Hey! Are you guys planning on running the fest again this year? I loved seeing it last year!

Hi! I have been getting this question a lot lately, and as it is around the time that I would be posting the Dralentine’s Day sign up post, it is time for me to address them.

There will not be a Dralentine’s Day this year. I am so sorry.

For the past three years, I have been at the helm of Dralentine’s Day, in all of its messy wonderfulness, and I have been overjoyed to spend year after year reading all of the wonderful things everyone sends in, and getting to share them all with you.

It is also extremely stressful, and as a person with a persistent mental illness, leaves me depleted for several days after February 14th has passed. Normally, I push through this, or I find help - as I did last year, in the lovely @julietsemophase - but this year, I am not sure that I have it in me. Even with help, most of the planning falls on me. I’ve spent all three past years locked in my room for the entirety of the day, just queueing posts and fixing any issues that come about, with my very little HTML knowledge. This year, I started university, which makes spending a whole day on Tumblr a huge set back in my studies.

Dralentine’s Day is my most beloved creation, my brain child, built from the ground up before “drarry squad” was even a term we used in this fandom. I love it dearly, and I know that it will live on, both on this blog in later years and through those who love it, but this year, I have to take for myself, and I hope that you will understand.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?

mmmmh, a little less? i was pulling a steady 10k a month towards the end of 2k15, which is when i started writing for real, but understandable, considering the whole mid-year mental breakdown and subsequent recovery :’D

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2016?

aus of any sort! like actual legit ‘let’s fuck shit up’ aus :D i’ve always wanted to, but always thought my tastes ran just too weird to pull any off in any readable, enjoyable format? the exorcist au and the gods and goddesses au are pretty good examples of the aus i come up with when left to my own devices, except that those are on the tame end of ‘weird’ for me :’D

also i’ve relaxed my rigid stance on ‘love square o n l y’ and dipped my toes into poly ships and things like adrialya, which i probably never would’ve done before :’D

The cultural sector: always teeming with life and vigor, particularly during commercial holidays. It was comforting in a sense, although truth be told, he's never seen the fair bring about such an expansive crowd until tonight.

Heart shaped balloons, chocolate and flower vendors all about, there's a chill in the air--yet most couples would find that the warmth of one anothers' hands would juxtapose the weather.

Still, he offers her his jacket. Force of habit or maybe a staple in their relationship, really. 

Stuffed animals lined up on a counter that stands within a tent of sorts: none other than the shooting range. 5 or 6 stuffed animals are tucked under one arm, the other gripping the faux gun positioned at the stand. He glances at her for a brief moment.

"Think you can win that one?" He says, motioning his head in the direction of a particularly gargantuan stuffed bear. After all: dates were a matter of cooperation, weren't they? Even if that cooperation was competitive in nature.

I'll say one thing when it comes to Valentine's day today: It's been YEARS since I last felt happy and had legit plans for this holiday (ok, well, not 100% true: last year I saw the Lego Movie on valentine's day and that made me happy at least) but throughout middle and high school on the 14th I definitely felt alone and...insignificant. It was never a day I looked forward to, so...the minnie i got from my mom, the quadrant valentines shown from the meetup (plus one more not pictured here) all were really really nice...thank you so much guys..

V-day for 3

"What do you mean, we're not going anywhere for Valentine's Day!?"

Clovis and Ryn exchanged uneasy glances.  Xavier, who was extremely enthusiastic about holidays, was looking at them with an expression that was the epitome of disappointment and dismay.

"I thought you were closing your gym early!?" Xavier sulked.

"I....I am." Clovis shifted uncomfortably, slowly removing the last bit of armor on his shin.  "I'm closing right now so we can go home, and because let's be real.  No one's gonna challenge me on Valentine's day, and hardly anyone's come in here to look at bits of metal."

"B-but....V-valen.....wh....?????"  Xavier made a few upset, confused noises in his throat, hands gesturing wildly.  "B-but we have to do something!"

"L-like what?" Ryn asked quietly.  "I-it's too late to try and reserve a table for dinner anywhere...and it's probably going to be packed everywhere we can think of..."

"Woah, hey," Clovis sighed, standing from the bench he'd been sitting on.  "I never said we weren't doing anything..."

Xavier huffed.  "Well if we're not going anywhere, what are we doing?"

"We could always stay home," Ryn suggested.  "I'm not sure we'd have much fun going outside, anyway..."  He let out a short, quiet laugh, more nervous than anything.

"Home sounds boring," Xavier pouted.

"Take it from me," Clovis sighed, "Valentine's isn't that great.  I've had two girlfriends, I know."

"I've had way more than you and I still think it's great!" Xavier shot back.

"Woah hey!"  Clovis held his hands up, as if a gun was being pointed at him.  "I just said, I didn't say we weren't doing anything!" he repeated.  "I just thought, y'know...I could cook dinner for you guys, and we could hang out and play games, or watch a movie.  Then tomorrow we can go ransack the grocery stores for the discount candy and chocolate."  He rubbed the back of his neck, and shoved a hand into his pocket.  "Just....I dunno.  I just wanted to spend the day with you guys, cuz I haven't been able to lately."

"If I may..." Ryn said slowly, "I'd rather just spend today quietly with you guys, too...."  He lowered his head, shyly turning it towards his shoulder.  "Just....just the three of us."

There was a moment of silence, and a beat passed before Xavier swept the both of them up in a tight hug.  "Awwwhhhhhh you guysssssss," he cooed.  "Y'know what?  Yeah!  As long as I get to spend the day with you guys, I'm happy."  He nuzzled into them lovingly, and Clovis and Ryn exchanged glances again, this time, relieved ones.

"Okay," Clovis smiled, giving Xavier a kiss on top of his head, and Ryn one on his cheek, "let's bounce, then.  Maybe we can do a nice dinner tomorrow, or the day after, okay?"

"Sounds good..." Ryn chuckled softly.  

"Yes!!" Xavier cheered, releasing the both of them.  "Oh, make sure the place serves vegetarian dishes!"

"I got it, don't worry," Clovis chuckled, putting his arms around his boyfriends' shoulders.  "I know who to ask."  With that, he kissed the both of them on the cheek.  "Happy Valentine's Day, you two."
