ticketing competitor instead.
The deal also required Ticketmaster to license its technology to Anschutz Entertainment Group, the distant No. 2 concert promoter, to build a competitive ticketing platform. That ticketing service, AXS, has had limited success outside of AEG’s own venues.
Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim, the Justice Department’s antitrust chief, confirmed during a September Senate hearing that the department was investigating allegations that Live Nation had been violating the decree.
Typically, venues ranging from nightclubs and theaters to arenas and stadiums enter long-term contracts giving a ticketing provider the exclusive right to sell tickets to any event they host. Over the years, Live Nation’s competitors have accused it of using its market power as a concert promoter and artist manager to coerce venues into using Ticketmaster or risk losing out on lucrative bookings.
While in theory advances in new technology have made it easier for other ticketing companies to challenge Ticketmaster, in practice few venues have defected from their longstanding contracts with the giant, according to people in the industry. Almost 10 years since the decree was put in place, Ticketmaster has no serious competitor.
Live Nation previously dismissed the calls for investigation as based on a misunderstanding of the decree and ticketing-industry dynamics. Speaking at a conference in September, Live Nation Chief Executive Michael Rapino said the decree allows the company to make decisions that are “right for our business,” and that booking a Live Nation tour date at a venue that uses a ticketing provider other than Ticketmaster may not make economic sense for the company. He acknowledged that competitors have raised flags to the Justice Department, but said the company had never been found to engage in wrongdoing.
“We have no fear that we have any systematic issues. We’re very compliant,” he said.
The company has been facing fire from Congress as well as the Justice Department.
In August, Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) and Amy Klobuchar (D., Minn.) asked the Justice Department to investigate the state of competition in ticketing, focusing on the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger.
“Live Nation’s dominance in the sector raises serious antitrust concerns. I’m glad that the Department of Justice is preparing to take action,” Ms. Klobuchar said Friday.
Earlier this month, four House lawmakers sent a letter to the department that expressed concerns about the merger, saying, “Our constituents are facing significantly increased live event prices and a lack of meaningful alternatives to purchase tickets to live events.”
The signatories were Reps. Ken Buck (R., Colo.), Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.), Lucy McBath (D., Ga.) and James Sensenbrenner (R., Wis.).
The Justice Department rarely has sued companies for alleged violations of antitrust consent decrees, but Mr. Delrahim has publicly voiced the need for companies to abide by their commitments. He has called for changes in decree language that would make it easier for the department to establish violations in court, and to force merged companies to pay the government’s costs in enforcing merger settlements.
The Live Nation decree has arisen recently in a second context with the Justice Department. The company has asked the department for permission to explore a transaction involving Rival, a ticketing company launched last year by former Ticketmaster CEO Nathan Hubbard, according to people familiar with the matter.
The decree requires Live Nation to give notice of any potential transactions with a ticketing company so the department can investigate the competitive effects of such a deal.
Mr. Hubbard led Ticketmaster for four years after the merger.
Mr. Hubbard, whose efforts attracted high-profile backers including top Silicon Valley venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and Santa Monica, Calif.-based Upfront Ventures, envisioned that fully digitizing tickets could address inefficiencies in how live events operate and make them safer by connecting identity, payment and location data.
He built the aptly named Rival to be what he hoped would be a serious competitor in ticketing.
